Joimiaroxeu February 26, 2017 Share February 26, 2017 (edited) I think we're supposed to have forgotten about Victor's heart transplant way back when they had him parachuting out of an airplane over the wilds of Canada. Jack did mention his drug addiction when he was having his little drinking game with Gloria. He was already two out of three sheets to the wind and bragged that just because he couldn't handle pain pills that didn't mean he couldn't handle booze. It seemed to me like the writers were making a deliberate point about his delusion and weren't trying to pretend like Jack wasn't an addict. (Plus they needed to create an excuse for Jack to sleep with Gloria.)
