VioletNevermind December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 This show is starting to stray too far into "Sister Wives" well-worn territory. Jealousy! A wife wants to lose weight! The husband isn't spending enough one-on-one time with one or more of the wives! Yawn. I hate to say it, but as dysfunctional as this family is, I don't think they're dysfunctional enough to merit a reality show. Besides, the Browns already have quite a secure lock on televised polygamous dysfunction. Who the hell does Brady think he is, insisting on a weekly night in his "man cave?" Talk about wanting to have your cake and eat it, too. I know men with one wife and only a couple of kids who would love a weekly night of total solitude, but don't dare act on it because they realize that they have responsibilities. Brady has over two dozen responsibilities. He is beyond arrogant and selfish. I can't stand his holier-than-thou demeanor. Absolom made a comment above about how the numbers for this show are dipping low enough that cancellation might be in sight. I'm not surprised. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-611355
Janet Snakehole December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 Yup, the man cave thing is making me insane. Look, I get the need for alone time, I am a huge introvert. But here is the thing, it is not like the wives will get alone time, they will be stuck with the kids and each other. I am aware that they made the choice to live this life, but so did he. If they have to deal with jealousy, having to basically be single moms most of the week, then he can suck it up and not have his stupid whole man cave night weekly. Why can't it be for a couple of hours if at all?Argh. And the fact that they were all talking about how wonderful Brady was the only man for them.....it all makes me want to bang my head against the wall. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-611411
PlanetSassy December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 I think Brady watches porn on his phone, in the man cave. VioletNevermind December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 I also neglected to go into detail about Rosemary's diet plan. How degrading, to have to do this on national television. I think the family decathlon is a cute idea, but I hate that they're connecting it so closely to Rosemary's weight loss efforts. This storyline really highlights how much privacy and basic human dignity people on reality shows willingly relinquish for the sake of money. Also, the wife who jokingly requested a "raise in her allowance" during the weekly meeting! Wow. I can't imagine what it feels like to be a fully grown "married" woman who has to ask her husband for an allowance. F*** that, seriously. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-611477

RedheadZombie December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 And Brady must have been a blond as a child, I can't tell who belongs to who mom-wise, but there are a lot of blond children. The AUB has a lot of in-breeding. Most of the Brown children are blonde too. I find it strange how much Robyn and Rhonda look alike. I know they're cousin's, but their children look exactly like their mothers and each other. I wonder how close Paulie's side is to Rhonda/Robyn, her son looks exactly like R & R's kids. Another similarity to Big Love. Bill wanted a night off, and the wives said hell no! Well, heck no. I feel more for Brady than Kody in this situation. Kody makes it very clear he's only sexing up Robyn. I think Brady's giving it up to all five wives, and that sounds exhausting to me. I understand why Brady looks so much more exhausted than Kody. First of all, he works. Second, he's having sex with five different women. Third, he spends a lot of time comforting and reassuring his wives. Kody, on the other hand, is constantly being comforted and told how hard he works. I've said this elsewhere, but I think polygamy only works when the husband is a benign authoritarian. Joe Darger is on one end of the extreme - too controlling and angry. Kody is the extreme opposite end - no leadership, disorganized. I think Brady falls in the middle, and he's the least objectionable of the three. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-611774

Brady to Rosemary: Get a trainer. The whole man cave thing drove me crazy. It should be a "solitary zone." He can go there once a week, but so can each wife and he has to take care of the kids. leighroda December 2, 2014 Share December 2, 2014 So much wrong! 1) I love Rosemary, I'm happy to see her truly making an effort and it was refreshing to see that for the most part she does eat relatively healthy. I felt bad for her when she was going to Brady for support and he was like"get a trainer" she was rational, it's not like she was demanding him be there every time...but he was like f-that. Ps trainers aren't cheap, I get they likely don't pay for him and its comped by tlc, but still, for people who just declared bankruptcy they sure have no reservations. 2) the man cave- I get the need for alone time, but you know the easiest way to get that... If you have fewer than 5 wives! I agree with what someone above said, that the wives should get some time alone individually too. I feel like maybe not once a week, I think maybe once a month if he really has to have the night alone. What a douche move to not even allow the older boys spend time with him. I think it'll last until the night he's on his own, but wants a little somethin' somethin'. Also, the wife whose night it was when he made this declaration then went over and hung out with him solo, and you could tell she was pissed when she had to take the kid to karate. What bugs me about that is she'll also get a make up night too, if they were really so careful about fairness, then she should have gone to hang out with him. How demoralizing. I usually don't care what goes on in someone else's bedroom, HOWEVER, they put their personal life out there on tv and I am curious about their sex life. Not the intimate details, just the basics. I mean with five wives that is about once a week per wife but every night for Brady for 20 years. If you know you can't have it whenever you want it, you probably don't want to skip on your night. Especially when you know that four others are available. I'm slinking away. Is this the companion that was "lost"/left? Or am I imagining things? You are not imagining things. Brady's father had three wives, but one left. One night when Brady and Rhonda called home, there was a shot of the other wife sitting at a table. I thought it odd that she wasn't introduced. Perhaps she is camera shy. I chuckled when Rosemary told the nutritionist/trainer that she never eats breakfast and that she only has a piece of fruit and crackers around 3 pm, only to have her son chime in that she eats ice cream, chips and salsa at night. How demoralizing. I am the type that needs the tv in the background to sleep, so I understand that aspect of it (although my partner hates it, so when the lights are out and we are rolling over to our own sides of the bed, I pop some headphones in). However, the fact that all of the wives feel like he is spending so much time on his different devices, is absurd. This woman gets to be intimate with you 5 times a MONTH, put the damn iPad down! I would bet that he spends a lot more time with his laptop on Rosie's night than he does on Paulie's night. ChicksDigScars December 2, 2014 Share December 2, 2014 (edited) I get the mancave argument from the wives point of view, but these five bitches are the whiniest, most demanding group imaginable. Well, except for Rosemary. I'd want a night away from Passive Aggressiva, Crazy Eyes, Cancer Scare and Blubbering Anniversary Ring, too. Sure, it's his fault for entering into this situation, and breeding 25 times, but they went into this willingly, as well. Judging from Nonie's end around when she talked him into getting knocked with another child they can't afford, just to raise her status in the family, the wives are too much. Plus, he works full time. Everyone deserves some peace and quiet, and judging from the way Rhonda and the two PITA little boys came in. begging for attention as soon as he went into the playhouse, none of them seem to GET IT. Yeah, let's play pranks on our already overextended, overworked, oversexed, under-rested father. COOL. The only ones who get a pass are those 25 kids who didn't ask to be brought into this situation and don't get the individual attention from their father that they crave. But that's not only his fault. No one said that you had to marry the guy and share him with four others, and have each of you spit out 4 to 6 kids like it's a fucking contest and the winner gets to share the burial plot with him later while the other four get plots off to the side. Maybe asking for one full night a week is too much, but can't he have a couple hours to nap once in awhile? He looks like he could use one. I agree to a certain extent, but a big part of me says that the moms would have time to themselves if they put the kids to bed -- wait for it ---- in their own beds! Brady can take several seats with his "alone time" bullshit. You made over 2 dozen kids, and that didn't happen overnight. He could have stopped at any point along the way and chose not to. For whatever Fruit Loops reason, it is what it is and it cannot be un-done. Alone time will come when the kids are grown and gone. Dumbass..... And he made yet another one in the last few months - clearly not thinking about alone time then. Dude does look exhausted, I will give him that. However, he did it to himself. Bellalisa December 3, 2014 Share December 3, 2014 I got a kick out of Janelle 2.0 telling the nutritionist what she ate - oh I have some fruit and a few crackers. Meanwhile he son says "no you ate chips and salsa and ice cream last night". Then she says "Oh he is only telling her the bad stuff" - well YOU were leaving out all the bad stuff. She does not have a weight problem from eating fruit. Then when she said "I like cheese" I can just picture her grabbing slices of cheese when she is ravenous at 3PM because she hasn't eaten all day. Did not seem like to be the nutritionist told her anything that was worth paying for. She seemed very meek. Maybe it was not filmed the actual advice. I hope so. I think they've been very open about the fact that they got into this because they were brainwashed as children, that they hate the lifestyle, that they've resigned themselves to it because they don't want to break up the kids, and that they encourage their children to be monogamous. Quite honestly, how does Brady end up on dishes duty when he now has four wives who don't work outside the home? I know a man should help out around the house but i am old school enough that i don't believe someone who doesn't ever leave the house or contribute financially can damn well at least work at housework. That pillow shit was creepy as all hell. I find the dynamic between the kids and the wives other than their mothers better than the Browns by far. It is pretty obvious Janelles oldest three don't care for a couple of the other wives. These kids call them aunty and you see them being loving with each others kids. Christine Brown shows it but no-one of the others cares for any of the other kids except Logan. And i believe they just like to take credit for what a great kid he is. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-632163
RedheadZombie December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 I have the show on series record on my DVR. When I tried to watch it, it was the medium lady instead. Did that happen to anyone else? I can't even find a repeat to watch. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-633126
Absolom December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 (edited) Ack. TLC messed it up again. I had to reset the DVR twice this week to get the show to record. They shift the times or something and it drops off. VioletNevermind December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 (edited) This show barely holds my interest anymore, not even enough to snark on it. The only relevant thing I have to say is that the Brady body pillow fight scene at the end was seriously weird. I actually had to look away at one point, it was so demeaning and bizarre. I don't understand how someone can get to the point in their lives where this stuff seems normal and acceptable. (Also, the Long Island Medium "knock and shock" BS was seriously annoying. Get that ridiculous harpy and her disgusting fingernails off my screen!) PlanetSassy December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 Its gonna be a long 9 months if Nonie is whimpering, breathing heavy, and unable to even sit up in a chair because this pregnancy is so hard on her. Oh, but she seemed fine line dancing. She just annoys the heck out of me. I was impressed with Robin's artistic skills, on those creepy pillows. Rhonda said their kids saw how silly their parents are.. No, they saw how pathetic you all are, with that movie. Did I miss the part where Carly moved back home? When Paulie said "Carly isn't doing anything right now" I wondered if she had ever done anything. Galloway Cave December 8, 2014 Author Share December 8, 2014 Now I'm confused. Brady is now saying the construction business is his and his brother has worked for him for 20 years. But in previous episodes he has said the business was his brother's. There is no way his brother is going to make a living (supporting a family) making forged goods. Those two guys have inherited Rod's whacko dreamer gene. Even if Nonie didn't remember the actual physical pain of morning sickness, didn't she remember that she HAD morning sickness during her other pregnancies? Didn't she realize that it only gets worse as you get older? Didn't she realize that she was going to have to continue to be a mother to her five other children and work at her job? Idiots, all of them. I am officially over Brady's sad-sack demeanor and bobble-head action that he always has going on in the THs. He's like melting wax. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-633350
ChicksDigScars December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 Entire trimester early. The little guy is going to be a fighter, whether he likes it or not. The only sympathetic character on this show. I feel for Carlie, and by extension, Paulie, in regards to the baby (forgot the little guy's name). She gets to sit in a NICU and watch her seriously ill infant struggle to gain and to survive, while "Aunt" Nonie gets to parade around in her pregnancy glory, with the 25th "blessing" that they cannot afford. Carlie wasn't thrilled about the pregnancy news at first. I'll be that she feels a WHOLE lot of resentment, now. Madding crowd December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 It's not Nonie's fault though that Carlie's baby was born premature and while I imagine she gets upset a seeing any healthy babies, it can't be helped and is no ones fault. I don't personally understand the idea of having 20 kids but that is their lifestyle so they feel differently. I'm sure Nonie does remember having morning sickness, but every pregnancy is different and you feel good sometimes and bad sometimes and have to just ride it out. I thought she was perfectly reasonable to not want to take on Brady's brothers new business. I am curious as why the children are going on missions , since that term relates to Mormon sects and they are no long part of that life. Lots of teens do Habitat for Humanity or other service projects, but don't call them missions. Rhonda is starting to bug me too; she seems to have her nose in everything and she and Robin are very needy. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/1898-my-five-wives-general-discussion/page/11/#findComment-633995
