ClareWalks July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 "We had to eat fast food" is a classic My 600-LB Life excuse. Funny that Whitney uses it, too. It's a horrible excuse. I eat fast food frequently and can find healthy choices on almost any menu. Even McD's has salads and grilled chicken sandwiches. 13 Link to comment

Any other days could be devoted to her doing a serious meal prep. She could make a mess of veggies and grill up a ton of chicken in one day that would last her all week. There is no reason for her to be struggling with food choices. It doesn't have to be perfect all the time but it needs to be a bit damn better than giant cookies. Im the worst if I don't have my meals lined up for lunch and dinner. Every lunch and dinner loom exactly the same. Do I love it? No. Does my scale and my trainer? Yes. My decision making skills go bonkers if i dont have a clear idea of what im eating but I'm still not chowing down on KFC and giant sweets. Why can't she get a salad at Chipotle or a Baja Fresh if she must stop at a drive thru? Better options do exist. She does need to sit with a therapist because I feel she knows what she's doing to herself and is powerless to stop it at this point. She is addicted. There's no shame in saying you need help. THIS!!! This really emphasizes how bad what she is doing is and how easy it would be to do better. She could be the "Jared" of Chipotle (hopefully without the child porn conviction). I bet if she ate a Chipotle burrito bowl twice a day, making sure to skip the sour cream, cheese, and guac, plus some veggies or fruit for snack she would lose a ton of weight. It's not that Chipotle is such diet food, but it's so much better than what she's doing now that it would be a huge improvement. Edited July 28, 2016 by 3girlsforus 8 Link to comment
Tipsymcstagger July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 Long time lurker on this board and I just have to say that this is my absolute favorite board on this entire site. Soooo many great comments/commenters totally in synch with how I feel about both this show/Whitney and body/weight issues in general. Thank you all for giving me something to look forward to at work :) That said - as someone who's struggled with eating disorders...I'm 5'5 and at my lowest I was 100lbs and at my highest I was 170...and was a competitive athlete all through my younger years (swimming) - everything about Whitney and her no BS 'platform' makes me see red. I have never seen anyone so completely unself-aware claim to be a spokesperson for such a important cause. In fact - I've rarely encountered anyone as unselfaware - period. She literally embodies every single awful stereotype about fat people out there...lazy, entitled, slobbish, unattractive, and gluttonous as all heck. Every episode I'm beyond mortified for her. She is the absolute opposite of fabulous. And I've gotten to the point that I think every single person in her life (outside of Will) has completely failed her and am beyond appalled that they think this 'reality' show is A-OK. Unbelievable. She is on the fast track to early death and the scariest thing about it is that she is completely non-plussed about the entire thing. I liked her parents initially but I'm liking them less and less as the season progresses. I didn't watch the first two seasons so I never saw any kind of initial 'fabulousity' but it sounds like she's becoming less and less likeable as the years go by. I hate that TLC has become the playground of dysfunction. Of all the major networks...I really think they are the most grotesque. It's like they're the carnival barkers at a freakshow ("see the fat lady...watch her dance for you!"). Of course - I'm playing in to it by watching this trainwreck. But honestly - I've gotten to the point that I watch it just to have context for the awesome snark on this board. Oh...and they BETTER NOT get rid of Allistair. Jesus f'ing Christ...that'll destroy the last bastion of good will I have for G&B. 18 Link to comment
Tipsymcstagger July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 Also - I cannot believe that guy (Pete?) sat there straight-faced and pitched an exercise/dance video to Whitney. As a CEO of a health video company - it's pretty gross to me that he's willing to make a deal with the devil to get some air time. Health? Give me a break. Between that and Roy's 'flirting' (ha) - TLC really gets its $ hooks in people, huh? I have two left feet and I'm probably a better dancer than Whitney. And she gets a dance video? Marketed to who exactly? Her exercise makes 'Sweating to the Oldies' look like a Crossfit competition. I mean it's laughable. 11 Link to comment

lallalla July 28, 2016 Share July 28, 2016 Seriously?! She tried to say the comedienne from last week had vocal fry, but has she listened to herself, especially in that part of this week's episode where she's questioning Alistair (before he humps and sprays her leg and she starts her squealing). Said the pot to the kettle, Twitney! Why is she calling the pig Alistair Porter, if her last name is Thore? Is that the pig's middle name? 5 Link to comment

And he gave me a much needed kick in the pants about being prepared with food choices before I am starving - thanks, Will! My DVR always cuts off the previews but it looks like she goes crying to Tal and he is going to give her another dose of reality and agree with Will - I really hope that after the tears and self-pity comes a new understanding and motivation for her. Since she twice mentioned her "dance career" without irony, I was glad that Will pointed out that her behaviors are not fostering said dance career. If you can't wear the shoes for more than 15 minutes and the idea of a 20 minute video fills you with relief because you "should be able to do it", that's a sign you should be looking for a new career. Seriously now - "I'm always looking for ways to further my dance career; I feel like it's been stagnant for a while." I bet the only person laughing harder than me at some of tonight's BS is Caitie! :) At first I thought it was just an editing ploy - but then I remembered in season 1 her dad basically forced her to clean out her filthy car. John M July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 Thoughts: 1. Alistair theory, it's the breeder's pig that she intends on using for breeding after using him for show drama, that's why he isn't fixed and they won't fix him. 2. I knew Whit wouldn't pick Katie because of this high school bullshit but of course she picks the black trans-woman and the white woman that wasn't Katie, so transparent. 3. Whit talking about how advanced other dancers are and her dance "career", I have yet to see any dancing skill from Whit, she can't even lift her legs, she teaches what, one, casual "dance" class a week for a dozen students who are completely unskilled and not pursuing dancing beyond a casual class? This show is really pathetic, I can't even feel bad for Whit at this point. 13 Link to comment

Get her settled on some equipment and say he needs a bathroom break or something and go look in her car. I bet she's not smart enough to think about this. If there is trash in the car, call her on her BS and send her back home. As for the fast food snacking, I've said this before about other folks who cry that they only thing they can find on the road is fast food - she's in a car. She can go to a big grocery store and make a salad. Shoot, she can get one already prepared. She can get 20 different flavors of humus and little carrot sticks (not my idea of fun, but lots of other people seem to like it). Old fashioned yogurt without all the sugar. A pre-made deli sandwich. Or make her own breadless sandwich with deli meat and cheese - roll up some turkey in a piece of cheese. I'd even let her have one of those small bottles of iced coffee which probably has fewer calories than anything she's getting from Starbucks (taking a guess here since I don't drink coffee, but it makes sense). There are all kinds of ways to attack this problem - it just takes thought and a little effort. Whoops, I forgot who I was talking about (about whom I was talking?) : ) As to the difference between what we saw and the real video - why wouldn't they show us that story, even if they had to recreate it? I'd like to see how they are made. TLC could have told me the truth. I can take it. 9 Link to comment

Starbucks ( where it looks like she has the cookie) has little protein tray with healthy snacky food. She is full of shit and her crying about how she didnt make the best choice but it was better cause she only had a bite...completely ridiculous If you were only going to have a bite of the cookie why did you still have it? Throw it away! Sometimes If I am craving chips I get a snack size bag of chips Ill eat half and immediately throw the rest away. (Sometimes I eat the whole thing, you know lol) or if there is cake in the office Ill have one or two bites then pitch the rest in the trash. So I can get a taste but am not wasting calories. Also, I know ALOT of people through my crossfit gym and yoga who either eat gluten free, paleo, are vegans or are doing some version of the whole 30...they SWEAR by chipotle. You can get sofritas/or chicken, veggies, salsa and boom low carb no sugar no meat and still tastes good.Skip the rice beans sourc ream and guac and its actually a good option for you. Lean protein and veggies all day! I keep saying this but the only thing that will save her at this point is going to a weight loss camp or eating disorder residential treatment facility. Tabbygirl521 July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 As long as Whitney remains willfully ignorant about food, she is doomed. She has already been on a regime where she lost 100 lbs but has no idea that noodles, mayo, and cheese is a "bad choice"? Or maybe more accurately, she knows it's a bad choice but uses magical thinking to negate the calories because she wants to eat it. Except surprise; say "welcome back" to those lost pounds and all their new friends. It's frustrating to listen to someone lie to themselves, to their own detriment. Since she was changing shoes, she couldn't have at least just slipped her feet out of the sandal dance shoes by pulling down on the back strap & pulling her foot out? But then she probably would need help getting on &tying the old dance shoes. Sorry, I'm getting confused by trying to picture these scenarios. When did Todd get mad - when she had to change from new to old shoes? I'm sure new dance shoes do hurt as we have seen on DWTS. Gaily July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 Sorry but I do still feel badly for Whitney and believe that the producers/TLC make her do sensational things that make her look even worse to attract ratings. This show has become more of a "look at the fat girl freak show" than the empowering, no body shame/lets all accept one another movement than it intended to be and that makes me sad. And I'm especially sad for Whitney. I don't believe Whitney wants us to watch her gulp layer cake faster than a speeding bullet or see her messy car stuffed with fast food wrappers or groan while she devours a revolting "casserole" of noodles, tuna, mayo and cheese. But maybe someone told her that these freak show moments would bring in the ratings and ultimately more money for her. I like the empowered, strong Whitney who is not afraid to shake her groove thing. The one who looks so pretty with hair and make up done. The Whit who is nice and caring to the folks in her Big Girl Dance class. I do not care for the spoiled whine bag, failure to launch slacker who takes advantage of her lovely 70-year-old parents. I really need this show to turn a new corner next season or else I can't watch it anymore. Dammit, I want to see Whitney win! 12 Link to comment
Cherrio July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 I get what you are saying about feeling sorry for her. This episode was particularly revolting. But, as she reminds Will and others she is a 32 year old woman and doesn't need to answer to anyone. So, while TLC is probably the worst at exploitation and repulsive shows, she is an adult and responsible for the decision to be on the show. She is also a know it all, so she should of known what kind of network she signed a contract with. What I do recognize is that she is in the throes of a deadly food addiction where she is not willing to admit it and that she needs help. No different from a heroin addict who says they can kick it on their own. Denial, excuses and lying are all apart of an addicts behavior. Hopefully she will get to a place where she admits she is an addict or ALL her enablers turn their backs until she agrees to an in-patient facility. Its either that, disease or death. She is only 5'2'' so she is actually at the point of being as bad as someone weighing 600 lbs. Her neck is gone, her ankles are gone, her core is a huge mass of fat. 12 Link to comment
TotoGirl July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 (edited) I get what you're saying about wanting to see Twit be a success.... She did not just pick up these nasty traits in the past 2 seasons, I personally think she's been this way her whole life. (The selfishness, bullying, narcissistic personality-among many other things.) I do believe that most of these elements were left on the cutting room floor during the first season. Is TLC showing us more of her negative traits now just for ratings, or are they just getting more "real" and showing us more about her as time goes by??? Probably a bit of both... I agree that she has most likely had all of these traits her whole life. But, something that is different about her this season that can't just be put down to editing is the fact that she no longer dresses nicely, does her makeup, or tries to make her hair look nice. She puts a lot less effort in her appearance these days. Maybe this and the fact that she always feels busy/overwhelmed are signs that there's something going on with her emotionally. Before this episode, I was actually buying that she is a genuinely happy person. She has issues with food addiction and denial, but I still thought she was a very optimistic, happy person. The conversation she had with Will at the end of this episode is the first time I actually thought that there is emotional pain that is driving her bad food choices. It was the first time she seemed 100% genuine to me. 10 Link to comment

He definitely did not seem happy to be doing it. I thought it was weird how Whitney explained that she can't do it because she can't lift her leg up on the seat because of the wall behind it, then when Todd walked away, she immediately put her leg on the seat so that she could put her flats on. I guess she mustered up the strength to do the leg lift after all. I also loved Todd's face when Whitney made the video chat for Roy. He looked mortified on her behalf. Yeah, I noticed how she was able to lift her leg, too. Maybe it was the other one she couldn't lift? (Giving her a HUGE benefit of the doubt here). Todd has far more patience with her than I would. One thing she does that most 600 lb patients don't is visit the gym. She doesn't do it often, but she does do it. I was watching a marathon yesterday of the 600 show, and was amazed at how many of them refused to even get up out of bed, so there's that, too. She's still mobile. She can't buckle up her own shoes, but she can still walk. She takes baby, mincing steps, but she can still walk. 6 Link to comment

If she's already at the point that she can't put on shoes, shave her legs, sleep w/o breathing help...how can she use a chair? Who goes where on the chair? How long can the chair be in use if she can't cross a street w/o hugging and puffing? I know she told the folks at the station her sex number was a 7 and Lovin Lennie was a 3, but did she consider that it was because it takes so much to get to the goods? Maybe he doesn't want to use the chair every time. To be accurate, I'm not sure she ever said she had, or used, such a chair. I only mentioned that there "was" such a chair for couples who needed it. :) From the looks of it, it's more of an aid to make sure the person on the bottom is not impacted by the weight of the person using the chair; the frame of the chair takes the bulk of the weight, if that makes sense. It looks, size wise, like a beach chair -- not with long, regular sized legs. I've only seen pictures on the web. I do not own such a chair. :) 3 Link to comment

Did she get that at a drive-thru or did she go into store (other than a bakery) to get it? If so, why didn't she buy some more "health bars"? (As someone else noted,a different discussion on these entirely as to how "healthy" they are). Was she no where near a grocery, health food store or even gas station, which often carry a range of these bars she is so fond of (so even if not her brand, some option would be available, let alone things like an apple, banana, some nuts, cheese, etc.). Was she in a grocery/gas store oasis where her only option was some fast food/bakery cookie the size of the moon?! Fattie that I am, I know for a fact that she got that chocolate chunk cookie from either Starbucks, or the Starbucks cafe inside of Barnes and Noble. *hangs head in shame* Those cookies are almost 400 calories and have the amount of sugar and carbs that she should be eating IN A DAY. And you know she guzzled some unpronounceable venti drink with it. When I overhauled my diet completely three years ago, those things were the FIRST food I gave up, along with any Starbucks drink that wasn't Americanos or regular brewed coffee. And there's no way she has the willpower or desire to eat a bite of cookie and properly portion control, she was probably just saving it as her post workout snack. This is the same woman who inhaled cupcakes that she supposedly doesn't even like. Will is right, she is not strong enough. I actually went to B&N last weekend and my husband got one of those cookies, offered me a bite, and I stopped after ONE BITE. And I was able to do that because I don't eat like that anymore, and no cookie is ever going to taste better than not having high blood pressure or whatever. But it's taken me years to get to this point and to learn that eating like that is completely unacceptable now. Vhit is not there yet, she should not even be in the presence of that crap. She had to get out of her car, walk in, deliberately look past all of the Starbucks protein snack boxes and salads, and make a decision to buy that cookie. She reminds me of people on My 600 lb life, who give up, but want to convince the audience that they haven't. "I know my body BETTER than Dr. Now, balance and moderation is the key! If I don't eat this slice of cake right now then I will just eat a whole cake tomorrow!" "I thought I was doing good!" You thought wrong Vhit. Why didn't you take a pic of this cookie and send it to Will if you thought what you were doing was such a non scale victory? What diet plan has 1/4 of a 400 calorie chocolate chip cookie on it? I'm not watching this shit show next season. 21 Link to comment

But maybe someone told her that these freak show moments would bring in the ratings and ultimately more money for her. I don't think she wants us to see it either, but she does want to continue to do it and lie about it. So while I kind of feel for her on this, I do believe it has a better chance of helping her in the long run than continuing to hide her destructive behaviors and allow her to lie about them. 4 Link to comment
