Kitty Redstone August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 Once Brooke learned the depths of their treachery we were presented with a whole new Brooke, which we refer to as Red Suit Brooke. She came in with her attorney Conner, who was absolutely fabulous himself, and blew up the Forrester's universe by demanding controlling interest in FC's. It'd be great to see this Brooke again. I've been watching for several years and have never seen even a glimpse of that character. Crying, passive, sometimes simpering Brooke is about all I've seen. I remember being floored upon learning she had a Chemistry degree and ran Forrester for awhile, because she did nothing that hinted she had much in the brains department. 2 Link to comment
tessaray August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 (edited) Ridge isn't a Forrester - This news hit Bell LA like a magnitude 10 earthquake, causing a seismic shift in the foundation of the show. Thorne, the "other Forrester brother", was actually Eric's eldest bio son, and it gave Brooke some much needed ammo in her war with Stephanie. Brooke/Deacon/Bridget/Hope - A polorizing SL, that forever changed the way viewers felt about Brooke. After months of fighting Bridget about her relationship/marriage to Deacon, Brooke, in a moment of weakness, began a lustmance with him. It also produced Hope, who was Bridget's half sister, and stepchild, and who was Brooke's daughter, but also her step grandchild. As with the BeLief SL, this one was full of great writing and performances by KKL, SK, JF, and SF. I will never ever forget when Stephanie found out and made Brooke look at herself in the mirror while screaming "you are NO heroine!". Stephanie Douglas's childhood - A really, really good SL that went a long way in explaining Stephanie's personality, and what drove her obsession with Ridge. It also introduced us to Stephanie's mother, played by the fabulous Betty White, and to her sister Pam, who still appears on the show played by Alley Mills. I appreciate all the storyline info. I'm quoting these because they appear to still affect people on the canvas. - I wondered if Stephanie's sister was the same person as the pearls lady who hangs out with the security guard. Thanks for confirming that. - I have no idea who Bridget is so I suppose I should look that up. :-) Sounds like that was a great soapy story. - Is Ridge a Forrester or not? Does B&B do that retcon of retcons thing I hate so much - especially with paternity stories? Edited August 31, 2014 by tessaray 1 Link to comment
godfreydaniels August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 . Like others, I'm trying to figure out what makes Deacon so appealing as a partner other than the ability to make someone scream in the middle of the day? And, even that grows old after a while when the man is broke, busted and disgusted! Plus, didn't you get the memo that this is the "All About Hope Show?" She is the one that Deacon wants to "prove" something to. Agree on Deacon. I like the Actor SK very much, but in this dog and pony show he looks more smarmy than appealing. I see him more as a villain instead of a leading man, and his little porn like moustahe does nothing to make me think he is desirable the way he's being portrayed. I'll take $Bill any day over him. NuRidge is nothing but a Debbie Downer in my opinion and poor Katie follows him around like a little puppy. Don't know if the Ivy character will work, as she is just a fill in for Steffy it seems. Aly and Oliver seem to be okay thus far. 1 Link to comment
kia112 August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 - Is Ridge a Forrester or not? Does B&B do that retcon of retcons thing I hate so much - especially with paternity stories? No, they didn't do a retcon of a retcon, but they don't mention it much, which I think is realistic. Especially since Ridge's "real" dad (Massimo Marone) is God knows where. Ridge was in his mid-40s when he found out (and Eric in his...what...late 60s when he found out? How old is Eric, anyway?) and so the man that he always knew as "dad" continues to be his dad and the man that Eric considered to be his son for 40+ years is still that. It gets real sketchy when you try to section families out on this show. You have someone like Rick Forrester -- Eric Forrester, Jr. -- and he's considered a Logan (by whatever Logan hater is currently on the canvas). This I can kind of see, because it's not like Rick was raised by Eric. Eric was, I'd say, a couple of notches above an absentee father during Rick's early years (same with Bridget). Then on the other hand, you have Hope Logan, who should be considered a Forrester because she was raised by Ridge for a good portion of her life (off screen). When Hope was SORASed into Kim Matula, she was calling Ridge "dad" and considered Steffy her sister. 4 Link to comment
St3phForrester September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 Happy Labor Day weekend 'Murica! Just saw on Twitter that Hunter Tylo has changed her name to Hunter Archila, which I think is her new man's name. Doesn't have quite the same ring to it, though, does it? Jessica's father is definitely John Forrester, her mother is Maggie Forrester, while all we know about Ivy's mother is that she's Australian (Sheila Forrester?). Plot twist!I'm also exasperated that the very talented Rena Sofer is being used to play Maleficent in the kiddie pool and I am exhausted by her cartoonish antics also. Me too. I'm still disappointed that TPTB didn't seize the opportunity early on to set up Brooke vs Quinn. I would have liked to have seen Quinn cosy up to Brooke as a "friend" for the purpose of gathering intel, and then have the friendship turn to shit when Quinn ultimately betrays Brooke somehow (Bill, I guess).Hunter Tylo claims it was her decision to leave the show, but I think what happened is that they took her off contract and offered her a recurring role (essentially a firing), so she "quit"... Taylor no longer had any real ties to anyone. She was perhaps Stephanie's closest friend, and once Steph died and all of her children left town, I guess they couldn't figure out what to do with her anymore. Pairing her up with the septuagenarian Forrester patriarch in The Worst Couple In History didn't do her any favours either. What is the current on-show explanation for where these characters are: Thorne? Taylor? Thomas? Mushmouth and Daisy? RJ? Jack? Donna? Caroline? I'm glad we saw Felicia in Paris, I thought she got lost in the supermarket or something. Donna is still seen working at FC with Pam, which is interesting (word used loosely) because, after her divorce from Eric & subsequent selling of FC stock to Bill, she shouldn't have to work, but she does. No idea where she lives, though - before Bill moved into the Logan mansion I think she was there, or she was at Katie's place before Ridge moved in. Perhaps she should ask Eric if he's got any spare beds in the Forrester Manse?IMO it's like Carter picked up a carton of milk, smelled that it was spoiled, drank it anyway, got all upset because the milk made him sick, and then acted like he deserves an award for surviving the experience. This is the best explanation of anything ever, Joimiaroxeu.I think there is an unpleasant (and perhaps unintentional) racial subtext to Caroline's treatment of Maya and the MWTs persist in writing Maya to make it appear that she deserves it. Just an idea - would this be negated if it were Caroline and Dayzee teaming up as Mean Girls against Maya? Dayzee wasn't hot on Maya going after Rick IIRC. They could have hassled Maya like Sally & Lauren used to hassle Stephanie. I think Linsey Godfrey & Kristolyn Lloyd could've worked well together in a plot like that. I didn't know Betty White was on the show so I checked out some Youtube clips. Wow. I'm so used to sitcom BW - those are some amazing scenes. She was fearsome. She really made me hate Ann and feel so much sympathy for Stephanie. (I know, right?) I didn't know I could love and respect Betty White even more than I already did! Not saying that Betty White and Fred Willard are in the same league, but I'm hoping FW's turn as John F will do something similar. (I refuse to let go of my excitement over an Eric storyline!!!)Ridge was in his mid-40s when he found out (and Eric in his...what...late 60s when he found out? How old is Eric, anyway?) I don't think it's ever been specifically mentioned, but when the show started there was a lot of press about John McCook being too young to be the patriarch so I guess we're to assume Eric is 10 years older? Which puts him at 80.Eric was, I'd say, a couple of notches above an absentee father during Rick's early years (same with Bridget). I think this was complicated by Brooke's involvement with Ridge - there was a period where no one could decide whether Ridge should act as Rick's brother or father, particularly when Bridge were parenting Bridget and assuming she was their daughter. IIRC it was when Brooke disappeared to Barbados (?) that Eric (and Stephanie) decided to fight for custodial rights and Eric figured it was time for him to be a bigger part of his children's lives. 3 Link to comment

Not for me since Caroline issues with Maya were mainly class based and Dayzee was about 2 steps out of a cardboard box her damn self. Dayzee's issue seemed to be that she didn't want any part of her past messing with her new Forrester life, but she apologized once Rick and Maya actually got together. Link to comment

Plus Dayzee's got her own issues with sucking up to the Forresters and being overly happy to be occasionally invited to mix with the folks up in the big house because of her husband. It might be better to bring in a whole new character who isn't already tainted. Edited September 1, 2014 by Joimiaroxeu 1 Link to comment

kia112 September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 It might be better to bring in a whole new character who isn't already tainted. This. Also, when Caroline was going off the rails, making unwanted advances on Rick, they brought on a friend for her. Rafael was there as a confidant and a co-conspirator. Oliver could have been that for Maya, but she tanked that relationship. Even so, he was still nice enough to tell her not to embarrass herself on Friday. I don't like that the characters on the show were all "Oh, that crazy Caroline. Gotta love her. She has a heart of gold underneath it all." during her hijinks and Maya is just a joke that everyone snickers at. Link to comment
Anna Yolei September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 (edited) It might be better to bring in a whole new character who isn't already tainted.Except the writers seem to always find a way to tank their new characters, even ones that were interesting for longer than five minutes like Quinnsane. Caroline is the only new character in recent memory that improved over time, and even that was a fluke to prop up the Rick/Maya relationship.I will give BB the benefit of the doubt on the racism issue, because the pattern of trashing a character to write them out is a well established pattern with this show, as is women throwing away any vestige of self respect for a man they should've walked away from long ago (which would included Caroline last year). And, as others have said for months, it's puzzling why TIIC are going this route almost a year after they split up and the two of them have had limited screen time since. blackwing September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 Why would Brooke even be interested at all in Deacon? Her fling with Deacon severely damaged her relationship with her daughter. Wouldn't any thought of Deacon recall the pain that she caused Bridget? Why would she even entertain the thought? Surely there are plenty of other men in Bell A if she isn't interested in Ridge or Bill anymore. kimmy482 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 Did I hear Deacon correctly? Did he actually say something along the lines of "Anyone would've done the same thing" to Hope when she was talking about marrying Wyatt a few minutes after Liam failed to appear on schedule at la Tour Eiffel? I can't think of a single person (well, aside from Liam and Steffy) who would think that's a good and normal response to being (allegedly) stood up. Speaking of Deacon, I'm still trying to figure out why anyone on canvas is even speaking to him in the first place, let alone inviting him to parties, into their homes, etc. like he's a long-lost friend. How did we go from Ridge dumping Brooke on their umpteenth honeymoon because she dared to text Deacon about leaving Hope alone...to him showing up everywhere with nobody batting an eyelash? Oy, that spoiler makes my head hurt too. So of course it'll happen. 5 Link to comment

Anna Yolei September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 (edited) I hope that spoiler doesn't happen, but if it does, it might be a prelude to something like what happened to Amber there before. I hope. The show has had a lot of well done stories, even in recent years, IMO. I just don't think they've recovered from SF and RM leaving. It may have put a kink in Brad Bell's plans. They haven't gotten the right couples together, or aren't willing to commit to them anyway. Then LG's pregnancy threw a kink in what good have been a great year for Ric and Caroline. Why not write in LG's pregnancy? Since the show seem committed to them being together and Brooke's other granchild is offscreen. Then maybe Maya's attitude would make some more sense. And it shows how shoddy and poorly prepared TIIC were that SF's leaving left such an empty hole storywise. For years, Bell has relied on the vets to carry so much of the stories, but especially Stephanie...which would be okay, if anyone was allowed to change and grow. Would it have been so bad to let Taylor and Brooke bury the hatchet with Ridge out the picture? Or if they must continue to fight, let it be over poor forgotten Jack "Judy Winslow" Marrone-Logan. smartyshorts September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 Did you know Ridge is a world renowned fashion designer? All of Forrester creations would crumble into the Pacific if he didn't design some couture (we will just forget that he was MIA for over a year and everything seemed to go just fine, did he email in some drawings or something?) But if someone somewhere doesn't see at least ONE penciled figure wearing a skirt, heads WILL roll. maybe if he held his pencil like a writing instrument and not like a giant mixing spoon he's trying to eat a bowl of cereal with...but I digress. So what does the "ghosting" of Caroline's drawings portend? He 'steals' her designs? He convinces her to submit her designs under his name? Does he disappear for another "walkabout" and Caroline designs the couture line again? Maybe he can go to the 'treatment facility' that Quinn used! She's all better now, see! Widened eyes and a non threatening hand on her chest mean she totes means ALL of her apologies and she'll never ever EVER do it again! (Pinky swear). Is Deacon high? All the time. St3phForrester September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 I'm not gonna lie, I loved the Caroline/Ridge stuff. All it needed was for Maya to pop up and say "You in danger, girl". Also, when Caroline was going off the rails, making unwanted advances on Rick, they brought on a friend for her. Rafael was there as a confidant and a co-conspirator. And it was fun. This was the time when I started watching and it was Caroline & Rafael + Eric/Brooke that sucked me in, later followed by Brooke's Birthday Disaster. The show needs that kind of friendship again to lighten it up from the heavy drama the triangles monotonously deliver week after week. The show has had a lot of well done stories, even in recent years, IMO. I just don't think they've recovered from SF and RM leaving. It may have put a kink in Brad Bell's plans. They haven't gotten the right couples together, or aren't willing to commit to them anyway. Agreed. (I was going to say something else to this, but I've forgotten it.) The show is also doing a huge disservice to longtime viewers by not bringing back Ashley Jones, now that Deacon is permanently in the cast again. I bet most people would rather see her than the Continually Amazing Adventures of Hopeless, Chicken and Beady Eyes. Agreed again. I don't have a dog in the Brooke/Bill/Deacon/Ridge/Whoever Else fight, but having one of the major characters involved in the story that originated the Brooke/Deacon "relationship" absent from the story that attempts to reconnect them lacks the oomph to propel it forward and put it in a frontburner position. And it's not like Ashley Jones is committed anywhere in particular, so that's no obstacle to adding Bridget into the mix. But in saying that, did Ashley Jones's Bridget ever interact with Deacon? From what I've seen it was all Jennifer Finnegan, and AJ's major love interest was Crap Wagner. Obviously recasts happen in soaps and you readjust, but would it be strange to see AJ & SK rehashing stuff that didn't happen between them? Would it have been so bad to let Taylor and Brooke bury the hatchet with Ridge out the picture? The way the story went immediately after Stephanie's death seemed to set up Team Brooke & Team Taylor in a sort of Battle of the Generations setup, which would have been fine except that Team Taylor suddenly and spectacularly disbanded six months in and forfeited by default to Team Brooke, thereby completely unbalancing the dynamic of the cast of characters so that we had essentially two Forresters left semi-fulltime, and the rest of the numbers made up by Logans and Spencers. And when the Logans and the Spencers are (literally) in bed together, the story starts to row with one oar. Am I the only one who thinks that Deacon doesn't look so good? One of his eyes is noticeably bigger than the other. Or is that just a squinty "acting" choice? No idea, but you're not the only one with that opinion, blackwing. I don't get the appeal myself, but then my tastes are not so conventional so I'm not throwing stones. 2 Link to comment

After a sneak peek at Deacon's diary and To-Do List, I found these rather interesting entries to explain what he does all day as well as his mindset: 1) Read Kevin Federline's biography, How to Effectively Parent Children With Wealthy Mothers. 2) Tweet my followers for whom I am a role model: #IcebergSlimWasMisunderstood. 3) Show up at Brooke's mansion with a decorator to measure the drapes and redecorate the spare bedroom next to Brooke's master suite with a velvet picture of a nude man and woman from my old pad, incense holders, a poster of Isaac Hayes, shag carpeting, a ceiling mirror and a brass waterbed with a fur coverlet. 4) Go through Brooke's sub-zero refrigerator and start labeling items so that my food doesn't get mixed up with hers and Hope's. 5) Open classifieds section of The Los Angeles Times, circle a few prospects with red ink, and place it on the coffee table in the great room to "show" Brooke I'm actually out here hustling and looking for work (hee heeee!). 6) Contact the guard at the security gate and have my name added to the list of residents and insist he start screening Brooke's visitors more carefully from now on--especially arrogant dark-haired men with beards driving expensive cars. 7) Borrow my batshit crazy benefactress' car to drive to the Beverly Hills Post Office and fill out a change-of-address card. 8) Meeting Quinn for lunch to discuss our "plan" and so she can drive me to Hope and Wyatt's. 9) Pilfer spare key from Hope's purse so that I can make a duplicate and return it with her being none the wiser. 10) With my new key in tow, let myself into Brooke's mansion and draw her bath water to show her how indispensable I can be. 11) Try to explain that I AM looking for work--I'm just waiting for a job to show up at the door, thank you very much! 22) Ignore nosy housekeeper who's giving me the fish eye and murmuring under her breath. Oh wait...did this bitch just call me a deadbeat?! 23) Fall down and twist ankle when Brooke comes out of her dream daze and inevitably demands that I leave her house. 24) Play on Brooke's guilt when the tears inevitably start to fall. After all, if her housekeeper wouldn't wax the floors every damn day, this wouldn't have happened! Hmmmm...maybe she did it on purpose? 25) Insist on doctor that makes house calls with a hot nurse in tow. 26) Lay up in my newly decorated bedroom like the king of the heap and order carryout while I watch Maury on my new flat screen TV while everyone else is working. 27) Laugh at the parade of bimbos on Maury who don't know who their baby-daddy is. Smugly realize that the only thing separating me and those slack-jawed sperm donors on the show is that I live in a Beverly Hills mansion! 28) Fire Brooke's lazy-ass housekeeper without a reference for mouthing off at me because I DARED to suggest that she needed to not only clean up after me, but to also watch WHO she allows in Brooke's house when she's not home. Freakin' ingrate! 29) Put off the doctor who insists on a follow-up visit to reexamine my ankle to see how I'm progressing. 30) When Brooke notices that I seem to be getting better, fall down on my bum ankle and scream in excruciating pain. 31) Oh, snap! There go those tears again! I hate seeing her cry, but she needs me to look out for her--oh, yeah--and Hope, too! 32) Tell that ditzy broad, Quinn, for the thousandth time that I'm NOT interested in giving her the high hard one! Sheeee-it! I can't stand it when people can't catch a hint! Edited September 3, 2014 by MulletorHater 14 Link to comment
luvlee2003 September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 [qoute]and all of Amber's pregnancy with Marcus's baby was good. My favorite part of that story was in the delivery room when Tawny commented to Bill "hmm...the baby looks a little tan" lol. Plus Marcus' lackadaisical "we hang out sometimes" when Justin confronted him about if he'd been sleeping with Amber was hilarious. Hope? Fix your face boo. Jealousy isn't becoming of you. I have to say, I enjoyed Ridgepen's scenes with Caroline. He has a nice smile. I haven't seen him smile once on this show. I blame Katie. 6 Link to comment
kia112 September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 Oh, Ivy. If I didn't like you before, I love you now! Hope's cracked face when she was eavesdropping on Ivy and Aly was a thing of beauty. And when Ivy called her on her passive aggressive Princess tra-la-la-la-laing -- "Don't stop talking on account of me; Mmm. Yes, Maya does have a beautiful smile." -- all while staring daggers at Ivy, it was so great. Steffy wasn't my favorite, but I like this girl. Like, I wanna hang out with her for real. Hope blaiming Ivy for falling into the Seine instead of shouldering responsibility for not waiting was really rich. I can't wait until she finds out her coo-coo for cocoa puffs mother-in-law orchestrated the whole thing. Anyone who takes Hope down a notch is fine by me. That's one of the reasons I loved Quinn at first 12 Link to comment
KerleyQ September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 I feel ashamed, but I kind of love bitchy Hope. Seriously. That is the most fun I've had watching Hope ever. Stay bitchy, Hope. Please. 6 Link to comment

And as someone who hates the whole "those damn Logans!" thing Ridge's brats (and Taylor) were constantly spouting, I loved that when Ivy played that card, Hope turned it around and said that Ivy was hired to work under Hope's name. (Of course, whether Hope should have a line is another story, but she does, so...) I had a tiny hint that one of two things is going to happen with Ridge/Caroline. Either he's going to start obsessing over her because she's the only person who can help him draw again, or Katie is going to decide that, because he can only draw with her, Caroline is a threat to her sad little ribbon ring, and she's going to go bat crap trying to thwart what she thinks is a budding relationship. Either way, it should be unintentionally hilarious. Although I am counting on LG to intentionally add some hilarity, because she's awesome that way. 5 Link to comment

It will be interesting to see if Kringe can pass the "Not Thinking or Talking About Brill" test because that's the only thing that has kept them going for months. I wouldn't be surprised if Katie hopped on her broom and hightailed it to Bill to angrily harangue him about his wayward niece and how he just had to get her in line. Maybe one day she'll have a Jan Brady moment and look in the mirror and tearfully realize that it's not Brooke; it's not Caroline; it's "plain old YOUUUU!" I read a spoiler elsewhere that Brooke and Katie try to reconcile over lunch . Of course, this will be on Katie's terms and she will demand help to hold onto her house of cards relationship. 2 Link to comment
RuntheTable September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 I had a tiny hint that one of two things is going to happen with Ridge/Caroline I read some spoilers that indicate, That Caroline becomes Ridge's new muse, and that Maya "sees" something and nearly breaks her neck trying to get to Rick to tell him. The spoilers kind of say she is successful in coming between Caroline and Rick. 1 Link to comment

He lost his "gift" and he cant man up to admit it to Rick. Caroline isn't ready to be head designer at Forrester, which is why she sought Ridge's help. I do think Ridge should go to a therapist, mental and/or physical, to get back in form, but the partnership with Caroline was pretty awesome. I hope she doesn't develop a stupid crush on him or something like that. He's old enough to be her father. Have only read the recap but cannot wait to get home and watch today's episode. Ivy is no fool and I'm so glad she dropped the Forrester card toute suite! Before trying to put people in their place, she needs to remember her own. And I know the family loves her like she is a Forrester, but bottom line is she's not. And she has a lot of nerve not wanting Liam to date when she got married to his damn brother 15 minutes after thinking she'd been shown up. And sorry, Dope, you could fire Ivy from your line -- maybe -- but she can't fire her from the company or the Forrester family. ICYMI: I am so not a fan of Hope's. Or her parents. As someone noted above, the dopy look Brook was wearing yesterday when Deacon was spewing his con had me amazed. Is she actually considering him? Like mother like daughter. Also, maybe memory escapes me, but I don't recall the three of them ever being a family. Did Brooke and Deacon have a relationship other than the soft-porn sex they had on daytime TV? kia112 September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 (edited) I feel like I'm splitting hairs at this point, but when Hope was talking about how clear she made it to Liam that if he didn't show up at the Eiffel tower it meant their relationship was over, I was like, "Err?" She and Liam had just had a fight over her acceptance of the Dope Diamond and what kind of signals it sent to Wyatt when she was like, "Whatever. Let's just get married." And she left it unresolved. "I'm gonna be there. I hope you will, too." I'm not saying that Liam not showing up at the Eiffel tower would have sent the best signal for their relationship. To me, it just would have meant that he wasn't ready to get married because they still have some things that were unresolved between them. Edited September 3, 2014 by kia112 2 Link to comment

Did Brooke and Deacon have a relationship other than the soft-porn sex they had on daytime TV? He keeps talking about their family being together "again." I don't think they were ever really together, except perhaps very briefly. I think she went back to Ridge after the affair was exposed. Deacon has had very little role as a parent to Hope. Brooke has always raised her. During the SORAS years, Brooke was with Ridge, so presumably, Ridge helped to raise her. When Hope was in Italy getting married to Liam, there was the whole "Ridge can't design Hope's dress out of loyalty to his other daughter Steffy" and then "Ridge wants to walk his daughter down the aisle", and I'm pretty sure there was at least one conversation where Hope told Ridge he was like a father to her and Ridge said she was like a daughter. There's always been confusion about whether there was a legal adoption, but it was clear that Hope and Ridge thought of each other as father and daughter. And then there is this shit. What was that yesterday with Hope calling Deacon "Dad" and telling him that she loves him? She doesn't even KNOW him. He was largely gone from her life for the first 6 years, and then presumably the 15 after that. "Your parents, together again!" Made me sick. I despise both incarnations of Ridge, but I would take Ridge over Deacon any day. Can't stand Deacon, and it seems inevitable to me that Brooke is going to marry him. It seems fairly obvious after Brooke made a point to say that Bridget has forgiven both of them for the affair that ruined her marriage. Edited September 3, 2014 by blackwing 3 Link to comment

blackwing September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 I don't think there was ever an adoption, which is why Hope's last name is Logan. Her name is Logan because I thought Brooke wasn't married at the time of Hope's birth, and she wasn't going to give her the last name of Sharpe. At one point, Nick was going to adopt her. Then Nick and Brooke broke up, she went back to Ridge, and it was never really clear. Regardless, it was very clear that Ridge thought of her as his daughter, whether as adoptive father or stepfather. He could have adopted her, and they just didn't change her name. It would have been a decision that would have been made by Brooke and Ridge, and perhaps Ridge wanted her to retain the identity and name of Logan. Maybe they didn't want everyone on the show to be named Forrester. Just because her name isn't Forrester doesn't necessarily mean that she wasn't adopted. I wish the show would definitively clear this up once and for all, but family relationships aren't exactly Bradley's strong suit. When Thomas and Rick got into a hissy, the show held it out to be "battling stepbrothers", Brooke and Ridge were married at the time. When really, Rick is Ridge's (half)brother, so it should have been "uncle vs. nephew". During the endless Hope/Steffy wars, they never really played up the sister angle, it was just Brooke's daughter vs. Ridge's daughter. When Aly was first SORASed, Hope introduced Aly to someone as "my cousin", which suggests that she thinks of herself as Ridge's daughter. But then Aly said "she's not really my cousin". So perhaps this is a clue that there was no legal adoption? Then again, people (notably Prick Marone) still claimed that Ridge wasn't really a Forrester, so it could be one of those things. In the end, I guess my point is that Hope has always thought of Ridge as her father, and that Ridge was more of a father to Hope than Deacon ever was. So it disgusts me that all of a sudden now this greasy shifty con man is being treated like family by everyone concerned. 3 Link to comment
