That Twitter thing with Colin was my last straw with Sandy.

They all live tweet the show. Colin tweeted something along the lines of "Joao is being nice and supporti...aaaand now he's being creepy again." Sandy then decided to chastise Colin for calling Joao a creep, which he was. Remember this after they finished filming so she saw what a freaking misogynist creep Joao was, but she decides to clapback at Colin and call Joao a good guy. I don't need her version of the sisterhood.

THANK YOU!  That IS really lame.  I did go back and watch the entire season of BDM and I totally get the Joao loathing now.  He was a total creep.  I hate people that sing the praise of another even with repeated evidence they are jackasses.

Also wanted to add - I wasn't crazy about the new yacht.  It looked kind of dated to me, and the interior spaces for the crew seem very cramped (that galley was tiny!!).  The guest spaces didn't make me go "Wow!!!" either.  I wonder if the production company searched out a ship with smaller, closer crew spaces/quarters, in order to create some drama.

Even though NBC Universal has money and insurance enough to cover the loss of a boat, I suspect that they may not have had their pick of the ships because:

  • Production already sunk a crew ship last season;
  • Every season has at least one grossly untrained deckhand;
  • The reefs in the area are a lot more problematic; and
  • They filmed this season during the rainy season in Tahiti.

I really wonder why Captain Lee is friends with him in real life. Nope. Can’t put logic to it.

Devil's advocate - maybe Steve is playing up his ridiculousness, perhaps he's "Normal" in real life and is acting up for the cameras to make "good tv".  I say this as not a fan of him whatsoever but Capn Lee seems to be pretty picky when it comes to people he'll hang with. So I'm going to go with Steve being relatively normal off camera...

Ok. I’ll give that thought a try. I don’t think IRL he’d be able to drink himself silly like he does on these cruises and still hit aces in business.

I googled what Steve had on the back of the white shirt he arrived on the boat wearing because he said he had something like 17 bathrooms and found this.  Large beautiful home in Acapulco to rent (and I believe a spa). The testimonial displayed prominently on the first page was from Captain Lee, with his picture, (informing readers he was THE  Captain Lee from Below Deck) and he wrote in his review how fantastic the mansion was and how he and his family enjoyed their week there, etc.  It made me wonder if trips were traded for free-- which would be a nice perk!  I don't think Steve acts or drinks like he does while on vacation or he wouldn't be as successful.  And like someone upthread said, he could be putting on for the cameras since he didn't seem crazy drunk while jet skiing.  I'm so happy Below Deck is back!!

It was first thing in the morning so he hadn’t had a chance to get shitfaced.

You'd think!  On the other hand, the stews or deckhands were saying he still seemed drunk from the night before so who knows? I remember my college days when we'd get totally drunk or just a little drunk and play it up being silly so maybe that's what he was doing.

I've lived in the Caribbean and have seen what the reefs will do to you.  I can't believe he was riding so irresponsibly out there right by them! Crazy Steve brought the entertainment :)

I have no idea what she thought or felt about anything since it seems she usually had some elaborate costume hiding her face. Ahhhhh, maybe that was her plan to avoid permanent embarrassment for the rest of her life. No one will know who she was.

Chef adrian... i don't like flitty hippy boys like you, but... i could just eat him up!

he is totally adorable. And seems NICE. Where is his high-strung chef personality?

Love that the show is back.  Love the chef, he seems cool and very nice, so far.  I think just the panorama of Tahiti will be, for me, the best character on this season.

That Steve is an ass.

My god, when Captain Lee was trying to figure out where to anchor, there was one shot of the island in front of them and it was so gorgeous!!  I must have gone back and watched the shot about 5 times before moving on.

Seems to me she wants to be one of the gang more than she wants to be a captain. Inappropriate.

Sandy loves being on camera.  She gets involved in the personal drama.  She was over the top nasty to Conrad at the reunion.  Captain Lee and Kate have been solid since nearly day one, but he stays out of the b.s.. he has been consistent in who he is since the first season.

Yay that Below Deck is back.  Yay we're getting to see Tahiti.  Yay Capt Lee and Kate are back.

It looks like it's going to be an interesting crew.  I'm kinda liking Caroline so far but that may change.  Shssh.  Not sure about the deck crew and the bosun situation.

I wonder who got caught in the line and got dragged off the yacht.

Steve may have a lot a money but he just comes off as a complete asshole.

Caroline reminds me of me when I was younger. Wanting so badly to be seen that you choose the wrong times to interject when the cool kids are talking. Thankfully, I grew out of it. So far, I like her, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes.

I like Adrian. He seems sweet and focused.

That 'mansion' is as tacky ass as Steve is. Oy vey. Seriously, the interior looks like your basic Mexico touristo condo except with a lot of empty space in it. The pink and blue neon night lighting? Tacky. The menu? Tacky. More like the menu from a Mexican Riviera 'Chilis" type of place, not what I'd consider 5+ stars. The whole schtick looks cheesy and the type of place someone like Angela on 90 Days would consider 'lugJUReUS'. Not surprised given Steve's penchant for yelling like a stupid moron whilst being blotto drunk and demanding BUBBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a douchenozzle. Oh, and he's definitely oogling Cupid, no doubt about that.

Fiancée.

Yeah, I found the primary super creepy, and I judge Capt. Lee for being “friends” with him. His dopey open-mouthed screaming when “Cupid” showed up was blood-curdling. Steve, you planned that, remember? At least he’s a nice drunk, but still.

My favorite this year so far is Aiden. He seems sweet and talented, and I feel for him for losing his father. That had to be a rough time for him. It’s really nice to see a creative chef. I enjoy seeing the meals when they are well-done. It’s boring to me when the meals look boring.

I never thought I’d be happy to see Kate, but after Hannah, it’s nice to see an actual grown-up in charge. I think it’s interesting that Josiah has a background in butlering. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Caroline is so dramatic that she makes me laugh. Rhylee is beautiful, but I kind of have a bad feeling about her. I hope I’m wrong, but I have a feeling she can get pretty abrasive. Ross is going to be the guy who thinks he can do everything better this season. Those guys annoy me.

Ryelee is beautiful?? I guess I need to rewatch and take a closer look. But as the saying goes " beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
