What gets me is when they cut away from something happening to go to a call that they are still minutes away from and we just watch the officer driving, not even chasing someone. If they are racing to a burglary call and are ten minutes out, stay with the action until they are closer.

I suspect when that happens, they got too close to their FCC buffer, so they need to cut away to something safe/calm, while the Live editors review the footage and make sure it is safe to show (or at least bleeped when needed). It is annoying when it happens since it is clearly padding/filling time; but it is probably a bit of a necessity for a random live show like this.

I know this is old, but in defense of Live PD being live: I'm watching this episode right now and have rewatched that part several times. At first it was hard to hear every word because the officer kind of mumbles & talks fast, plus the suspect keeps interrupting.

I listened a few times,  put my headphones on to listen again, then checked CC to double check.

The officer says, "They were out here before I even g... (the suspect once again interrupts for a second, then the  officer continues)...They were out here before I even got here, okay."

When I heard it the first few times with no headphones and no CC, it did sound like he said "beautiful Friday night", but I think that's because he mumbles at one point and runs his words together.

The headphones really helped clarify.

I listened to the podcast "Running from Cops" which is all about how the show Cops was made and the last two episodes are all about Live PD. They make it very clear that show is not 100% Live and that the process of filming it involves sending crews out with police officers all hours of the day and night to get the footage they need, hence the "earlier".

I thought after that incident where a producer and/or camera person stepped in to get a small child out of harms way that the show started being delayed by about an hour or so.

Based upon an incident that happened in Richland County on Oct 4, I know that particular incident was aired on LivePd 45 mins after it was over.  I have a photo of them stopping the car with the timestamp.  My cousin and aunt were heading back to the hotel where it happened at.  They sent me a photo, stayed outside to watch the whole thing, then went inside and was able to see the it on LivePd.  It answered their question about what was it all about.

It used to be that it was delayed by 10 mins.  What started a bigger delay was when RCSD went to the scene where a man had been shot & killed in his yard.  The family claimed that they saw that on the tv and did not know it had happened.  They tried to sue everyone everyone over it.  They were just a few doors down.  Turns out, it was a drug deal gone bad (he was the dealer).

The incident you referenced did not cause the delay.  It was determined that she did not interfer, she was doing what any person would do to protect a child.  The cameraman never did anything but continue to film even during the schuffle on the ground and the guy reaching into his pockets.  That was the scariest thing that night.  I was so scared that Mastrianni was going to be hurt.

With the family that claimed they saw their relative on TV first, it was later established that the family showed up at the scene before the case was on TV.

It was just bullsit with the family.  Saw an opportunity to try to make money.  They were never upset with the newspaper or our local stations when they reported that it was a drug deal gone wrong and the dead man was the dealer.  They even named the dead man in the news.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe it was reported that they were just a door or two down.  They would have heard the shots, they were that close to the scene.

Sheriff Leon Lott don't play no games in this county.

I couldn’t (respectfully) disagree more.  🙂  I absolutely cannot stand them.  It’s just the same call all the time, it seems like.  People living in absolute filth and squalor.  I ffw’d when they come on.  Between that and the commercials, I can get through this in about 1:45.

I’ll miss Salinas and Lafayette.

Nye County’s predictability is part of it’s charm.  Salinas’ calls were all related to “gang activity”.

In Providence,RI EVERYONE is drunk but may or may not be driving or at a motel.

Anywhere in Missouri every traffic stop involves multiple vehicle issues including but not limited to no valid registration, insurance, driver’s license or even license plates.

Every vehicle in Texas and Alabama smells like cannabis.

The other night a stop in Nye County was on a decommissioned police vehicle.  Maybe you missed it, but it was LivePD gold!!!  The way the encounter was handled was SO vastly different than if it had happened in any of the other 11 counties.  For that reason alone I’m glad Nye is a part of the show!

Nye County was the case from last fall where the woman, and her adult son were being held captive by her other son, his wife, and their nanny, for the disability checks.     It turns out two deputies, and another person were fired because they found out about the situation, had two visits, and did nothing for the captives.   The person who saved them was a neighbor who took the woman in when she escaped, and demanded the police do something this time.

I have decided I'm never buying a used car.  I don't want to find out that I can't smell dope in it, but a police dog can.

My goodness, my old fave K-Law needs to get back on the streets. That's all I'll say.

Unfortunately it appears that he and MasT were just trotted out for the cameras. I don't think K-Law wanted to be there under those conditions.

Kudos to Nye for controlling their own tempers when dealing with the crazy puppy owners, whose message that the other dog came through a big fence hole got lost because of the yelling and threats.

I'll miss Lafayette because some of the citizens and police have the rapidly-disappearing southwest/Cajun-ish accent.

Captain Burt is my new fave. Nothing fazes that guy.

Lieutenant Brown just keeps on, steadily and efficiently working the streets. Do ya think he hates dope? (Sarcasm)

Most overused and least meaningful words in the English language: "I'll sue you..."

Going back to watching occasionally, with FF, because the bro-show is obnoxious.

Get a load of that idiot who got pulled over because his vehicle came up as a stolen vehicle. Then he goes on about how it's his vehicle even though he sold it to someone and actually gave them the title to the vehicle before receiving the full payment. Never sign over the title to someone before receiving full payment.

Thanks for the follow-up on that story. I saw that on Live PD a few days ago. I thought it really odd they didn't have 5 police cars and much activity going on, nor was the accused in handcuffs. The accused stood there with arms crossed high on his chest, flexing his muscles and trying to explain it all away like it was something reasonable. The officers were not reacting like this was a serious situation.

It's good to hear that the captives are now okay and things are going in the right direction.

I wonder what the producers of Live PD thought. THIS is the call that makes your show! Victims being rescued! Breaking news! Yet, it played out like some sort of domestic squabble. Rather than "OMG, people held hostage"!

The two patrol officers or deputies and the detective that were fired were on previous visits to the home where the people were held captive.      The neighbor that called in when the mother escaped had called police before, and it was ignored.    The mother came to her door, and this time the neighbor called demanded action, and the woman was in bad shape this time, so the officers did their duty.   I think the Sheriff showed up this time, and by the time the show aired the two captives had been take to the hospital for treatment (very dehydrated, and starving).    The arrest of the homeowner, his wife, and their nanny followed, and the District Attorney placed all kinds of charges.

I bet the reason the brother holding the captives wasn't in cuffs yet, is because a perp running his mouth is a perp making the case for the District Attorney.

I love Captain Bill Burt SO MUCH.  He is my absolute favorite of all time, and I'm so glad he's in my new favorite location, Missoula, MT, where the crimes don't seem to be overly violent, and are often committed by bears. I used to say I wanted us to retire and move to Rhode Island because the worst thing that happens there is people drink too much, but now I want us to move to Missoula where the police are mostly assisting people in some kind of mild distress, or figuring out how to relocate a wild animal.

I've grown tired of watching the same thing over and over in Richland Co., SC, and can only imagine how tired the officers are of pulling over traffic violations, no one has a valid license or insurance, smelling weed, bringing out the K9, getting a positive alert, searching the vehicle, finding weed, finding a gun, taking the occupants of the car off to jail. It's Groundhog Day every day for them.  It's been a while since the last massive teenage party with hundreds of kids running and yelling in all directions, getting in fights, trying to be cute for the cameras, etc....maybe it's the colder weather keeping them in.

I like Nye Co., NV for some reason that I can't explain.  Maybe just because it's so different from where I live in GA - I'm always struck by the lack of trees, the lack of housing that is not portable.  I wonder what it is that causes anyone to choose to live there.

Interesting that now all of the Golden Boys have their own spinoff shows, Live PD Cam, Live PD Wanted, and now Live PD Court.

In my opinion a lot of Nye County's appeal is the cheaper land and housing prices, because you can get a few acres, move in a few trailers, and either rent them out or move in a lot of family.    Plus, no state income tax, and I bet no emissions testing for vehicles (the Reno, and Las Vegas area require emissions testing).    The area has some interesting amusements too, and it's not that far to casinos.

The case where the car ran into the house, hitting the kids' bedroom was chilling.    It's a miracle that the children weren't killed.

I do miss the action in RCSD from the earlier days of LivePD.  Part of the problem may be Columbia Police Dept.  Columbia is in Richalnd County and sometimes CPD doesn't like RCSD in their "territory".  We haven't really had any cold weather in Richland County.  Maybe the crooks in RC have decided to wait till after the show is over to start their shit.  Who knows.

Neither can I. Or the man who attacked the man who killed his child. He tried to do his statement but ended up turning and looking at that man just a few feet away. Who smirked. I'd want to beat up both too. They also mention in both cases the fathers learned details in court that they hadn't heard before.

Oh and the idiot stalking the woman through Facebook who kept yelling he wanted her to tell him to leave her alone. She filed a protective order against you moron. That's her telling you to leave her alone.

On another note, I was happy to hear  that the great state of Tennessee executed a convicted killer on death row  with the electric chair.

Is it considered cruel to show video of that execution over and over to the other inmates?

The victim's families re-live details of crimes over and over. It would be fitting to remind felons that justice is coming for them.

Watching this show makes me despair for America.  Makes it seem like all the good economic news is a lie.  If there are fewer unemployed people, and workers are earning more, and more people are out of poverty -- why are we seeing so many homeless, hopeless, drug-abusing people everywhere?

The Friday and Saturday shows were pretty good this week.  The bears were a nice change, and there were fewer chases going nowhere.  Those are a waste of time.

Observational bias. But your conclusion isn't wrong...  the lack of mental health treatment in this country is one of the biggest issues. Another is that the criminal justice system doesn't work. There is no "learning your lesson" or "rehabilitation". It's a perpetual, spiral descent.

Did anyone else see the melee in Terre Haute tonight?     Traffic stop in front of what turned out to be the perp's home.    Then the perp's brother shot his mouth off, and wouldn't get away, so he was handcuffed, Then their mother waded in and had to be tackled by several policemen, and was handcuffed, then her husband had to try too, and he ended up in handcuffs.  The toughest one was the mother.    I believe quite a few adult beverages may have been involved, and I bet the county jail is a regular place where they have reunions.

I did! That was crazy. The mother was the toughest one. She simply wouldn't back down. Even when she was being held back. I was getting nervous with all those people there and with just one officer. When they mentioned in the studio how that can feel like forever all I could think was "no shit". There's no way to know how that situation was going to go. There were so many people and they were moving around a lot. Gathering around. The mother wouldn't stop. Then her husband got into it too. Its not to hard to see where the brother/son learned to shoot his mouth off. All four went to jail.

Did you see later I think it was Terre Haute again the two guys who were trying to sell a gun but the person or persons they were selling to pulled a gun and stole the gun?

Yeah Terra-Haut was incredible tonight.  I'm sure some folks will complain that he escalated it or something like that; but as they pointed out in the studio; the officer is 1 against the mob, and was just trying to do the stop and the people escalated it. It did think the officer may have gotten a hair aggressive when he told the guy to lower his voice but he (the officer) has better awareness of the situation than we have with the camera eye.

And yeah the mom there was certainly on something and way way too aggressive for the situation. Hell if you look up "White Trash" in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure those folks would be listed.

I do wonder if THPD will decide to pull out of the show given this situation. No-one did anything wrong (on the PD side at least) but I suspect people will complain about police aggressiveness and just say it reflects badly on the PD.

Anyways, besides TH, I just wanted to shout out to Nye County. Between the horses last week and the fireworks call tonight, I'm loving that officer. He's got such a relaxed attitude in general.

And Montana has such great scenary, and great weather; even in the snow. I would NOT want to be driving in a blizzard with flashers on though. The "FTL effect" is mezmerizing enough with just headlights. Add the light flickering like we saw on the way to the truck flip makes it all the worse.

Those dogs in the car that were pulled over were beauties. And way overloaded in that car. 🙂

Those people in TH are just pure trash. That situation in no way whatsoever should be called “police brutality”  the officer told the guy more than once to go away,  but of course for some reason certain people these days don’t know how to STFU and just do what they are told. These are the exact people that paint Police officers in a bad light to the public, by showing edited videos of the altercations but never the before story that led up to it.  It’s always SOMEONE else’s fault. I hope they all have a fun weekend in jail followed by heavy fines for that Jerry Springer brawl😊 Dan later stated that the cops pulled him over because the plates didn’t match the car, so it was a valid and Legal stop..... Also someone might want to check on that ladie’s husband,he looks like he’s been pregnant for 10 years.

Regarding the brawling TH family...

My fiancé called me towards the end of the segment. I’m not sure what he said at the beginning of the call because I was mesmerized by the TH show. I interrupted fiancé by saying, “I’m watching the most amazing thing right now.” And then tried to explain it.

I don’t think anyone has specifically mentioned that the entire family appeared to be much larger than the officer(s). I’m a big chick myself, and I was impressed at how agile mama was.

Did anyone take note of the fact that at one point someone was trying to hold mama back & and her shirts seemed to be stretching or ripping off of her?

Well they are doing their Top 40 of the year this weekend coming. And I suspect after the TH incident, they are going to do a Top 41 with this one near the top now. It (along with the fires episode of Live Rescue) was probably some of the most memorable events on Live PD this year.

She was extremely drunk according the police officers there.  Hopefully they got the family discount in court.

I really felt sorry for the child that was trying to pull "momma" back.  He had to stand there and watch all his family members arrested because they were too stupid to back away.  Trash is trash, no matter where they live.

No words for the guy in Missoula County and the carpet.  I really hope that Days Inn just ripped that carpet out and replaced it.  Just no frickin words for him.

I usually watch Live Rescue, not this, but I took a short break from work and saw the turmoil in Terre Haute.  The only thing I can add is that it looked to me as if the father in this crew literally threw himself down on the ground so the cops could cuff him.  As if going to jail would be a welcome little vacation from his daily family life--especially that battle-ax wife.  Can't really say I blame him.  Must've been fun there at Thanksgiving!  🍗🔪

The only thing that could have made the Terre Haute melee better is if they had tazed the lot of them.

From what Dan Abrams said is that the Live PD show was only ordered for a small number of episodes, I think less than 10.    Then it was such a hit the network ordered a full season, and it was renewed for the second season before they finished filming the first season.
