  1. I just watched both shows on demand... boy, I think they're counting on Debra Messing's fans to bring in the numbers. Because that's the only reason I'll watch this. (Although that assistant is great, and by that I mean the actor's doing a good job.)
  2. The actors all have presence, even the young ones - the older son, Andre Jr, is excellent. I think the adults have chemistry. That's probably the most important thing to see in a pilot. Keeping my fingers crossed that writers can bring it.
  3. Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I loved the new episode!
  4. It's a style. On longer hair it's called "ombre" - not sure if that's what it's called on short hair. (My sister's a colorist.) Some people take it to extremes, but I like it on Penny.
  5. I like this; it explains a lot. I wish we'd get to see it.. maybe we will?
  6. His OCD was a major part of the show. In one episode, his psychiatrist found some medication for him, but it mellowed him out so much he couldn't function as an adult - it worked too well. As he often said, "it's a blessing... and a curse."
  7. I have not the slightest ounce of artistic skill, but in the scene in the room above the tavern, where Dougal was standing stoically behind Claire, I wanted so much to be able to paint him. He was amazing, just standing there.
  8. This was a WONDERFUL series. I wish they had continued with it. I don't know if it was cancelled or if it was planned to be only 7 episodes.
  9. I think one person who is missing on TV is the smart middle aged woman who is good at their job and is a "normal" size. I mean, I love me some Brenda Leigh ("The Closer"), but she's a teeny blonde. Where's the female older cop/scientist/executive who actually looks the part? One character that I loved was "Elaine" ("look what Elaine found!") who played the ex-CIA agent on "The Closer" episode "Serving the King". I wish we had seen that character again. Older woman characters are interesting since they had to fight for their place in the working world. Maybe you can tell I'm one of them. Where are the characters I can identify with?
  10. Thanks for the recommendation! I've been watching it for a couple weeks now, and I like it a lot. Mo Rocca is adorable flirting with the older ladies.
  11. ok, let me see if I have this: Elena's brother set a bomb that injured several people and caused the death of Pamela's twins, and Elena helped her brother escape justice Elena is sleeping with a married man. She also is helping this man gain control of the Ewing corporation. Elena has spent most of her life living on Southfork and currently has a cottege on the Ewing property Elena is mad at the ENTIRE EWING FAMILY because of something JR did years ago and no one else in the family is aware of Elena slept with John Ross in order to get his father's letter out of his wallet so she could blackmail him Are we supposed to feel ANY sympathy for this woman?
  12. If this happens, is it a deduction, or is it just not included in the scoring? (Thanks, Good Queen Jane, for the education on the finer aspects of the sport!)
  13. I was glad to see Jim Parsons win again as "Best Actor in a Comedy Series", but since I didn't see any of the other actors in their shows, I'm not really a good person to judge that. But I've seen all but one of the "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy" nominees, and I think Mayim Bialik was robbed (again). Her Amy Farah Fowler is one of the quirkiest and funny characters on television!
  14. Linda Gray is looking a little off - I don't know if it's Botox, weight loss, or what. I hope she isn't sick. Mitch Pileggi (Harris) is getting to be quite an interesting character.
  15. I also have problems with the accents; I turn on my closed captioning when I have a problem.
  16. I'm not a cook, but I like these 2 shows on The Cooking Channel: Bitchin' Kitchen - the hostess, Nadia G, is really funny and a bit demented. She has 3 regulars who give advice on spices, meats and fish, and health. I'm not sure they're making new episodes, but they're still showing 1 or 2 episodes a week. Nadia G has a 2nd show called "Bite This" which is a lot like "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives". "My Grandmother's Ravioli" - Host Mo Rocco visits grandmas - and occasionally grandpas - who show how they make their signature dishes. Mo is funny and sweet, and the grannies have a ball.
  17. Current enough! He's wanting the Cartwrights to talk about sex? Geez, they didn't even have a bathroom!
  18. Every now and then you hear a current cultural reference to Bonanza - share yours here! from a December 2012 Entertainment weekly article about "Django Unchained":
  19. They will NEVER admit that they were in no "danger" in Levi. They will NEVER admit on camera that the various adults have all gone through bankruptcies. They think the people who watch their show will save them from financial ruin by buying their jewelry. They are delusional.
  20. I hate "people with glasses are smart". And its corollary "Women can take off their glasses and instantly are beautiful" (and can apparently see just fine.)
  21. Here's a "recent" interview with the actress who played Peggy, Katie Sweet: http://www.tvdads.com/tvdkatiesweet.shtml (I can't tell when this was done; since she was in Bonanza in 1963, and this shows her with youngish kids, I'm thinking maybe early 80s)
  22. In general, the timeline is supposed to be 100 years prior to the filming time. But, as you note, there are inconsistencies, some of which are pretty glaring. Even in the same season, with episodes written by the same writer, there are contradictions. As for Laura - her character never developed a personality, and there was no chemistry between her and Adam. Too bad Adam couldn't just keep Peggy.
  23. Do they have to be alive? I still love looking at Adam Cartwright (for his chest) and Joe Cartwright (for his pants).
  24. The best part of the episode for me was rewatching the "kissing shares hormones" talk. The look on the boyfriend's face was priceless! Other than that... meh.
