Did Rosie know Nicole's reasons for hating the ad?  Do we?    Puppy mills didn't come to mind when I saw (and didn't appreciate) the ad--and it was difficult to tell if a puppy mill was being portrayed.  Or me it was sad that the puppy jumped out (fell out?) of the truck and then worked so long and hard to get back "home" only to be told buh-bye.  It was a sad commercial rather than funny...to me.  Too bad forr GoDaddy because I think they planned a big/long campaign on that puppy.  They even held a naming contest.  That's how he came to be named Buddy.

That was my take too Former Nun!  I can't possibly imagine what the writers at GoDaddy were thinking when they were putting that scenario together.  No one that has loved a pet would think that ending was funny, IMHO!!!

The new Budweiser commercial, OTOH, is really cute & a tear-jerker (for us animal lovers).  Just sayin'.

Whoopie was fine today. She looked pretty good and didn't seem to be having anymore loopy effects from her medicine. I chalk last week up to coming back too soon.

Or perhaps Whoopi got a stern talking to. Until confronted with overwhelming evidence otherwise, most likely she thought her schtick was funny. When somebody finally got through to her that she wasn't doing a good job and she was going to be let go if she didn't improve significantly, she straightened up and stepped up her game - as much as she could.  I expect her to revert to form after a few shows. She's just not the right person for this job.

It is kinda crap that after winning American Idol they want to break the contract. If you dont want follow the contract then dont sign it and dont go on the show. Why is it ok to change the rules when you dont like the agreement you made??

There has been some interesting talk about why this may be a good thing to do.  AI is the only show that has such a long contract, 7 years.  They get 40% of singers profit.    Other shows were named and most had no contracts or very short ones.  And AI manages what you do.  Everyone in the bizz, that I heard speak, thinks their contract needs reform and this is probably the only way to do that.

I didn't get puppy mill either.  It was sad to see that little guy fight to get home only to find he was not loved and was going to be shipped away again! Heartless.   I saw no point or message. It was mean spirited.

Maybe it is best I didn't see this discussion....when I saw the commercial on another show for the first time today, I burst into tears; there was nothing funny about that ad and those sick fucks should be ashamed of themselves.

I work with people who do animal rescue in another state and they were all mightily against this ad, not for any of the reasons stated, but because it showed a puppy crossing busy streets, running next to the road, etc., etc.  They are from a state that seems to have an incredible amount of animal cruelty, neglect, abandonment, etc., and they've seen dogs be killed because people think it's okay to to leave them by the side of the road, toss them from cars, etc.  So that's why they wanted this off the air, because of the implication that puppies would be just fine traveling through busy thoroughfares by themselves.

I liked Rosie saying that people who buy from breeders shouldn't object to a commercial showing how it works, but I wish she'd gone a step farther, and said that there are many breed-specific rescues that have perfectly fine and wonderful dogs for adoption, and that if you are a fan of XYZ breed, you don't have to go through a puppy mill or breeder.

Rosie missed the point.  Outrage is not about responsible purebred breeders who sometimes fly their animals to the new owner.  That is an entirely different scene and carefully controlled.  I have no idea why she went there.

I work for a dog rescue, a very big one, and we are careful to do home checks.  We neuter them, shots if necessary and are housed at a beautiful farm with lots of play time, attention and baths.  This ad did me in.  Vixenstud articulated it beautifully, sick fucks.

The fact that Nicole said nothing after Rosie brought up the puppy mill aspect to me answered Nicole's reason for hating the ad, she just didn't expect Rosie to call her out on it like that.  It reminded me of when Rosie would question Bitsy over her reasons for a comment and she would say nothing, until Bill Geddie started telling her what to say to counteract Rosie.

Nicole didn't have any idea what Rosie meant and neither did I.  She was stopped in her tracks with a whaaaaaaat? in her mind.

Had I not seen Access Hollywood Live this morning before The View, I wouldn't have known that the GoDaddy commercial may have been referencing puppy mills. But they talked about it extensively on that show, so I don't think it's just Rosie that thought that way.

Didn't appear to me that Rosie thought about puppy mills either.  She thought they were knocking buying a purebred instead of a rescue.

I've read and heard a lot about the puppy mill aspect of the commercial today so apparently a lot of people see it that way.  I just think it sucks on every level and I have no idea how anyone could have thought it was funny.

Mario's story about his mother thinking cooking and baking would make him gay was really sad.   He still seems so upset about it.

I thought Whoopi was almost as offensive today as always.  There's no excuse for mucking up or mispronouncing the name of a guest co host.  Michaela Watkins is not a difficult name but even if it were someone with a 15 letter all-consonants surname there's still no excuse for it.  I think she's paid enough to bother to learn the names prior to the show.  Also, she loses me once she starts yelling, which happened early on today, it wasn't out of anger but still I can't stand the yelling.

I don't think Rosie missed the point.  I think she called out Nicolle to make her point as to why she found the ad offensive, and Nicolle came off looking a little deer-in-the-headlights over it.  Good.  And Nicolle made a point of saying she was "with the other side" after Rosie spoke regarding the AI topic, saying that she would not have heard of him if not for AI.  I liked Michaela's counter point that no one gets rich being on SNL because it's a chance to get yourself out there, but Lorne Michaels doesn't own rights to you for five years after.

We all know Nicolle is not stupid, but since The View has not acknowledged a rivalry between Whoopi and Rosie, she'd probably do well to just form and discuss her own opinion on topics rather than appear to take sides by disagreeing with Rosie on everything she can just for the heck of it.  Because, and good for Rosie, she will be called out to explain her position.

Agree about Nicolle's hair.  It had been looking fantastic lately, and she went and had it cut/styled differently -  and got new highlights, too, it looks like.  too bad.  But I can relate.  I've had "perfect"  hair cuts and color, only to have my hair grow out and then the same style is never replicated.

Stacy London needs to take it down a notch. Mugging for the camera like an 8 year old is not attractive...just desperate.

I absolutely cannot stand her, and the way she constantly waves her hands around.  Between wildly gesturing and whipping her head back & forth, she is very distracting.  And IMO she contributes nothing.  Yes, you're right - desperate.

I've been a fan of this show for a long time, but she makes me want to change the channel.

I agree, this is all I could think of while watching. I didn't think about breeders until Rosie O had brought it up (but I liked that she did, it threw Nicolle for a loop).

Today was actually a good show for me. The co-host was passable, Rosie O spoke several times without a smackdown, and Whoopi only had one superbitch moment. Huzzah. I kept wondering if "Master Baker" was intentional, because with them saying it so fast it just made me think of something else. Especially when Mario was talking about how he would master bake in his room all the time... No, that had to be intentional.

Quite a contrast from Rosie moderating last week to this week with Whoopie.  I was glad that Rosie was not there for the American Sniper conversation.  I know that Rosie has a little bit of a different take on it as do I.  She has recommended a documentary on her page called The Kill Team.  It is very good and shows both sides.  The comments they make about the military are just rhetoric.  They don't really know anyone connected to the military.

Why is no one challenging Nicolle's statement that American Sniper is "perfection"?  I really need somebody to counter with:

Chris Kyle, the subject of American Sniper, claimed to punch out Jessie Ventura, knocking him out of an (invisible) wheel chair.  It's a total lie, Ventura sued, and was awarded 1.8 million in damages.

When asked how many people he killed, Kyle responded with - "I only wish I had killed more".

He claims he killed two men attempting to car jack him, and when the cops arrived, Kyle flashed his DOD card, and they let him go.

He claims that he went to New Orleans during Katrina, climbed up on the Superdome with his sniper rifle, and killed up to thirty so-called looters.

Chris Kyle was seriously mentally deranged and the movie is extremely damaging to low information people. It is also mostly fiction and a wet dream for NRA lovers. That Nicolle and her fellow right wingers think it is "perfection" is downright scary.

THANK YOU. I can't believe this has yet to be addressed in any of the mainstream Oscar coverage, either. To be fair, this only made front page news where I live in Minnesota because Ventura was our former governor. It is really, REALLY hard to win a libel lawsuit in America, and many thought Ventura was crazy for filing the case.

I have yet to see the movie or read the book, but I *do* think PTSD likely played a heavily role in Chris Kyle's mind and psyche, so I don't mean to attack him as a person. But I do think the Ventura lawsuit needs to be mentioned should they bring up the film again, which I'm sure they will, as we get closer to Oscar time.

Backtrack to Tuesday's show - I really, really enjoy Rosie and Barbara crafting segments - Barbara allows all the "pot shots" and Rosie is so in her element.  I feel it shows the warmth and respect that they have for each other.  The interview with the 94 yr old woman was enchanting, too.  Rosie seems to truly enjoy engaging people in her interviews.  Yes, I do love me some Rosie O, and enjoy seeing signs of the return of "the queen of nice," as she was known in TROS days.

I am totally picking up what you are laying down.  This crafting segment, in particular,  between Rosie & Barb had total shades of yesteryear all over it. It was so very reminiscent of her original talk show. The gentle ribbing Rosie gave Barb and the fact that she was able to get away it, showed the warmth & respect between the 2 of them just like you said.  Do you make your own toast?  Doesn't Ikadela make your toast for you?  LOL.  I think she even said something about Barb's wealth, though I can't recall what it was because I gasped and was too scared for her at the time.  Other women, most famously Bonnie Hunt, have been banished to the Dark Side of Hell for saying such things.

And as someone who absolutely loathes sitting through craft and/or cooking segments on tv shows; the only times I have ever truly enjoyed them are the times when Rosie is doing them.  If she is in the equation, I enjoy them.  Throw Martha Stewart into the mix and even better.

Im really glad you posted this backformore. Reading all the "outrage" has had me confused..... people getting all riled up. It is a commercial, not a documentary. Sometimes commercials are snarky, like this one. It was not meant to send a message or be a teachable moment....... it was meant to cause some stir to get the Go Daddy name out there.. they do it every year.... but in years past it was sexual snark.

Im all for rescue animals.... but the demonetization of a commercial doesnt seem warranted to me.

It is true than Ventura won his lawsuit.... but to be fair.... the lawsuit came after Chris Kyle died so he never had his day in court..... honestly, I believe the story Chris Kyle told..... but I never heard about the wheelchair.

The story I heard went like this.

They were holding a wake for a fallen Navy Seal and Jessie Ventura was in the bar. He said something along the lines of it was due for a Navy Seal to buy it since they have been so cocky. So Chris Kyle clocked him and knocked him down. He then left the scene because he was worried about the police.

I saw him tell the story on The Factor and it did ring true..... I thought the lawsuit after his death was pretty gross

I thought it was really funny when right after Whoopi said something rude, the guest host said... wouldnt it be cool if there was a vaccine against jerks?? Then when Whoopi interrupted their discussion about Frozen.... after Whoopi was done with her shtick... she continued her discussion

That is how a guest host should act.

This show... Impractical Jokers... is the funniest show on TV.... There has not been a time watching it where I didnt laugh out loud.... I crack up every time

It is sad that "American Sniper" is considered mostly true.   From what I hear* the movie would be just as effective were it not "based on fact."   There's no going back now.  Apparently Chris Kyle is a hero and nothing negative can be said--nor should it be believed.

I have to say, I enjoyed the Nicholle--free day, and it has nothing to do with her political views.  She talks too damn much, and it's great to not have to hear her.  The show could have gone better for me had Mario Cantone not been on.  Ugh.  I get that he's a comedian, but he's always so "on."

What?  You mean you don't share my love of trashy celebrity magazines?  My other favourite guilty pleasure besides this place and you fabulous people?  (It's my Mom's fault; she's my supplier.)  The 2 of them were seen about town in NYC together a few months back; the summer maybe?  Rumoured to be seeing each other according to the infamous "sources" and "close friends."   I haven't seen any pics of them in my most recent publications so I am assuming it is over.  Hence my snickering when she brought up her desire for a jerk vaccine.  hee.

Whoopie's hair situation is unfortunate.  She cannot just shave her head either; she has some pink scaring on the top of her head that was visible one day when she put her head down on the desk. And she may have many more.

ETA. After the commercial break, the stylist rearranged her dreads to cover up the very bald, right side of her head.

I can't believe they haven't had Amy Sedaris on for the craft segments. It seems like such a no brainer, her segments on talk shows always get a lot of viral vids and blog posts. When she was on Martha Stewart she'd constantly pretend to be killing cockroaches in Martha's kitchen.

Padma's idea about non-vaccinated kids wearing bracelets was appalling. I don't think she was really thinking about what she was saying though.

Rosie missed the point of why people found the puppy ad obnoxious.  The dog went through a lot to get home, only to find out he was being given away. How anyone who has ever loved an animal could not find that offensive is beyond me.

I think Nicole and Rosie P are not into fighthing with Rosie O.

Rosie O has good qualities, but she can be a very mean person too.   I would not want to fight her.   Her past behavior with the woman on the magazine, and also her bully behavior with Kelly Ripa, calling her out for being "Homophobic", when Kelly is anything but homophobic, and then getting mad because Kelly was allowed to defend herself on the air, shows me a side to Rosie I don't like.

Rosie has been a good moderator lately,  she is medicated and her life is happy.  She is very likable at times, and I think she was way better than Whoopi moderating. But, get  Rosie at a time in her life when things aren't going well,  or her meds are not working, and she can be just plain mean and bully people.

I hate Donald Trump, but she started that stupid fight and then was acting victimized.   She not only made fun of his hair, but made comments about him as a husband,  businessman and other personal attacks. I think he's a real jerk, but what did she expect when she calls someone out like that?

It's too bad Rosie had this side to her.  She's like the SNL skit with the "nice Rosie" on one side of the actors face, and "mean Rosie" on the other side.    As much as I really enjoy her most of the time, and loved her radio show, I see that she can flip out and be really nasty.  It's hard not to like Rosie when she is feeling ok, but I can't defend her behavior, and I thought her last stint on the was not good.

Because, MButterfly, they have arms and we don't!   I'm okay with it...most of those TV babes who are showing off their arms won't hold up forever.  Age will take it toll on many (not all).  And some of them will finally give up on all those hours of working out.  Let it goooooo, let it goooooo......
