  1. I understand the "ick" reaction. I think I could wear the stone on a ring or a pin, but for some reason I would draw the line at wearing it on a necklace.
  2. I know exactly how you feel - I fixed my toilet too! I'm sure a plumber would have cost me at least $200. Youtube has a how-to for just about anything! My dad is one of those people who can do just about anything (but he draws the line at car maintenance; I think there's a story there). He's from that generation. Nowadays, people don't even mow their own lawns; I can't imagine plucking a chicken in the coming apocalypse.
  3. I feel sorry for Raj - and I don't think he's a creep. I actually like his character; he's a bundle of contradictions, and he can be very sweet and romantic. It seems that since Howard got married he's desperate for someone he can be close to. I wonder if we'll see Issabella again. (I looked up the actress on IMDB.COM, and they had the name spelled "Issabella", which is a variant I've never seen before; I wonder if it's a typo.) It's hard to believe, but she's 50 years old!
  4. ESPN is playing the "30 for 30" episode about the Tonya Harding / Nancy Kerrigan incident this week. It's on various ESPN stations.
  5. NPR "All Things Considered" interviewed Scott Silveri, the creator of the show. I just caught the last part of the interview; they will post the audio later today at this link: http://www.npr.org/2016/11/10/501613535/abcs-speechless-looks-to-change-how-hollywood-depicts-disability
  6. Have you tried a different browser? Sometimes that works.
  7. Is she in law school? I thought she was still an undergraduate.
  8. Rosie looks great! I know she prayed on it and all, but if Christy does a good job as a realtor, she can earn enough in a couple years to pay for school . I wish she could have just tried it for a while. But yeah, Christy without money problems could ruin the show.
  9. I hope they stay friends. It IS possible for a man and woman to be just friends. During my career probably 75% of the people I worked with were men, and I counted a lot of them as friends.
  10. This topic is so interesting; thanks to all of you who are sharing your stories. I'm overweight, and I've noticed even people who are overweight can be judgemental of others who weigh more ("at least I'm not that fat!"), even if they don't say it out loud. It's frustrating when your weight becomes a symbol of a character flaw - you're greedy, you eat disgusting food, you're lazy, you have no self control. If losing weight was easy, everyone would be thin. No one WANTS to be fat. But you can't let it run your life.
  11. I wonder if "Prop 187" was a real thing in the Florida 1996 elections. If the show goes on for 4 more years, we might see the 2000 Florida election examined!
  12. You inspired me to do the same. Life is too short.
  13. I didn't care for the main plot, because I kept thinking "why doesn't she just ask her daughter why she drew her like that?" But I did like the part where all the mothers ended up embarrassed by their kids' pictures. It kinda reminded me of "The Angry Family" episode on "Everybody Likes Raymond". I am still liking the main character and her 2 friends, though. Even the kids are growing on me.
  14. I've been watching Skate Canada on UniHD, and they're showing a commercial from US Figure Skating. I really like it; I like the catch line "If you can handle ice, you can handle anything." You can see it at http://www.wegetup.com/
  15. They sure crammed a lot into one episode! I liked all but the "parents talking about their 18 year olds being married" segment. It was nice to see Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman looking so "normal", but their characters were just too weird.
  16. I read that as a joke - she was kidding that he throws like a boy, and he was kidding that it's a handicap.
  17. On "After Midnight" a couple nights ago, they had Lauren Ash (Dina), Colton Dunn (Garrett), and Nico Santos (Mateo). Lauren looked very pretty (she has GORGEOUS skin) and her hair was very curly. And Colton Dunn is TALL, which surprised me, since we only see him sitting.
  18. My favorite parts of the episodes are the gals getting together in the diner after their meetings. (Can you call it a "diner" if they serve wine?) The chemistry between all the actresses is so smooth. Add me to the list of viewers confused about Jill's insecurity.
  19. Lily's costume was great! I liked the family theme - Batman, Robin, and Batgirl. Sorry to say, but it looks like Eric Stonestreet has re-gained all that weight.
  20. I've decided the kids and husband are so-so, but Katy Mixon is so much fun to watch, I'm going to hang in there.
  21. That Tippi Hedron costume - I'm still laughing!
  22. What a funny episode! I also loved the Pete Sampras costume, especially the chest hair. And the Evan and Emery subplot was great (and I immediately "got" Evan's "Judge Ito" costume!)
  23. I like Raj. In a way, he reminds me of Amy when she was most desperate for affection.
  24. See, that's kinda the point. This is showing the life of a stay at home mom. Stay at home moms are making a choice, and there are difficulties with that choice. I wouldn't want to be a stay at home mom; I prefer to work; but that's their choice, if they can afford to make it. It's not us vs them.
