  1. The thing about the set up is (I think) that it is supposed to be similar to the NCAA basketball tournament. The basketball one is all about seeding and brackets. I agree that a shake up is needed--it's got to be disheartening to go up against the the same chef that took you out for 3 or 4 years in a row and lose again. It's also got to be hard for people like KBC and Christa to go out in the first round every year. Maybe they should change it to if you win, then you don't come back. I don't know what the answer is, but Guy/Food Network, please come up with something!
  2. Well, so much for my prediction that Mei would be the winner. I'm hoping that Jet or Antonia will take the belt, but Maneet really has a great mind for putting out good dishes that meet all the requirements. Very impressed with how she pivoted when the pressure cooker didn't work out. Britt is a tough competitor as well. I had to step away while Amanda was prepping her dish. How did she explain the big and small elements? I couldn't see that at all on her plate.
  3. James Best was also very good in a few episodes of Twilight Zone (one was about a witch and a love spell, scared me a lot as a kid--was written by Earl Hamner of the Waltons fame) and some episodes of Andy Griffith. He was sort of a go-to actor when a young southern fellow was needed on the old shows. I was also cringing at the Phyllis scenes. Is JG gonna put her back with Nick as a consolation (booby) prize??
  4. This was a very good Worlds competition. I thought the medalists in each category skated diverse and enjoyable programs. Can't quibble about the results, each was a deserving winner. What can I say about Ilia's skate that hasn't already been said? It was just mind blowingly phenomenal. Quad God for sure! Major props to him for doing this under pressure. Where does he go from here? Unimaginable to think of what more he can do technically. A quad-quad combo is probably on tap. I was very glad to see Isabeau put out two excellent programs and win the silver. Her beautiful balletic style is so lovely to watch! I noticed that her tech score in the long program dropped from around 74 in the boxes prejudging to 68 after. Far be it from Johnny or Tara to explain that, so I am thinking she got hammered in GOE and/or judge discretion on what to take off for edge calls on the lutzes. I wish Raf could help her with her jump technique, she's got everything else down pat.
  5. Mei is looking really strong and confident. I'd be putting my money on her if I was a betting person. I would love to see one of the OGs win (Jet, Antonia, Amanda) but Mei seems to be totally in the zone.
  6. I wish someone at CBS had the courage to burn that black leather jacket. I know that whenever that appears, it's Benny Hill level of slapstick in store.
  7. Worlds Championships are this week. Hope some of the peeps here can attend--it's in Montreal this year. It seems like most here watch on Peacock. I don't have that, but my cable provider is providing some coverage on the USA Channel starting this Thursday. I don't see anything airing on NBC, but I might have missed it on the schedule. I'm hoping for good skates from everyone, but I'd really like to see Amber put together two great programs. How would a clean Amber with triple axels in both programs score against Kaori?
  8. Joe and Shota were my favorites, so I'll be able to watch the rest of the competition without a big rooting interest. I still would like to see someone different win this year. What kind of score is it going to take to win? We're getting scores in the 90s pretty routinely in the early rounds.
  9. I have to say I'm shocked that Y&R was renewed for any period of time, let alone 4 years. I thought for sure TPTB planned to give the show a big 50th anniversary year, then can it. I can't imagine four more years of some Newman spawn hemming and hawing in front of a 300 year old Barnabas Collins sitting at his desk polishing his fangs, or sixty somethings wearing dare to bare cocktail dresses fighting over an Old Kid on the Block. Hopefully they will invest in some better background music. What they have now sounds like what you'd hear in the funeral home while you're waiting for the service to begin.
  10. I thought the finale judging was fair. Lilah's cake must have tasted really good and the decoration was the prettiest and cleanest. Tasi was fun to watch--a free spirit. I am constantly amazed at the abilities of these very young people! I shudder to think how I would have come across on a pressure packed competitive national tv show at age 11! I have to say that Levi and Oscar were my favorites for the season. So mature and such caring guys. I'd love to see them again on an all star season. This show is just a sweet little fun show to watch. It's very soothing and comforting. I'm sad to see Val go (I wish her well!) and hope they will find another host who can bring that comfortable vibe.
  11. I was hoping Joe would go far, so I'm kinda bummed about that. I would like to see someone new win this year--maybe Michael Volt? I'd also be interested in seeing how Justin Warner would do as a competitor. I always enjoy him on GGG. That said, I do like his commentary and presenting style on TOC.
  12. For pretty I definitely agree with Cool Breeze: Ridge and Taylor during their courtship, and Ridge and Caroline OG. A more recent pairing that had a lot of chemistry was Pierson Fode's Thomas and Courtney Hope's Sally. What a shame that one got cut short. I really don't like how painted into a dumb corner Liam is. I think SC is one of the better actors on the show and to have him be one of the most hated characters by the fandom must be super frustrating for him.
  13. That'll be the day. (RIP Buddy Holly) I wonder what it might take for EB to stop barking out his lines (which are so obviously read off his cell phone) in such a "damned" belligerent manner. His scenes are like nails on a chalkboard for me.
  14. Brother and sister are bad enough. Didn't he also proudly announce it to his Mom and Dad too? I thought I heard Brooke nearly orgasmic about it. This show often likes to have a pure as the driven snow good girl character. Caroline I, Hope, and now Luna come to mind. It is truly sickening. I'd love it if it eventually came out that Poppy and Luna are not quite as wonderful as they seem. I know I need not hold my breath waiting for that. I'm curious--do young people in general nowadays let their parents and/or other family know once they've slept with someone? Things were quite a bit different from that back in the day, even on the soaps.
  15. I'm sorry to see Val go. I liked her on KBC, didn't care for the other hosts they tried. (For some reason whenever I try to add a reaction, no matter what I cursor on it registers as like. I meant for the reaction to be sad to the post with the Val news.) I can't think of anyone on Food Network who might be as good as Val. In this season, I like Levi. He was so sweet and understanding when Elsie had her meltdown. The spritz cookies looked really good.
