I also appreciate any soap confrontation that leads to one character saying, "So you're going to do [XYZ]?" and the other says, "Isn't that what you did?".

And even if Marci's acting was strong enough to portray her various personalities differently, you're right it would be insulting to the other actors if she drew on their "traits".   It would be so much more fun for her, and probably us, if she got to portray a character completely different from her version of Abby.

Speaking of Abby, shouldn't she and Chad been at the wedding?  And, yes, glaring absence of Sean Douglas and Belle.

Since we going to call what Rafe did to Hope "cheating" please tell me is the term "micro cheating" is going to get brought up sometime next week or alluding to it.  Because let's be real, Rafe was already catching feelings for Sami when they were going on the wild goose hunt to find Will.  He knew that shit made Hope insecure as hell and he did it anyways.  So if we doing this "cheating" route let's touch on everything, RC. 

As for the "tell to vs not to tell"  I'm on Claire's side and then I'm not.  Ciara knew about this "cheating" and chose not to tell her own mom about it because it might "hurt her."  I'm sorry but Ciara shouldn't have allowed Rafe AND Tripp to talk her into keeping it quiet from her own mom.  I get there are two kinds of women when a situation like this happens: You have the woman who doesn't want to know in fear she doesn't want to be reminded she have pushed her man to his ex.  Then you got the other woman (like myself) if a man like Rafe hopped in-between his ex's thighs a few hrs after a breakup and kept it a secret and reunited with me shortly after, it would be a problem.  Yet where I lose respect for Claire in this is she had to be petty bringing up Theo. Where she has been with him but also listing for Tripp on the side.  Plus does Claire even know how her momma Belle was brought into the world - an affair!  So for her to be so rigid is a little interesting to say the least. 

My favorite when Claire shouted out that Rafe cheated Doug was about turn into a pitbull.  He looked like he was growling ready to attack. ☕

So we get like two scenes of Horita every other week with a "it's ok cause we bonded off-screen while being held hostage" notation vs. the endless barrage of GabbyAbby/NikolasCassadie & Brady/Eve. Ugh. Shoot me now.

Clearly Hope should never have a wedding again.  No doubt they will get over this and stay together eventually, but half the town now knows about Rafe cheating on her, and he is her subordinate at work.  It's just so messy.  I thought Claire's greatest offense was that dress she was wearing, and her second offense was the song she was going to sing.  But her ridiculous outing of Rafe has those beat.  Claire actually made me like Ciara, and that is saying something.

I'm TeamClaire all the way. She's the only person in the whole damn town who thinks Hope has the right to know Rafe is a lying, cheating asshole. The constant worship of Rafe makes me want to kick in my TV. Now that Hope knows the truth maybe she can be the real Hope Brady again instead of the weak, brainless pathetic twit that she's turned into since getting together with Rafe. 

 

The ending today was great soap. I'm more than ready for JJ to find out he's not going to be a father. I like JJ but he's way too over the top about Lani's baby. I know it's  for later dramatic effect, but enough already.

I know Julie makes me cranky, unreasonably cranky.  She's a certified loon, but that's nothing new.  She's completely self-centered and in the worst way, completely convinced she's loving and giving and farts rainbows out of her ass.  She has opinions on things she can't spell much less comprehend and nobody but nobody gets it wrong more often.

But, every now and then, like today, she has a moment with Doug and I soften towards her, at least a little.

Then she praised him for always loving her and I couldn't help but think, "yep, he did, even when he was MARRIED TO YOUR MOTHER".  Only in Salem, only in Salem.

However, all that crap about "Our Princess Hope" and making sure she has just the bestest wedding EVER was over the top, even for her.  

So this wedding is the specialist and the bestest and chocolate sprinkles and sparklers and crack all rolled into one for "our girl on her special day", huh?

What about her marriage to

Larry Welch, 

her three marriages to Bo, 

her Alamania marriage to John when they were both brainwashed - but she DID have a tiara!

And who can forget her wedding to Aiden?

Hope hasn't just been around the block, she's circled the globe and back again.

Hope, stick to a classic suit. Not one that looked like you took a fancy napkin from a restaurant and stuffed it in your pocket. Maybe it is a trend, but it looked dumb. A simple, fitted suit you can wear for years!

Claire's dress may have looked better if she filled it out more. Seemed too big on the chest area. Valerie looked great - nice feather jacket, She certainly has taste. Jen and Gabi looked the best.

Yeah, JJ, your fiancé is not 'showing' because she is only about 8 or 9 weeks along right now.

I get Lani's comment to Valerie about her hiding her baby daddy from her son, but it was 30-35 or so years ago. I assume that times were tougher for a black woman back then - the 1980s.  Valerie didn't have the options that you do, Lani. I don't really buy that Lani is in love with JJ. Too insecure, too unsure of herself, too needy, too disrespectful to herself and JJ. It's going to be a mess when the thing blows up on her. Steo up and be honest. Hey, you never know. JJ may still want to marry her and be a step-dad.

Besides being annoying, Julie and Doug did have a nice moment.

Claire really had no business blurting out Rafe's secret. It was up to him to tell his new wife. Unless of course, Sami comes back to Salem with a brand new baby.

Not that I didn't know the connection before but it did make me pause thinking Rafe is going from Claire's uncle to her new step-grandfather.  As much as the writers want to pretend like Hope and Sami weren't in the same family as a way to make Rope work, Claire being the connected relative is a nice reminder.

This also reminds me of the Brady/Claire/Eve scene from a couple of weeks ago.  I forgot that not only is Brady Claire's uncle but also her cousin, he is a double relative.  Along with Sami, Eric, Carrie (to a degree). 

New game: How many characters are double relatives (related through both parents) to another character?

I'm trying to remember this correctly but I think the closest thing we ever got was Tony and Renee fighting their attraction to one another after her paternity reveal, but before Tony's paternity reveal. 

But yes, thankfully Days hasn't ever gone there.

I have not been a big fan of Sonny’s but did enjoy his conversation with Gabby.   They do seem to be good friends.   It is a little strange to think that Ari may end up with Sonny as his full time parent.   Would have never thought that a year ago.  

     Hope and Rafes wedding was a mess.  Are we supposed to think Claire is the bad guy ?

I have always loved that the show has always maintained that Sonny is Arianna's dad, period. The show had him be the one to deliver Arianna. That is a Days trope, where a father delivers his own child.  Plus, Will and Gabi signed documents saying that if anything were to happen to them, Sonny, as her dad, would take legal custody of her..

Years ago Marie Horton dated a man named Mark Brooks. Turned out Mark was really her presumed dead brother Tommy. Tommy had amnesia and had plastic surgery after being injured during war. I don't know if they ever slept together.

Doubtful.  Does anybody remember watching back then, if the audience knew that Mark was really Tommy?  It wasn't like Erica and Mark on AMC, where the audience knew they were half siblings and they kept coming thisclose to doing it.

From being on different Days boards throughout the years. I remember people saying  that they kissed and made out, but, it never became sexual. After their sibling relationship was revealed, it is what propelled, Marie, a lifelong Protestant, to become a Catholic nun. Marie did end up dating her brother but they didn't sleep together.  She was devastated by the whole thing, left Salem and went to Africa as a medical missionary.  I think that's when she became Catholic.

Some much to love in today's episode:

Hope's telling off Rafe and not buying his excuses--that was fabulous.

Eric's not letting Jenn get away with hand-waving Abby's having sex with EJ when EJ was engaged to Sami--"that craziness with EJ" seriously Jenn, that's what you call your 23 year old daughter having sex with an engaged man?  And Jenn does realize that Sami is Abs in the situation with Hope and Rafe right?    

I can understand Ciara being angry that her mom was hurt because I'm protective of my mom too but her argument with Claire and swearing a vendetta against her feels like it's all about Theo and less about her mom's humiliation and that's too obnoxious for words.

I loved JJ's "I've changed, I'm not a dog anymore."  Guess what JJ, Lani hasn't changed one iota since your drunken one night strand where she helped you cheat on Gabi.  Good luck with that.

Good Lord, Julie was a hysterical bitch today.  First, she was nasty to Claire, then, her viciousness towards Gabi  was beyond the pale. She needs to go away on a  cruise again, perhaps for good..

Ciara was also a bitch today. These Horton women are really awful.. Claire had every right to tell Hope about Rafe's affair.

Galen is the worst actor on the show.  He was like a block of wood, he did not emote at all. Why is he still on the show?  Rafe is the new Daniel.  This is why soaps have died over the years. He is like Ryan from All My children, a pompous jerk that has overstayed his welcome.

I felt no sympathy for Hope, none whatsoever.  I was a big Bope fan, back in the day. Sad!

Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer, have you forgotten that your precious Abigail climbed mount EJ, not once, but, twice.  She was beyond pathetic in her attempts to lure EJ away from Sami. I did not appreciate her branding Sami with the scarlet letter. Always blame the woman and never the man..

This is how you write great soapy drama in the afternoon.

Man this episode was good as hell!!!!  Bravo Days ? I'm happy Ron touched and hit on all the beats I wanted him too. 

The secret being unleashed Hope going through several stages of grief, denial, sadness and anger with Rafe.  Everything what she was speaking on was facts(dot) com.  He was trying to use every excuse to deny his feelings about Sami, Sami still being the puppetmaster to his emotions and rushing to her bed the minute Hope gave him the ring back.  I mean Hope kept the foot on his neck especially when she found Rafe allowed Ciara to keep it a secret from Hope (She should had popped him again ?).  This is some of the best written stuff KA has gotten in about 10 yrs on this show.  And I'm being generous because it could be longer than that.  But she nailed her scenes and I couldn't be happier.  As for Rafe doing the boohoo tears I didn't feel sorry for him.  He had time to be honest but like Hope said he still allows Sami to control his life.  He did this same stuff with Kate and Jordan actually, this was how he lost Jordan because Sami snitched on him.  He didn't learn then and didn't learn now.  

Then we have Julie!!! Chile I felt like I was watching a Tyler Perry movie.  Yaas Susan came through in the early scenes.  Julie sitting there ripping the Hernandez family apart to Gabi's face but not knowing her own damn grandson Eli can't keep his penis in his pants neither.  Eli struggling with the truth to tell he cheated and he's having a baby with Lani.  It's a good little cliffhanger, tomorrow will be lit I'm sure.  I loved Julie and Doug having the Greek chorus chat about Hope and Rafe not being married, but they are married.  Julie might bust a vein when she finds out.  

As for Claire, oh, now she wants to take her ass back to Africa all of sudden.  She lit the fire and now she doesn't want to see it burn.  Auntie Ciara came in punched that wench dead in her eye!  It was beautiful.  I been waiting for that girl to get decked for three years now and its happened.  Even Belle, her mom, was too scared too to do it.  But Auntie Ciara will.  Yaaass. 

Jennifer, can shut up casting stones on Sami when Abby was out here being a willing participant to an affair with EJ.  Shut up.  Then, Eric, I love him but he really said "Sami slept Rafe to protect Hope"  Excuse me! ?  This of course was their first fight as a couple but it was hilarious at the back and forth.  

Again if you ain't watched this hot mess I highly recommend you all do.  It was so good today.

I think Ciara's a schoolyard bully for punching Claire, who looks like a freakin' waif with zero muscle mass  When/If Sami comes back to town and Ciara takes a swing at her--someone who could do serious damage--,then I'll think Ciara's as tough as she thinks she is.  Right now I'm going to stick to my opinion that Ciara's a bully and a punk.

And Eric qualified his remark that Sami was trying to protect Hope by not telling her about having sex with Rafe--just like Rafe and Ciara tried to do.  Sami is being made the scapegoat for Rafe's being disgusting and I like Eric's defending his sister.

Just chiming in to say, Yes, today was soapy goodness!  Lots of emotions and lots of repercussions affecting many Salemites.  Will Eli finally spill the beans to Gabi about his one night stand?  What will Lani say?  Eric & Jenn got pretty heated but I did like how they pulled back & rather enjoyed having their 1st fight :)  Julie was her usual hysterical self and I loved Doug looking at her and saying "STOP".   I know some folks don't like Galen's acting, but I thought he acted like a man in shock as his world crumbled around him.  I was getting a kick out of Ciara & Claire & Tripp's facial reactions!   Its like a pebble being thrown in a lake, the ripples will spread out & affect many people.  I hope the writers can give us some good S/L from this wedding disaster.

Jennifer's blindspot for Abby's own stupid/bad choices is still very annoying. Part of the reason Abby is a weak & spoiled cold princess now who can't take responsibility for her actions is because Jennifer whitewashes Abby's sins then reinforces the the belief that nothing is ever Abby's fault. Jennifer can't seem to find middle ground in how she responds to her children's behavior; too hard on one child and too soft on the other.

I'm not here for Days having other people suffer or look worse for Rafe's behavior than he himself suffers or looks. I get tired of Days pretending this lying, judgmental louse is an honorable man. Look at him hiding behind Sami, who isn't there to defend herself for the tryst that she spent half of mourning another man. When Jennifer was going after Sami, I just kept yelling at the TV that she needs to remember that Eric is Sami's twin. Finally, he spoke up and reminded Jennifer about how Abby went after EJ and that Sami is his twin.  Back in the 80's I really liked Jennifer, but Jennifer (and I have to admit Melissa Reeves) have become too sanctimonious for my taste.  Eric, run while you can.    Then Julie going after the entire Hernandez family.  I missed Julie's early years, but I don't think she was always a sweet angel either.

everyone talks about Abby’s mental issues but I feel like JJ has some as well.  It was not that long ago that he was so depressed that he was going to kill himself now he is on such a high due to the baby.  His high seems to high.

Adding my praise for the show today. Everything was intertwined perfectly. 

I'm almost thinking that JJ will forgive Lani, after what he said today about himself cheating. Course there is the baby paternity issue to put a wrinkle in things.

I think my favourite line in the episode was when Gabi asked Eli if he was still talking about Rafe.  It was perfectly written, and perfectly acted.  

I still wish Rafe and Hope weren't already married. That makes me fear a reconciliation could happen.

Jullie, shut up. You had no business judging the sins of the Hernandez family. Look at your own. Good for Doug to tell her off. You hate Gabi, and the world knows it. But she has nothing to do with her brother's actions. He is a grown-ass man who probably is well over 40 years old. Of course, age does not make someone mature.

Claire, maybe you thought you were doing the right thing. Unfortunately you are still a very naïve young girl or maybe you just like to cause drama and get some attention. There were ways to deal with the problem other than blurting it out to everyone.

I really didn't get Jennifer's defense of Abby and Sami. Abby knew exactly what she was doing with EJ. She did a similar thing with Austin. She likes it.

Surprised that JJ didn't ask Julie to marry him and Lani. I do agree with Tribeca that he is on a weird 'high'. Baby or not on the way, and one that he will eventually find out is not his, he should not be making serious life choices so soon after he was thinking of ending his life. Maybe 6 months down the road, with him getting regular counselling. When he does find out the truth, he will reel again. He may or may not choose to stay with Lani. I don't get the sense he loves her that much to marry her - more like obligation to do so. I don't see him and Lani building any kind of life together.

I do hope Eli comes clean with Gabi. She probably will figure out that the baby is his. More mess. And then dear old Julie will get more drama in her life. She will need a year long cruise, Chloe can look after the club, change the name, etc.

Rafe cheated, he made the choice to cheat. Sami wasn't some homewrecker. Rafe was. Just not cool for Claire to humiliate her grandmother in public.

I too don't get all the women slapping and punching each other. But then again, I do see kids these days slap and punch each other all the time. I am a generation or so older, and don't get it.  Maybe they grew up watching their parents do so and think it is okay. And Claire, running off to 'honest' Theo isn't going to solve the problem. Maybe you did mean well, but your outing 'Rafe' was petty and vindictive.
