"The View": Week of 09/12/2016

CCB can relax. The grandkids are fine. HRCs pneumonia was the bacterial kind - not contagious, and she's on an antibiotic. Her BP, pulse rate and cholesterol numbers are much better than mine. I cannot believe we've come to this. With all the nefarious things going on with #Drumpf, the focus is on Hillary's fainting? CCB needs to wean herself off the r/w media. They are not her friends.

Sara Haines seriously thought actors have sex in sex scenes? How has she survived with this few brain cells?

I was appalled by her ignorance....At first I thought that she was being facetious, but, when I realized that she was being for real, I was truly stunned...Whoopie shot down her belief with aplomb...I don't think Sara will continue on the show for long..She is not a good fit...

Agree!  And I can't stand when someone (usually Whoopie, who the newbies suck up to the most) says something mildly amusing and Sara does that thing where she throws her head back, scrunches her eyes closed, grins like a Cheshire cat, then fake belly-laughs.   She adds absolutely nothing to the panel.  Nothing.  At least Jedidiah can string words together to form coherent sentences.  They're not sentences I agree with, mind you, but actual sentences nonetheless.

Whoopi was about to smack airhead Sara.  She tries to explain to her that they are acting and the guy just can't stop if they say "cut". Airhead Sara says "aren't there pills for that"?

I was a big defender of Sarah last spring, but, manoman, the things she has been saying this week are cringe worthy.  Guess you never know someone until they sign the contract.

And she replaced Michelle Collins. I know MC jokes sometimes fell flat(but hey so has 20 years of Joy's). At least Michelle was much smarter and more fearless in her opinions.

About the sex scenes: I have heard more than one actress and actor say that they can honestly get aroused during the filming of those scenes if they don't have much dialogue and if there aren't fifty cameras. One night on one of the talk shows, the host was giving an actor a hard time about an extra steamy sex scene he did in a movie. He said that quite honestly he warned the actress that he might become aroused when the scene was shot and he reported that he was very uncomfortable and nervous that she might be offended and so he needed to be honest. He said that she eased the tension when she told him that she wouldn't be insulted, she would take it as a compliment.

It was his first sex scene on film. And he said that by the time they got around to actually filming it, he was fine. That it was more like work than sex.

And darn, I wish I could remember who the actor was!

I didn't realize that the View was back to current topics.  I don't care that much about the show, but reading the current comments here is fun.

For some reason, Joseph Gordon-Levitt seems to have developed an odd accent which made him sound dumber when he was talking about Snowden.   I don't know if Oliver Stone is advocating for Snowden to get a pardon.

It was interesting that JG-L said that he made so much money from Third Rock that he can pick and choose what he wants to do.   I guess he didn't make much for playing David Collins on the 1991 Dark Shadows.  His parents must have made sure he kept his money.

I thought he sounded sweet, grounded and intelligent.  I can't wait to see the move, JGL sounds just like Snowden.

I’m glad Whoopi lost all patience with Jedi. Enough with the e-mail/Benghazi bullshit and enough with the double standards—they all pretend to be for the “little guy.” STFU, Jedi! She is rancid.

Was Candace trying to save face when they were talking about that clip of the classroom demonstration? Because I think the only other person on this show that’s more anti-woman than she is would be Paula. The Jedi would be next in line (remember her glee at criticizing feminists every chance she got last season). I don’t believe for a second she cares about representation for women.

The computer camera discussion… Not hot topics at their best. Everyone has known about that for years now.

It is funny how they no longer care about the health of the candidates now that Trump's campaign manager said he has a right to privacy and that bogus Dr. OZ interview after all that squawking they did Monday/Tuesday. Jedidingdong said the same exact things about HRC's emails three days in row. Insufferable. No counter point by Joy or Whoopi about Bush's 22 million deleted emails or Colin Powell's deleted emails. They are all asleep at the wheel.

Hey there! Long time lurker, first time poster (to this thread, not the site!) I must confess, I am a hate watcher of The View, as in I have really come to hate this show and I really hate myself for watching it. I basically stick to just watching the clips they post on Twitter  because that's all I can tolerate.

As for today. So all of the sudden Candace doesn't care about health records? But threw in that Hillary only released a letter. So did Trump! Remind me, has she actually come out and said if she is voting for Donald? I seem to remember during the GOP primary she wasn't that fond of him. Did she finally fall in line? And how does she reconcile supporting him with her faith? I swear she makes my teeth itch! Where is Sunny?!

Since the right wing believe that Hillary Clinton is the Antichrist, Candace will fall in line and support whomever, she is told to support.....

Someone should have told Sara that the only films/shows where the "actors" actually have sex is in porn. Although I'm not sure about that after having watched Boogie Nights."

And Joy or SOMEONE should have told her she wasn't cute when attempting to sing The Pointer Sisters' "Slow Hand" by replacing a man with a DOG, and that it could be taken as her being a fan of bestiality.

This seems to be a pattern with this show in recent years. Having someone as a guest host who seems funny, witty, or semi intelligent (Sherri, Raven, Sara, Chipmunk), and then making them permanent hosts, and they reveal themselves to be the utter ignorant, racist, bigoted nimrodic maroons they are. Let's just add Sara as the latest.

And what is it with Jediblabla wanting and insisting her NEED to know every.fucking thing about Hillary, but gives the Orange Orangutan passes.

Loved Joy's snark over how the color of his skin alone should be a cause for concern in addition to his obesity (per his BMI), and I rolled my eyes when Chipmunk, right on cue, defended him.

I also loved Levitt. He's still so adorable.

And I thought the Beach Boys sounded just fine. Could have done without the clip from Full House - as if that show introduced us to them, as well as Chipmunk implying their songs and music are "pure" and thus okay for her to like because they're so "positive!" BLECH.

Alas, I'm afraid we'll have at least Raven and Paula tomorrow.

ETA:

Oh and Jediblabla? Hillary Clinton has proven she's for the..."middle man" or whatever she said.  Why didn't Whoopi or Joy come back with "check her record." Or if that was too hard, throw in her face what Chelsea said about her, not only at the convention, but when she was on this stupid show just last week? Her public record for civil rights, women's rights, children's rights, go waaaaay back over 30 odd years. So she can just take a million, gazillion, SEATS and just STFU already.

I think airhead Sara was already among the utter ignorant before she was permanent but will add her now, with no problem!

Somewhere Michelle is asking " I got fired because they wanted this flake instead?"

Does any producer watches these shows after they have aired? Can't they see what we do? Guess they are too lazy to care.

Something bugged me about today's show.  they were talking about dating older vs. younger men.   Whoopi said she dated a younger man one time, until he asked her is Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings - then she realized she had to end it, told him to get out.

that line rang a bell.   I've heard it before - it didn't happen to Whoopi, I heard it as part of a stand-up act, from a male comic.  I thought when I heard it,  the joke was about a guy dating a much younger woman until she didn't know that McCartney was in a band before Wings.

Sure enough -  Whoopi stole that joke, from Billy Crystal   only , in the version linked, it was Crystal saying his daughter asked the same question.  I don't know if Billy Crystal originated it, the link was to someone reporting that he heard it from Crystal.   regardless, it was a joke she didn't write, and she told it as though it had actually happened to her.

I've heard it several times and NEVER believe it.  I think it's a lame attempt at a joke.  How many fans did Wings have anyway?  I'm going to start asking 10-year-olds if they've heard of The Beatles.    And Whoopi...stealing from a friend?  That's low.

Third Rock from the Sun is still in syndication here and there...and in foreign countries.  It's also available for streaming.  The cast et al's checks roll in on a regular basis...long after his parents had any control over his earnings.

Thank you, @backformore, for pointing out the Whoopi/Beatles joke. I knew I'd heard it somewhere before as well. Billy Crystal used it for years in his act and SNL used it in a skit. You are also correct, @Former Nun, in that it may have been a "stock joke" among stand-ups. It is also attributed to Martin Mull and may have started out as an urban legend. Anyway - Miss Whoopi would raise holy hell if anyone stole her material but it's okay if she does because,  hey! - she's a stah, baybee!

So I'm assuming Raven or Paula aren't there, and haven't been all week.

They can deny all they want to that there is no Michelle Collins treatment going on, but it's so much obvious.

Hopefully CCB will be gone next week, or if she is there that means they must be trying to honor her contract and use all her appearances before getting the Michelle Collins treatment.

What the hell is Whoopi doing there on a Friday! Did they put it in her contract for this season. Her smirk face and bullshit attitude is ruining the Friday Joy moderator day.

Also is the show trying to make her cute by the opening with Whoopi holding yellow flowers!

Do you mean Joy is the moderator today? Or that Whoopi's presence means that we no longer have Joy as Moderator Fridays?

10 minutes ago, rcc said:

Today Whoopi is the moderator. Paula, Joy, Sara and Raven are on the panel. Joy is not the moderator on a Friday. I hate that! It's supposed to be her moderator day unless they've changed that.

I wonder if this is something Whoopi asked to be changed in order for her to remain with the show, since Joy being a moderator was so highly received/loved. Because I've learned that she doesn't like anyone being praised over her; unless it's Bawawa.

Raven is so stupid. Yeah, let’s not go there, Raven, it’s only another recurring example of his sexism, that the only compliment he can give his own daughter is that she’s pretty, screwable, attractive to men, etc. But, no, let’s not go there; let’s give the misogynist a pass. It’s not like he’s been getting passes regularly or anything. She needs to take her stupid antics back to the Disney Channel if they’d even want a has-been like her anymore. You can tell Joy can’t stand this overgrown brat any more than I can.

I am a Sara fan...my sweet innocent golden retriever.  I am NOT a fan of their birthday celebrations, so I hope this one is low key.  It's 8:45am here and The View doesn't start until 10am.

It's about as low-key as you'd expect on The View, LOL.

P.S. -- You quoted me up-thread.  @backformore commented about the story being Billy Crystal's & I said:

"What a surprise, The Whoopster is a plagiarist!!!"

Not a big deal, but I don't like taking credit for someone else's contribution.  LOL.

  • Love 1

They only had a little thing at the end, FormerNun. Nothing overblown like Whoopi's birthday or Raven's birthday. You can tell the person by what they demand of the show for their special day. Whoopi and Raven's egos are huge, so I'm sure they'd like to have 3-hour specials, but there's only just the full hour to fill.
