She's got a very pretty face and she looks younger at 50 than I do...even if she got the look almost right, she'd get one thing wrong, but it would be so glaringly wrong that it would ruin the look entirely. I swear Michelle dresses like this less for religious reasons than just to be an attention whore. It's impossible to look at that photo and not end up stuck staring at Michelle. It goes back to her phony narrative about mowing the lawn in a bikini and defrauding her neighbor. However she can manage it, Michelle has to make everything about Michelle.

Yup, all of the above.  We've been discussing the Tin man monstrosity of the mother of the bride dress she wore at Jerick's wedding on another thread. Definitely was inappropriate for a summertime afternoon wedding.  She did tone it down for Jessa's, can't wait to see what she wears for Jin's. If only she would do something about that hair.  You would think by now it would have broken off & automatically become shorter.  I noticed Kelly Bates seems to be wearing her hair shorter & it looks nice but I never had a problem with her hair.  

I was wondering where Joy was in the picture  but remembered someone has to watch the smaller kiddos.  Do her & Jana take turns? I guess Jinger has been relieved of those duties now that she's courting or is chore leaving only allowed when you're engaged? 

I was surprised the leghumpers on the Lily & Ellie Duggar site weren't that nice regarding the Jessa & Jinger fashion tip video.  Maybe just maybe some of them are starting to see the light but I know I'm dreaming.

Bad feet I can understand and relate to. But some well-supported flats or even cute sneakers would address the problem and be 1000 times less objectionable than those clogs.

Veiny legs I can understand and relate to. But light footless tights or cotton leggings would address that issue and be far more appropriate for summer wear than the black tights.

Ok I get Michelle's ugly shoes. They look like some sort of orthopedic clog like nurses and people on their feet all day wear. Maybe she has bad feet or joints, so good that she's getting some support from real shoes instead of flip flops. The shoes are ugly, but make sense.

now the black hose? No clue. They have to be so hot and uncomfortable. She'd be better off in a maxi and some nude shoe liners of she's afraid of stink. You can get them for clogs that just cover the toe or have a sort of sling back strap in the back. If here enclosed clogs any kind of low cut sock works better.

Trust us Michelle, nobody is going to look up your skirt In a sexual way.

Now Jinger is more frightening. Everyone else is in a shorts flops tees combo. Buns and ponytails. Even Jana has a shorter but modest skirt. So why is jinger dressed like it is 60F outside and everyone else looks hot. Why long sleeves, long skirt, all that suffocating hair, etc.

Something is really odd ball off with Jinger.

Maybe Jinger is trying to disguise her massive weight loss? Very common among those with eating disorders. And maybe Michelle has varicose veins that she's trying to hide.

Yeah, I imagine she needs orthopedic shoes these days. There are lots of cute styles out there that don't look so clunky, even flip flops (I have a pair...my feet have always been as flat as a pancake). Yes, they're a bit pricey, but she has no problem whitening her teeth to the point that they're fluorescent.

Plus it seems as though people who are overly thin feel the cold much more than those with more "insulation". It may be that she still feels somewhat chilly even in weather that most would describe as hot.

A question: I often see the Meechelle mowing the lawn in a bikini story referred to here, but where did it come from? Did she really claim on the show or in an interview that she once mowed the lawn in a bikini and drove a neighbor mad with desire? And why did she tell this story, to make some kind of freaky moral point? Just wondering about the origins of the story and the reason it was told at all.

(Couldn't be Ben, he would've been in Kindergarten around the time this pic was taken.) The little girl in the gingham dress looks like a sad baby doll....in fact, I thought it WAS a doll. I think Michelle is clueless about fashion. I mean, LOOK AT HER HAIR. No sane person would look like.  And she has had professional make overs.  Clothes for photo shoots etc. The Duggars girls don't look crazy.  Their fashion might not be my/your choice but the girls look within normal. (Jill occasionally looks crazy and I think she is the one out of the girls that is truly a bit off)

 I think Michelle is just delusional and kinda lost in her own world. Her clothing choices and hair have been even more looney lately. Loosing Jubilee and this vile mess with Josh has put michelle over the edge and her clothes really point that out to the public.

I am sure this is what is going on with Jinger. I am always cold and I am not even particularly thin. I wear long sleeves even through most of summer unless I am going to be outside for a long period of time....like going for a run, the beach, or playing tennis. If I was going shopping or out to eat I would definitely have long sleeves on. I would rather be hot walking from my car to the store than be freezing the entire time I am walking around Target b/ the air conditioning is so cold. It is supposed to be in the 90's here next week and I can't wait. Maybe I will actually swim in our lake. Watch out neighbors. I will be wearing a bikini.

Could it be that Jinger has an undiagnosed hyperthyroid condition which could give some of the same symptoms?  I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on tv but I have a bit of personal experience with a whack-a-do thyroid.

As opposed to me, who is always hot. Days in the 90's literally bring me to tears of frustration because I am SO miserable and cannot do ANYTHING without turning into a worn-out sweatbomb. I have my refuge in the bedroom with the a/c set to 68 and the ceiling fan blowing on me, in shorts and a tank top, and stay there as much as I can. I revive enough to get a few things accomplished, then go hide there some more.

I am this way too. Whack-a-do thyroid plus general nature has me carrying a jacket or sweater everyplace I go. I feel my best when I step outside and feel hot sunshine on me.

I was thinking the same thing. I have rheumatoid arthritis & my feet (&hands) are all kinds of deformed but I manage to find shoes that are comfortable & nice looking. But like you said, they can be pricey, so that leaves this family out. (But agree about the teeth)  We all know she could care less about fashion & goes for the frumpy look.  I just can't imagine clunking around in those clogs year round. Same thing with the dark hose. She probably is hiding varicose veins but there has to be better alternatives (esp in the summer), even creams to hide them. The dark hose just draws one attention to her legs even if that isn't her intentions. 

I do understand Jin may be hiding weight loss & because she is thin, she gets colder faster.  It's just her choice of colors.  The drab beige, browns & grays the Duggar gals seem to be drawn to.  I think Jessa referred to them as "fall colors" when she was describing her favorites on the video. Have we ever seen them wearing pink or a bright blue?  I remember the blue dress Jill looked so nice in on one of the People covers - think it was Izzy's pregnancy announcement.  I commented it must have come from the People wardrobe because it was out of the ordinary for her.  I guess it's just to each his own kind of thing. Myself, I prefer bright sunny colors in the spring & summer.

They all lose weight during their courtship and weddings. I don't think there's any more going on than that.

Marigold and Churchhoney - you both make sense. It also makes sense that you'd never see at least the older Duggar girls in shorts or minis and tanks. Or short hair. Those things just aren't the norm.

I myself still feel uncomfortable in settings with a lot of alcohol and have no desire to go into bars, casinos, clubs, liquor stores, etc. I know I'm an adult married woman who can decide not to get smashed and wreck a car or cheat on my husband, but those places just still seem really really bad. It would just be weird.

Not to get way off topics - but what boggles my mind about the escaping Amish and rumspringa shows, is that the second they leave the farmso many of the them are in clubs, wearing bikinis, getting high, getting tattoos, etc. They have no reluctance to do the forbidden.

so back to the Duggars - I'd just like to see them wear appropriate clothing. Nothing skimpy, just safe, as in  board shorts instead of swimming in jeans, real sneakers when hiking or weight lifting, real pants when skiing, etc.

i totally agree with you on that. Seeing them wearing appropriate and safe clothing and footwear for the activity they are doing would be a huge step in the right direction.  They can still be modest...there's a lot of leeway for common sense.

I'm very well endowed, too. But when you only buy them in black or navy or dark brown and you buy them at least three sizes too big, they don't emphasize anything. I basically look like I'm wearing a turtleneck burqa. My family was never fundie, but they did a better job indoctrinating me into the modest-clothing mindset than the Duggars did for Jessa. ..............Personality of the brainwashed person must have a lot to do with how it lingers. Jinger may kinda go the turtleneck burqa route, I'm thinking.

I can imagine the discomfort in showing more skin after a childhood of being covered up. Even the Bates girl took baby steps, and who knows how long it took for her to be truly comfortable with the small changes.

I find myself on the other end now. Not that I dress immodestly at all, but as I age I find myself feeling 'less clothed' in a tank top, when a year or two ago I didn't think twice about it. And I really can't pinpoint why I now feel this way. Maybe I have an ole fuddy duddy in me now rearing its head.

I dress not to defraud, but to not offend. No one needs to see my Casper white skin, a necessity after a basal cell was removed 5 years ago (officially cancer-free as of about an hour ago!). It's also freezing in my corner of the library where I work, so I'm usually pretty well covered up. If Duggars wore jeans, I'd be considered perfectly modest by their standards most days (some tops might be too low-cut for them without a damn shirt underneath). Hell, Alyssa dresses more defraudingly (is that even a word) than I.
