S07.E04: Iced Out

MTV has some sneak peeks on their website. The Leah scene makes my heartbreak because she's destroying the relationship between the Twinses.

She was so pissed off about having to get them to or from anywhere on time, it made me glad she's not in charge of that anymore. But it was a really sad scene. Thank goodness Corey is a good man who loves his kids, no matter what their Mom does. I hope Jeremy turns out to be the same way with Addy.

My heart broke for Jace in the Jenelle sneak peak.  That poor little boy was clearly exhausted, had a terrible night and although I like Barb she dealt with it really badly.

Didn't Jace say last week that he likes David because he gives Jace Coca Cola?  It seems from the clip that Barb has told Jenelle to not have soft drink around Jace but the stupid girl has it in her fridge and wonders why the kids drink it!  It wasn't clear if it was given to him or if he took it but better supervision is clearly needed by whoever was watching them, a kindy kid shouldn't be having soft drink at night.  What makes it worse is that Jenelle wasn't the one who had to cope with an exhausted and cranky Jace yet she had the audacity to complain that she had one bad night's sleep!

Jenelle says that she can't cope with one bad night yet she thinks that it would be a fantastic idea to get custody of Jace back?  More to the point, she wasn't even taking care of them for most of the night because she and David went out!

What kind of crappy parents only have their kids for every other weekend yet use that time to dump them with babysitters and go out?  I'm not saying that parents can't have dates but seriously stop calling yourselves parents if you aren't going to actually raise the kid.

My understanding is whoever was watching the kids is the one who gave them the soda.

Barb's "you have to hide the coke" was hilarious though.

MTV posts so many Sneak Peak clips, you've practically seen the whole episode before it airs.

Apparently Chelsea and Cole are buying a house, which I don't think is a good idea, but I'll remain neutral until I see how it plays out. It always makes me uneasy when the guy in a relationship experiences a cushy lifestyle upgrade thanks to the new wife.

I can't remember if it was the show or the preview that I saw it but I remember seeing someone say he had "Coke" and he was quickly corrected to "Coca Cola."  Y'know, in case you were wondering if it was the powdered-on-glass kind, they had to clarify it was the SOFT DRINK. Okay it's a sad reason to laugh, but I had to.

Poor Jace, why Barb allows him to be around Jenelle, is beyond me. Jenelle doesn't give a hoot about him, and being around her confuses him. It so easy to see why he throws these huge fits. Poor Jace makes my heart hurt so bad!

I know. I think only Kaiser is more heartbreaking because NO one seems to care about him. Jenelle doesn't care at all (I seriously wonder sometimes if she's thinking "oh I thought I aborted you - oh well"), Barb seems to be forcing herself not to care, Nathan's not really allowed to see him/care... I hope things are better for him in real time because these scenes and sneak peeks etc. just break my heart.

As awful as it is to say, I don't doubt Jenelle regrets having Kaiser. She has no use for him now that she's no longer with Nathan and she's found a new man. The only reason she hasn't ditched him is because she knows it would be a PR disaster for her. So she goes through the motions and keeps him alive, but doesn't do much more beyond that.

Fer chrissakes, Leah. Put your fucking phone down when you're driving. Especially when you have your kids in the car. Driving, reading texts (or Instagram or FB or whatever) and reaching behind her to get Ali's glasses. I can't believe she hasn't killed someone yet. Calling Ali a liar because she said Corey gets them to school on time and Leah doesn't. What a world class bitch!

Sure, Jenelle. Jace never has soda when he's with you. You said you got 4 hours of sleep. When you have a toddler and another young one, sometimes that's all you get. Suck it up and get through the day. We know she plopped Kaiser in his crib and closed the door the minute Barb left with Jace. I love when Barb asks what happened to her chin because it's full of stitches and she just shrugs it off and says she fell out of the cab when she came home. Like falling out of a car in your driveway and busting your chin open enough for several stitches is just an everyday thing.

I swear Kail is trying as hard as she can to not bust into a huge grin when Javi tells her he's leaving in a couple weeks. I watched it twice and she's trying not to smile, I swear!

I hope  Cole is smart enough to make sure that his name is on the house they're buying. It would be a real bitch for them to break up before they get married and have Cole left hanging. It happened to a long time friend of my husband. We told him over and over that his name needed to be on the house he bought with his girlfriend. He said she'd never do that to him. A year later, she did just that. Kicked him out and he had no legal right to the house because everything was in her name.

I haven't watched the clips yet. Why is Jenelle bitching about 4 hours sleep? It's not like she got 4 hours sleep and had to go to work, like most parents. Sure it sucks to only get 4 hours but if you're not working I don't see the big deal. She just lays around the house all day anyway. What really sucks is what most parents have to deal with: getting four hours sleep and then going to work all day and then doing it all over again the next night.

She does have to "work" that day --- she's filming.

I saw a screenshot of the house Chelsea and Cole bought and it looked ginormous. What I don't understand is why Chelsea's original house all of a sudden isn't good enough now that Cole is in the picture. I know you can make the argument that it'll be "their" house instead of just "Chelsea's," but you know darn well its her money that's buying the place. I wish she just would've waited a few years to see if the marriage sticks before going in on an investment she'll lose half of should they ever divorce.

What does Cole do for a living?

They referred to him as a "traffic control specialist" meaning he holds the "stop" and "slow" signs at construction sites. Nothing wrong with that, it's an honest job and he probably makes decent money, but not anywhere near where he could afford a house like the one in the above picture. That's why I'm giving a side eye. I'd just hate to see Chelsea start blowing her money now that she's in luuurrrrvv.

LOL where exactly did that information about Cole come from about the holding of stop and go signs? Nothing wrong with that job. My brother-in-law does the same thing except it is just part of his bigger job in construction work.

I remember reading aboutvhis job title, but nothing went into detail. In my area, a traffic control specialist is one who manages the traffic lights at intersections. They maintain the system through the electrical boxes and anything pertaining to the system. Not sure if that is Cole's job.

She had some kids over for a sleepover (her soulmate's daughter and another kid) and they left them with some relative of his so they could go out. Of course, she blames the babysitter for giving them soda so they were all amped up on sugar and caffeine and wouldn't go to bed. If you're going to have kids over to spend the night, stay home and supervise them. Even in the best of circumstances, it's hard to get them to go to sleep because they're excited and having fun. How nice that both Jenelle and David get their kids for occasional weekend visits and they dump them with a babysitter so they can go out and party.

This is another thing that disgusts me about Jenelle. She leaves her kids with some random relative of her current piece of ass whom she just met. How does she know this relative isn't going to abuse her kids? I wouldn't leave my cats with some random person, let alone my kids. Jenelle really only cares about herself and is a true sociopath.

Isn't this episode supposed to be Leah's redemption? She was tweeting wait until episode 4... I'm not holding my breath.

Please don't hold your breath! She's been saying the truth will come out for years now. Maybe she thinks Gracie saying she misses her is total redemption. Sorry, Leah. Kids miss their parents no matter how shitty they are. I would imagine Corey and Miranda have rules and a set bedtime at their house and Gracie is having a hard time getting used to some structure in her life. Once she realizes she can just be a kid and not have to parent her siblings, she'll relax and enjoy being a little kid.

It does look like he is according to several sources. He's also supposedly a college graduate.

Looks like "traffic control specialist" encompasses a lot of duties.https://www.mymajors.com/career/traffic-control-specialist/

There's also something to be said for class...while they likely have very different incomes, in another world, a South Dakotan esthetician would be highly likely to marry a South Dakotan traffic control specialist. Equal levels.

  • Love 3

I never said there was anything wrong with his job. I'm saying he wouldn't be able to afford his current lifestyle if it weren't for Chelsea's 300k a year income.

No, no, no. Sorry. I meant there was nothing wrong with that particular job, not that you implied that in your post. I was hoping my comment did not come off as though one having such a job (holding stop and go signs) was crappy. I hope this makes sense. LOL

Now, on to my question. What lifestyle? Have there been big changes other than a home? Cole might have great credit and may have money himself either through hard work or family. Or both. Maybe Chelsea plans to rent out her home instead of selling it.

I do not know the real estate market in her area, but a home like that in the photo would be very pricey in my area. I remember someone posting the cost of homes in Chelsea's area. It was cheap.

  • Love 4

Is there a source that Cole's job is nothing but holding a street sign or is it just another rumor that suddenly becomes a fact? That's not called a traffic control specialist.

We also know nothing about Cole so we have no clue what he can and can't afford. Maybe he comes from a little money or something.

Thank you! Traffic control Specalist can mean many things depending on the class level.

  • Love 6

It's pretty well confirmed that Cole was in college and graduated, therefore I tend to think he makes a decent living. If anything, Chelsea is the one who traded up with him: college graduate, polite, clean-cut, no felonies or general acts of dumassery  in his past.

I am surprised they are looking to trade up, housewise, considering how nice and spacious Chelsea's house is. Hell, she can gift her old one to me if she wants to get it off her hands real quick:)

As a proud South Dakotan, I'm not exactly sure what that's supposed to  mean..

Cole has a degree in Business Administration and played soccer in college.  He works for Dakota Traffic Services and it's highly unlikely that he holds signs.

  • Love 14

I don't think it matters what Cole does for a living, as long as it's honest work. I think Chelsea is the one who traded up, honestly. An unmotivated teen mom who dropped out of high school and took her sweet time to finish her GED whilst living off of daddy's money.

Chelsea is not a bad person and she's come a long way, but she's nothing special. Jenelle, Kail and Leah have set the bar incredibly low.

  • Love 14

Does Chelsea really live all that extravagant of a lifestyle, though? She owns a home, and she drove her former car for a pretty good while before she purchased a new one. Maybe I'm wrong, but I haven't seen her blowing through money like say, Janelle, who has purchased a new car for every man she's dated, or Kail and Leah, who each own fleets of SUV's.

All I mean is that Chelsea and Cole are setting themselves up to live a very normal/average/typical American/middle class/whatever you want to call it life. They're not gallivanting all over to New York or L.A. like Farrah/Jenelle/even Maci, somewhat/some of the others or trying to live it up in that way. She's not trying to marry someone who is a wannabe celebrity or reality show star or who has the same level of wealth she happens to have now because of the show, which will probably work out well. She's marrying someone from a similar background, similar region, similar culture, similar 'level' of job, slightly higher level of education. (However, I will say that she definitely traded up in the intelligence department; while Cole isn't a rocket scientist, Chelsea is really quite dim. I do wonder where she'd be now if she didn't have such a supportive and well-off family to pay her rent during the many-years-of-GEDing). The other girls tend to try to meet rich men (Farrah), show off their wealth (Kail) or marry/date men they're going to be taking care of forever (Jenelle, Amber, Maci).

Dating patterns also DO tend to be different regionally. People get married a lot later on the coasts. Chelsea and Cole are going by the normal timeline for their region and background; there just happened to be a reality show and a teen pregnancy in there beforehand. I think this will probably make their relationship stable, as it mirrors the people they know.

I can't believe I did the research, but in South Dakota, the guy who holds the sign is classified as a Highway Maintenance Worker.

I suspect Cole is a civil engineer of some type, and likely has not passed his engineering license boards due to not simply not being employed in an engineering capacity for 2 years. I know in Arkansas, you aren't an engineer until you do. I have a friend with his CivEng degree whose title is "Engineering Intern." Cole's dad is a professor of engineering and honored as a distinguished alumnus of SDSU.

So, in other words, Chelsea and Cole come from similar backgrounds, both having educated parents with white collar careers and, likely, upper middle class mobility. Makes sense that they would have that in common, at least.

You see, that is the only thing I could see working against Chelsea and Cole. He apparently is fairly educated, intelligent, and motivated, if we take into account he finished college while being involved in other activities like college sports. Chelsea is sweet and normal for the most part, but unless she is hiding a secret well of deep thoughts, I wonder how interesting she will be to someone with a college education over a period of time. Then again, since we don't know much about Cole, I suppose he could've been an average student who coasted along in school, propped up by his educated father. I'm wishing the best for them, in the long run.

Fucking Leah reached behind her seat while driving to retrieve the glasses??? Did I watch that happen? I am on my device.

Yeah she did (just re-watched it).  Although, they didn't show her face. If she just reached behind without looking, it's possible she was actually watching the road more closely during that than while she was texting or instagramming or whatever she was doing when she had her face buried in her phone.

It's weird; "upper middle class mobility" for an esthetician with barely a GED, not sure, but maybe for Cole. But yeah, basically same backgrounds. And agree on it possibly working against them, though statistically, guys do find less intelligent girls more desirable.

^^this is my quote. I am not sure how to edit it on a mobile device. This makes me laugh...I am received my college education from a local University and some of my peers were dumber than rocks. It shocks me that some of these people could graduate with a degree, so I have to say just because someone has a college education doesn't mean they have intellectual conversations!

I agree with whoever said that it doesn't matter what he does as long as he is gainfully employed. I come from a belief system that each job is important right down to a maintenance worker or garbage truck driver...each have their important role in a functioning society.

  • Love 11

Agreed. Some of my university classmates were not bright people. Just because someone managed to meet the curriculum requirements for a degree does not mean that they enjoy foreign cinema, great literature or have deep thoughts. They might be good mathematicians or able to create a business plan, but a college degree is more indicative of being able to plan and complete (at some point) a multi-year curriculum.
