I didn't understand why he specifically refrained from telling him that.

The only reason I could come up with was that he's saving it for when Sonny is actually holding a gun to Ava's head.

FakeSon's name didn't pop up either fortunately.

Which was perfectly correct. Ethan never knew Ruby. Just because he's Luke's son (NEVER) doesn't mean he needs to be involved in every Spencer family event. I doubt he could pick Ruby's photo out of a group.

I thought today was half-way decent, except for some laughable acting by Tony Geary. No seriously, I actually laughed out loud when Fluke screamed out "FALCONERI" and then what was that irish (???) accent in the last scene. It's too bad Helena didn't slit Fluke's throat and then kick him into the open grave.

Someone please escort him out of the studio and put him on a one way flight to Amsterdam.

Anyway, Maura was so dang good with that baby. Is there a man, woman, or child that she doesn't click with?!?

I have really enjoyed much of Tony Geary's work in the past - but this story has taken him into an OTT campy and melodramatic place that I'm finding uncomfortable to watch.

But then there is the amazing Maura West - who can do it all well.  Her scenes with baby Avery today were my episode highlight!

Something happened today that pretty much confirmed for me that fake Luke is not the real Luke, but now I can't remember what it was and there is absolutely no way I'm going to watch the episode again just to figure it out.

Aside from wanting Michael dead, is there any particular  reasonable reason that Fluke wants to kill the Spenser family.

No.  But there's no particular reason for any of the stuff that's been done in this story.  I'm going to make a list or maybe even a chart of who did what to whom as part of or under orders of the LoD.  I'll probably need some help remembering everything, but I know it's going to be hilarious.  Hilariously long and non-sensical.

The Fluke story just feels like it's going on forever.... I'm still not sure if we're to rope in the Robin kidnapping, Jason getting shot, town getting the water poisoned.. or if this is a separate story. Because hasn't everyone been reporting to a 'Mr. Big' and Fluke is that guy. So, really this has been going on in one way or another for three years (since Robin was first kidnapped and found herself being kept by Dr. O). Will the end really be worth this much build up?

This is a great start to said list...

The idea that Nina is now supposedly a "victim" is absolutely loathsome to me. After everything she's done? Um, no. But I wouldn't mind Heather torturing her at all. I just won't feel sorry for her.

I don't love her being portrayed as a victim, but it doesn't bother me.  In a way, she *was* a victim - her mother did kill her fetus and put her in a coma.  When she woke up she had missed 20 years and still had the maturity of a young twenty-something.  Not to mention possible mental illness or altered thinking brought on by the coma. I'm not excusing the terrible stuff she did, but I've always thought she had some major issues that were not dealt with.  The story of how hard it was waking up and not recognizing her body and having her mom and Silas be so much older and not understanding the world around her could have been a great story.  Instead, they made jokes about "goggling" and turned her in to a murderous, shrieking, bug-eyed, baby-needing lunatic.

Nice to see for ourselves that Carly is still completely ignoring Morgan and Joss. She'd rather prop herself (I have good instincts - WTF?) and play rescue with her new friend, that she's known for a sum total of about a week. Helena's phones are really behind the times, aren't they?

So, worse attempt at overacting? Fluke in the cemetery today, or Franco last year in that godawful scene? This show, I swear.

I liked the Johnny/Lulu scenes. When he leaned in and gave her that smile, I would have been done right there. Sorry, I like Dante, but I would not be turning down Johnny in any way, shape, or form.

"She's miiiiiiiiiiiine." Sonny is a disgusting pig.

Maura was incredible, please give her all the Emmys now. Just flat out freaking killed it. And yeah, Avery is a great little actress, with her hand against the glass. And she was grabbing the phone cord because she wanted to talk to her mom, damn it. I could watch Ava interact with her gorgeous baby all day long and be just fine. Silas, meh. He still has no ability to emote.

@Turtle:

There was something Fluke said to Helena today that made me think he isn't really Luke, but then he referred to Dante as his son-in-law to Helena too. I just want them to reveal Fluke is, whoever he is, and be done with it. Six month story my ass.

But then there is the amazing Maura West - who can do it all well. Her scenes with baby Avery today were my episode highlight!

Don't you mean "Avery bavery"?

He's beyond nauseating. You would think that being in prison for murder would have lessened Sonny's appetite for the kill, but that would require having more morals - and the capacity to learn from his mistakes - than a hungry weasel, and that just ain't how he rolls.

I will stab myself in the neck if this happens. I lived through Zarf (AMC) and I can't do it again.

Oh God, Zarf.  I haven't thought about that shit in years, thankfully.  I'm going to have to go retreat to my safe place now.

If Julian wants Sonny to agree not to kill Ava why not tell him that the reason Fluke wants to off Ava is because she refused to kill Michael?  Sonny may not give up on the idea entirely but it might buy her a little less enmity.  I didn't understand why he specifically refrained from telling him that.

Wait, Julian is trying to get Sonny to agree to not kill Ava?  Sure thing, Julian.  I mean, he didn't keep the promise he made to Michael to not kill AJ, but I'm sure he'll totally keep his word to you and not kill Ava.  Clearly Julian needs to get away from Sonny.  The stupid is apparently contagious. I mean, seriously, he'll even have the same damn reason for going back on his word to you that he did for going back on his word to Michael - "she killed...ummmm...hang on, wait, her name will come to me, you know, Who's Her Blonde, the one with another chick in her head.  The blond half of the set of cousins I boffed... Umm...I want to say Carrie?  And she was the love of my life!!!"

Sonny pretty much has learned nothing. Hasn't learned to maybe ease up on all the murder, hasn't learned to give more than a cursory thought to his other kids, still hasn't learned to stop having sex with Carly.

Which is fine. At this point it's not really realistic to expect him to change. But then don't have stuff like Maxie cooing to Nathan that Sonny has a code. Maxie! Who Sonny contemplated killing once!

Has Helena explained how she is going to keep Nikolas in line once pretty much everyone he loves gets blown up?  She is all nonchalant about this plot of Fluke's, yet I doubt Nikolas will be thrilled when his sister, aunt and cousin are blown to bits.  And I am guessing Liz might be there as well.

Shawn really is too stupid to live.  He couldn't take 5 minutes to put the dirt back in the grave?

IMO, it isn't fine because they do have stuff like Maxie cooing to Nathan about Sonny's code. Because that's the show either condoning Sonny's bullshit or trying to have it both ways. Pick one, you're going to be right.

I resent as a  viewer that Michael hasn't had a single ally in this entire fallout story.  Everyone is on Carly, Sonny, or Morgan's side and somehow Michael is the villain for not forgiving all of them after two months.

In a way, Michael is following in his father's footsteps.  No one ever stood up for A.J. or took his side when he was alive either.*

* - Alan gave a memorable smack-down of the Q's indifference towards one of their own at one point, but that was when everybody thought A.J. was dead.  So, as magnificent as it was, it was still too little, too late.

Why, Daddy, why?

I am *so* tired of Luke/Fluke/Flake, whatever. Who gives a shit who he really is. Tony Geary should be *ashamed* of the crap he's shovelling right now.

I loved Ava and Avery. Great scenes. And Silas wasn't bad either.

DIE SONNY DIE!!! What a dick. I fastforward all his scenes (sorry Julian). I cannot take him.

I liked the scene with Bobbie, Lucas and Lulu. Loved the Aunt Ruby mention and her photograph. Aw. I loved that bit of history.

Bobbie actually looked good. It wasn't painful to look at her.

Jake is the most boring storyline ever. And with Carly in tow, they are both ff material.

Hopefully it will be better once his true identity is revealed. But for right now, this is almost as bad as Brenda's re-introduction in 2010.

I think Geary's trying, but he's just too tired or something. I think the last time Geary turned in a good melodramatic performance was in the Jake story probably.

Well, I look at the Fluke story like this - Geary brought money and notoriety to the genre by somehow catching on as the lead of this show..... and that's never really gone away. It's waned and changed but Luke Spencer is still this shows main character (I guess Sonny fans would disagree). So if he wants a vanity storyline where he gets to do whatever the f he wants for a year, I guess we can give him that. But hopefully this gets wrapped up in a reasonably decent fashion and soon and then, after a few weeks of Luke being back as his old self, we get him riding off into the sunset somehow.

Doesn't mean I won't snark on the Fluke storyline til it's buried as deep (or maybe deeper) than Bill Eckhart's grave.... but I can understand why the show is giving him this much campy rope.

As some posters have mentioned, I too feel bad it doesn't look like we'll see Laura, Lucky or Ethan in this farewell story.

What the fuck is on Luke's head?

Avery the baby is so cute. That baby actor is great! It's like it knew what to do in the scene.

Johnny puffed up. Dante looks cute.

Fluke/Luke/Bill's primal scream and the graveyard why that dramatic overhead camera angle of it was so cheesy. This show embarrasses me.

From all I read, this 'crap' is his reward for re-signing this year.

A quote from a Yr 2014 TV Guide interview with Geary at

  http://www.tvguide.com/news/anthony-geary-luke-1083604/

"TV Guide Magazine: You're clearly having a ball with this story and your work — especially in the scenes where Fluke met Luke — has been spectacular. I haven't seen you this turned on by the writing in years!"

"Geary: Thank you very much. That's wonderful to hear. Doing Fluke has been a real cleansing after all my years of complaining and wondering what happened to Luke's black hat. To be able to take something this far and this dark has been a real joy after 36 years. Of course, we had to do it with a different character, since Luke is not a sociopath."

Not to say that Geary hasn't tried this for Luke, but some of the writers and, I've read, "directors," have been disquieted by some of his ideas while RC and FV love them, at least as shown via 'Fluke.'

Geary once said, in an interview, that he wanted them to use his idea that Luke would reject Lulu because he hated the idea that Nicholas' blood was now also flowing through her veins (from some life-saving transfusion).  I guess the writers back then may have felt that this idea was probably a bit much.

I'm bothered these days by what seems to be a sort of lovingly sadomasochisic focus in the several sequences now showing Fluke threatening to bash Luke's head with that bat.  There's entirely too much of it.  The associated hamminess in these scenes is also getting to me.

Oh yeah, it's Pat!

'

While they keep dropping anvils that this is where they're going, you'd think that Bobbie might remember that 'Pat' looked just like Luke and Bill  :-)

@DayPlayerAtKellys

Genie Francis also brought money and notoriety to the genre and has barely been treated to common courtesy in return. And didn't she have to save Geary by returning as Laura because be flopped on his own as Bill? He has not earned or deserves a vanity project; no actor in any genre does, unless they want to finance it themselves. I highly doubt even big stars like Viola Davis and James Spader are given this much rope.

@pitchy

Thank you for posting that. Tony really is an asshole, wanting Luke to reject Lulu because Nik's blood saved her life. I will be dressing up and celebrating with a bottle of wine when Luke/Fluke/whoever da fuck finally exits stage left forever.

God help me but I have liked the past two days. The Luke/Fluke thing may be camp and silly and TG may be eating the set, but at least something is happening for Christ's sake. It is better than three days in a airport with Naxie, or the "tearful" good bye of a couple of physco-paths on the docks when Fasion and Britt left and O cried. And I would rather watch Luke/Fluke  then Spencer any day of the week. So, its not bad.

I do laugh at the way Ava, Julian, Franco., Magda and Sonny all seem to have the run of the prison. Movement in a Max (not that Magda or Franco would be in a Max, they are both likely medium material)  is much more controlled. But again at least something is going on. I see Magda biting the dust in the escape attempt which will be funny since she is the only one Not escaping.

"Geary: Thank you very much. That's wonderful to hear. Doing Fluke has been a real cleansing after all my years of complaining and wondering what happened to Luke's black hat. It seems it is not DID Geary says it is a different character

Geary once said, in an interview, that he wanted them to use his idea that Luke would reject Lulu because he hated the idea that Nicholas' blood was now also flowing through her veins

This may be appalling but i could have seen GF and TG being able to play this back in the day. It would have had to be short lived, and subtle, not wanting to pick her up and such, it could have been a real emotional melt down for Luke, back when Luke and Soaps in General had emotion. As a long time Luke fan I have  thought for years that both the writers and Geary get it wrong. Luke is not a good guy nor is he a bad guy. He is in the middle. Luke should have been played as a man who never wanted to be in love, never wanted to care, never wanted to settle down, never wanted to have children, but who when all those things happened managed to be decent at it. I speak here from personal experience. I would not trade Mrs Flyaki, the kids and the Grandbaby for anything, but on occasion I sit on the back stoop beer in hand and watch the sun set wishing I could go chase it, and there is always a bag packed in my car, Mrs F knows I will never use it, but it gives me comfort.....Luke is the personification of the old Glen Campbell Song "Gentle on my Mind."

On some deep level I think that Geary gets this, his ego just gets in the way. Yesterday when he pleaded for the life of his family, this was the Luke I knew in the 90's and who got lost in antics with Tracy, Laura's madness and the death of Jake.

Tony actually made that sentiment slip a bit into the writing. I forget who he was confiding to - maybe Ray DeLucca - it was circa 2000 - and very mitigated, Luke said something about not loving Lulu any less, but something had changed, that it reminded him now of how the Cassadines came and ruined their lives.

I don't really hold it against him anymore, since they've never touched it since and I think Tony got over it a long time ago, especially after Lulu was SORASed.

I have no horse in this race (other than the one named "Just Get This Shit Over With Already! Jesus!!") But, I don't think that rules it out.  TG could be looking at an alter as "another character."  I think that, on OLTL, for example, you could have gotten away with calling Viki's alter, Niki Smith, another character.  He also could just be wording it that way to save Ron's "big super secret twist."

Luke ssid something about not loving Lulu any less, but something had changed, that it reminded him now of how the Cassadines came and ruined their lives.

See this is the kind of sub content that is missing now a days. Geary's idea that Luke never wanted a family is put to shame by the words and feeling  of the character, the Cassadines ruined their lives. Meaning that before Stefan and Nicholas the Spencers had a good life.

Geary is currently playing both Fluke/Luke with no sub content. If Fluke is Pat, or Bill then how did s/he become so evil. Remember s/he is not just seeking revenge on Luke and Sonny, s/he is a drug dealer and murderer. How did whatever Luke may have done to s/him trigger that? Where are the layers? If it is not Pat/Bill, and is Gino or Harlan or (still my personal choice) Damian Smith then Geary needs to show the layers, Ron needs to write the layers.

One thing that has been shown, IMHO time and time again is that if you give Geary a deep script, even if he disagrees with it, he can play it. Unlike most folks I loved his show down with Lucky. Geary played the "I am free" part with just enough sub content that you could tell Luke was lying and was doing this to push Lucky away because he felt he no longer deserved Lucky's love. Similarly in the moment at the Haunted Star when he slapped Lucky after pointing out that he was Not Tim Spencer, you could see the horror on his face when he realized He was exactly like Tim (at least in his own mind)

Here there is no sub content. Geary is playing camp but I wonder if that is because he is being given camp to play. If you look no one is being given anything with any meat on it: Naxie is a light love story, Sonny/Julian/Ava/Franco are much more Hogan's Heroes, with smuggled phones and easily purchased Guards, then  the darkness of Oz or even Michael and Jason's last tour of Pentonville, Carly and Jake are about to enter a tango with Sam and Patrick that will be much more romantic caper than Physco Thriller.  Nothing is played with sun context any more and pointing out Geary's faults in playing Fluke may be fair, but the truth is it can now be said about the whole show.

I am not saying we need Guza levels of dark, but we do need real drama: Monica's Breast Cancer, Robin's AID's. Brenda shot at in the shower, Domique dying, Lulu's illness and the dark prince's arrival. Balanced against Foster and Annabelle, Lucy and Sigmund, Kevin and Mac in drag. In other words a well rounded show

Speaking of Luke and shit, someone posted a picture and pointed out that it looks like he was trying to go right in the graveyard, and it really really does. oh Tony Geary.

Roger Howarth last year was still worse though. He was thrusting against the air with his pelvis at one point.

Next time Luke starts in on one of his, "when we were on the run in the 80s" spiels, I'm gonna think of Rose and her "back when I was in St Olaf" speeches.

Watch, we'll get a flashback 5 months from now where that actually happened between the bar and the next scene. :shakes head: you crazy ladies. More gollum Dante for me.

I'm having a lot of fun with the strike through feature today.

So then why recast? That plot can't have very long legs

Maybe Sloane will start regretting it? I don't care, as long as Anna gets to hate fuck him once before he goes. Ugh, I really hope Grayson McCouch (which I just found out like a week ago actually sounds like McCooch and I'm still kinda giggling because I'm 12) is still decent and hasn't turned to absolute shit, both physical and acting wise, since the last time I watched him.
