I don't understand why they are passing all sorts of knowing glances around. I get why the mom is glancing at the dad, but why are the kids glancing knowingly at everyone. What does everyone know??

Obviously that stupid song. I've never heard of a "Weezer" either. I assume it's the band's name. I just want all of them to get off my lawn.

I don't understand how Grandpa knows the song. I only know a few popular songs on the radio today, and I'm only 40. My seven-year-old niece knows songs I've never heard. I guarantee that in another 10 years, I won't know any of the songs she does.

Well in Grandpa's defense, that song is 20 years old.  (So feel old, Weezer fans!)

the worst part of the "phisticated" ads are that she is not making up a new word. The friend is saying her new room is "so-" and the lady cuts her off with "phisticated" meaning finishing the damn word to make it "sophisticated" which is a real word. BUt then the moron just takes it as "phisticated." She didn't make up a new word, she was too stupid to recognize a word that already exists.

"Fisticated": the name of my upper-class porn film.

My point is, Grandpa has had 20 years to learn it.  And if his kids were at home listening to it, he probably heard it then.

I absolutely hate the Mazda commercial below. The message I take is "Have your mid-life crisis with us!"

That line "reminds you of when you were you" enrages me.

I feel the exact same way.  Sorry you've been living a lie since you were 19, dude.  Also I just plain old hate the way the voiceover guy is reading the lines.

OK... I've seen the Xfinity Minions ad (which actually is for their voice-activated remote control units, not their DVRs themselves) another few times. I paid close attention to the phrase that's supposed to be the word "soccer", since I missed it before. I've gotta say, the phrase which is being referred to as sounding like "suck ass" but is actually supposed to be "soccer", really sounds--to me--like they're saying "(it)'s okay", instead of "suck ass". (shrugs) Don't hate me, but I think the Minions are cute (at least partly because yellow's my favorite color).

My husband informed me that the minions are speaking with French accents, hence the funny pronunciations. As if they weren't funny enough.

Does it make me a really evil person that I am annoyed and creeped out by this commercial?http://www.ispot.tv/...lot-buddy-hollyMaybe they are trying to do the heartwarming sentimental stuff that Subaru does so well, not even close.

I hate that commercial, too. What a lame family. Plus, why are they all singing some song I've never heard before (is it even a real song?). Hell, singing Row, row, row your boat would be more appealing.

without looking, does anyone remember what vehicle this is advertising?

bonus points, what does this ad have to do with that particular vehicle? You can't sing Weezer songs in a Fusion or a Sienna?

I can't believe they spend ad dollars on such foolishness

Well Minions just set a record for opening gross.  Second biggest opening for an animated movie, after one of the Shrek movies.

It has poor ratings for critics and users on Rottentomatoes.

So it seems to be a triumph of marketing and advertising over quality of content.

Oh, no. Does this mean we're forever going to be inundated with endless multi-product ads for upcoming movies from now on? Horrible, horrible thought.

Bite your tongue. Went to see Minions yesterday, and while it isn't as good as Inside Out, I really enjoyed it.

Was it a Nissan? That song sounds like it's more suited to a Gremlin or Pinto.

Apparently McDonalds is getting some flack because they're selling toy Minions and parents have called to complain they say swear words, so it's not just in the commercials they're being misheard. I think it's just the nature of their odd-sounding voices that they're going to be misunderstood a lot.

My mileage varies.  Have you seen it?

I saw this hard-hitting news, and I have to say that people need to get lives. If, as a parent, life is so tedious that they need to make up a story about a toy (or a Pop-Tart, what have you) supposedly saying a swear word, my boring cats and I feel really sorry for them. I cannot believe what passes for "news" now (she says, as a frequent commenter on a board about commercials).

I guarantee you that "the children!!!" wouldn't think that the toy is saying a swear word IF THEIR PARENT DIDN'T TELL THEM IT WAS.

I am actually enraged by those Panera commercials that feature hipsters shoving food in their mouths like they haven't eaten in weeks and then <gag> licking their fingers. So disgusting and if Panera thinks it makes their food look appetizing, guess again!

Ugh, yes.  Saw this one today and I was just grossed out.  I don't want to see people gulping their food down like rabid animals, healthy or otherwise.

I like Panera's food, but their advertising in general is a no-go.

Thanks to you all wishing it upon me, I saw stupid Hannah and her stupid horse umpteen times yesterday. I'd never seen them before I read about them here. I will get you all back. You won't know when, how or where, but I will bring hell down on this thread the likes of which no Sears dishwasher-door-jumper has ever seen.

This commercial has so much wrong with it. A bunch of unfeeling assholes gather to watch a car being crushed leaving abruptly because they have meetings. Then they get in the new car and gush about it (watch out new car, your time will come with this creep as your owner) and the worst part is the song, "Wrecking Ball", by that twerking skank, Miley Cyrus.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Yeah, those commercials are pretty yucky. But it got me to wondering, was Direct TV the one with the mini giraffe commercials? I loved those.

I hate Amanda who smoked when she was pregnant.  I hate her voice.  I hate her face.  I hate her deader than dead vocal intonations.  I especially hate the close up of her Eeyore face when she puts it up against the incubator.

Okay, so maybe I've seen this commercial too many times today.

Also, DQ flamethrower cheeseburger guy - if it hurts that much in your mouth, it's going to even worse later.  Digestive system aflame does not sound fun to me.  This commercial brings to mind the Terrance and Phillip movie "Asses of Fire."

Not to mention it's bad advice. If her kid is that premie, its nervous system is still "raw". Talking loudly into the window can overstress the baby and cause oxygen levels and/or blood sugar to plummet and even cause seizures. Some premies are so sensitive, they can't handle being touched and spoken to at the same time. Or spoken to while being fed. We have some parents who are highly offended when we tell them this. "How dare you tell me to keep my voice down around my own baby!" *sigh*

I don't mind that ad until they get to the song.

I hate this so much.  Why?  Because the woman puts a ton of coffee beans in the dog's bowl, puts it on the floor, then (thankfully) the dog refuses to eat.  The look on her face is pure, "Oh, silly me!"  Not panic because she just offered her dog a bowl of death!

Okay, I admit, that's a little over the top, but seriously, what the hell?

Yikes. Considering where that container is, my mind goes straight to the gutter wondering what that creamy, healthy snack really is. Sorry. I just squicked myself out.

Especially since the way he's walking in his profile video makes it look like he's... producing the stuff.  Babe, what are you doing?
