Ever since the camera crew went away the TTH seems constantly full of junk, and it's a huge house. The hosts of Hoarders are going to find a Lost Girl's skeleton in 2020.

"Oh my goodness! I did wonder whatever happened to little Jeorgette. Or wait -- that might be Jloria... "

Regarding the Subway pic. Jill and Derick most likely have no idea that a former Subway spokesperson has a child porn connection. When asked in an interview about her favorite nursery rhyme, Jill couldn't come up with even one. She had no exposure to nursery rhymes. This is a young woman who has lived her life in a fundie bubble - sheltered beyond belief. She no doubt has seen and eaten in Subway, but as for Subway advertising or Subway in the news, forget it. If the two of them were trying for an endorsement deal with that photo, it was simply an unfortunate choice. However, I think it was a cute Izzy moment they just happened to catch.

Jill and Derick do have a tv. What happened to it and why aren't they watching the news? I couldn't imagine not being able to watch news 24/7 like I do. I always SMH when people say they never watch the news. It's like you never want to know what is going on around you hence why I do think Jill has no clue about Jared and Subway.

I'm sure Jessa googles herself every hour or so. Jill probably does every few days.

FWIW I hardly ever watch TV news - but I do read news and blogs almost every day. Much easier to get indepth info on the stuff I care about that way.

I don't think the Duggars keep up on the news, and they probably have never heard of SNL. I'm sure they have checked it out by now though, due to the comments. I really think Jill, unlike Jessa, still follows the house rules. She continues to live a life in the Duggar bubble by choice or habit. I think she believes what has been preached - that their being on TV = missionaries, and negative comments and feedback are by the poor and uniformed who she hopes to save.

Jessa, I believe loves the attention, 'fame' & money, and if she saves a few - "yeah for me".

Like JoanArc, I seldom watch TV news. It is much too sad & negative. I prefer to visit various online sites to catch headlines and fully read what interests me.

What I don't understand is why this is the hush, hush, fake going away party, shut down social media blackout event. I mean, Jill's sister is having a baby within the next few weeks and Jill is...technically... able to deliver Baby Brimstone (personally, after the Izzy fiasco the only thing I would trust Jill to deliver is coffee from the starbucks run), so it makes some sense for the Dullards to stick around. Frankly, I don't feel like the Duggar girls are as close as a lot of siblings I know, but since they weren't really allowed to have friends, Jill's all Jessa's got. Why no one is telling them to make a statement that Jill is staying to help her sister and the three of them will be returning to South America on Nov the whatever for 6 months is a huge mystery to me.

I've noticed that it takes a about a week and a half before the latest morsel from the Duggar camp gets debunked widely enough that People feels forced to say something. If I were TLC, I'd probably make sure most of the stuff in my special was brand spanking new.

There is a lot of information on the Internet about the tax laws for non-profits. Basically, the directors of a non-profit can't use the funds for their own inurement or for their relatives.

For instance, you can't just expense airline tickets because you want to go to someone's wedding. Also, if directors are also employees of the non-profit, they can't receive a disproportionate share of the revenue. The Dillards will have to demonstrate that every penny they spend is for the legitimate work of the ministry.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-tege/eotopicc90.pdf

What is at stake for them are fines, penalties, losing non-profit status, and NEVER being allowed to be on the board of directors of a non-profit again. ZIP! End of game. Career Over.

It sounds like they would have been better off going with go fund me instead. I don't think you have to pay taxes in that and you are freer with how you spend the money.

I can't even say what I want to about the Izzy picture because I'll probably get banned from the forum, but um, he looks exactly like JimBob and not in a good way.

Poor little guy has looked like Jim Bob since birth, I think. ..But, I suppose, as long as he doesn't grow up to act like Jim Bob, that'll be bearable.

Don't grow up to act like Jim Bob, Izzy.

Hilarious!

And to fundie males, apparently a Stage 5 Clinger is a ginormous turn on.

Maybe. But can you really tell that for sure before marriage? Especially when your courting/dating time is pretty short and you aren't living with the person (or anything close to it). I think the jury's out on whether Jill's level of clinginess was something Derick sought or not. They really had little in-depth knowledge of each other.

It sounds like they would have been better off going with go fund me instead. I don't think you have to pay taxes in that and you are freer with how you spend the money.

With gofundme I think it depends partly on how you intend to use the money. And since they intended to use it for missionaries' salaries, and they're the missionaries, I think it might well be deemed taxable. .... I've heard that gofundme is a tax gray area about which people shouldn't get too comfortable.

And  on the fact that nonprofit funds can't be used for the "inurement" of people. Well, that really doesn't apply to their nonprofit. "Inurement" means siphoning the money away from the nonprofit and its functions. And since their nonprofit simply consists of two missionaries -- whose salaries are a legitimate expense, and in fact nearly the only legitimate expense of the nonprofit -- putting the money toward the missionary salaries would not be "inurement." Now, an argument could be made that they're paying themselves salaries that are too big and generous and that they're not working enough at the nonprofit to merit salaries of that size. But that's much more of a judgment call and bunch of detailed parsing that IRS is not that likely to get into.

Seriously, though. The Dillards have been pictured eating at Subway, P.F. Changs, and Panera just in the last few days. Being a missionary must really work up an appetite!

Aaaa, they're just trying to keep up with Jessa and Ben, whose money is coming from .... uh ... Where is their money coming from again?

These people truly baffle me. All of them. ... Or course, I guess the rest of us tend to think of kids' college funds and money to take care of ourselves in old age. Whereas I guess they don't plan to send their kids to college and will also expect those same kids to stay home and care for them into the grave. So spend spend spend!

We also think of all the work we did for our money. ... Not sure what the Duggars think of, since they've just hung around in front of cameras for theirs.

I can't help but think that someday they'll have to consider money and its sources and purposes more seriously.

I can't judge Derrickdillard for wanting to eat. .he needs a few really good meals! Why do i picture her chasing him around the house constantly looking to be "big pregnant" again and him losing weight so he can hide behind trees, etc? Or her "working him" so hard he can't gain an ounce? What happened to Anna likely scared Jillymufin into nympho-mode to save her marriage. Edited by MarysWetBar

I can't be the only one in the world thinking that I'd never, ever, EVER let a baby suck on the bottom of a plastic take-out cup from a restaurant...

I've worked at four different restaurants and one hotel, all of which had to-go cups out in the open for just about anyone to touch. There are a hundred hands touching that cup in between manufacture/delivery and reaching the consumer. And then there's the table...

Good thing Izzy is probably totally impervious to any germ-related illnesses because he's a Duggar ! Constant exposure = immunity ???

That poor child.

I don't know anything about GoFundMe, but back when I was newsblogging I had a friend who supported himself by fundraising via Paypal. Unless you actually offer a product in return for 'contributions,' they're considered gifts, and anything up to $12k/yr per donor is tax-free.

See, I think they know about SNL. These people are on the cover on People magazine. 10 years ago might have been a different story, but they are no where near the level of isolation anymore. At the very least, I think a friend, or lawyer or someone might have said hey as an FYI there was a skit about Josh

I think the marrieds have to know about the skits, at the very least. Derick and Ben grew up more mainstream. They would have to be completely NOT using the internet to avoid it.  There was an article on Yahoo about it! And they might have a google alert for 'Duggar'

I really see a sadistic characteristic in both Derick and Jill.  I'm thinking about the cat incident with Derick and the forced dress redo for Jana from Jill.  I think that not only do they think that they are all about God but that God is all about them entitling them to money, gifts, fame and treating others however they want to.  If I had a young child I wouldn't let them babysit a child of mine for five minutes.  They feel they are superior and can treat those they view as not as entitled as they are any way they please.  After all it's God who is rewarding them with other peoples money, fame, and gifts because God is so into them and they are better than others. Jill and Derick have kool-aid, bad kool-aid running through their veins whereas I see Jessa and Ben having the kool-aid running through their brains.  I might let Ben and Jessa babysit for five minutes but never Derick and Jill.

I'm not so sure. It was clearly Ben who aimed him right at the cat and gave him a mighty push. If either one was the main driver of that little incident, I think Ben was at least at much at fault and maybe more so -- he didn't have to give him a mighty push. However, I kind of think it may well have been one of those things that neither would have done if left to his own devices. But there was pretty clearly a bunch of Duggars behind egging them on because they thought it was hilarious to cause feline mayhem. To my disappointment, it sounds to me like Joy who was having the most hilariously sadistic great time at the cat's expense. I wouldn't bet on either Ben or Derick being a driver of the sadism. I haven't seen evidence of that elsewhere with either. But they're followers and hanging around Duggars asks for sadism if you're going to fit in, I think. And Ben and Derick are both very hungry to fit in. To me they're like two sad little eight-year-old boys awkwardly trying to be just like the cool kids... who are jerks. Stupid to be that way at their ages or to think that the Duggars are cool. But there it is.

I'm in wholehearted agreement with your entire post, Defrauder, but you had me at the first two sentences !

The whole thing with the dress redo with poor, meek, compliant Jana was heartbreaking and just so freaking mean, but it was CatGate that really made my blood boil. In my mind, anyone who ever hurts an animal (or tries to) intentionally is immediately evil to me. Pure evil.

If someone was to ask me what I like to do for fun, I'd say I love to travel, explore new restaurants, go on nature hikes, play pool, bowl, play with my dog, snark online at PTV, and go dancing to really bad/awesome 80s music.

If you asked Derrick the same question I doubt he'd ever say "I like to scare helpless animals with the possibility of imminent physical harm and possible death. Oh, and do it in front of my wife's entire family while grinning like a fucking idiot", but that's EXACTLY what he did...

For "fun".

I think he and JillyMuffin are going to get what they deserve with all of the "mission" shenanigans. EXACTLY what they deserve.

Edited to add:

I'm not so sure. It was clearly Ben who urged Derick to get on the cookie sheet, aimed him right at the cat and gave him a mighty push.

I should have noted that as well, Churchhoney ! I'd paint BOTH of them with the same brush ! The evil, evil brush...

I didn't know that Bin was a part of the cat incident, I never watched it I only read about it.  I knew if I watched it I would be too furious.  Bin was probably showing off in front of Derick and visa versa.  Anyone who thinks that harming an animal is cool or funny is sick and sadistic.  Had no idea Joy was a part of it.  Cross her off my non sadistic list.  Well just think these are people in charge of raising their own children as well as their siblings, I can only imagine how they treat them.  I guess they learned to be sadistic from somewhere so it goes up the line I imagine starting with JB and Michelle.  Plus you can't expect children who are not yet adults to raise other children because they often haven't learned the true value of compassion that often comes with maturity.

Yep. All of this. .... I think Bin and Derick were clearly showing off for the whole Duggar clan and each other.  Derick sits down on the cookie sheet and even though he's on a snow-covered hill that he could certainly slide down without a push, Bin pushes him right toward the cat so hard that Bin falls on his face doing it..... Meanwhile, Duggars are urging them on with tons of sadistic laughter. It's kind of like a fraternity initiation. Don't ever watch it. The involvement of so many kids makes it even worse than it sounds when it's described.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to calling them sadistic. Hurting animals is evil, but sadism involves an active wish to cause pain as well as taking pleasure in causing pain. The idiotic shenanigans with that poor cat looked more like a bunch of childish morons with no clue and no true capacity for empathy, egging each other on without once thinking about the possible consequences of their "game". I think in this, as in many other Duggar situations, it's the inability to imagine or care about the well-being of other living creatures that was the cause, not a true sadistic compulsion to cause pain.

I don't want to watch any videos but can someone elaborate on this cat incident? PM if you want. I already think they're gross and creepy for a number of reasons, but never really saw them as abusive toward animals. Though I guess I could see it, considering I don't think we've ever highlighted them having any pets...which in a way strikes me as odd cos kids usually love animals, and with all the "love offerings" and whatever crap JB does for money now (maybe their rentals and stuff, or home flipping?) you know they could afford to have some dogs or even have their own farm. I just don't see the Duggar clan being responsible enough to care for them properly....look at the Howlers and all the little J girls.

Well, c'mon over and sit by me on the Bus to Hell, Defrauder ! They ARE evil - maybe not Hitler/Manson/Bundy evil, but I think they are all missing the empathy/sympathy/kindness/humanity gene despite their "best" efforts to the contrary !

As for the babysitting, thank you for the vote of confidence, but I'm not good with the little ones ! They do that thing where they appear to have become absolutely boneless and slither out of my arms and that makes me nervous. But I'd happily sit for any that are older. Or dogs. Or cats. Or plants.

On another front, I was just thinking - the last time I took a vacation, an admittedly selfish, self-absorbed romp on a sunny beach filled with fun, sleep, booze, actual joyful sex, more booze, and stuffing my face with seafood, I think I did more for the locals, their economy, their community, and their charitable concerns than Dill and JillMuffin do on their MISSION trip ! A sponsored, paid-for MISSION trip !

Not humble-bragging here, seriously, but my money went to local businesses and employees, the local library, the local church (nice folks at the PresboLuthiTarianOlic outfit !), the local animal sanctuary, and the local beach preservation group. Sure, I was Queen Hedonism, probably defrauding the Hell out of everyone, but I did more than pour money into a pseudo-religioucation organization (and NOT the actual residents !) that I had surreptitiously jacked from my family, friends, and "fans" in order to perform meaningless skits in front of baffled locals who are probably quite comfortable with whatever religion that have or don't have currently, thank you very much...

The more I think about it the angrier I get ! Jill is getting more grifty, more cunning and calculated, and more Michelle-esque pop-eyed to me with every passing minute. Derrick might be, ostensibly, the Headship to her Helpmeet, but I think she's in charge of HIM, JimBoob is in charge of HER, and Meeeechelle is in charge of all of them.

Michelle is the breathy-voiced, eyelash-batting Queen Bee of them ALL. And she gave birth to (almost) every one of them !

Meh. Double meh. A pox upon them all...

Unless one of those animals bit a kid unprovoked, dropping them off at shelters once they stop being cute and entertaining is truly awful. That makes this momma of a 20-year-old cat mad! Grr!

If any of their kids ran away, even the ones who are underage, I would bet they could easily secure housing and necessities...really anything they'd need if they contacted any tabloid mag and were willing to spill on what being a Duggar was really like. It could still happen someday, at least one of them is bound to rebel.

That's a shame. I really have no respect for people who can't treat animals kindly. Tells a lot about a person. I might sound a little crazy, but if a guy can't accept me and my timid little ex-hoarder-house dog, Sprocket, who's terrified of everything then he's not worth it. Luckily my current guy loves my pup and (surprisingly!) Sprocket likes him too, and he will actually go sit with my boyfriend and cuddle for hours. It's adorable!!

I was trolling the blog and found this post dedicated to Columbus Day. Derick really has no clue, but at least I guess he didn't call his audience horrible sinners like Benessa tend to do, so yay?

One common fallacy in this “post-Christian” American movement is that the Bible and Christianity is a passing fad from a culture of yesteryear

...which is why I'm every bit as devoted to the Pope as Ferdinand and Isabella were when they drove the jews out of Spain and stole their money to pay for Columbus' trip, inadvertantly delaying the all-important founding of the state of Israel for centuries while... Anyway, um, gay people in bathrooms!

I, too am an animal lover, but I would not put catgate in the sadistic category. It was group thinking and stupid.

I don't think the Dillards are evil either. Again, stupid, yes, but not even close to evil.

When I look at the daily headlines I see a lot of sadistic & evil things. Too me the Dillards fall more into the narrow minded, judgmental, under-educated, & conservative, etc. category.

Listening to the Democratic debate in the background, I would love to see the Dillards and the Seewalds have a chat or two with these potential candidates though.

I know I won't be watching the cat video.  I'm sticking to my analysis of the Duggars & clan as being sadistic.  Humans, according to their beliefs are sinners but have redemption and forgiveness for believing in redemption and forgiveness so basically they can do whatever they please and they'll be forgiven for it.  They've had pets apparently but they don't get TV time.  In 14 kids and pregnant again they had a bag of Shep dog food in the pantry, who knows how long the dog lasted.  I don't think the kids are allowed to complain about being treated badly by a sibling if they were the buddy system would collapse like a house of cards so I think the buddies have a lot of power over those they are in charge of.   Plus when you are 'trained' to believe that being hit by a rod is for your own good well you're 'trained' to believe that it's pleasing to God to 'train' others as well in the same way.  Complaining and being anything but happy is not allowed.  I don't buy the TLC fantasy of a happy and caring family and not only that I think that yes many of them are 'trained' to be sadistic although they are taught that it is right and for their own good and it's loving to save someone with the rod from their evil ways.  Josh turns into 'the biggest hypocrite EVER', with a heart of Satan, according to his confessions and the Duggar clan can lie about who they are and how they feel because they were 'trained' not to be honest but to always be happy.  If they're not honestly happy they have no choice but to be hypocrites.  In reality they are being 'trained' to be liars.

I was trolling the blog and found this post dedicated to Columbus Day. Derick really has no clue, but at least I guess he didn't call his audience horrible sinners like Benessa tend to do, so yay?

Thanks for the link.  Read his blog, he's so stupid I can't stand it.  Weird how they are more obsessed with the Old Testament than they are with the New Testament.  I'm sure that would make Jesus proud. They're so stupid it's unbearable.

Seriously, though. The Dillards have been pictured eating at Subway, P.F. Changs, and Panera just in the last few days. Being a missionary must really work up an appetite!

Maybe they are missionaries to fast food workers.
