  1. I hope they're using this episode as a jumping point to try to make Haley care more about making friends and having fun. She used to be cute and smart - she even had a posse of admirers. I'd like to see her loosen up a bit, and PLEASE get her some clothes that fit! Oh, and they had stunt doubles for Phil and Luke on the trampoline.
  2. If you do get Season 7, there is a guest commentary for "All Ye His Saints" by Clint Howard (who played the little boy) and Rance Howard (Clint and Ron Howard's father). Did you know "All Ye His Saints" was originally written as an Adam episode? But due to the location weather they could not film that episode, and of course Pernell Roberts left the series after season 6. I just checked, and the season 7 set is $45 on Amazon. The original price of $76 is outrageous, but I think $45 is reasonable considering you're getting 32 episodes plus extras.
  3. I liked this show much better than the one last year. More songs, less interviews. There's a LOT of talent in this cast, and they picked some great songs. Plus, the arrangements were stellar.
  4. Last night I watched "L.A. Woman" (S1, Ep 11) and was amazed at how different Marina Sirtis looked. Even her eyes seemed smaller (apparently, according to IMDB, she wore dark contacts as Troi). Flynn made an interesting observation to Gabriel - something like "I treat her like crap and you take care of everything for her, yet she treats us both exactly the same."
  5. This episode was on today. One thing that had a little ick factor was the niece was played by Tina Sinatra, Frank Sinatra Jr.'s sister. So his character was hitting on on his real-life sister. I found that odd casting! Another thing that caught my ear was at one point Pete said "my date with Marilyn", which was the name of a 2011 movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1655420/ starring Michelle Williams (as Marilyn Monroe) and Eddie Redmayne (just won the Oscar for playing Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything". ) I know that really is off-topic, but like I say, it caught my ear.
  6. I never thought she was elderly. I know a lot of people who keep those little packets, and I'm one of them. My whole family seems to keep things because "someday, you never know, you might need them." I think it comes from my parents who lived through the Depression. In fact, last weekend the "Hints from Heloise" column in my paper (maybe I am old, I still get a paper) had a question about condiment packets: http://www.sacbee.com/entertainment/living/home-garden/article11350061.html
  7. That's a nice obit.
  8. INSP has started playing the "lost episodes", Saturday night 11pm and midnight (Eastern time). Bonanza was split into 2 packages for syndication. MeTV and TVLand play the more popular set - all but one episode from seasons 1-6, and about half the episodes from seasons 8-11. The other set was shown (full and uncut) for a while on Encore Western, and is being shown on INSP.
  9. It's always a little startling to see the actors out of character, isn't it? (and Johnny Galecki, it wouldn't kill you to smile would it?)
  10. I'm glad it wasn't a "typical" bloopers show; normally those just consist of someone making a silly mistake or breaking character, and everyone thinking it's hilarious. Those kids are all adorable!
  11. I've never seen that MASH episode, but that's pretty funny! Dirk was also a regular on "Black Sheep Squadron." If you get MeTV, it's on Sunday, 7pm (eastern time). He was also on a "Little House on the Prairie" episode, starring his dad's buddy Michael Landon; it was one of his first acting roles. He was around 16 at the time. (I got that from his IMDB entry http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0088781/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t12 )
  12. He was saying "Beth is real." The nurse misunderstood.
  13. When I saw the card for Leonard Nimoy, for some reason it really hit me that he's gone, and I started to cry. As to the episode - I actually liked Sheldon's application video. When he hit Leonard in the face with that pie, I laughed out loud.
  14. Manny (watching the mini drone fly away): "And just like that, it disappears." Luke (looking at Phil, who has just fallen into the pool without his bathing shorts): "In his defense, the water's really cold."
  15. Leonard's attraction to Penny started with her looks, but IMO it's grown beyond that. He loves her. I don't know if they're the perfect couple - there's a lot of differences to overcome - but I know plenty of solid long-term couples that have more differences than they do.
  16. It's amazing how things have changed, even since the 70s when I was in engineering school. There were only 3 women in my class, and in my very first class the instructor declared that he didn't believe women should be engineers but he had to accept it. I went back to my dorm room and cried. When I tell young women that story, they are stunned and indignant (and I should hope so!), but I think in a way they don't believe me because it is so outside their experience. This was in the SEVENTIES. I can't imagine what the experience of a young woman in the 50s would be.
  17. I have seen this mentioned a few times; do we know this for a fact or is it just speculation?
  18. That's so cool! I found a picture: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120103171551/bigbangtheory/images/3/3a/Jim-parsons-sheldon-cooper-leonard-nimoy-live-long-and-prosper.jpg
  19. Last night I watched "Show Yourself" (season 1, ep 4, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0542963/?ref_=rvi_tt ). I remember when I watched this for the first time, I thought it was intense and exciting, but now seeing it again, all I could think was "how could Brenda screw up so badly?" I was glad to see "Franny" (Amy Hill, the research specialist) again, but sadly this was her last appearance in the series. One of my complaints is that all the women on TV cop shows are young and slender; it's nice to see a competent older woman for a change.
  20. I haven't seen this article from Feb 24 posted yet: http://allaboutthetea.com/2015/02/24/sister-wives-anthropology-study-proven-fake/ This shows some social media posts by people associated with this episode, including someone from the production staff and the two "anthropologists"
  21. That must have been the luggage lady's first day on the job. Someone in luggage claim would have a tougher skin. What Bernadette and Howard said to her was NOTHING compared to what a baggage claim person would hear on a normal day.
  22. My niece went to college in Chicago, and when she got married she had someone bring 2 huge bags (the 3' long kind) of popcorn for the reception. It really WAS good popcorn.
  23. I have a friend who lives for birthday parties, and I'm from a family that thinks birthday parties and presents are for kids. She just doesn't understand when I tell her I don't WANT a party. Even though Penny said she understood, maybe she's like my friend and thinks deep down Sheldon wants a party.
  24. Oscar needs to be a slob. Matthew Perry's Oscar isn't really a slob, he's just a modern sit-com guy. And Felix just makes me think of Sheldon Cooper.
  25. I loved this episode! It was insanely fun! I'll have to get used to Mitchell's hat, though. Not sold on that.
