I haven't watched DWTS for years, but I'll watch Amanda!!!

I haven't either, but will probably watch a little bit of it. I'm definitely flipping the channel whenever Kenya Moore from the Atlanta Housewives comes onscreen. Seeing her phony ass on one show is more than enough.

Kenya was kind of the last straw for me with the HoWives.  I used to watch most of them, now I watch none of them!!!

hopefully they'll have someone more interesting and engaging to fill in for her while she's away.

I've said this before, but you have so much more optism than I do when it comes to this show!! 😂

I was also wondering, are they actually going to have a live studio audience now? Are they still going to be in chairs spaced six feet apart or is the table coming back?

"HoWives". 😆 I still watch and enjoy Potomac and Beverly Hills, but have lost interest in the others. I'm especially bummed that RHOA is so tired these days since it was the first one that got me into the franchise. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

I'm hopelessly optimistic, I guess. 😉

Good question. If the budget isn't completely in the toilet they should have a virtual audience. Otherwise they could have some staff members fill some of the seats. If they decide to keep the panel at just four they bring the original table back. I remember one show in season 1 when it was just Julie, Holly, Sara and Leah and they had a lot of space. We'll probably get the answers later in the week.

Season premiere week's schedule:

Monday - Actor Lil Rel; Daughtry performs; chef Carla Hall; an audience of frontline and essential workers recieve exclusive giveaways.

Tuesday - The Talk returns in studio with a live audience; actress and singer Idina Menzel talks and performs.

Wednesday - Actress Angela Bassett (🥰).

Thursday - Actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer.

Friday - Singer and talk show host Gloria Estefan.

Finally bringing in a live audience is a step in the right direction, but they've still got a long road ahead of them with no time to waste.

I only tuned in for the first couple minutes, but two things to note:

1) Akbar Gbajabiamila is the new co-host (not sure if he's replacing Carrie Ann, Elaine or both).

2) It's SO nice to hear real applause coming from real people instead of Gene Belcher's keyboard (I'll admit I actually got goosebumps hearing it).

I think Akbar is replacing both. And ditto on your second point. I couldn't believe it when Sheryl said they'd been without an audience for 18 months. I knew it'd been a long time, but didn't know it was that long.

I'll have to wait until tomorrow's show when they're back in studio doing Table Talk to get a feel on how they mesh chemistry-wise, but the mood of the show was more genuinely upbeat than all of last season. Thanks in large part to the return of a live audience.

Way, way too much yelling for me. I won’t be able to watch if it continues. I really hope that when they go back inside the show will revert to “the talk” and not the “scream.”

A friend of mine used to call it "The Clap" because of the constant applause.

My cable's out so I'll be missing today's episode, but something tells me there will probably be a bit more yelling now that the audience is back. Hopefully they'll get it all out of their system and return to normal.

My cable's out until Friday afternoon and I won't even bother sitting through commercials on CBS's website, but I'm curious if you guys think the show's gotten better now that the audience is back.

I must admit Jerry does bring the funny & the others intelligent points of view.  I'm enjoying the show (so far).

I saw a brief clip of yesterday's show when Sheryl parodied Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outfit and it looks like she's lost some weight over the summer break. She also seemed even more relaxed and genuinely excited than Monday. I might sit and endure CBS's online commercials to catch up on what I've missed after all. Not much else to do when there's no cable for another day. 😭

My PVR didn't record Monday's show, and I didn't get past the first few minutes of Tuesday's. I didn't know who Sheryl was imitating, but it was way too OTT and loud for me so I didn't continue watching. I did watch today, at least until the guests (which is not unusual for me). I do like the addition of the two guys, and Jerry in particular I find priceless. I find that he often says what I am thinking, and feel that women are often too PC to say what he will say.

I laughed today when he teased Akbar about his story of difficulty in high school, which ended with his admission that he was prom king. Jerry was hilarious. I also loved it when he said that he joined the zoom high school reunion and then decided, nope, I am out of here. I am like Jerry, high school was fine but I also have no interest in a reunion, I already stay in touch with the friends who were important to me.

I do like that Akbar has kids, and think the panel is pretty balanced. I hope they don't bring a 5th co host in, as I find when there are 5 often not all get to share their opinion on whatever the subject is.

I don't know if it's due to my "bring back my cable dammit!" psychosis or I just have a dirty mind, but I initially read that as porn king. 😳

Both of my high schools closed after my graduation, but I would've skipped a reunion if there'd been one. I only talk to two of my old classmates and head on over to Facebook to see what some of the others have been up to.

Good show today!  Amanda reminded us about DWTS so I checked out the "line-up".  Couldn't find who she was dancing with, but did see Kenya Moore is on the show.  (Don't like her AT ALL!!!  Got a snoot-full of her on one of the HoWives shows that I used to watch.)

I have only ever watched DWTS when there has been someone on that I was interested in, and I haven't watched for a few years. I will watch be watching this season because of Amanda, and hope she does well. I also just finished reading the book she co wrote with her sister, and though it was heart breaking, I thought the book was well written.

I could watch a show with just Jerry by himself. He always makes me laugh out loud at least a couple of times an episode. I loved his story of the reason he and his wife went to counselling. I can relate as hubby and I also went to counselling before we were married because I thought his family, particularly his two siblings, took advantage of his kindness and generosity. (He has a big extended Italian family). I know he only agreed to go because he thought the counsellor would agree with him. She didn't- lol. We have never had to go back (that was 18 years ago) but it was definitely something that needed to be addressed by an impartial third person. I also loved James Brolin's saying : happy spouse, happy house.

Forgot to add, I was so annoyed when Sheryl mispronounced Dan Levy's last name. It is pronounced with a short e Sheryl, not a long e. Even if she doesn't know Dan, his father Eugene has been around for decades. Though she would likely pronounce his name incorrectly as well. It is a pet peeve of mine, particularly when it is done people who are being paid to know better.

@Medicine Crow took the words right out of my mouth. 😆

Speaking of Amanda and DWTS, it was so lovely seeing her and Carrie Ann reunite and Amanda did a great job on her first dance.

Today was the first full show I've since the season premiere and I must say again thank the Lord the audience is back. The mood of the show feels more genuinely relaxed and I'm glad Amanda is seated in the middle rather than the end. The chemistry still needs some work, but hopefully they can continue to improve and keep things going.

Well folks, I come to you with a heavy heart!!  I watched DWTS long enough to figure out when a "ringer" was cast, for whatever reason.  It didn't happen every year, but it did occur often enough for this fan to "see it coming".  Amanda did a fabulous dance last night & got high marks for it, but she can dance her heart out & I don't think she will win, no matter how many votes are cast in her favour.  That's my opinion & I'm going to keep my mouth shut from here on in.  Yes, I'll watch, but don't have high hopes.  (I hope I'm wrong!!!)

I never expected Amanda to win, but I think she'll go pretty far.

James McAvoy is incredibly handsome with a Scottish accent so sexy a recitation of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" would get me all hot and bothered. 🤩 Plus he has a great sense of humor.

I'm liking the new hosts ... 2 guys/2 girls works for me.  Everyone seems to gel nicely.

I've only been able to watch a couple of shows, but what I have seen so far I like. I have a couple of taped shows that I hope to get to on the weekend. But I am enjoying the guys' POV. In fact since many of the topics seem to be family and kid related in the shows I have watched, Sheryl seems often to be the one with nothing really to contribute.

I ff'd past most of DWTS as I did not know who most of the "stars" were. I thought Amanda did really well too, but doubt she will win. She does deserve to go far though, if not to the finals. I do not like the pro they partnered her with. I know Amanda is tall, but I don't like that her partner is barely as tall as Amanda.

Maybe I like Amanda because she's been so lovely on The Talk, but there are people outside of fans of the show who don't like her and call her a "professional griever." :(

I believe in the worst situations, you can find something good. If Amanda was given an opportunity to host a show or appear on DWTS, why not? She's always been respectful of Nick's memory, and I think she can inspire people as well. If someone can go through such trauma and still get up each day, go to work, put a smile on her face and be kind and positive, maybe it will help others who are grieving lost loved ones.

I really liked the show today.  I'm a Billy Gardell fan & have watched Bob hearts Abishola from Day 1.

Watched DWTS until Amanda's dance ... amazing ... she got a great score (32).

Carrie Ann looks "totally refreshed & well-rested" ... if you get my drift!!??

My Gawd, Tyra needs to hang up her spurs & find something else to do.  (Pathetic!!)  (I once was a big fan of hers, but ... )

If you have DWTS taped and haven't deleted, you have to watch further on to see Tyra's next ridiculous costume. I, like you, stopped watching after Amanda. But then I went on the DWTS thread and read the comments and had to see it for myself. WTH? Do the costume people really hate her, or is she that narcissistic that she thinks she looks good? I don't understand why they got rid of Tom, to bring on someone so unsuited for the gig. Argh!!

Continuing to watch usually the first half of the show, and am enjoying the addition of the two guys.

Yes, I saw Tyra's stupid costume.  I don't know what's wrong with her ... she seems to have had a personality/style transplant.  She's no longer the nice gal she used to be.  She's playing the tough/I don't care kind of persona & I don't like it!!!

The only thing I knew about Tyra previously is that she was a model. I have no idea why she is hosting this show, which she seems to think is The Tyra Banks Show with some dancing thrown in. Mind boggling that she is back for a second season.

Regarding today's topics, whenever Will and Jada's marriage is brought up in any medium, it always seems like Will is way more into Jada that she is into him, and willing to do whatever to hold on to her. I have no idea why. His comment that they don't want marriage to be a prison is laughable. If you are married to the right person, prison is the last thing marriage is. I feel sorry for Will, as he never seems happy. OTOH he puts up with it, so I guess he is the one at fault for his unhappiness. If anything, he is the one in prison.

I noticed Folake Olowofoyeku aka Abishola covered up her tatas when they came back for the second segment of the interview. I know this is a tv show and not church, but girl! There's a time and a place and this ain't it. Lol.

Tyra's always been an attention seeker so her donning one of Lady Gaga's old get-ups didn't surprise me.

I got where Amanda was coming from today when she said her Broadway career isn't as big of an advantage for her on DWTS. The girl's got skills, but it doesn't mean she can slay every dance style under the sun. It's like with singing. Someone can possess a powerful, fantastic voice that works wonders in a soul or rock setting, but isn't as captivating in a country or jazz song.

I liked the discussion about separating the music from the artist in the case of R. Kelly, because it was refreshing to hear Sheryl's somewhat opposing side rather than the usual "I agree" chorus.

I am so sick of Will and Jada Smith talking about their open marriage for the billionth time. First they went on and on about all the hot sex they were having all over the place and now it's about Jada's "entanglement" with that rapper and Will entertaining the idea of getting a haram. Get entangled with a dozen rappers and get a haram with 100 women, 3 zebras and a monkey. Keep it to yourself already.

Yep. She said that if her church choir sang I Believe I Can Fly it wouldn't upset her because it wouldn't have anything to do with R. Kelly for her and everything to do with God.

I like some of R. Kelly's music, but I don't go out of my way to listen to his music so "canceling" him wouldn't be hard for me. However, I have mixed feelings about Age Ain't Nothing But a Number with Aaliyah. That song is one of the best 90's slow jams musically, but creepy and foul as hell from a lyrical standpoint. Especially since we know he'd groomed and married after that album was released. 🤢

Yeah it honestly varies for me. There are some artists that I find absolutely despicable, and I still listen to their work and others I don't. Usually for me it's more about making sure they don't get anymore money out of me than boycotting the work. I can't say I was familiar with R. Kelly's work. I was a 90s kid, so I knew "I Believe I Can Fly" but didn't actually put two and two together on him and the song until quite recently.

One that is telling to me about this discussion is it sounds like, at the very least, things are more pleasant on the set, and they feel comfortable disagreeing with each other and discussing controversial topics without fearing it will go nuclear, ala Sharon. And that's a good thing!

Tyra the nice gal was a persona for the masses.  Tyra is an attention seeking fame whore, I grew contemptuous of her during her time on America's next top model as the host and one of the judges. It was very eye opening on who she really is due to the way that she treated these young women who were hoping to become models.  She could have done something worthwhile to help them but she used it to make the show all about herself and her issues. I cannot stand Tyra Banks..
