Lee Daniels the creator of Empire is a guest tomorrow.  I wonder if Whoopi will once again beg to be on the show.  Maybe it's just me but a EGOT winner hitting up guests for jobs seems tacky.

All the shows are having there season premiers this week and next and the only ABC stars I see listed is Sofia Vergara and Anthony Anderson.  It says a lot when the View's own network can't produce guests.

What? You mean they didn't talk about how big of an ASS Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital (ABC soap)) made of herself on Twitter when Viola won her Emmy? And when she got schooled, she's now all like "why is everyone being so mean to me?"

The mind, it boggles.

And no, I'm not being totally sarcastic. This sound like something that is totally in their Wheelhouse.

I guess since there was so much controversy last week, they decided they would take a different tact this week and bore us all into a coma.

And this is what we probably have to look forward to now.  Cohosts who are going to be afraid of pissing someone off.

I didn't mind Pam's appearance on the show today. She seemed put together and it was like she was speaking from the heart about her kids. I guess Whoopi really has taken it upon herself to help the medical marijuana movement because she's usually the one interviewing parents when the stories like the one today comes up. Some will probably say today was boring but I found it to be kind of nice that I didn't want to slap any of them upside the head for any idiotic statements or behavior. I hope things don't get to where they all get put on an extremely short leash after what's happened though because I agree that would get boring quick.

Well yes....but did I miss understand Michelle when she said the POTUS needs to be born here, 35 years or - or have lived here 14 years? Please someone, what did I miss about the 14 years part?

I forgot about her saying that about the 14yr thing because I was in the kitchen when she said it and thought I may have heard wrong. She didn't elaborate further and I don't think anyone corrected her over it either.

Actually in this case Michelle got something right. Somebody must have discovered google.

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.  Section 2 of the Constitution

Did anyone else notice that Pamela only seemed to find any affinity with Raven?  She kept looking at Raven for affirmation and looking away from Michelle especially.  She looked like she wanted to slap a bitch at Michelle.  I also found it odd that Michelle was lead on that interview - and a mistake.

Christie needs to get his ass home and take care of his constituents.

Guuuuuuuuuuys! What is wrong with me????!!!!

I actually enjoyed today's episode! Well, I fast forwarded the Pamela interview, because, so not interested.

But I did enjoy the hot topics segment.  And I'm going to just assume that it was Whoopi, who was so impassioned about the abortion issue, that she misspoke when she said that Planned Parenthood was "now defunded", which it has not. Yes the House passed the stupid bill to get it defunded, but it has now gone to the Senate. And why Paula or Joy didn't correct her, I don't know.

But Michelle can just shut it. Nothing exciting happened at the Emmys? I would say that ViolaFucking!Davis, being the first Black Woman to win an Emmy for LEADING ACTRESS in a Drama series is a Big.Fucking.Deal! But I really am surprised that Raven at least, didn't bring up the fact of Nancy Lee Grahn's racist tweets. Like Grahn would know for a fact whether Viola has never been discriminated against. Or that she called Viola a "rich" actress. Ugh. I'll stop now before my head explodes.

Why must Paula feel she has to...defend Republicans who are, well being repugnant and liars? It was news to me that Fiorina being fired for running Lucent and HP to the ground wasn't her fault. Yeah riiiiiiiight.

And I also enjoyed the piece by Whoopi on medicinal marijuana.

Really - the day Fiorina left the building HP's stock rose 7% on that news.

The one time I really agree with Whoopie is when she's pushing for medical marijuana. Whoopie has said many times that it helps the pain in her eyes (not sure of her problem - maybe glaucoma?). I get totally infuriated when I watch those segments where kids are having several seizures a day but can't legally use marijuana even when it's been proven to help.

I actually enjoyed the talk about Planned Parenthood for the most part, especially Joy mocking the nonsense about The Video That Must Not Be Named.

When they came back for the second round of topics, Paula was the first to speak and I hadn't even noticed she’d been there in the first segment. I’m glad Stacy London was only used for awards dresses, and nothing else.

I wouldn’t have known that was Pamela Anderson; she looked fried to a crisp. And Whoopi actually took some of her precious time to narrate a video!

I love Dr. Ruth and the way she can make just about anyone blush and want to hide under a table. It cracks me up more times then not. She was on Letterman a few years ago and she made him turn almost beet red because of how blunt she was being about sex and etc...

Dr. Ruth is still amongst us?!

I am THRILLED that Joy is back. I don't care if she resorts to her archaic, worn out shtick. Just having her there is enough. I had no intention - none - of tuning in this season until she changed her mind about returning.

And Paula Faris is right-wingish/christian enough to represent the other view. I hope that TPTB have just decided to quietly forget they ever signed CandaceCB and say no more about her.

Oh crap!!  Lee promised The Whoopster a cameo on Empire.  CRAP!!!

Hopefully it'll be after the show's lost popularity, like when she cameoed on Glee two seasons after people lost interest. I thought Michelle was mocking her in a way by asking for a role on Empire. That was hilarious to me.

Sue me, I kind of like the show right now, even if Whoopi still gets on my nerves every now and again, like her making sure she danced longer than everyone else at the beginning. Kim Davis came across absolutely crazy in the clips they showed of her. I did like that Paula called her on the "just a piece of paper" BS. If that's all it was, she wouldn't care. And if her religious beliefs mattered that much, she would've quit working for a government that supports marriage between individuals of the same sex already.

Not only is she cherry picking the duties of her position. She's also cherry picking parts of her bible. There's a lot more she should and shouldn't be doing if that's her excuse. Incredible this can go on

Besides why doesn't she just sign them and and then ask for forgiveness on her way home? Isn't that how that works?

I have railed against Whoop-Whoop (ugh) on this forum like hell but she is a little better for now. Someone must have really told her what for because she is being engaged, saying a few things that don't make me want to throw things at the tv and less bitchy. Maybe Joy has lifted her a bit because she can't slack off on topics as much. Whoopi's ego is huge, so let's see how long this can last. I don't know Paula at all but so far I like her kind way of asking a tough question or stating her opinion. Michelle is annoying and Raven is somehow annoying but ok at the same time. Better than last year's crap but that's a super low bar. :)

I wasn't going to watch the Kim Davis interview but am glad I did. When she called the marriage license just a piece of paper, I was stunned. If that's all it is to you, why not just hand them out. Although, with four of them in her scrapbook, maybe that's all they are to her.

But of course she has gay friends, yeah right!

Sue me, I kind of like the show right now, even if Whoopi still gets on my nerves every now and again.

I think Whoopi needs someone to provide checks and balances. She is apparently a plain ol' schoolyard bully when she doesn't have anyone she feels is strong enough to take her on. Thank God for Joy, who is an equally strong personality and pushes back. I think Whoopi is savvy enough to know that pushing up against Joy is gonna be a no-win situation, since Joy makes people explain their reasoning.  Whoopi has been the loudest at the table for the past two years, making sure no one contradicts her, even waving her finger and even threatening the audience they better not contradict her either.  Nightmare!

Doing that around someone who's pleasantly asking you to explain yourself is gonna look bad. Whoopi is smart enough to know this.

Plus, her wildly publicized pro-Cosby views -- as well as the way she presented them -- got so much negative feedback that I'm sure she was told to back off, not just on Cosby, but on everything.

So, like you, I'm enjoying the show again. Not enough not to snark or roll my eyes, but it's watchable for the first time in quite a while.

Now, the snark:  Why, FFS, WHY does Whoopi have to say things like, "I think I just wet myself" when going to break? Disgusting, infantile, and unnecessary.

I actually liked the show today.

Michelle made me LOL at the idea of Obama circling the airport looking for the Pope. I found that image terribly amusing and it is still making me giggle.  She and Joy both seem to be interjecting fewer bad jokes just to be talking, which is so refreshing.  I laughed at things Joy said once or twice, too.  Trying less hard to be funny is working for both of them.

I'm glad someone is pointing out the self-obsession of "millennials."  That can't be done often enough in my opinion. Whoopi talking about Catholicism worried me at first, but she actually seemed to know her stuff and she came across as less lecture-y than she usually does.  There were actually some decent conversations today, not as much cross-talk, and less Raven making faces and acting like she knows everything.  I sometimes find it hard to believe she is 30 years old or whatever.  She acts more like she is about 20.  But even she didn't bug me today as much as she usually does.

I admit I skipped through the Dr. Ruth interview because ... I just don't care.

I think if they can keep it up, they are onto something.  But I dread the arrival of Candice Creme-Brulee.  I just know she is going to upset the apple cart somehow.  Paula is doing a good job being the conservative voice and I don't think she needs help.  I wish they could find a graceful way to drop Candice from the lineup.

whydoiwatchtv on Whoopi

but she is a little better for now

Maybe a little better but still not moderator material. She's not able to keep up with stage directions, struggles with the teleprompter and she throws in those pee my pants and vibrator references way too much.  And I don't think she knows how to conduct a decent interview. Somehow it always turns to all about her instead of the guest.

Today Whoopi said Obama was going to meet the Pope at the airport and escort him to his DC residence. Obama was always going to meet the Pope and escort him to his motorcade. I've heard that for days and it is exactly what happened just a few minutes ago.
