  1. Every time I watch a lady skate to "Carmen", I can't help but compare her to Sasha Cohen. Her "Carmen" program amazed me. And I miss the spiral...
  2. It might be a while before they deal with how to handle the actress's death. Remember, they lost a friend and colleague. This episode reminded me of the last episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond", where Raymond had minor nasal surgery and had problems coming out of the anesthetic. His older brother Robert tried to get to him, telling the staff "I can wake him up!" And Sheldon breaking his nose and the subsequent couch scene was pretty funny!
  3. Does anyone have a link to the scoresheets for the ladies' competition?
  4. Oh, that makes me nervous, just watching them.
  5. That's actually pretty cool. I can imagine that a kid would do that if the 2 sides of the family had different pronunciations. When my sister's kids were little, they had no idea that "Ant" wasn't part of my name.
  6. Don't know if anyone else caught it, but at the beginning when Butch was in Barbara's apartment, at one point he said to Gordon "Slow down, Hoss." Drew Powell, who plays Butch, was "Hoss Cartwright" in the show "Ponderosa", which was a 2001 prequel to "Bonanza".
  7. I hope we'll still see her. After all, Christine Baranski has been appearing while she's on "The Good Wife." (Oh, wouldn't it be awesome if they met?)
  8. The theme song was sung by Ben, Hoss, and Joe in the pilot. Thankfully it was cut. The pilot was bad enough without this ending!
  9. I don't have a problem with the "sexy women in science" article if it is in a magazine aimed at the general population. Done correctly, it can show that women in science aren't a stereotype and encourage more young women towards a career in science. I don't really remember the episode's specifics about the article, though.
  10. Jason Brown's LP outfit looked like he should have been skating to music from The Hobbit. Movie music is awesome, actually - I'm surprised we don't see more skaters using it. Maybe getting the rights to the music is harder?
  11. Well, we once saw Raj in a lobster bib and tighty whiteys - I'm not sure I'm over that yet.
  12. My mom caught herself singing this in the grocery store once.
  13. I have never known anyone with a company car that was limited to only using it for company business. That's not practical for most people, and companies recognize that. (It might be different in a government job.)
  14. I never watched this show when it was originally on, but lately I've been catching it on MeTV. I really enjoy the chemistry between Jim and Pete; it seems so natural. I like that they kinda switched it around a little, making the older one the bachelor and the younger one the more stable married man. They just seem like nice guys. I'll keep watching to see some of the character development you all have mentioned.
  15. I was watching "Friends" the other night. It's the episode where Ross and Rachel first kiss. Ross said something like "that ship has sailed", then Rachel says "I don't need your stupid ship!" Only it doesn't sound like "ship" - see the video around 1:27
  16. About the Nigerian family - coincidentally the day after watching this episode the lady I worked with was telling me about a Nigerian guy she used to supervise (we were discussing Ebola and burial customs). She said that that even though the husband was a student at the local university (she ran the cafeteria), his English was pretty bad and his wife spoke no English. So apparently that part of the plot was realistic.

I was on the fence about continuing to watch this series, but this episode was so great that I can't wait for next week!
  18. I really enjoyed this episode. I understand why Penny wanted to give the money back to Leonard. She's starting to make some real money of her own and I'm sure this was a moment of pride for her. I like that they decided to start a discussion about money in preparation for being married. And they came up with a good solution, one that most married couples I know have done. And why Penny likes Leonard: He's sweet, thoughtful, funny... why wouldn't she love him?
  19. Honestly, I don't see the problem. It's not like she's bouncing in everyone's faces in a tacky string bikini; she's wearing a nice bikini and a coverup. I think she looks great!
  20. Dre was trying to get some black friends for his son, so he drove by a bus stop and tried to get some kids into his car. When a woman standing nearby gave him a look and started to dial her cell phone, he realized what he sounded like, apologized, and even commended the woman for doing the right thing before tearing off in his car. (It doesn't sound funny but it was.)
  21. The Wallace Shawn character's actions were those of a psycho and not just someone disappointed in not getting a judge appointment. That was just too much.
  22. Thank you SO much! Huh... I don't get the "eventually she goes back to the ex" vibe at all. I hope she doesn't; he's charming, but he's a jerk.
  23. Xena and Gabrielle from "Xena: Warrior Princess" Brenda Leigh Johnson - from "The Closer" Jadzia Dax - from "Star Trek Deep Space Nine"
  24. I think one reason he's so likable is that he's actually competent in his job, and not "accidentally successful".
