Here'a what I think happened: Jed was fired at the end of season 20 and was not supposed to return for season 21. Meghan was going to replace her. However, Meghan's deal wasn't done in time for the start of season 21, so Jed was a placefiller until they got Meghan's deal done. This is the only reason of why they would get rid of a cohost 3 weeks into the new season.

I thought it was pretty good. It felt like an episode of a comic book show, not a soap opera. How many times are we going to be subjected to every episode ending with Barry and Iris sitting on the couch making out or delivering borderline wedding vows to each other (or in any conversation, rather)?

I don't feel sorry for BW. She is the one who opened the door to this by hiring a Playboy playmate (Jenny), a reality star (Elisabeth), and a complete idiot (Sherri) to be on this show. Then she hired the most unqualified and egotistical person to lead the show. She should've stuck to the original format and made the panels more like the Meredith/Star/Joy/Lisa panel. Now that was a panel with intelligence.
