I think jilly had her eye on Silas for courtship with one of the not nuries, she let the 4 older children travel to a kleghorn wedding on their own a while back.

They visited the Cleghorns not that long ago, IIRC on their way home from their Florida trip. With Nurie's gender reveal coming up this week, I don't think they'll make the trip to TN to attend the funeral.

When I compare the Bates and Duggars, I wonder if the Duggars wonder what happened. The Duggars were the 'sophisticated big-wigs' and the Bates were always in their shadows. Now most of the Bates kids are more 'successful'.

Zach is a cop - Josh a criminal. Michaela has a successful online store and is a nurse - Jana is a wannabe J Gaines. Alyssa, Carlin and Josie all have working (real jobs) husbands and are successful influencers - Jessa, Jinger and Joy don't and aren't.

And to add to my wonder, both families basically started out JRod style. I would guess by the definition of their kind of Fundyism, the Rods are actually the family that is the most successful - still plodding along, wearing proper clothes and spreading the word. lol

I think it' beacause the Bates parents are much smarter than Boob and MeShell.  They obviously gave their kids much better advice.   While both families are batshit in their beliefs, the Bates are much more "real world" smart.

Maybe it's reverse snobbery on my part, but I think there's something to be said for needing to work and that creating more productive human beings. The Duggars might have been successful, but they weren't the type of rich and successful that their connections would be enough to make their useless children successful (they started to have that with Josh at FRC, and...well, you know), though they were by far more financially successful than the Bates. When the Duggars were crowded into that tiny house, it was because they were living well below their means, not because JB lacked funds. He had a sizable real estate portfolio, the show, paid speaking gigs several times a year--he could afford to truly isolate his family (outside of the made-for-TV outings) and not have them out and about developing skills to earn money. That wasn't the case for the Bates at all. Gil had his trimming business, and while they eventually got their own show, they never got the level fame that the Duggars did. The kids had to contribute financially to the household and figure out how to make their own livings eventually. That led to more successful adults. It will be interesting to see if that's still the case for the younger kids.

I read that at first as "I volunteer as tribute," lol.  Which is actually pretty accurate if you're willing to go toe to toe with that nutjob.

The arrows were disgusting on a level that most of us thankfully never see on a regular basis.  It's like she's bragging about her importance because she knew the deceased young man and the pictures and arrows prove that he was a family friend.  Now, a normal person doesn't need to do any of this.  But Jill needs to slither her way into other people's tragedies in order to serve her own purposes, and that's just vile.  I know not all Fundie families are as morally decrepit as JillRod, so I have to imagine that either their sweet friends turn a blind eye to her repulsive shenanigans to keep from actually getting involved with that BSC woman, or maybe they are afraid of her for some reason, like she has a weird stranglehold on the people she encounters.  Either way, she is nuts on a scary level.
