Eric and Nicole are snoozeworthy. I like Sarah’s spunk. She’s a spitfire like Nicole used to be. Now Nicole’s  a dud.

Yep they defanged Nicole and the character went downhill afterwards. Seeing AZ play Kristen made me realize how much I missed the old Nicole and she works best with dudes that have an edge. Eric doesn't apply.

Sarah needs a guy who gets under her skin and isn't afraid to put her in her place if needed. Eric doesn't apply there either.

Oooh, but I bet Xander could do that :) I'm beginning to grow affectionate towards him, now that they've fleshed out his character some. Teaming him up with Maggie was genius, show.

I really liked how smart Kate was in immediately piecing together the truth (almost) about Tony and Kristen's plan to take back the company. I love it when Kate is firing on all cylinders and smart as a whip. I do not miss the Deimos days one bit.

The last week of the show has been pretty good. This was all filmed around the time the show was renewed right? I feel like Ron works well when he has to integrate budget mandated changes...when he's left to his own devices to pace out a story, it tends to drag doesn't it?

If she has any sense she'll keep it on when she and Eric have sex.

I'm sure he'd appreciate the friction.

Awww, Rexy. Running away to Chicago. You do realize that you will take your problems with you, don't you?

Eric will find another woman to take away from someone. Eventually he has to deal with his crap. Or maybe the real Nicole will come back and maybe they can move to some quiet state.

Brady, do remember that thought of Kristen. And how Nicole was familiar to you. Granted you have been with both women, right?

Hope is putting at least one and one together - kinda smart thinking. The Salem Brain must be visiting her for a bit. The money, the necklace don't tie in to Stefan being guilty. Forensics would have found that he did not discharge that gun. Oh right, it's the Salem PD.

Hello Anna! Welcome back. Do you still have the urn in your bag? All these years, you have been carrying 'who' around?

Sarah, that corduroy jumpsuit was heinous. In August, yet? A lot of the women seemed to be dressed in transitional/fall type clothing already.

So is Rex gone now?  I'm going to miss him.  Yeah, he cheated on Sarah, twice, and once with her long lost sister.  What's more amazing about that particular slip is that he even knew where she was since she hadn't been seen in Salem or even mentioned in at least 20 years.  And according to Salem standards of misbehavior, Rex cheating ranks right up there with shoplifting.  Whatever, I'm going to miss one of the few men in Salem who didn't begin and finish every sentence with their fists, had a sense of humor and some actual kindness towards others.   Too bad Show never did anything with him and Chloe, there was certainly chemistry there.

Spoiled children can be a pain, but they're kids, it's to be expected now and then.  But a spoiled manbaby, past 40 is a cry for a visit from Pest control.  What an ass Eric is.  He was as sulky as a seven year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar and spoke so sullenly to Roman that he should have been made to stand in a corner till he learned how to behave.   AFAIC, Eric has overtaken Brady in the jackass race and is winning by a mile.  He sulks, he mopes, he's unpleasant, he's passive aggressive, he lies and then, when he finally gets what he's been angling for all along, aka Sarah, he pretends he's not sure he really wanted it and he's offended that anyone could actually think he's a manipulative prick.

Sarah, save yourself.  Xander may be a bit of a psychopath, but if you need to be with someone, choose him because Father Eric is going to make you feel awful 6 days out of 7.

Could somebody just shoot Kristen and put us all out of our boredom?

Gabi looked FABULOUS today!

Sarah brings out the best in Xander. He wants to be a better man. He isn't the douche Eric.

Can't someone in Salem have a soul connection/twin flame experience? Where they *have* to work on their own demons/issues?

I so want Gabi's lipstick.

Corduroy JUMPSUIT. Who wears jumpsuits? If that's a trend, I don't know what to say.

Roman was quite good today with both his sons and with Kate.  I like the way he acknowledged how he knew how much Rex was hurting.  Roman also gave Eric’s some truths.

I loved Roman in "dad" role. Or more specifically Dad to his boys. In the past it consisted of wrangling Sami.

More of this Roman please, Patriarch of the Brady family.

Gabi wore a jumpsuit last week for her wedding! They're definitely a trend. Can't say I've ever seen a corduroy one though. Or anyone wearing one in fucking August lol.

Yes.  They're definitely a trend. I even know people who wear them.  But the difference between Gabi's and Sarah's is that Gabi's is seasonally appropriate.  The thing with Sarah's outfit, though, is that it's more in line with what costuming has put all the women in lately.  It's rare for them to look summery.

Does Eric still work at the Horton center?

did he really think Sarah had a good excuse to miss work?  I can’t imagine that phone call.

Rex will be missed.

Hopes story sounded so fake.  The lady dropped a hundred dollar bill and threw away a diamond necklace.  If I did not know she was telling the truth I would think she was lying.  It’s not like she hadn’t murdered and covered up before.

I mean if I'm supposed to believe he's Roman I don't get why they waited till now to give us these scenes.  Would've gone a long way into making him viable beyond serving clam chowder at the Pub. This show has an issue with family relationships (well some they do like others they ignore)

I think JJ is the only one who managed to do that but again look at how terrible he's become now. I wouldn't mind character growth if the show cared about writing characters that have evolved. No instead they are reduced to irrelevancy or the backburner.

I'm still bummed that after dying and being AWOL for years, returned Will has had no screentime with beloved Grandma Marlena or daughter Ari beyond the bare bare minimum (aka, near death experiences). Hell, Gabi doesn't seem to even have a daughter anymore! (I know, I know, budget, etc, etc).

Have Kate and Ari even met?

Roman should absolutely be involved in his kids lives. Rex barely spoke to him and now poof....he's gone.

Honestly what was the point of bringing Will back? They haven't really done much with him since his return unless its to give Sonny something to do or maybe they only brought him back because its the only person Ben killed that most fans were outraged over(I wasn't honestly) and its much easier to have people accept Ben if Will was alive which I think may have been the real reason. Who cares about Paige, Serena and Nurse Wendy eh?

Now Ben is accepted and him being an SK is an afterthought and has reverted to the nondescript character he was before his character went nuts.

At least Will is still on the show and we got to see his face.

They shouldn't have killed EJ off to begin with if Sami was leaving. Just have EJ/Sami get their HEA so I would've been spared hearing Sami lament about EJ all this team until he was resurrected.

I’m with you on the EJ one. With no indication that JS will return, and given he seemed to be a main reason for the popularity of the character, I found that return from the dead nonsensical. What’s most frustrating to me is how it has now limited Sami’s character when she makes her returns, as she is always hamstrung to her offscreen “love of her life”.

I enjoy having Will back, and feel his return has driven a lot of storyline that was independent of who (unsuccessfully) killed him. I’d definitely welcome more interactions with his grandparents, but with so few Brady or Horton younger generation/“kids” now on the canvas (I count Ciara and JJ, and Eli although he wasn’t raised as one), I feel his presence is important.

That's the thing they don't utilize Will(or Ciara, JJ, and Eli) all that well at this point. In Will's case I was used to him not being around then he returns and its as if they had no idea what to do with him except for his relationship with Paul at one point. Then Paul left and well look at Will now. These four should be a lot more memorable than they are and none of them are I say Eli is in the best shape of the four because he hasn't been featured as much so he's less damaged than the other three.

What I hate about this EJ is alive story is that we have been shown he has suffered burns to most of his body.  So that means life-long tending to someone with those kinds of injuries.  This happens in the real world, but now we have Sami dealing with this and her kids, and living in Europe.  Who wrote this story for Sami?!

But EJ is also a Dimera and I was eventually waiting for Sami to reveal that he had fully recovered. His family invented a serum that brought people back from the dead. His father came back from the dead more times than I have fingers.

As for EJ himself, he survived being seriously shot three different times resulting in serious injuries, being paralyzed, being in a coma and even dead.

Well , bringing EJ back from the dead without James Scott made zero sense . The character should have remained dead until James Scott decides to return .

EJ remaining dead would have freed Sami . Instead Sami is now  stuck with Zombie EJ .

Besides ,EJ was a mobster and a scumbag . He had it coming anyway .

For those that want to take a trip on the WayBack Machine. And have Buzzr TV. Monday thru Friday this week at 8pm Eastern the game show Password Plus+ will be featuring Susan Seaforth Hayes and Bill Hayes as the celebrity contestants. From the week of May 7, 1979. The show is re-broadcast at 11pm the same night.

Spoiler alert: Susan is NOT a good player!

The thing with EJ is that they could have just left him dead. They didn't have to make it that the serum worked on him. They should have waited things out to see how James Scott felt a few years down the line and then decided to either leave him dead or bring him back.

It's pretty clear he won't return now....they should just kill EJ. But they won't.

Sami obsessively trying to make things work with the wrong men is her MO though....so while it isn't a Happy Ending...I do buy it.

I just realized that the reason they started up with the idea of Ted and Kate again was to create a triangle between them and Hope. Obviously the budget cuts put an end to the storyline before it could begin.

I hope this stuff with Anna and Tony ends up being good.

Jumping back to last week, I was catching up on some Gabi scenes.  I'm not sure which day this was, but there was this hilarious scene where Gabi came into the DiMera living room, spotted a framed picture of Stefan, and replaced it with one of herself, hee!  It's not quite as gangster as swapping out the Stefano portrait, but there's still time!

She also - and @peachmangosteen will feel me on this - called to the butler to make her some coffee a very specific way, which reminded me of our girl Kimberly Andrews swanning around the Buchanan mansion inviting co-conspirators for coffee, all under Nigel's withering glare and catty remarks.  Oh I love it.

A lot of places do very well with event rentals and catering, Silver Raven. $1500 a night plus $3000 in catering is a good haul. It's tough for restaurants to survive these days, so every little bit extra helps out. Hopefully you won't charge both John and Marlena - double dipping is not right.

Brady, put the brain cell in to motion. How convenient that Nicole's 'burns' are where Kristen's tattoo was. How interesting that Nicole made you think of Kristen.  The little brain cell that could!

Anna, who, if anyone, have you been carrying around all these years? You must have a good handbag or multiples - anything that heavy would break the straps in no time.

Stefan, why are you talking to the Bobbsey Twins about investigating 'Nicole'? You can't hire John to do this? Granted, probably no one would take Ben and Ciara seriously. Too bad that Ben wasn't another viable character instead of hauling around the serial killer stuff.

Chloe, you are right that Nicole hasn't been herself. Wonder if Doc will start to catch on - if anyone answers the door.

What I still don't get is why he is helping Kristen. Yeah she is his sister but he hasn't seen her in 30yrs and they weren't close when they were younger.

Wait, Tony and Kristen? Tony and Kristen weren't close when they were younger? They were in love and married! The final act of their marriage, when Tony turned evil and framed John for his murder, was retconned to have been Andre so that Tony could regain his good-guy status, but I don't remember the "it was Andre" retcon applying to the entire span of their relationship, only to the dark turn at the end. That would have erased Tony and Billie's friendship, too, which got started because Billie was one of his then-fiancée Kristen's best friends and so Tony wanted to help her.

I enjoyed today's episode - though that's true because I skipped Ben and Ciara as much as possible.  It's a small thing, but it annoyed the hell out of me to see Ciara bounce in with that charred steak because she's just so cute, dontcha know, because she's too good to bother to read a recipe or learn how to cook.  It's a staple that soaps have used since the 70's, mostly with it's young cast and it's so, so old and out of date.  Plus, for me, it just reinforces Ciara's image as a self-centered, entitled twit who had a very strong ego, not based in fact.

Read a recipe, or is reading for drips, too, Ciaaaaaaaaaaara.

But then, the ff button enabled me to skip her and him and enjoy all of Anna and Roman and Kate, who were great, and Brady, Chloe, Doc and Marlena who were okay.  Even all of them together couldn't manage to change a lightbulb without calling for help, but their interactions were enjoyable.

So, any of you think that Tony is going to be the one to kill Kristen this time?  Or maybe Anna?

I'll settle for anyone getting rid of her, anyone at all.  And this time, THIS TIME, they've got kill her dead.  For me, she's been beyond tiresome for a long time but this latest go-around is getting painful as well as boring, it's got to stop.

Yeah that annoyed me too. Wasn't she also wearing an apron? It's just such not-cute cutesy BS soaps bring out.

And it's not even that I think she should know how to cook a steak properly. I can cook and read a recipe but I'd probably assassinate a steak because I don't eat steak.  Therefore, I don't make it.  Even with a recipe, the delicate balance of heat level took cook the inside without burning the outside but also managing to get a char can be a tricky thing.

But like, throw it away if it's ruined.  It just seems silly to celebrate it with a "look how cute I am."

I was kind of bored with today, though.  I like John and Marlena well enough but apparently not enough to watch them with Brady.  And the Tony/Kristin scenes just felt like filler until he could see Anna.  I did enjoy Anna, Kate and Roman, though.

That was retconned to be Andre.  When Tony left the show in the late 80's that was the last time we had "real" Tony.

Everything in the 90's with Tony and Kristen was retconned to be Andre.

Because of that Tony would only know Kristen from when she was really young. Tony was living with Daphne when Stefano adopted Peter and Kristen and they came to live with he and Celeste. When Tony would visit from college, Kristen developed a childhood/teenage crush on him.

This is what happens when you retcon a whole decades worth of storytelling.

The funny thing is, I watched pretty regularly in the '90s and I don't remember the retcon happening (not saying you are wrong; you are probably right! My memory is just apparently shitty and/or the writing was so damned convoluted that I can't keep much of that history straight.)!

They only revealed the retcon in 2006 when it was John, Marlena and maybe someone else found Tony on a Pacific Island and discovered that Stefano had him vanished there for over 20 year. All that stuff in the 90s and early 2000's the show acted like that was Tony as he grew more and more out of control

No worries. It was John, Marlena, and Anna who found the "real" Tony being held on the island and brought him back to Salem.

It was actually a really great set of scenes seeing Tony reunite with Marlena and Anna, amd seeing Marlena introduce John who Tony wouldn't of known.

As far as the retcon, it's one of those you kind of have to handwave because when you analyze too much it doesn't make sense, especially since both Tony and Andre were around in the 90's, and one of them committed suicide.

As much as I enjoyed vixen Nicole if we're getting the weepy version back I rather have her dead honestly because it would be an upgrade for the character at this point. Then again I don't see Days lasting beyond Sept 2020 so if Nicole comes back to usher Eric off the show I'm all for it at this point.

This is why at this point it doesn't matter if a couple has chemistry on this show because they are terribly written/developed. (case in point)

Which is why I'm not sure Stabi getting together is necessarily a good thing I think the actors have chem and an entertainment value to them but at one point many thought that of Cin too and look how that turned out. At least Stefan/Gabi don't have illusions of the other at this point so that does help them.
