Huh?  Who in the what now?  (I missed the episode, and the archive is not yet updated.)  Are you telling me a category about female characters in Aaron Spelling shows did not contain a clue about a single one of the women of Charlie's Angels?  Aren't they the most famous of his female characters?  I am rather irrationally annoyed by this.

Ah, okay.  Although I'd think Charlie's Angels would be the lowest-valued clue in that category.

I'd be impressed if they had a $2000 clue about HeartBeat - I liked that show, because of the cast, and for having a lesbian as one of the main characters, but it didn't catch on.

Watching three people stand around and stare at Alex is not very scintillating  television.  I only started watching with about half the clues left in DJ, was the entire show like that?

FJ was a series of words on the screen.  I had less than zero idea of the answer.

Well, thanks to a tornado warning ~6 hours away, I missed half of DJ, which kind of ruined the game for me. I had no idea for FJ, though.

I like Sally fine (except for her boneheaded "Satanic Verses" guess for FJ), but I really liked Joe and was rooting for him.  Since I missed the last two games, this was my first exposure to Liz.  I won't miss her.

TS I got were chimpanzees, dogs (I loved Big Red!) and Thames.  I also got FJ.

Same here! Plus, the sound of the warning really annoyed the cats.

Instaget FJ.  I wonder why the middle guy said Dubliners instead of Ulysses - maybe he remembered the author but not the name of the book.

The only TS (out of what seemed like dozens) I got was Atlantic.

I screamed out FJ at the last second.  I was actually pounding the side of my head yelling at myself, "You know this!"

I thought there weren't that many TS's. I got lithosphere and stonewalling as well as Thames.

FJ was an instaget for me. I was surprised when AT remarked that it was a tough question. No, I haven't read the Joyce book, but I knew it was based on Homer's Odyssey.

Dolphinarium made me laugh really hard -- I watch J! with my mother, and we often make up joke answers that sound exactly like this! "This science of books..." "What is bookology!" "These deep-sea specialists..."  "What are underwaterologists!!!"

Stonewalling really surprised me as a TS.

Dogs kind of did; if nothing else, Big Red just sounds like a dog, and all the other clues had already been answered without dog being among them, so I would have expected someone to at least guess that.

I was cleaning the living room and facing away from the TV during the fonts category, so I didn't realize until I turned around for the last one that the clues were written in the fonts being asked about -- I got an impressive number of them just listening to the clues!

I guessed at Thames. I came up with "Stonewall" at the very last second, but even that wouldn't have been correct because it was 12-ltr words. I did the same thing with an earlier 12-ltr word, which I can't remember now.

I had a few guesses that turned out to be right. These were cases where you could figure out the answer by deciphering the clue. One exception was when I instantly yelled out "Jim Morrison!" when "door" was in the clue.

I knew I had read Big Red as a child, but I was remembering it as a horse, which I knew it couldn't be since 'horse' was already an answer. 

In FJ it took me a few seconds to come to Ulysses, which was another where you could come up with a good educated guess from the clue. I haven't read Ulysses and don't know any of the chapter headings. I was surprised none of the contestants figured it out. The Satanic Verses? That's pretty bad.

Ha ha, when I was a kid I had a stuffed toy lobster named Big Red!  Somehow, I don't think there are 2 books with lobsters as main characters!

I loved the Fonts category! Didn't understand why the one was a Video DD though; it looked like the usual blue screen to me.

"Dolphinarium"?? These judges kill me sometimes.

i cheered when Sally won because I was not looking forward to another day of that dude. But kudos to him getting the author correct in FJ. I had no clue. One of the phrases sounded familiar but Ulysses has been gathering dust on my bookshelves since college.

I got FJ right away.  For some reason, I always remember The Lotus Eaters are being one of the chapters in Ulysses.  I can't believe none of them got it.

I  really liked the Fonts category, too.  Something a little different.  Also liked  the Earth Sciences category.  Dolphinarium (who knew there was such a word?) and the Just Missed the Titantic category taught me things I didn't know.  And that's good when Jeopardy does that.

I was completely obsessed with the movie Thomasina when I was a kid (back in the Dark Ages when we had to beg any sympathetic relative to take us to "the show" instead of buying Disney movies to watch infinite times at home), so yesterday when I learned it was based on a book by Paul Gallico, it made me very happy. Hello, Chicago Public Library?

I majored in English and read it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of my classmates did the Cliff's Notes version instead.

I got FJ right away, but I wasn't that surprised that none of them got it, considering how many TS's there were during the game. I didn't have a problem with Liz, but I do like the new champ. I'd have been fine with any of them winning.

I read Moby Dick twice. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot the first time, probably because I had a fantastic professor that time.

Me too. My older brother was forced into taking me to it - he had to miss A Hard Day's Night - so he was not a happy camper. But I was.

I got Ulysses for no good reason - I thought Joyce and almost said Dubliners. I was a lit major, but somehow it never came up in my lit classes. Or maybe I actively avoided it, it was long ago. But I did try to read it a couple of times. I don't think I ever made it past the first chapter.

At first I was surprised that two of them missed FJ, because it seemed so obvious to me. Then I realized that I just watched season 1 of Aquarius (a cop show in which they're investigating Charles Manson) two weeks ago, so of course it was easy for me!

My TS's were chump and Faye Dunaway along with the missed DD of Monaco.

FJ was a total blank for me.  I am familiar with a great many Beatles's songs but Helter Skelter isn't one of them.  Also, I was trying to think of the name of the spiral slide and ignored the book clue, which would certainly have been a better way to go.

Alex once again said yesterday's FJ was hard. No. It was easy. Odysseus rules and everyone should know he did rule Ithaca because he was that damn cool a hero. Just don't get on a boat with him.

They had some pretty bad TS (Mecca? Really?!)

The medical abbreviation HR or HRT - the HRT part really threw me, because I hear that and immediately think "hormone replacement therapy" - I've never once heard it used for heart rate, always hormone replacement therapy. There was no need to put the HRT bit of the clue in there - it just made it needlessly confusing, imo.

I did actually know that bit of information about Helter Skelter but was unable to pull it from the recesses of my brain in time.

I didn't notice any accent of Laurie's.

Yeah, its about a slide!  Not a race war.  Manson was wayyy off on that one.

Heh, my Dad was surprised I knew the answer.  My response was didn't you guys have any idea was I was reading in high school?  I still remember back in high school I was sitting and reading Helter Skelter and my cat walked up behind me and scared the hell out of me.  If you guys haven't read it, it really is a great book.

I stopped rooting for the dude on the Malta answer - he had been doing reasonably well up till then.  I wasn't a Sally fan - I was a little put off on her Ken Jennings fangirl routine on the first night.  I missed the accent issue with Laurie but will listen tonight.  FJ was an instaget for me - I was almost 10 when the Manson murders happened and was fairly freaked out by them, then I became kind of "true crime" obsessed for awhile.  I agree with M. Darcy - Helter Skelter is a great book but don't let anyone sneak up behind you while reading it.

I didn't get it.  It was one of those "I'll be mad at myself when I hear the answer but it ain't floating around in my brain" things.  Probably didn't help that I can't swear I've ever actually heard the song.

I did the same thing they did, focused too much on the 'Yemeni' part of the clue and tried to come up with a city there.  And I wouldn't have known Gore Vidal if you hit me over the head with him.  I was, however, shouting "FIRST CENTURY, YOU IDIOTS!" at the tv screen; I ran that category and found all the clues ridiculously easy.

Me too, at all of this.  Adding that I'm lightweight furious at Ben for losing because, Laurie.  She's sweet, flourishy screen signature and all but, that turning everything into a question lilt of hers is a no.  I thought accents were region-specific so that's not what I'd call it but it looks like it's gonna be closed captioning to get through her reign.

I just looked up Helter Skelter at Wikipedia. McCartney wrote the song. He said he was "using the symbol of a helter skelter as a ride from the top to the bottom; the rise and fall of the Roman Empire – and this was the fall, the demise." So it's not simply a song about an amusement part ride.
