The most recent word that I found -- from features that appeared after the season concluded in the UK in April -- was that discussions are underway for Season 8.

Thank you dear Pallas...let us hope it brings with it more Leonard helping Geordie. I love Leonard so much more as a not-curate!

I so agree, but I need to add that they take Dickens along with them on their adventures (maybe he could sniff out clues...[sorry]).

Renewed

Ha! Everyone is always convinced this whatever season we're currently on is the last, and then it always comes back...

Sounds like they've known for awhile, even if they're only announcing it now, considering the article talks about plot points, guest stars, etc. And Al Weaver will be making his directorial debut-- good for him!

I'll definitely be watching but I really felt that S7 ended in a way that would be a perfect wrap-up for the series.

I guess it will be interesting seeing Will as a husband and father. He certainly needs something to do. What I first loved about Will was that, unlike Sidney, he had a deeper inner life. I loved the insights we got about him as a youth, and his relationship with his parents. He also seemed more about his job than Sidney. Then the writers just turned him into a Sidney redux (minus the heavy drinking) with him running headlong into chasing romantic relationships.

@Irlandesa and @ComeWhatMay and @DonnaMae THANK YOU to you three for not spoilering those of us who've not finished this season, let alone knowing anything possible about the next! Most appreciated. I don't care what the final episode brings, nor where it leaves our characters for next season so long as they're coming back, but would love more emphasis on Leonard, Mrs. C and the Dog! Actually, I'm pleased with the amount of Leonard we got this season so far.

@ season 8 renewal:

Yay...ish? They wrapped up enough things where I would have been satisfied had they decided to pull the plug. Though it would have been a pretty weak season to end things on.

Hopefully with how season 7 wrapped up, the sidney-fication of Will has mostly come to an end, so I'm being hopeful in that regard.

With the later than usual renewal announcement, I'm wondering if they're gonna take things day by day so to speak concerning possible future season announcements. Pbs/bbc/whoever is also usually pretty upfront when they announce a new and final season. They didn't mention "final" yet, so I feel like they haven't quite closed the doors on a potential ninth or tenth series. Not sure if I want to see this series stretched that far though. :/

Cute round table discussion about season 8 with Kacey Ainsworth, Robson Green, Tom Brittney, Al Weaver, Melissa Johns, and Bradley Hall.

yes!

i really enjoyed this

Kacey was a good leader and lovely and I love Robby, well all of them, really.  Tom looked bored most of the time.

If one is to believe information on IMDb, PBS will air one episode of Granchester, s9e1, on June 16. The next episode is listed under 2025. If that’s not an error, it’s a disappointment.

On PBS.org, the June Schedule has the 2nd and 3rd episodes listed on June 23rd and June 30, respectively.

Here’s some gossip. I was just now looking up some of the stars on Wikipedia. Robson Green’s entry says he had an affair with a woman who was married to a vicar of all things.  And broke up the marriage.

I just had to read RG's wiki page after that.  To be fair it did say "In April 2016 it was reported that Green was involved in an affair causing the break-down of a marriage between a vicar and his wife."

"it was reported" could mean the Daily Mail reports...in other words it could be bullshit or at the very least a Daily Mail version of the truth.

What I found most surprising is RG's middle name is Golightly!  He might be related to Holly!  😉

I posted on the other thread that pbs Passport has dropped the whole season already.

Just a quick reminder to everyone reading this that anything that has not aired yet on PBS should be marked with a spoiler tag. (It's the little eye icon on the menu bar).

He's still with her.  Or was as of last year.

Oh Robson has had quite the personal life.  Lots of infidelity.

Has there been any news of another season?

I can understand that.  The first time I saw him was in the series "Reckless" and I was absolutely interested in him having my babies.  I'm sure he's gotten a lot of mileage with the ladies.

Against my better judgement, I looked up the actor playing Alphy, Rishi Nair.  I say against my better judgement because I did that with James Norton and watched him as a psychopath in Happy Valley and never recovered my love for him and marked him off men who can have my babies list.  But anyhoo, he's also in Marlow Murder Club which started here last night.  I have it recorded.  Please don't let him be a psycho, please don't let him be a psycho.

I was delighted to see him in Marlow Murder Club (which I loved). It's a small role, but I'll never complain about seeing him on my screen. 😆
