S05.E01: The Few Who Dare

Quote

Sarah is deeply wounded and struggling to stay alive on the Island. Driven deep into its forest by Neolutionists and worse, she strives to make it far enough to rescue Cosima. Meanwhile, a recovering Cosima reunites with Delphine, but there’s way more going on this Island than Cosima imagined and Delphine can’t give her all the answers she needs. What is clear is that Rachel is now in firmly in charge at the right-hand of the 170-year-old founder of Neolution, PT Westmorland. Back home, Neolution puts the screws to Alison and Donnie in their hunt for Helena. The sestras couldn’t be further apart when they need most to be together.

Not a bad opening, given the story line. I really don't like the PT Westmoreland stuff. While there are billionaires obsessed with the idea of living forever and are sinking obscene amounts of money into it I think making that the origin of all of this was the wrong way to go. Make it the destination, okay fine, but not the origin. The village was super annoying and we've basically seen it before.

Loved Sarah refusing to leave without Cosima (for all the good it did her) and Felix trying to organize a rescue with two-thirds of the nerd squad. Whoever is in the woods is an experiment gone awry or a case study who ran for it. I've got to give it to Sarah, she's resilient. Not that this is the first time we've seen her survive awful situations before or think quickly on her feet but still.

"Tweedle-small and Tweedle-tall."
"Just ignore her."

Poor Cosima; ends up on Nutjob Island, barely alive, gets to reunite with the love of her life for about five minutes, and then gets stuck with Mud the daffy hippie. NGL, it kind of annoyed me that she didn't grab Charlotte and run with Sarah. I get her argument, to a degree, but she doesn't know what they want her for, she doesn't know how much freedom she'll have, and she doesn't know what Rachel's involvement is. She's taking a huge risk. Also I cannot believe she trusted Rachel to give her that shot.

Charlotte is fantastic ("this place is scary").

Donnie's joy at successfully contacting Helena via bird call amused me up until he ran away. Logically, yeah, he couldn't fight two armed men so going to find Helena was the right thing to do. But you can tell that Alison still has issues w/r/t Helena being pregnant and Donnie's bonding with her. So knowing that Donnie was right there, saw the attack, and didn't help her? "Helena was out murdering God's creatures and my husband abandoned me." Poor Alison, I hope they stop having her abducted.

Poor Helena, having to save Donnie's ass and getting impaled in the process. Here's hoping he proves more useful to her than he did to his wife.

I agree with making the origin of this as some "I want to live forever" summer camp off the mark, but the show has been meandering for a couple years now so I think they needed to root the premise somewhere. I feel like they had written themselves into a corner anyway and this is not satisfying right now. So we now have a Revival Island as part of the whole mystery of what's happening. Can they just get to the damn point already! Good grief already.

Honestly, Donny jogging away with the little rolling suitcase was such a classic Donny move it made me laugh. Those calls between him and Helena were great. Helena getting that stick in the belly freaked me out. As crazy as I think Helena is (and I love her to pieces), I'm worried about the baby, but I know the baby will be fine.

I am still amazed at the talents of Tatiana cause I forget that each clone is played by her; she plays each one with such nuance. I'll watch anything she does till the end of time.

I might need some more time to digest this episode and take in the reactions of my fellow Clone Clubbers.

The Neolution fake-cop Art's with is a total whackjob and I'm going to enjoy watching her go down, but I like the actress playing her. She's wound tight, even the way she blinks is harsh, and she seems genuinely threatening even tho I find her annoying.

I have horrible memory....Have we seen her last season? All of a sudden she's with Art in the car and I'm going are we supposed to know her?

Why are they keeping Delphine and Cosima apart? I mean, they responded to the outcry against killing her off, but they still want to keep her out of sight? Is EB unavailable? I guess I could accept that if it's the reason.

I am having trouble believing Rachel is suddenly a a "good guy"-- can't possibly be true.

I think she's definitely new -- and she's played by Elyse Levesque, formerly of Stargate: Universe and more recently 'Shoot the Messenger'.
But she (Detective Enger) definitely has a Neolution screw loose.

I liked the episode overall -- picked right up where S4 left off.

We haven't seen her before, no. Their first scene at the station had Art say he knew of her from her time in Vice.

I really wish they had just stuck with the clones being an experiment by some mega corporation, because the day we find out someone's cloned a human that's exactly who will have done it.

Evelyne Brochu had another tv show called X Company, that I think is over now but that's why she had so few scenes last season.

Apparently, Evelyne was a runner up for the lead in Orphan Black. I wonder if she could've pulled off playing so many women and how different her takes would've been.

Hey, new Evil Neolution Cop was Guinevere in the Camelot episode of Legends of Tomorrow!  She seems like a fun antagonist, but hopefully Art will get his revenge for the blackmail, gut-punch, and gun to his head.  Not cool, Enger!

Speaking of recognizable faces, the guy who showed up near the end to "escort" Felix away was just in the premiere of Dark Matter yesterday as Ryo's former teacher.  Good old Canadian-filmed shows using the same actors a lot!

Kind of a slow premiere since it seems like it was mainly setting things up for the final season.  Hopefully the Revival stuff will get more interesting and Westmoreland will end up being more then just your atypical "rich guy who wants to live forever!!" character.  Do like seeing Rachel embrace all of this.  I'm curious to see if there will ever be a shot at her joining up again with her "sestras", or if she is truly going to be a villain.  Also not sure what to make of this Mud character.

Delphine's exit was abrupt and definitely smacked of Evelyne Brochu only having a limited amount of time.  But I'm sure she'll be back.

Never change, Scott!

I'm not sure who I'm more worried for: Mrs. S. or Ferdinand.  I wouldn't underestimate either one of those two.

Poor Alison.  I know Donnie would have had no shot at taking on those two guys, but that still sucks for her.  But I'm all for more Donnie/Helena.  Those two are so hilarious together!

As usual, I kept forgetting that Sarah and Cosmia were both being played by Tatiana Maslany.  I really can't think of another actor; even great ones; who have been able to feel so different playing various characters at the same time like she has on this show.

Westmoreland seems to have an almost hypnotic effect on people. Rachel was already insane, but she was attacking left and right, willing to kill, planning to generate clones like lab rats and treat them no better. Now she's like a Stepford being and actually gave Cosima the cure.

Each season has taken time to get flowing, and I've sometimes had to re-watch more than once to get an overall feel, so I'm not judging anything yet, but I do have questions. The trouble I'm having so far is Neolutionists suddenly not willing or allowed to harm a hair on a clone's head. Has Westmoreland not had influence out in the world before? Did it take Rachel's "conversion" while being at the top to change the tone, at least, even if they still want total control? Were Evie Cho and her ilk (including Doctor Nealon) completely rogue? Who is on "the board" and what contact do they have with Westmoreland?

I can see how Cosima is intrigued by the science; Delphine seemed like she kind of was too, even if she didn't like the control. It just feels very different from what we've seen of Neolution -- well, last season in particular. Dr. Leekie seemed almost harmless compared to last season's brand.

Unfortunately, the Revival camp is giving me Lost/Others/Dharma vibes. Again, these are just early questions. They've brought things around before.

Edit: Please stop hurting Helena.

I think she was also filming a movie. But I think Delphine plays a bigger role later. I hope!

I'm confused by Delphine being back in Neolution. Didn't they shoot her?? I get that she'd be fascinated by the science, and that her singular focus is saving Cosima. But is she not actually a prisoner? Is Cosima? Charlotte? She also looked like she was under duress when talking to Cosima while the old guy was around. And if she's not a prisoner, why wouldn't the Neolution people let her contact Cosima?

Cults are so freaky. Charlotte is right: that place is scary.

There's no way Rachel is good now. I can't believe Cosima handed over the needle.

"I'm loon-calling Helena." Oh, Donnie. Lol

ETA: Does "Sardinia" mean something? It looked like Cosima/Delphine were speaking to each other in code, but I have no clue what they were saying.

She's a prisoner they're forcing to work for them. She probably has a bit of leeway but is still under their control (can't lock the door on the lab, isn't given much alone time with Cosima, etc.)

Then why didn't she say that to Cosima in the handful of minutes she had? I know the exposition was for us, but if Delphine is a prisoner in a freaky cult camp, why wasn't that the FIRST thing she told Cosima? "Be careful. These people are weirdos. The science is amazing, and we need to play the game so we can cure you, but don't drink any Kool-aid." Something like that. Especially since that WAS one of the first things she made sure to tell Cosima at the end of last season: The minute Cosima was mildly coherent, Delphine told her to be careful and the place wasn't safe. It feels like the show is trying to imply Delphine is shady again, and we (and Cosima) really should be past that by now.

-Sarah uses Kira for warmth. Trust me Kira, shaking them never works.

-Whatever fresh hell that feral monstrosity was seems to be this season's scientific death threat. Bit hesitant with that concept appearing.

-Well we've had Helena, Sarah, Alison, and Rachel held captive in unique settings. I guess it was Cosima's turn.

-Mud girl is adorkable. Tweedley doo da.

-Poop on a stoop.

-Just like that Maddie Enger replaces Angela. Art might grow to miss her pretty soon.

-What an impatient old man.

-Felix, drop the attitude with Ira already. As far as offenders to your livelihood go, he's pulled no punches.

-They'll see what gloms in no time.

-Maddie's brushing her teeth because she wants to make out.

-Oh, so that's how you want to play it, huh? Making out is off the table. Could've been the next Beth.

-Loon-calling the loon. *facepalms* Should've reacted faster to the warning. But Donnie picks Helena over Alison again, lulz.

-Man, these nameless henchmen are getting grating.

-Nice loophole, biotch. But Helena is not someone who shares back-up plans.

-"Maybe we'll all live long healthy lives". Well now I can tell you're not. :P

-Mythology 101 for Charlotte.

-Liked the callback to "we each have a role", even if I've hated Delphine's behavior in almost every season and find Cophine overrated. That part of the OB fandom is going to be pissed that she's splitting off again. But they should just be grateful that the chances of it ending in a tragedy like Sarah/Paul are zero percent.

-The guy with questions about the beast that ripped through there seems like a new character that could pop back up later as an ally.

-PT really got into Rachel's head. Difficult to say if this experience will redeem her, or if she'll be the one main clone without a happy ending.

-Speaking of happy ending trouble, baby on stick. A handicapped Helena is going to make killing the major players of this operation damn near impossible.

-Not to drag her name through the mud, but one has to one wonder how Mud was given such an important post to look over.

-Sarah came all that way just to be turned around and for a Rachel/Cosima alliance to form. Freaky tension there with that needle considering how stabby Rachel was just an episode ago.

-Can't dart her way out of that one. Rachel's change of heart will make the situation less fatal however.

-Next Week: Sarah/Kira clash over the decision that is made corresponding to her sketchy new guardianship. Plus Mika, only clone off the radar, surfaces.

I knew that the show was coming back, I knew what date, but for some reason, didn't put two and two together last night so I totally missed it. I just finished watching it, and I'm still processing the whole island origin story they're setting up. I guess they have to set up the origin story now, in order to complete it for this final season, so we're kind of stuck with it. As long as it makes sense and as long as it ends up to be more interesting than they're initially presenting it, then I could live with it.

Westmoreland seems...meh so far. But Rachel immediately being on his side is odd. I wonder what other "powers" he has, besides being super, super old. Maybe he can mind control people, or something to that effect. Or he really is that convincing and got Rachel, and that's their redemption path for her before her potential demise.

I get Cosima wants answers, rather than trying to find a way off the island with Charlotte and potentially being killed. I do think part of Cosima just wants to find the answers, and sticking around with ensure that. It is nice that Delphine actually got the ten minutes with Cosima, instead of being ripped away. I'm not really a Cophine fan (I like them, but that's about it) but their fans actually not having Cophine in now two seasons has to suck. But at least we know Delphine's alive and that they're still together.

The first thing I thought about Mud is that she seems super nice and friendly now, but what happens if she's provoked or something's done to threaten the harm of the village? Will she turn all Incredible Hulk (figuratively)? Because that could be neat.

I totally understand why Donnie ran off instead of trying to save Alison. She'd end up with one dead husband since he didn't have weapons, other than a suitcase, to help her. But man, the thoughts going through her head when she realized Donnie was gone for Helena were probably all vulgar. At least Alison has Art to help her out. That was a nice surprise that she was being taken to Art and his new partner. And having her being revealed as Neolution right off the bat was great. I guess they don't have time to play any games. I wish all shows realized this too.

Also, Helena's always been my least favourite clone, even below Rachel (which, I know, I know) so if her and even Rachel were sacrificed this season (after the babies are born, of course), then I wouldn't be mad.

Felix's atttude is...not very fun. He's kind of being a twat, in my opinion. I get Ira was connected with Susan and thus, semi-connected with Rachel. But boy, he's probably the least harmless enemy that you've encountered in five seasons.

Yay, I'm so happy the show is back! But I'm also sad knowing that this is the last season premiere! I was so glad to have the clones and others back on my screen, but I also hate when they're so separated and they are about as separated as they can get at this point. Alison is off by herself, Donnie is with Helena, Cosima is on cult island with Charlotte and Rachel, Sarah just got shot while trying to escape the island, Felix is trying to get shit done, Art is with his new Neo partner, and Mrs. S is in the wind. I know they need to keep the clones in separate orbits so that Tatiana isn't shooting every scene eleventy million times as different characters, but I love when this big dysfunctional family works together. Right now they're all scattered to the winds. Hopefully more of them will be reunited soon.

Loved Art and Felix together though. I was cracking up when Felix brought a pan to a gun fight and they were both so freaked out but relieved to see each other.

I hope Helena's babies are okay. One of the only things she has ever wanted was to have her own babies, so I hope she gets to give birth and raise them. Of course, that means that Sarah and company will have to completely wipe out the Neolutionists to make sure that they won't come for Helena's babies one day in the future.

Delphine annoyed me in this episode. You know you're getting shipped off for "research." You know that Cosima is stuck on this island. You know that she knows NOTHING about what's going on. You know you only have a few minutes to share any information with her. Get to the point and say as much as you can! Quit dilly dallying, lady!

No. She's obviously really going to Sardinia (or supposed to lie and say she is) because she said it with the old guy right there and he didn't react. I mean that Cosima's "Sardinia?" looked like it meant something to her beyond "an island off the coast of Italy," and Delphine looked like she was imploring Cosima to understand something. She also repeated something like her "we all have our part to play" line in a stone cold tone as though either 1) she'd suddenly reverted momentarily to her cold, straight-haired, season-three self, or 2) she was trying to communicate something else. Delphine's tone and posture changed momentarily. And it wasn't solely because the old guy was there. When she said, "this isn't what I want either," her tone was still a very familiar, sweet Delphine. It all seemed coded to me, as though "Sardinia" meant something larger to her and Cosima. It means nothing to me, however, which is why I asked.

Honestly this is one show that im glad is ending but that i still enjoy watching. They ran out of story and now i feel that this stuff doesnt matter its just excuses for clone interactions (or separations so that they can bring them together again later as like a climax)

All of the clones are completely different people still! Every episode i forget that there is only one person in the more than one clone scenes. My favorite stuff though is when one clone has to play another badly with their own stuff slipping through (i always think there is no way anyone would believe that this was the same person!) We didnt get that this episode but hopefully it happens more than once more to finish it off.

Donnie and helena scenes are always hilarious! Same with the donne and alison scenes (start packing mister!) He was so proud of himself for knowing the loon calls! Also emergency call! I can just see him thinking it will never be important when she was teaching him so he was shocked when she actually used it and he remembered what it was! Alison was also funny it just sucks that the three of them didnt get scenes together (ha).

The crazy science and conspiracy stuff dont matter to me anymore especially the experiment gone wrong out in the woods but if it helps facilitate more clone meet ups and clones pretending to be ther clones im game.

I still adore these characters and enjoy spending time with them but I seriously have zero interest in the actual storyline at this point. So are these the same Neolutionists like Leekey was? or is that now an umbrella term? I mean, it feels like they keep using the same name but change the motivation, the players and pretty much everything about Neolution. It feels more convoluted than complex. I honestly have no idea what happened. I just know I enjoyed Cosima and Charlotte, everything with Helena and the Hendrixes. Art is still great. I feel bad for poor Felix, he needs his mama back. I miss Mrs. S. This is a character show for me rather than a story I am following. I was a bit underwhelmed. Hope it gets better. I do want this show to go out on a high.

So Rachel has been rebooted for the umpteenth time; five minutes after her homocidal rampage fueled by psychotic hallucinations she's back and all like 'we're all in this together.'  No...  We need a plausible explanation, like that Dr. Moreau gave her an implant in his castle, and she better meet her death anyway the second Sarah has the chance, because how many times can the clone club fall for her bullshit?

If Neolution is really gathering all the clones together, then presumably that would include Mark and Tony, and probably other girl clones we've never seen before.

Before Sarah's phone call came in, I wondered if Ira and Felix were about to share some sexy time together; it would certainly be a fun pairing if Felix could drop the hate long enough.   I fully expected it to be Mrs. S walking in the room while Felix was cowering; we know she has some skills and wouldn't go with Ferdinand so easily.

Where is Helena's boyfriend?  I thought they had reunited at some point.  I hope we see him, and Cal again before the end.

This definitely wasn't as dark and fascinating as the S4 opening/flashback to Beth, but hopefully things will pick up.

I might be grumpy today but I was mostly annoyed by this episode. Sarah's plight in the woods was spoilered by the promo monkeys. The scenes in the Neolution (err... Revival) camp were full of people talking mysterious nonsense and the plot is in danger of getting way too convoluted.* Art gets paired with a new loathsome partner who of course is also Neolution-brainwashed. Helena gets impaled. Nobody catches a break (well maybe Cosima). Donnie running off with the trolley was the highlight of this episode.

* I'd like to see a doodle sketch that outlines how each of the following are connected to each other (chronologically and causally): Dyad - Castor - Leda - Topside - Prolotheans - Neolution (don't forget the bot) - Brightborn.

Me too! I zoned out on pretty much Sarah's entire plot this episode because it was mostly just running around in the woods. I know it's meant to be exciting, what's going to happen? what will she run into? blah, blah, but I just found it boring.

That list made me realize that for what I would assume was a highly secretive project there sure are a LOT of people/factions/companies/military types/hippy weirdos in the know.

I did roll my eyes when Art's new partner was a (one of the many different factions that are after the sestras) because of course she would be. Anyone who isn't a clone or relative/friend of a clone is apparently somehow connected to the baddies of the season. The one thing I liked about Angela? (his old partner) is that she had nothing to do with any of it and was just a cop trying to do cop stuff, much like Art was before he found out. I liked there being someone on the show who wasn't "in the know".

Seriously! Each season we learn of some new group or off shoot group or rouge group who were involved in the Clone project in some way. I've genuinely lost track and I'm looking forward to the whole mystery wrapping up. The longer they've dragged it out and thrown more into the mix I've gotten less interested in the origin of the clones. I do love the actual clones, Felix, Mrs S, and their interactions with each other more so than the origin story.

If a clone dies this season my money is on Alison, Krystal, or MK but I sincerely hope all of the clones make it out. I don't care if that isn't "realistic" or whatever, they've suffered enough. I want them to at least win that way, to survive.

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one bored by the endless conspiracies, with each nefarious group out nefariousing the last.  Like many of you the only reason I'm watching now is the extraordinary talent of Tatiana.  If her amazing ability to differentiate each character wasn't so interesting I'd have bailed on this show long before now.  The plot is silly.  The acting is outstanding.

I'm starting to wonder if Rachel really injected a treatment into Cosima. In a trailer scene we see Cosima get mad at Delphine for lying to her again, so maybe Delphine left her something else that Rachel wanted her injected with....

I don't know, I just doubt Cosima's out of the woods with her longest running battle.

well it seems that a lot of the groups must have united, at least that is what I got from crazed police woman's comment to  Allison.

I Found this running around everyone being gathered kind of a downer for an opening to the season.  Ihave been looking forward to it for so long.

Westmoreland seems...meh so far. But Rachel immediately being on his side is odd.

I thought the end of last season had shown that the Neo's were in control all along, but they wee split on what technology to back. Leekie and his group (including Rachael's mother) backing the clone tech and Evie Chow and her group backing the cheek bot implant. Rachael exposed Evie and her deformed baby factory hence ousting her, and Rachael meeting with the board saying that cloning was back on the table. So I don't find it odd that she is on Westmoreland's side if he is the head of the Neo's. I did find it odd that Rachael went from the island, to the mainland and back again for her speech to the crowd in the brief span (which looked basically like a night and day) that we were with Sarah and Cosima (unless more time passed).

OMG I totally forgot about all of that. Not that it matters. It ended up having no real impact on the story that I can remember. Much like that group Gracie came from, though they are the ones who knocked up Helena so there's that, I suppose. Right? It was them wasn't it? OMG so much has happened on this show and yet I feel like they have progressed so very little. A lot of running round very little to show for it.

I don't know...if the goal is to study life extension and one way is via the effects of cloning, Cosima may very well be on the mend. She's not out of the woods, for sure (literally! Ha!), but curing the clone disease is a means to that end. Plus, I firmly believe that Delphine's singular goal is saving Cosima's life. Her secondary goal is saving/protecting the other clones. If that means playing along with Neolution, so be it. Her working this from the inside has always caused the conflict between her and Cosima.

I really hope we aren't going to get a rehash of Cosima hating Delphine for keeping secrets or Delphine doing shady things without talking to Cosima. Haven't they both learned those lessons yet?? Delphine seems to be trying for transparency; despite the fact that I'm confused about her prisoner status, she freely gave Cosima more information in this episode than she ever had before. And I want to take Cosima at her word from the end of season three when she told Delphine she understood why she'd done it all. But yeah...I saw that preview snippet too and don't know what to make of it. I hope it's a misdirect because Cosima and Delphine are at their best when they work together.

It does seem like an awful lot of people are "in the know" about clones and/or genetic manipulation, but it seems pretty realistic to me that there would be various groups fighting for the top spot. Like Marion said at the end of season 2 -- if Topside wasn't making money off it, someone else would. They seem to have been just Leda oriented, however.

Neolution still confuses me since Leeky was both fully on board for cloning and had a bot implant. Nealon seems to have been only pretending re: clones and was really with Evie's faction. Maybe it's about genetic manipulation in general, and Evie's work had the green light but she got power mad and went off on her own agenda. She wasn't the first: evil Castor mother lost her mind as well. And now perhaps Westmoreland is shutting down the factions and re-taking control of it all.

I am still interested in the plot and where they're taking it because I don't doubt for a second that corporations/pharma/what-have-you would go too far given the chance. Gene-specific therapy for an illness like cancer seems revolutionary and amazing, but there's already more. Screening embryos for genetic disorders during IVF, before implantation, is maybe a gray area -- I don't really want to start the argument -- but people also already pre-screen for gender ... all this if they're rich, of course, which has its own implications. So while Orphan Black probably isn't going to change anyone's minds in the scientific community, it is a cautionary tale that doesn't seem all that wild in light of where things seem to be headed. It may exaggerate to make the point, but that doesn't mean the point is wrong or silly.

I seriously need a Big Bad Flowchart for this show. Was Neolution part of Topside? or are they two totally different entities? I forget who funded/started Leda and Castor. I just remember Castor went military and IDK what the point of Leda technically was. OMG I totally forgot what they are even fighting against, like, what each group wants from the clones. I mean, they don't want them dead, right, so what do they all want them for. Maybe, if my entire life was just this show I could keep all of this straight, but at this point I'm so confused I have given up even trying. I just watch for character interactions and pay no attention to the plot.

I can barely tell you what happened in this episode I just watched. I enjoyed parts of it, I know that much, but as for plot, no clue.

What did Helena say after she was injured? "I haf stick in baby"? The line, the delivery, the look on her face & the otherwise non-reaction had me laughing & laughing. Geez TM is simply amazing. And yes, I know. I already have my handbasket; I know where I'm going.

I also can't follow the convoluted plot but am here for the acting. TM, Donnie and Felix better find good stuff after this, so I can continue to watch them on my teevee.

I found a "family tree" diagram a while ago that linked all the players together and it was helpful, although I also thought "who the heck was that again"? I'll have to track it down and link it here. One thing that I'm trying to recall, especially as it feels like there's a whole group to keep track of, but who were/are the Proletheans? Is that the wacky religious group that took Helena or some Neolution associated group? Anyone remember who/what Dyad is? Topside?

Oh my head hurts.

A year or so ago, my friend and I worked out the following hierarchy:

Neolution

Topside

Dyad

It seemed to us that Dyad was just a lowly player, doing some research and recruiting. Topside was kind of the order-keeping, policing group. And Neolution was the top-dog. The various factions within Neolution fight it out across the hierarchy.  Our understanding was that the Proletheans were an outside group of religious extremists unaffiliated with the hierarchy, but I'm not 100% sold on that. The Castor clone group appeared to have splintered off at some point, broken with the hierarchy, and was headed by a rogue military group, rather than Neolution itself.

In other news, AH-HA! This recap explains the significance of Sardinia. Very cool detail, but if the writers' expectation was that the general public would easily understand the reference, I think they aimed way too high:

Close -- it was "… stick in belly."

I was thinking that the whole "Follow my lead" thing didn't come into play in the episode. That note followed by Delphine saying "We all have a role to play" made me think that she is speaking in code--something Cosima will recall later. Unless the sheet Delphine showed Cosima is, in fact, her lead she wants followed, but the note was placed in Cosima's bag before Delphine's encounter with the mother and child. I don't know, it's vague and cryptic as usual.
