There was a very awkward segment at the very end of the show where Whoopie announced the unexpected death of Kalief Browder and then threw it to Rosie to whoop it up over a boxer, or something. It was very odd. Whoopie is solemn, announces The death and says Rosie has something to say. Camera focuses on Rosie who is all "WOO HOO!!!' PARTY!!!"

About Lindsey Graham courting Caitlyn Jenner for her vote after she came out as a Republican - of course, he'd welcome her into the party. "She's old, she's white, she doesn't have a uterus." (tm John Fugelsang) That's the GOP demo despite what Nicolle says disparaging "identity/one issue politics." Not a lot of breadth and depth there.

Hmm, this show ended almost 8 hrs. Ago and there's only 5 comments. Two of them mine cause I have a big mouth. That can't be good.

The show just seems to be so dull that I can't remember most of it. I was working and half listening but it was just drivel. The end of the show did make me a little uncomfortable with going from the sad to the WooHoo stuff.

That's it, that's all I got!

This is all I've got on today's show.....other than the very odd sign off.

I am sick of Nicole and her Bush love. What I remember most of Barbara Bush were her comments after visiting the Houston Astrodome following Katrina when thousands were sheltered there -

They "were underprivileged anyway, so this is working out very well for them."

Source is Snopes.com which quotes and states this is true.

Mrs Bush...these people went through hell, may have lost loved ones and friends, their homes, and jobs, pets, belongings, and relocated to other states. Her utter lack of compassion stunned me then....and still to this day.

Really unexceptional guests.  I see Elizabeth Vargas is co-hosting/probably auditioning.  Maybe they are trying to bring someone with news experience and gravitas to the table next season.  Really, the show would go up five levels if Whoopi would stop talking about her sandy vagina, floppy boobs, and farts. I simply can't believe that this is how the moderator of a major network show talks, on a regular basis.

Wasn't there an awkward moment with Elizabeth Vargas when she came on the show not too long ago to tout her book, someone (BaWa?) saying something awful about her sobriety?

I wanted to write something about what Nicolle said about Caitlyn Jenner and the Republican party including her, but I can't formulate my thoughts too well. I don't see how a LGBT member could vote for a Republican, but then I remember that Bruce Jenner in his interview with Diane Sawyer said that he was a Republican because he believed in the Constitution, so maybe he's not too savvy about political issues. Maybe he just wants to keep a bunch of AK47's and that's his tie to the Republican party. ( Sorry to offend any Republicans who read this! )

Like Dissy,I wasn't paying much attention to the rest of this show. I did notice that Taye Diggs always thinks highly of himself wherever he is interviewed.

BW was condescending to Vargas not longer after her rehab.  I remember how horrible it must have felt to come on the show at all only to get hoodwinked by the sanctimonious Walters.  BITCH!

I thought I remembered that Madam Bush said that quote after Katrina.  Thank you, maggiemae - when no one interjected that yesterday I wondered if I had it confused with someone else.  They just let Nichole keep on GOPing whatever she wants to say, don't they?

Elizabeth was deeply hurt when BW said "we all knew"  You could see her visably deflate on screen - very embarassing for her and shameful for BW to have attacked  her that way!  I'd like to have Elizabeth or Ann Curry on the show - someone with a real news back ground. Or Al Roker's wife whose name slips my memory - she's a real voice of reason.

I remember this so clearly.  Perfect description: "you could see her deflate on screen."  I felt so bad for Elizabeth Vargas.  What a completely despicable thing to do to a guest/colleague/addict.   Vargas seems like a dignified woman who is sharing something so difficult, and probably embarrassing, only to met with that sucker-punch.  As I've posted on another topic, the complete lack of compassion going on makes me shudder.  And, seriously, Barbara Bush is a filthy scab for that Katrina statement.

I think the reason no one is commenting on the show is because we've said it all before & we're sick of saying it over & over.  Know-it-all, big mouth, supercilious women venting their ignorant spleens.  Just sayin'.  (P.S. -- Raven says she reads stuff on-line about the show!!  I HOPE she reads this!!!)

ETA:  I started hating Barbara Bush when she said that about the poor people left stranded in Katrina.  What a bitch!!

Al Roker's wife is Deborah Roberts and per the top of this page, she is co-hosting on Friday.

I don't watch every day anymore.  But whenever I tune in, it seems that Whoopi has a black shirt on.  I guess I'm missing the white-shirt days.  What kind of shoes is she wearing lately?  Are those white Birkenstocks (with black leggings)?

How did Whoopi make the jump from TSA failure rate to food stamps?  I think I must have dozed off.

I enjoy Brooke.

I had the closed caption on and at one point the caption just said:  "everyone speaking at the same time"

I know it's been said many times before, but it can't be said enough--Whoopi.  I just don't like to be yelled at and preached to from my tv.

That comment made so little sense to me.  I actually re-wound to watch it again and I was still confused.

Whoopi was complaining about the TSA failure rate, and she said something about how the government should stop cutting food stamps and ... then she said to give the TSA more money so they could be taught how to find bombs.  I thought maybe she said that the government should cut food stamps, like in order to give the TSA some of that money.  That didn't sound Whoopi-like to me so I rewound it and she said don't cut food stamps, and give the TSA more money.  I don't know what one has to do with the other.  I guess she was just saying the government should be spending money on important things?  Except that's not what she said.  I don't know what the hell she was talking about.  She wants the TSA better trained to find bombs, that was all I understood.

It occurred to me that the TSA needs to look no further than this show to find a bomb.  Although with a 97% failure rate, I am not sure they would be successful.  How depressing.

This season COMPLETELY turned me off to watching anything more than "hey let's tune in to see the daily train wreck and end up HATING THESE WOMEN and that's not a good mood." As others have said (and said and said) this show sucks ass and panders to the lowest common denominator. Whoopi is just ... NO. Shut up, please, Whoopi!!! Seven years of her?? Good God. I love watching a show to snark on, but this is over-snarked. The snark has jumped the shark. PLUS, my Mom is slowly dying and I have been interrupting my life to help care for her and I have NO TIME FOR THIS STUFF.

(But if I have a minute I'll check in to see the hot mess!! 'Cause YOU GUYS are The Best)

Which is why I still miss Joy, Rosie, Sherri, and Bitsy..Even Whoopi in there for good measure. At least it would give people something to talk about. At least it is active when the usual suspects are on. Bring back the drama.

Oh my, I'm not sure I can take it much longer. The conversation about Carly Fiorina and getting feedback about issues from voters like American Idol does was so ridiculous, I wanted to throw something at the TV. Nicolle, no surprise, thinks it's a brilliant idea, and the ensuing conversation made no sense whatsoever.

Again, Whoopie, rages about the surcharge on airplane tickets, but that's ok, because she can take her bus. What a fool. The rages are so out of control.

Nicolle is simply another Elisabeth.  She will blindly defend all these Republicans.  Especially as we get closer to the 2016 Presidential election.  Without a counterpoint to her never ending cheerleading for her party I feel sorry for the viewers who will still watch.  At least when Elisabeth was there Joy balanced out her GOP rhetoric.

Good for Whoopi for calling out Franklin Graham's homophobia. (He pulled out his [his ministry's?] accounts from Wells Fargo because of that adorable commercial with the two mommies). Nicole, defending his "religious liberty," did not explain how a commercial encroaches on his religious liberty. Of course he had the right to do it, but Whoopi's point was, what kind of Christian is against the concept of older children finding a "forever home." Rosie P, as a former foster child, of course agreed.

I don't see Raven saving the show but according to Kevin Fallon in the Daily Beast, she's the one who could do it:   http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/10/why-crazy-ass-raven-symone-will-save-the-view.html?source=TDB&via=FB_Page

CousinAmy, thanks for posting the link. Interesting insight into Raven. I especially agree with this:

"O’Donnell—maybe the best View co-host there ever was"

Take that, Whoopi.

Personally, I'd give that honor to Meredith.

With this Raven hire, it seems like The View really doesn't want me to watch anymore.  She does add more ignorance and says stupid, sometimes nonsensical crap.  I'd be happy never seeing or hearing her again.

Oh well.  Had hoped this hire wasn't going to happen because I like Rosie P and Nichole intrigues me.  She is different than people I know.

Darn the shortness with Sam.  Another reason to quite watching.  Seems most all the people I'm interested in get short shrift.

I don't care for Whoopi on any level, and certainly not Nicolle for her politics (including blind love for everything Bush despite her going against some GOP values) nor Rosie and her long winded info about anything, and now Raven. Not like I'm surprised....just a little disappointed.....and happy I can make something else happen during the 10am hour.

This panel is not even snark-worthy for me nor their ice cold topics and guests. I see the same guests on other shows and get something more from those interviews.

But it's ok....I hung in during Sherri and Jenny and the YEAR OF BW and endless guest co-hosts for years as well and all the disappointments like when Meredith, and RO (twice) and Joy left. Knowledgeable women that were informed. They may have been older women but they were able to find Lisa Ling years ago and have never been able to replace the young woman on the panel with someone like her. It's probably ok as well entering the presidential election soon not to listen to this panel, imo.

But then I am still not over Elisabeth asking President Obama "where are the jobs?" when she had her clothing line on QVC that were made in CHINA!!!! Or when she took a call from Hannity before the show one day before the show......and refused to take a call from Chelsea Clinton before the show.

I'm sure I'll post now and then and watch clips and read here.....but this is not going to be a regular show for me anymore.

I understand what you are saying, maggiemae. I have the show on while I work at home, but at some point I'll have to quit watching, because my blood pressure rises and I get mad, and although I like coming to this board to commiserate, I feel as though I have an unhealthy hate watch going on.  I agree completely with what you wrote.  I don't feel that there is anyone on the panel who is really competent, professional, or interesting. To add Raven because she is a "self-assured lunatic" just shows how desperate they have become in trying to save the show.

I'm not sure why The Daily Beast thinks The View's experiment of "serious" discussions failed when ratings were above The Talk and The View’s last season, and only just started falling again after Rosie O left. What didn't work was Whoopi's ego. I did laugh at the way they described Rosie P--"the quivering Bambi." LOL Poor thing.

I think Raven will cause sparks. I just don't believe that'll be enough to keep the show from continued drops in the ratings. The View's used sparks so often in the past that I don't think it gets people's attention anymore. The worst part about Raven being hired is it helps Nicolle's GOP spin, which already has no counterpoint, by giving her a young idiot to mock.

As I was writing this, I heard Whoopi making her boob jokes on Jimmy Fallon in the background…

A few weeks ago I posted that i hoped that Symone was not ever going to be considered for a cohost job and ... voila! I should have known that if I was really uncomfortable watching her on the panel that of course... she would end up as a cohost. I haven't posted here for a while because the show had actually reached the point of total discomfort watching it.

I rarely dis performers on what they are wearing for the most part. Especially women. HOWEVER... what the HELL was that shredded creation that Symone was wearing today? And her hair is seriously starting to creep me out.

This may be my last posting when it comes to The View. I can't see myself watching it anymore and with the political season coming up, I don't think one of these women will have any political opinions that are well thought out and thought provoking.

I now have to finally admit that I think the show's days are truly numbered.

Eaven already knows the catch phrase

"I can express it. You can express it and we can disagree but we can move on and hug later. I love that."

The article is quite confusing (updated an article written before the announcement) Was Raven a Cheetah Girl? lol

If you missed the announcement Wednesday morning, Whoopi Goldberg finally confirmed Raven-Symoné will be the next co-host of The View.
While many viewers of ABC's daytime talk show were predicting the news for quite some time, the former Cheetah Girls singer admitted the official announcement came as a surprise.

If the View thinks Raven Symone  is the answer they are wrong.  That Daily Beast article insists the audience likes a circus.  Bullshit.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the View's ratings were at their best when they had a panel that actually consisted of women who where smart and able to get their point across without being crazy just for the sake of being crazy.  I will admit that I watched when Elisabeth was a cohost.  I kept hoping one day she would get put her in place.  Which of course never happened.  With Sherri and Jenny I just turned the show off.  And now with the addition of Raven it's a safe bet I will not be turning it back on.

And on a side note.  They can keep hiring and firing co-hosts all they want but as long as Whoopi remains things will never improve.  ABC WAKE UP!!!!!  The one you insist on keeping is the problem.  The woman has tried to make a distinction between "rape" and "rape rape".  Defended dog fighting.  Excused various celebrity wrongdoings simply because they are celebrities.  Can't be bothered to learn to correctly pronounce people's names.  And worst of all chased off the one capable co-host you did hire.  Most viewers don't give a shit she is a movie star or EGOT winner.  All they care about is she a horrible moderator and an endless whiner about taxes.  So if you want to improve the view you might want to think about that.

I think the thing I dislike the most about The View is that they disseminate misinformation so they can act all enraged.  Yesterday, Whoopi said that carry-on luggage size will be reduced by 40% & then proceeded to be all outragey.  Actually, it's 21%, so there's that ....

One thing I know for sure is that we're not going to hear any accurate statistics, information or a fair representation of any current events because THEY DON'T CARE!!!  (And that applies to EVERYONE associated with The View!!!)

Speaking of misinformation, Nicholle told us the other day that she is Republican because Republicans keep us safe. It is not that she is against gay marriage or any of the other social issues-it is because Republicans keep us safe. Despite the fact that Bush was president on September, 11 2001, a vote for a Republican equals safety. Some people will hear that and repeat it as fact. There was no one to counter that nonsense on the panel. I can't make it through a whole show. I fear that my hate watching of this show is helping to keep it on the air.

Yes, GiveMeSpace, Republicans keep us safe by wanting more wars and promoting more anti-American sentiment. It's too bad Joy wasn't there to counter Nicolle. As others have stated, it's only going to get worse as the elections draw nearer and Nicolle is free to spout her Republican talking points. Republicans try to latch on to some issue and repeat it over and over, like how they can keep us safe from ISIS. I remember in 2004, the Republicans were on an anti-gay agenda during the election. Now it's not too popular for them to be as anti-gay, but now they can be anti gay marriage, against abortions, and pretend that ISIS will be knocking at our doors to take over soon. What positive issues do they ever bring up, like improving our infrastructure or our educational system? (Sorry for the rant!)

If folks adhered to the current rules- there would be no reason to change the size of a carry on!

THe SNL skit with Kenan Thompson clearly demonstrated the issue
