Two things . . .

1. The episode is slated to run for 93 minutes. I don't think an After Show is involved. Even famewhores have families to spend the holidays with.

2. The Bozo from Bozeman has a brother? Yikes.

ETA . . . "Cara Maria's ex"? Wait, can she be retroactively broken up with after she snuggled up with Tony? Or Thomas?

After watching this show for I don't know how many seasons, wishing that a group would get together and eliminate people like JEK, I don't want to see that happen this season.  I am hating the rookies so much.  I want to see some of their egos burst like the tires from the challenge.

I'd also like to know if Cory's GF back home is OK with him making out with someone else.  I know I wouldn't.

And did we find out what happened to Tony?  I am pretty sure I heard the announcer say that Tony's story would be explained this episode.  Getting his brother out of bed in the middle of the night does't tell me what happened.  I mean, I only want to know that he didn't die or something really bad.  Other than that, I'm glad he's off my television but dreading his eventual return to another challenge.

I just realized why this show is more conflicting for past challenges. I don't like most of the people I already know, but I like their partners. Like I feel bad for Larissa but I dislike Camilla.

DAMN IT SHOW! Now there's no one I like, thanks for getting rid of Leroy. NO ONE LIKEABLE IS LEFT. When does my boyfriend CT get on this show?

Also, my reaction from myself when I saw Mitch with a talking head: "Who the hell is Mitch?" I still..don't really know? But now I know he's on the show. So, points. But half the time, I'm asking myself, "HOW OLD AM I? WHY DON'T I KNOW YOU?"  And then I think about how I was watching the RW before some of these cast members were even making coherent sentences and then I need to have a drink and yeah..

Also, I'm starting to realize lately how tight production on this show is. I'm sure it's always been like this but this challenge and exs, I've noticed how strict they are with their rules. Like how all the cast members are forced to go to clubs and how tonight I thought it was strange that Shane was at the pit and not with his brother and then when production came in to tell him to go the hospital, I guess he had to be asked to go and otherwise had to do all the camera obligations he is obligated to do, like the pit. It's just.. weird. Little things I'm noticing as of late with this show. Like I bet Brianna would probably love to stay home at the house but she's forced to go out partying on the camera party nights.

And I kind of love Anessa. Nany and Banana need to sit the hell down. Like anyone should ever listen to you two with your great words of wisdom.

Thanks Jenna for that... really strange tone farewell speech to Tony and Shane.

Hi Abe. No one.. really needed you back. WHY WASN'T IT CT? Also Abe's brother, hi. I don't know you and I don't care to. You are ten times more attractive than your brother.

And CM, you are an idiot. Abe is a psychopath.  Poor Thomas. Good luck with that.

Also is Bananas Gossip Girl?  He seems to be.

I love how much TJ dislikes these people. He loves trivia challenge because these people are idiots.

That was an eventful hour. We lost Leroy and Shane, but we're rid of Camila. Granted, her sister wound up losing in the pit, which was hard to take . . . but you gotta take your good news where you can get it. And if Abram finds out about Cara Maria's flirtation with Thomas, we're going to be out three teams. And two people permanently.

Glad that Tony is okay, even though he's a Madison-impregnating tool. I don't even know what a spleen does. I'm hoping Shane comes back down the road, since he doesn't seem to be an eternal fuck-up like his brother. But that's not likely. Ditto for Candice coming back . . .  aside from the blue hair, there's nothing for BMP to pull for.

Wow . . . Mike looks . . . normal. Granted, he's probably covering up all his scars and tattoos, if his brother is any indicator. And are those tattoos on Abram's head? Nice for the show to remind us that Abram is a nutjob, and that Cara Maria and Thomas should be sleeping with one eye open.

I'm pulling for the rookies. Even if Vince winds up punking out in the Pit, that still means no more Johnny. That's a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. We'll sort through the carnage when we get to it.

That's a real good look Abe, with the head tattoos.

Even Cara Maria is joking that Abe may have homicidal tendencies.  Why is she with him exactly?

He's got a gut, better hope there aren't any cardio or endurance challenges.

OK so 3 teams left on this one episode, one by elimination, two by DQ due to injuries.  So they replaced one of the DQ teams but shouldn't there be another replacement team?

Johnny was sorry Leroy left, more because of his alliance than losing a "friend."

I'm assuming that Candice had a break similar to my one and only broken bone, the big toe with the fracture way down near where the toe bones attach to the foot bones.  Not one you can really tape to the next one like if you broke a little toe.

TJ's blatant glee on trivia challenge day is always a highlight of the season.  I loved him cackling after some of the wrong answers.

Thomas (your name is Thomas, right?), I'm not saying Abe is definitely going to eat some of your organs, but, well, Abe's probably going to eat some of your organs.  You might want to volunteer to go into the pit so you can get the hell out of Turkey breathing.

Reality TV really desensitizes you to shit, because while I should probably be horrified that CM is talking about her boyfriend's "serial killer quiet," I laughed and laughed.  Of course I also laughed at the way the two of them almost needed to be hosed down when Abe got there, with Thomas (seriously, that is his name, right? I can't be expected to know all these new names already!) right behind them.  I think he got a pretty good illustration in the difference between CM flirting with you to kill time and stay in the game and what it's like if she's really into you.

Back to the trivia, an hour after the show was over, I looked at my husband and said "Loki!" and we just started laughing all over again.  God bless these twits.

Oh, and Aneesa, really?  You not only thought that it would be a good idea to put Jenna up top answering questions, but you also apparently decided it would be a smart move to have her be the one in charge of when your tube of stupidity would explode?  No, you don't get to be annoyed with her when she gets answers wrong or mockingly "proud" of her when she gets them right - not when you're the genius who decided to put her in that position.  You would have been better off putting a rabid squirrel up there with a basket full of letters and waiting to see if he happened to eat the letters in the proper order to spell out the right answer.

In Aneesa's shoes, I might have done the same thing.  She's sitting in the tire, doesn't have to answer any questions and if Jenna can't answer anything it makes a good case for sending Jenna into the pit.  But I don't really like any of these rookies and would throw all of them under the bus in an instant.

When they learned it was a trivia challenge, they all groaned, didn't want to do it.

They were 3 or 4 questions about Turkey or the Turkish flag, of which there were dozens flying around them.

Let's face it, there's a reason these people went for The Challenge, not Jeopardy.

I don't think I have ever been so conflicted on a season...

On one hand you have Bananas and the other vets. I have wanted a group of rookies to come in, band together and knock them off one by one for years now.

On the other hand, you have rookies who seem like that is exactly what they are going to do. Yet, these rookies aren't any more likable than Bananas and company. In fact, I actually find myself rooting for BANANAS (yes, I feel like I need to take a shower).

There is a part of me hoping that Bananas goes back to acting like...well, Bananas so I can go back to hating the guy. But honestly, he really just isn't that bad this season. Maybe he learned something from how he acted after Sarahs win (I doubt it).

But back to the rookies. They just aren't likable in any way as a whole. Corey is the same Corey he was on his RW season. The twins from AYTO seem like complete tools. And since they seem to be the leaders of the rookies, I just find it hard not to root for the vets.

And am I the only one the gets the impression these kids seem to think that as long as there isn't actual insertion of a penis, it isn't cheating? It really is the impression I get.

And on a trivia note...how the hell does anyone over the age of 6 or 7 not know how to spell column? Though like always, the questions were all over the place. Some were actually hard and then some were ridiculously easy. Though when someone can't spell "column", I guess there are no easy questions...

Yeah...even if they're just sleeping together and cuddling (like they claim)...I'm still not sure I'd be ok with that.  You have a boyfriend/girlfriend back home but are sleeping with someone else.  That doesn't sound like such a good idea...

Wow, I know it's rather common in porn and stuff, but how awkward to have your live-in boyfriend actually show up while you're fucking around with some new dude for money. Cara Maria is a real pro, though, so she'll manage. Abe will of course rampage over this, or something, at some point just because that's his special move, but I doubt he even really cares. I don't imagine their 'relationship' is very exclusive.

Very meaty episode, overall. That one dude (allegedly) eats too many pain pills after coming back from the hospital, chooses to deny medical care from production when the (alleged) pills make him sick, and then still requires medical care -- and even then he's maybe only the D-plot of the episode. Glad that dude and his brother are gone, though. Both are very tiresome characters, IMO.

And yeah, I agree with a previous poster who said that Bananas guy is muy chismoso this season.

It seems extremely short-sighted to go on with an elimination when you've just DQ'd one team for an injury, and are in the process of doing the same to another team. It feels like complete producer manipulation to get Cara's crazy boyfriend in there to go crazy jealous.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. I fucking love Abram. He is one of my all-time favorite cast members (Evelyn is the other) and I am sooooo god damn happy that he is back on my television. I hope we see him get crazy in some of these challenges.

I don't think Cara Maria actually cheated on Abram. There was no "secret camera" footage with her and Thomas like there was with say, Aneesa/Cory or Kelly Anne and...whats-his-face. Just the two of them flirting and massaging and stuff. Sure, flirting can be crossing the line, but I don't think they've made out or slept together like everyone else is making it seem like. It's all manufactured drama in my opinion.

I'm kind of wondering about the safety of last weeks competition, since two people were hurt badly enough to get eliminated. Those swinging planks were probably too heavy or something. Seriously they shouldn't do something like that again.

Notice how close to the water they were in the next challenge with the inner tubes?? I don't think that was a coincidence even though maybe they had to be closer to get the air into the tubes somehow.   How more of them don't nearly kill themselves falling that far and hard into water is beyond me.

Wow! Three teams were eliminated in the first 15 minutes. I hate to see Leroy go, but I'm glad Tony and Camila are off my screen even though their partners were cool enough. At the beginning of the season I wanted either Cohutta, Leroy, or Cara Maria to win. Now that Cohutta and Leroy are out, it's just Cara Maria, and I'm not really liking her that much this season. Her interest in Thomas disappoints me and the ensuing drama between her and Abram could ruin the season. Or it could be the most awesome thing ever on The Challenge if he goes on a killing spree. I'd stay awake and sober at all times if I was Thomas. BTW, WTF did Abe do to himself with those tats? I take it he doesn't have a 9-5 job.

It seemed a little insensitive to have the pit without knowing the status of Tony who had just collapsed and got rushed to the hospital via ambulance, but what else should I expect from MTV? I'm not sure why Shane couldn't accompany Tony to the hospital. Shane's attendance wasn't exactly needed at the pit and it wasn't known what was specifically ailing Tony at the time. It seems like, as a bloodline, that he should have been there in case it was serious instead of having producers wake him out of bed.

It's interesting to me how the veteran women are hooking up with the rookie guys (Cara Maria and Thomas, Kelly Anne and Dario, and Anessa and Cory). I wonder how much of that is actual interest and how much of that is gameplay. Aneesa seemed to be genuinely interested in Cory until she eavesdropped on him disrespecting her. Cara Maria admits her interest in Thomas is mostly strategy. And Kelly Anne is just horny. I know it's proven to be a viable strategy in past seasons, but it's kind of sad that some of the players think they have to flirt in order to win. This is definitely the most power I've seen the rookies have in any challenge, and it's cool that the insufferable Johnny Bananas isn't running this season.

With Leroy out, Bananas lost his main ally and that's why Bananas was so butt hurt about Leroy leaving. It's going be harder for Bananas to win the money now since Leroy was a guy Bananas could count on to go into the pit and do his dirty work by taking out other competitors. Bananas wants to manipulate all relationships in the house to his advantage, but that's just not possible this season. I look forward to watching him bitch and squirm once he gets thrown in.

Kudos to Jenna for winning yet another pit. I'm not going to say she's a tough competitor, but she's definitely not weak. She proved that last season. Jenna also won the trivia challenge last season, but she was unable to repeat because the brainiac Nicole won. Not to take anything from Nicole's win, but her questions seemed easier than most of the others IMO. Trivia is always my (and Teej's) favorite episode every season, but it kind've lost its luster with the partner's going in the drink if their partner missed the questions instead of the person missing the questions going into the water. Yeah, the challengers are idiots, but I can't judge too harshly. It's not like I got them all right. I always miss the measurement questions and get offended when they miss the spelling and pop culture ones. They actually did better than I thought they'd do. Of course the bar is really low for the trivia challenge due to how others have performed in past seasons.

I still want those AYTO clowns, Dario and Raphy, out of the game followed by the Ex-plosion kids (Cory and Thomas). I hate to say this, but I kind of want Bananas to stick around. At least I know who he is. As long as he doesn't win again I'm good.

Miss him. But with a wife & kid I think we've seen the last of him.

The pit still favors the bigger players. Doesn't even have to be stronger, just the greater weight will provide the edge.

Jenna is one of the taller girls, though Aneesa thinks Jenna does squats for her buttocks.

These are my thoughts exactly. After I "made peace" with the fact Abe flung his own shit in a jail cell I realized I'm all in because there is probably no higher level if crazy he could reach after that. I also love CT and Derrick, you mean Derrick K though, right? They're my 3 fave. Guess I like my reality tv guys passionate and extreme.

Not a fan if Abe's tattoo explosion though. Apparently he and Michael own an art studio http://www.soundcolor.org/#!about/c18bc I know Abe has a bunch of brothers, I'm curious to see how Michael comes across. I don't even think Abe will do much to Thomas. Thomas and his twin are so goofy looking to me.

Rebecca, yeah, I mean Derrick K, the one who use to do the podcast. I always confuse him with that other Derrick who I'm not even familiar with. Derrick K is the only Derrick I know from the Challenge but I never get his last name right. Thanks for reminding me.

I'd also love to see Brad return (but not with his wife, ugh) and/or Randy (who I think only appeared on one challenge? eons ago).

One of my favorite Real World moments was when Brad & Randy dressed up as Super Mario Brothers.

I believe Randy appeared on two challenges.  One right after the San Diego season I think and he got kicked off right away(I think that whole RW cast did actually because it was right after their season and no one knew them and  one was when he was dating Kina. Ugh. I love Randy. I also love Issac, who doesn't last very long in these challenges. I also have a soft spot for Mark. Brad's fun but he got semi-annoying that season when he won with Tori and the season after, he was really mean. I didn't like him. I think my favorite challenger will probably be Landon, I just think he seems like a nice guy.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. I fucking love Abram.

I don't know about love but I do really like Abram.  I remember watching his season of RR and feeling terrible for him; he had lived in an all-white area, had never been exposed to people of color, and Donnell could not help but cut him down every chance he got for being "an ignorant redneck."  Even their fight could have been avoided had Donnell accepted any one of Abram's half-dozen attempts at apologizing for being his uncomfortable self.  Had Abram been cast on a more recent season, I feel he would have been embraced and educated by a diverse cast.  That said, he's done some terrible things to CM and I don't know why she'd still be living with him.

Dario and Raphy need to be my least favorite of the season.  Somebody hit the personality snooze-button on those two some time ago.  I'm rooting for Nany and I really like the happy+calm effect Nicole's presence has on her.

I still remember the challenge where Abram and Derrick were partnered up against Landon and Miz Mike, and I don't remember the particular task they had to do, but it was something that involved strength (I think) and you have the two smallest guys against the two biggest guys, and A&D actually won. They were just that scrappy. I would love to see Derrick back. I don't think it's impossible so I'll keep hoping.

I usually like Abram, but I was really disgusted by the 5 min makeout session between him and Cara Marie. I would have been mortified if I were her. Like seriously, in less than an hour you can go back to your bunk bed and do that. You really don't need to do that in front of a captive audience. I also thought CM seemed oddly gleeful about a potential incident involving Abram and Thomas. Weird.

Did Aneesa seriously threaten Corey, not within the context of the game? I get he was being disrespectful and obnoxious, but really, Aneesa, have a little dignity. You are acting the very definition of a woman scorned.

I thought Istanbul was the capital of Turkey. I got a few questions wrong, so I don't know how much smarter I am over those idiots. I know I'm smarter than Jenna, but that's not saying much.

I thought that too. And I also would have spelled genealogy the way Thomas did, with an O. In fact, I'm a pretty decent speller, but I need to see the word in order to know if it's right or wrong (particularly in the case of a three or four syllable word), so, spelling it without seeing it, under pressure, I can easily see myself missing words that I actually do know.

I thought most of the "trivia" was bullshit. You're not stupid because you don't know which actor played a certain role, or what his famous sibling's/father's/daughter's name is.

Well, they know by now how to score camera time on this show. That explains a lot of the entire cast's seemingly irrational behavior. Their motivation is right over there behind the (by now almost transparent) fourth wall.

There's a hilarious scene in the most recent Real World (don't watch it) in which two girls are screaming and throwing shit around and going berserker over some drama that totally doesn't seem worthy of such hysteria. You know, typical drama queen bullshit you see in every episode of every reality show now. Then they just suddenly stop, start laughing, and one of them asks something like, "Why are we screaming again?" It was funny to see them realize and admit what kind of producer-pleasing muppets they were being. It was an actual "real" moment, I think. Imagine that.

Yeah, that was gruesome with Timmy and the glass. Some of the older RW casts like original NY will be approaching 50 in a few years...think a few of the NY guys were born in the late 60s. Every time I think I hate this show and what it has become, I remind myself of just how long this show and its various spinoffs have lasted and I can't help but be a little impressed.

I watched the second Battle of the Sexes on youtube this weekend and watched while all the guys were talking about getting rid of Derrick since he was a drunk who talked to frogs and would be useless in missions. Then he ends up winning the mission for his team. Also, he was one of the few in the beginning of the Island to stand up for Tonya, even when it meant going against Kenny and Bananas. I wish he'd come back, but maybe with a kid at home that's just too much time away.

John Murray should throw us a bone and do like a mini challenge that maybe only lasts a week or even a weekend. Only people that appeared prior to 2005 would be invited. That might bring some of the older castmates who have jobs, kids, and lives out of the woodwork if they only have to be there a few days and aren't stuck in bunk beds with a bunch of 20 year olds.

De-lurking on this forum to say: bring back Derrick, Abram, Mark (original RR..yes, I am old) and CT and I'm all in.  Anyone remember Yes?  Bring him back, too.

I am far too old to still be watching these challenge shows.  So thank you, Abram, for showing up and giving me a flimsy but viable excuse for continuing to watch: and that excuse was, "Hey, someone I actually remember from Road Rules!  Must keep watching!"  And although I would not be able to handle his version of crazy in real life, he makes for scarily unpredictable television...and he and Cara Maria are an oddly perfect couple.  Should be interesting.

Now where is CT?!

As crazy as he is, I like Abram too. Every season that passes, I feel like there are less people that I actually know so it's nice to see someone on a Challenge who I do know. Plus he's from Road Rules which is just great.

I like Cara Maria too as she's probably my favorite female challenger and I'm rooting for her to win, but I wish she wasn't messing around with Thomas. She's actually a good competitor and doesn't need to do that sort of thing to stay in the game.

I've always wanted rookies to come together and stand up to the vets like Johnny, but like some of you have said, these rookies are not likeable at all.

I really liked Timmy. That might have been the first challenge I saw,
I'm not sure. I never saw his Real World or Road Rules season as my
first Real World was Chicago, but I've been watching the Challenge
longer than I was watching Real World. Last RW I saw was Brooklyn.
I like the challenges better.

Timmy was a sweet guy.

Derrick first came to my attention when he was about to start mending
his ways. I wasn't that familiar with him before. I think the first
time I paid any attention to him he'd broken a coffee table? And they
were all on his case, wanting to get rid of him. Probably that Battle
of the Sexes ep you mention, Tatum. He got better and stronger as the
challenges went on. It was great to see. I like when they all called
him "D."

I love the idea of a mini challenge with our old favorites. Great idea!

Hey, laurakaye, welcome. Yeah, a lot of us are too old to be watching
this. My friends are equally amused and embarrassed for me that I'm
still watching. I'm really fond of some of these assholes (on the show,
although I'm fond of my asshole friends too).

Yeah, Steph, I don't get why Cara has been fooling around with Thomas.
She's become quite a good challenger over the years, she doesn't need
him. She's the only one I'm rooting for to win.

I like that Aneesa still comes out to play. It's good to see some faces
I actually know. I don't really care for the influx of these idiots
from all the new MTV shows. I prefer the older idiots. :)

Yeah, I'm not liking these rookies either. Especially that other set

Thanks, Lantern. I'd forgotten about that thread. Will head over there.

Can somebody please refreshy memory of Timmy and the glass in his knees? I vaguely remember but cant recall details.

Thanks.

They were inside a series of a few glass boxes (I can't remember the exact number).  It was an elimination game, and, to win, you had to completely break through all the panes of glass in each box.  Timmy actually got done first, but, when he went to break one of the top panels, the whole panel popped out intact instead of breaking into pieces, so his escape didn't count.  And, in the process of breaking through those glass boxes, he pretty much shredded his legs and ended up with pieces of glass embedded in them.  (I think I got the general gist of it, it's been a while.)
