Good god, the mania...all because Kody Brown impregnated someone again. That's like me alerting the media every time my cat hacked up a hairball. You'd think he was the first man on Mars, judging by the frantic glee on their faces (except Meri and Sol). I have news for you, Kody: you didn't exactly go boldly where no man had gone before.

Any word on when another season is coming? I think last season was on over the summer

I was looking into this the other day and I believe I read that it's returning in September.  Other sources just said "this Fall" so that's probably about right.

And I nominate "Shameless Fame Whores" as the title of this thread.

You got it!

Just took a closer look at the People photo, and I have to agree that Meri does look photoshopped in. Maybe she just couldn't stomach the hoopla this time. Now ALL the women have more Kody babies than she does. Welcome to irrelevance. Now scoop up the remnants of your life and go find someone who'll make you the center of his world. Still time. Hurry.

I was surprised to see Jenelle so excited and happy looking. I thought SHE was the wife who was totally over it.

I think this polygamy thing has run its course for Meri.  It was something she wanted and did.  At this point in her life, it is unfufilling for her at this point and she is basically done with it. I think meri would like a different life now, at the age of 40 something. Meri is done with Kody Brown Family.

I think Jenelle is the one with the strongest faith which is why, while she should be fed up to the teeth, continues to believe in it and the promise of the Lord High Master Kody and his Planet.

Call me jaded but I'm having my fun in the here and now, not waiting for some goofy idea of an afterlife.  Especially if eternity included Kadoofus and his legion of concubines.

I don't know when the title changed to Shameless Fame Whores, but I love it!

I agree 100% with this post. Kody also seems to treat Janelle as his peer, discussing "grown-up" things like bills, work, etc. and I don't see that same relationship with the others. I think that she thinks they have something special he doesn't have with the others. From what I understand others have said about their book, she also pursued him. She's won in her world.

In light of the recent SCOTUS decision, Nathan Collier (the man with two wives that the Browns visited in Montana) has applied for a marriage license to his second wife.

If Kody jumps on this bandwagon, watch Robyn's head explode.

Kody will never marry Janelle or Christine, especially now as the children are college-age. They need to "bleed the beast" and get as much financial aid as possible.

Not sure where to put this, because it's not specifically about THESE sisterwives, but Lifetime has a new show "Escaping Polygamy" where some women who have already gotten out try to help women/girls escape.  They also are helping the boys who were thrown out.

The show deals with more than one sect, and one is AUB, which I think is the one the Browns were associated with?  Kind of got me thinking how easily the worst of these folks pass in the real world - this show makes the group seem much more sinister than represented by the Browns (who for all we know were only ever in the fringes.)

These aren't the prairie dress people -- these are people you'd see at the bank and not think twice about.  And the conditions the women are kept in/kept pregnant in are horrifying.  And the brainwashing complete.  It's fascinating, but painful to see.

I would love for Christine and Robin and Kody to watch it and continue to assert that the prairie dress people are an aberration when it comes to their faith.

The craziest thing to me is that the women in these "regular dressing" groups appear to be in far worse living conditions overall than the prairie dress women, who may also be completely subjugated but don't appear to live in squalor.

Off topic, the writer of that article needs a grammar and spelling guide.  When something is that poorly written, I tend to doubt its veracity.

With that said, I had already quit watching this mess and knowing it will center on Robun just validates that choice.  I will read all I need to know on the forums.

I wonder why there is a custody battle over two kids when Robyn has three kids with her ex. I also wonder if there really IS a custody battle or if this is just another draaama storyline with no real action on the Brown's part.

Could be that the oldest one gets his own say and gets to choose where he stays, while the other two are bound by custody agreements that are more strict.

i have been wondering why there is no group here for "Escaping Polygamy." I have been really puzzled by all the drama around the middle of the night escapes. If they are over 18 they should just call the police to give them an escort out in broad daylight.

I don't understand this fertility cult religion they've got going here. It directly contradicts Jesus' teaching that there will be no marriages in Heaven, that marriage interferes with a spiritual life, and that a relationship with God is more satisfying than marriage. St. Paul specifically advocated celibacy, & discouraged polygamy. So while those teachings serve to undermine ANY involvement of the church with marriage, it makes you realize that there's no way these people should be calling themselves Christians!

Polygamy and celibacy are extremes on a single continuum--someone interpreting the book and advocating that their way is the "right" way to do sex/marriage. Polygamy is obviously problematic, and celibacy brings it's own set of problems (seen many Shakers lately?) ;)

I'm wondering if some of Meri's tweets could refer to her dealing with menopause.  Some women experience a real sense of loss at that time.  That, plus the divorce and Robyn's pregnancy could be very depressing.  I wish she would leave and find a nice guy and enter a non-poly relationship.  I've always liked her.

I also hope that Meri finds happiness with a non-polyg. Imagine how that would eat at Kody's ego. Meri is meant to be on his afterlife planet!

This is probably not the correct  topic for this but I wasn't sure where to post it.  I was googling "Hyrum Timpson" (remember from Polygamy USA?) and I clicked on 'images'.  I scrolled through and found one picture called Centennial Park at the beach.  In the back on the right was Hyrum.  Kellie was there too and it looked like she was pregnant.  I've always been curious about those two!

Hard to "interpret" Jesus' suggestion that men should become eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven as anything other than advocating celibacy, which He practiced Himself.

It's also hard to "interpret" Jesus' teaching that nobody will be married in Heaven as anything other than nobody will be married in Heaven.

we will be like the Angels. That comment lends itself to interpretation, what did He mean by that? We will not be differentiated by gender, or we won't have sex? Maybe we won't have bodies? In any case we won't be polygamous!

It wasStPaul who advocated for monogamy if a man couldn't manage the more perfect state of celibacy, and advised against polygamy. Christians were to multiply by recruitment of converts, not childbearing.

What's interesting about the case is it isn't about making polygamy legal, it's about decriminalizing it. They don't want to be prosecuted for being in their spiritual marriages. If polygamous marriages were made legal, they would not be able to bleed the beast, file numerous bankruptcies and all the other various schemes that go on. Plus there is no way programs such as social security, IRS and insurance can handle polygamous families. There will be the famewhore families like the Colliers in Montana who may say they want to legally marry but you notice they have only two wives and they want their own reality show. I guarantee your average 7-8 sister wife plig family patriarch wants nothing to do with legal marriages.

They don't want to be prosecuted for being in their spiritual marriages.

Except they are not being prosecuted.  All of the phony hoopla ending in the "Flight to Vegas" was for show.  No state actually prosecutes polygamy as far as I can see.  They prosecute things like child abuse, CSC, and welfare fraud. This, along with everything else the Brown Clowns do, is just for media attention.

  • Love 3

True about the prosecution. I should have said they want the threat of prosecution taken off the books in Utah. They haven't prosecuted for polygamy here in decades. The attorney in the case is an attorney for the alternative lifestyle community (my sister has worked with him in other national cases). I believe he took on this case thinking it was a good thing, removing the stigma from an alternative lifestyle and he got the "face of polygamy" ie. the current TV stars, the Browns, to sign on as the defendants. Unfortunately, he didn't know the real backstory of the Browns.

Unfortunately, he didn't know the real backstory of the Browns.

And the Browns are just one goofy face of polygamy.  He should look into the truly dark and horrible side like Warren Jeffs and his disciples before he thinks prosecuting polygamy is a bad thing.  Watching Escaping Polygamy is bone chilling.  The Brown Clowns and their stupid antics are benign enough (with the exception of their bankruptcies and bleeding the beast) but there are some really horrible things going on that are deserve a hard look.

I have the marathon on for background noise while I work, but I just caught the scene in S5:E11 where Janelle says she's afraid that Maddie will meet some guy while she's still young, and abandon all her dreams and goals because she's too caught up with the relationship. Now that's a lady who knows her kids...

Ugh. I hope the engagement isn't a mistake. I don't think the People article said what the fiance did for a living, but I hope he's financially stable and open to her finishing college. I don't think the article mentioned her career plans either. I'm a year younger than this guy and can't fathom marrying an 18-year-old!

I'd have pegged her as the least likely to marry first between the four older girls. Mariah was the prime candidate to me, but she's too unpleasant IMO.

I am torn on this news...I really like Maddie (she's my fave Brown) but I hope this guy is genuine and not some famewhore.  Is this a fairly new relationship?  I didn't even know she was dating someone.  Isn't Maddie 19 though?  ...I just checked Wikipedia and it says she was born November 3 1995 so she will be 20 this year.

I am just shocked they published this the morning of their season premiere *sarcasm*

He repairs equipment in mines as a job. Maddie dropped out of college after her freshman year. Why the rush to get engaged?? His age?

I'm gonna guess because the show needed a new storyline for this season? The Robyn stories are not popular and the Duggar kids' weddings got good ratings, so... I hope I'm just being cynical and that this was actually Maddie's decision.
