But he was kind of imposing himself where the other guy was bothering some woman?  Maybe alcohol bravado.

Interesting that the article referred to him only as a reality TV star, not the former state treasurer.  Isn't it a local SC TV station?

He's the scion of a well-established SC dynasty for heavens sake!  His last name is the same as the bridge!

Yes, it's the Charleston NBC affiliate.  I've read articles from several of the local television stations and not one of them refer to him as anything but a reality TV star.  I agree with you, that is very strange.

The media is expert at marginalizing those whom they do not wish to support.  It's all about what you do not cover or do not acknowledge.  This is a perfect example.

TRav is a complete tool, but he was the Treasurer, which is flat out the most significant piece of his biography to the fair denizens of the Palmetto State.  Also, it's not as if they did not have the time or space to say/write, "former state treasurer."

I imagine a fair number of people only learned he was state treasurer when he forced to resign and his going to prison, despite his family name.

Charleston City Paper also calls TRav a reality star, not former state treasurer.

And that second link shows camera crews filming Kathryn and Shep.

Um what else could it be?

So if they're filming now, presumably the next season is all before the birth.  And they can film the aftermath of TRav's altercation.

TRav wanted to teach the guy a lesson with his face to the crown of the guy's head!  Well more like a night in jail.

This is a unique one:  There was a recent charity event where locals paid a fee to be photographed as a mermaid.  Landon was one of the participants.  There's a photo at the link of Shep and Craig moving one of the "mermaids" on Folly Beach.  No indication if any of this was filmed for the show.

A bit more info on the cast's activities in Asheville can be found here:

I thought this comment was of interest.  To my knowledge we haven't had anyone mention when they expected S3 to air, right?

She said the cast played giant Jenga. The crew told her the show will air in summer.

Not directly related to the show but there has been some push to change the names of buildings on campuses because the figures after whom some of these buildings were named have historically dubious reputations.

For instance, Princeton is looking to change the name of several buildings named after Woodrow Wilson because Wilson supported and implemented some racist civil service policies while he was president.

Another one is John Calhoun, who was an ardent racist, but is apparently a Yale alum.  In the light of shootings in South Carolina and the subsequent push to remove the Confederate flag from the SC statehouse, some at Yale question whether the university should have anything named after Calhoun:

http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-yale-calhoun-college-0830-story.html

It seems the Calhoun name isn't even that revered in South Carolina either.

Without taking a political position as to Calhoun, the irony is incredibly deep at USC.

He is most famous for his intense defense of the concept of "nullification."  States retained the right to secede - especially if there be some constitutional grievance of a federal overreach under this theory.  What is USC thinking of doing?  Nullifying their connection with Calhoun!

On a personal note...One of the most pleasurable afternoons I have ever spent was at a library in the famous USC Horsehoe campus area.  I read some of Calhoun's speeches and snippets of his writings.   Whatever one may think of his beliefs, he was a master at communicating such.

Guys, do yourselves a favor and look this mob up on Twitter and Instagram. I don't follow most of them and don't have Instagram, but can still see what havoc they're creating in Charleston and across the globe. Patricia is in India, researching fabrics for a line of caftans (no joke); Craig is/was in Thailand with his very pretty girlfriend, Naomi; Whitney is/was in Africa somewhere, making a documentary about Rhino poaching; and Shep is/was in Puerto Rico, with Colin Jost from SNL. This crew gets around, don't they?

Also, Landon, Patricia, Craig, Craig's girlfriend, Naomi, Cameran, Shep, and my personal favorite, Michael the Butler, were photographed for and are currently on the cover of Carolina Tails magazine, holding some of their pets and some that are up for adoption. Both Pat an Landon tweeted links to it.

No updates or promos on Bravo, is this coming back?

I know some have reported filming being done, but still nothing and no promos?

The entire cast has been hanging out together for various social events, tagging Bravo and mentioning Season 3 coyly on their various social media feeds, so I'm hoping that by late Spring we'll maybe start to see some promos and that S3 is slated to be part of the summer line-up. Plus, with Kathryn's recent new scion child/reunion with T-Rav, and Whitney's restaurant still in progress, those items should be the start of a storyline or two right there.

Fingers crossed---I really miss this show and found it so delightfully charming all around...

Just got a text from my friend in Charleston, the Palace Hotel caught fire. No idea of damages, etc.

I told her the hot dog grease probably did it.

ETA, latest text:

"Not sure yet. They are currently working on it. 5 people inside in upstairs apt. One in hospital."

I stopped all reality tv watching last year --- just fell out of it.  I keep waiting though on So Charm - hoping it'll be back soon.

Ah.  Saw a post on FB that said it was closed but didn't go into it.  Hope the resident is OK.

Remember Whitney's often delayed restaurant, Generalisimo?  Evidently not happening.
http://charleston.eater.com/2016/1/26/10827288/ink-and-ivy-charleston

With delay after delay on French-Mexican/Southern Charm restaurant Generalísimo, many began to wonder if the place would ever open. Today comes official word that restaurateur Bryan Kestner and his concept are out from Upper King, and Charlotte-based group Bottle Cap Group will bring "eclectic restaurant" Ink n Ivy to the Lowcountry.

Bottle Cap Group holds a number of restaurants across the Carolinas, including Snapper Jack's at Folly Beach. The Ink n Ivy planned for 565 King St. will be one of three planned to open this year, with other locations in Charlotte, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina.

I read this blind gossip and I can totally see this as Thomas.  Now I'm starting to think that Thomas' spurning of beverage cart girl wasn't a "class thing" as he'd indicated, but an "ethnic thing."  She was Italian with an Italian accent, right?  I can see Arthur Jr. not appreciating that very much.

#2 – This racist Bravo reality star who is the star of his little show is probably not going to tell his fellow Klan brethren about the black hookers he picks up in a city a couple hundred miles from his house. Thomas Ravenel "Southern Charm"

The Charleston City Paper (local weekly) has published its annual Best of Charleston rankings and Southern Charm is well represented; most notably by--Surprise!--Thomas and Kathryn.  So you don't have to go through all the lists, here are links to the categories connected to Southern Charm.

Thanks for linking, ProudMary! I saw it earlier but have no tech skills whatsoever so couldn't link. Charleston City Paper also had hilarious and spot on recaps of SC the first two seasons but I haven't heard if they're doing it again this season.

Futily hoping and praying Previously TV will recap the shit out of this season. Sigh.

It looks like Kathryn is on WWHL tonight. Blergh. The Southern Charm Facebook page also has a post where viewers can post questions that she "might just" answer during a live Facebook chat @ 3 pm EST.

She's live on Facebook now. Looks like she's applied self tanner with a paint brush.

WWHL gave a timeline.  They did the S2 reunion in May of last year and Kathryn delivered the baby in December.  Supposedly Kathryn and Thomas were not seeing each other at the time of the reunion.

Since she was still pregnant at the time S3E1 was filmed, they filmed S3 last fall, early winter.

S2 would have been filmed early 2015 or late 2014 perhaps.

Some good recaps of last night's episode from the Lowcountry media.

And, an additional article from Charleston City Paper, from a writer who's never seen the show before.  This one is hilarious!

An earlier Island Packet article (Monday) led me to this gem of a video of Kathryn and Thomas arguing on a New York City street, which ran in the Daily Mail on Monday.  Makes you wonder when K&T were in New York together.  Was he in NYC with her for her appearance on Watch What Happens Live Monday night?

Oh dear god this one really is hilarious! Thanks for sharing. The commentary on Shep's name killed me:

a man called Shep — which is a made-up name, right? No one is really named Shep. That’s the type of nickname you give an old circus performer who was kicked in the head by a donkey

Don't let the name fool you — Shep is not a cartoon dog

That video is such classic Kathryn vs T-Rav. Phrases I made out: Kathryn saying, "I'm not fighting with you on the street in New York City!" Uh, yes, Kathryn, literally you are. Also, Thomas saying what sounds like, "I waited 8 hours for you in the hotel." Hmmmm... And like all fights involving Kathryn and T-Rav she makes sure to remind him "I'm the mother of your children!" Listening again, she actually says, twice, "I'm the mother of your child." Could this have been recorded last spring, when they were in NYC for the reunion taping?

What is that sweater Thomas is wearing and why does he always seem half lit?

Re the fighting on the street video: If you click Full Article and scroll down, it says this:

Back together? This was the scene in New York last March the morning after Ravenel appeared on Watch What Happens Live to promote season two of Southern Charm - roughly nine months before the birth of the second Ravenel-Dennis child, baby boy St. Julien

This was how the 4-day, back-on, whirlwind romance when God impregnated Kathryn ended!

A couple of links that tie in well with S3, Ep. 2.

The first link is from January.  JD made an appearance on Lowcountry Live, a local public interest show.  The video provides a great description of exactly what his Gentry Hospitality Group--that Craig spent $15,000 plus his "sweat equity" to buy into--consists of and what services it provides.  Plus we discover that he and Elizabeth had Thomas and Kathryn at their place for Thanksgiving, supposedly drama-free.  Something we can put into the constantly evolving "they're together, they're not together" timeline.
http://abcnews4.com/lowcountry-live/gentry-hospitality-group-sermets

Secondly, you too can throw the exact dinner party given by Cameron.  This is the website for the Charleston Academy of Domestic Pursuits, headed by Dean (I kid you not.  That's how she's billed.) Suzanne Pollak.  Featured is a handbook, "Cliff Notes to Cameran's Southern Charm Dinner Party" available to purchase for $2.99.

Reading the SC Newbie's recap on the Charleston City Paper's website has become a highlight each Tuesday. http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/HolyCinema/archives/2016/04/19/confessions-of-a-southern-charm-newbie-ep-3

Funny stuff!

Also an amusing recap from The [Hilton Head] Island Packet which is always heavier on the Shep coverage as it's his hometown.
