Because of his age, because of his marital staus and most of all because of his position as president of the US, I think Bill Clinton bears the blame and most of the brunt of what happened. He could have and should have prevented all that happened.

I did admire Monica back in the day because she did stay mum amid the media circus and the constant bashing from the public. Not so sure how I feel about her resurfacing now. I don't buy that it is because of the kid that killed himself years ago. Something is very suspect here. I also would like it if when people speak at events, that it also be noted if they are paid, how much and by whom.

People felt more sympathy for Clinton because of how the Republicans treated the matter and the impeachment trials. The majority of the public saw through it and I think that's why it was a bit easier to forgive him and him being reelected.

I remember the scandal but don't remember cyberbullying. I do recall getting into heated arguments on the internet, but this was way after the whole firestorm, mostly toward the middle of the Bush presidency. If it happened now, it would be way way worse.

Instead of the dress, I think Monica would have taken a selfie of her doing the deed. And that pic would have leaked, no doubt in my mind about that.

I, too, am not impressed with in-show commercials. But as someone else bought up, with DVRs and recording the shows, they probably figured people are skipping commercials so they are sneaking them in DURING the shows. An added bonus is that since you watch the show, you probably already like and trust the host so you're more likely to trust what they say (i.e.Dr. Oz). It's actually quite smart but pretty annoying, nonetheless.

And Monica DOES have a very well paid job, the tea party brought her out of moth balls & are paying her big bucks & she doesn't look to have suffered......some love the victim role

Do you have any links that prove that it's either Rove or the Tea Party or even the Koch Brothers, it isn't that I don't believe you - it's that I'm interested in reading up about it.  It wouldn't surprise me on any level if it were true.  Which is part of why I was sidelining my thoughts/opinions on the matter.  If this turns out to be the case, I hope it all comes out and then Lewinsky is welcome to the all the vitriol she reaps because that is really a nasty thing to exploit.

If Monica was a victim it was of her own naivety.  She had a sexual relationship with the President of the United States and told someone about it.  She had to have known if it was made public she would be at the center of the story.  I was online during that time and I don't think the overwhelming media coverage of that scandal was bullying.  The fact that Monica is putting herself out in the public eye regarding this whole thing IMO lessens her claim that she was cyber bullied all those years ago.  If she had really felt bullied why on earth would she want to go through it again?  Most people who are part of scandal usually want to move past it, get on with their life.  IMO Monica seems to enjoy being known for doing what she did.

I'm not going to step into the Monica: whore or heroine debate but I did find it fascinating that they went from supporting her as a 22 year old having an affair with a an older married man (and POTUS) to that story about a 24 year-old teacher sleeping with a 17 year old student as the funniest thing they'd heard all week.  It gave me whiplash.

And I hadn't even seen the Swiffer segment yet when I brought up the infomercial crap two pages ago...

That was a whole lot of post to dissect and process, but some of these highlights are where my unwillingness to completely let Monica off are formed.  About keeping the dress, I think that was more about some stupid idolizing/romantic remembrance that Linda Tripp exploited.

Of note, Vanity Fair is often on blast against Hillary and Bill, and the forum that Lewinsky spoke at the other day was Forbes (owned by none other than Steve Forbes), so there is some real validity to your points.  The problem, or where I have mixed feelings is that I while I admire Hillary as a woman for all her accomplishments, I'm not that keen on her running for president - that said, I sure would like to see a woman as POTUS.  A ball of conflicted feelings right there!

I don't think that you can categorize an unwillingness to engage in slut shaming as having man or daddy issues, for me anyways, it's much more about being true to my feminist self.

Gee, I said I was going to refrain from comment, oh well.

Well if keeping a dress with that body fluid on it is romanticizing, then Monica surely has earned the label of slut, and she should be ashamed of having multiple affairs with married men.  She had an affair with her married gym teacher from high school, and a teacher in college who was married.  Not saying Bill should not be ashamed, but she was only a victim because she blabbed and kept the dress.

I felt sorry for Monica at first, she seemed stupid and trashy, but also a victim of that nasty Linda Tripp.  But, when I found out she kept the dress, sorry, there is no good reason to do that except to hold it over the guy's head some day as blackmail,  then I lost sympathy.

Clinton was an idiot, but if we judged all politicians by this standard, we'd have very few.  And many of the republicans judging him, did way worse, like go after underaged boys.   And I'm sorry, but Rosie has selective memory.  Clinton was humiliated, and I am sure Hillary and Chelsea were also humiliated by the explicit testimony that the republicans loved publishing for all the world to see!  And Monica was not approached by him, she went and showed her thong to him. Sorry, once again she earned the title of slut, and he does too for being with her.

The country saw through the motives back then, and I think most people who can think clearly about a situation, without interjecting their own issues about being victimized, and somehow revising Monica's history like Rosie is, will see that Monica is somehow being funded and is getting the revenge she wanted long ago, to hurt a man she thought she was going to get.  Monica is another Kardashian. If reality tv existed in the 90's she would have had a show.

Suddenly four years after the death of Clementi she is speaking out??   How very interesting that it's happening at a conservative magazine's  ,meeting, complete with tears!

Rosie always has a warped one sided view and can't control her emotions long enough to see other sides to an argument.  She obviously was messed up by her dad, and she has this weird fantasy of living the life of a 70';s sitcom with tons of kids.   Her simplistic view of right and wrong is almost comical.

Nicole wants to hear more from Monica? About what?  Didn't we  hear every sickening detail?   I am sure all of the republicans would love to use this disgusting excuse for a woman to humilate Hillary, since they have nothing to offer except a bunch of woman bashing creeps.  They can pretend they are sympathetic to women's issues by defending a messed up, opportunistic,  slutty woman and pretending they are worried about her.  And the dummies like Rosie who see this 41 year old as a little victimized girl fall right into place and help them out!

BTW,  I agree that if Monica wanted to really help people out, she did go to another country for her master's in psychology.  Why not counsel people quietly?  Why not change the story of her life, instead of profiting off of it and pretending she was some hopeless romantic, when in fact she was a serial sleaze who went after muilitple married men?

I remember George Stephanopolous saying that she was known to be weird and inappropriate when she was interning, and they had to even speak to her about her inappropriate clothing, and behavior.  He seemed smart enough to avoid an attention seeking trashy thing like Monica, but our president, for as smart as he is was an idiot.

That being said,  there is no reason to rehash this except that Rosie, and messed up women like her have to live out their own issues and try to turn Monica into their symbol of victimization by men, and rescue the little twit so they feel good about themselves.

Oh, and Barbara Walters had an affair with a married man and bragged about it in a book, not caring how his family or kids might feel, so I'm not surprised she would sympathize with Monica.   When I see videos of Barbara's horrible job as a news anchor and awful interviews, It makes me think she probably used the Monica method herself ot climb the ladder in a man's world. There were many more way more qualified women than she was, she was awful.

Monica could have done herself a lot of favors by changing her name. But then she wouldn't get the media attention she seems to want. As for Rosie's adoration of her, I simply don't get it. Monica isn't exactly Anita Hill.

No she is not.  I guess I have always understood Barbara's fondness for Monica since you know, they both played around with married politicians but Rosie being a fan of Monica's leaves me a little perplexed.  Maybe Rosie thinks Monica was seduced by an older powerful man and didn't know what she was doing even though it was clearly established that Monica was the instigator of their initial flirtation.  As mentioned above Rosie hates Woody Allen because of what happened with Soon Yi but Bill and Monica are definitely not in the same category.

LOL, backformore, but I have an even better one:  Lipton Noodle Soup Mix comes with two pouches, each of which makes a quart of soup.  The calorie count is 50 calories per serving.  Here's the glitch:  A serving is...wait for it...2 tablespoons!  Who the hell has 2 tablespoons  of chicken noodle soup as a serving?  When I first saw that, I thought it was a misprint because "Really?".

I have some in the kitchen at work, just checked the box, serving size is one pouch and is 50 calories per pouch.

I don't get how people say Monica cant find a job..... she has been supporting herself for the past 20 years. I thought she moved on Europe and was living and working there.... if she can work in Europe, why can't she work in America??

I wonder what career she is looking for that she can not participate in.

This enquiring mind doesn't want to know.  As far as I'm concerned Monica is no better than any reality show participant trying to stay famous even after their show is no longer airing.

have they already run out of actual guests so they have to rehash ABC shows??

It makes for one long commercial paired with the infomercial nonsense. I turned it off when Rosie introduced the taped one today.

The Talk does the same thing as in booking guests from shows that are on CBS. I sometimes have to double check to see if I'm watching a rerun because there are a few of them that they have on quite frequently.

Most news was in paper tabloids and television. Even in 2001 when 9/11 happened, internet connections were so archaic that we coudn"t get online at the office i worked in get news about what was happening. Nice try right wing and stupid Monica!

That's interesting to hear!!  I heard about it on the radio, here in Calgary, & I went onto CNN via the interweb & saw the whole thing, over & over.  So ....

I thought that the faux-crying from Whoopi about Rosie's show, The Bridge, being cancelled was very distasteful.  You could tell Rosie was pissed to have her feelings mocked like that, and I really hope at the end of the season that the producers choose to keep Rosie and lose Whoopi.  I hate when Whoopi does her valley-girl accent, and the faux-crying, it's so annoying and dated, and in the case of the faux-crying it is like she is making fun of Rosie being upset her show was cancelled.  I really dislike Whoopi on this show and she needs to go.  I may be alone in my opinion, but in the case of Whoopi, and perhaps it's too soon Robin Williams, these once bright comedians keep doing the same old schtick from the beginning of their career that just gets tired, at least for me. From EGOT winner to this, it's just sad imo.

What does anyone think happens if you blackmail the president by keeping dresses with his fluids?

Did she blackmail him with the stained dress or did she keep the dress to stop the Clinton Spin Machine from branding her as a liar and a psycho?  The truth came out because she saved that dress.  It takes two to tango and both were guilty of making huge mistakes, but one was a single 22 year old intern and the other was a married President of the United States.  One should've known better.  That same one then lied about it continuously to the media and then in a legal deposition.  That's even worse than the original offense.  I'm all for oral sex, giving and receiving, it's just not cool with a boss and an employee, and then lying about it is just plain sleazy.

I will say now what I said then.  Bill Clinton was lying about something that he should have never been asked about.  The original Whitewater investigation was about a real estate transaction if I remember correctly.  How Kenneth Starr went from that to questioning him about getting a BJ was nothing more than partisan politics.  It wouldn't have mattered if he had been a butcher, baker or candlestick maker, I think he would have lied about it.  He was a married man who in all honesty was probably worried his wife would find out.

Actually, the truth should never have come out because it was nobody's fecking business besides Lewinsky and the Clintons. Two perpetrators: Bill and Monica. Two victims: Hillary (if she even cared) and Chelsea. But then the Republican Inquisition has always been more interested in tawdry sideshows and private sexual proclivities than, oh, I don't know, civil rights, hungry kids, healthcare, education and a living wage. Same Song, Different Decade.

Many Presidents had their "concubines" ...... Kennedy had his mistresses..... Reagan had his before he was President..... Dubya had a gay porn star who used to stay over at the Whitehouse..... but it was Bill Clinton who got put on trial for his misdeeds.

Our Press has changed..... now they are looking to make news instead of just reporting the news..... more commentary than reporting... speculation is the key to any news story.... facts will be checked a couple days later.

Any person... male or female will lie about having an affair..... not because they think they will get away with it.... but because they don't want to deal with how it will effect their family.

Actually, no, and I know this only because I thought that once too.  A serving size is 1 cup prepared (aka: with water).  The 2 tablespoons serving size is of the dry stuff. It says on the label "makes 1 cup prepared".  Though who eats a cup of soup of a light soup?  Maybe people do, but not me...

This. See this is where I'm all on Ro's side for ignoring Clinton's ass as she told in her story yesterday - I was pissed, seriously pissed about his waving his damned sexy finger in our collective face with the "I did not have sexual relations with Ms Lewinsky".  (This is TMI but the man's hands are just about his sexiest feature, imho).  It took me years to be unpissed.  I've never really forgiven him for the lie, or the shame he brought down on Hillary and Chelsea.

ABC cut away to the Ottawa shooting?  The whole network?  Or just local stations?

CTV (Canadian station) started their news coverage exactly as The View was about to start, which was actually 1 hour after the shootings occurred.  I didn't have the tv on earlier, so not sure if other stations were covering it before that or not.

The basic story is he was a gay porn star that got press credentials..... even got to ask questions.... There were reports that he would sign in when he got to the Whitehouse but did not sign out..... I was always amazed that the "Liberal Media" didn't make this a huge deal when the story was reported.... but most people don't know about it

I watched the whole show from a U.S. station, but when I changed to watch Live, our Canadian station cut in with the news that the guard at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Ottawa was shot & subsequently died of his injuries.  The shooter ran into the Parliament Buildings & was shot by a member of Parliament who, upon hearing the shooting, exited his office with a revolver only to find the gunman hiding in an alcove across from his office.  He shot him (dead)!!!  (Parliamentary security had been drilling for such a circumstance & it sure came in handy today!)

Edit to add:  It was NOT a member of Parliament:  "MPs and Hill staff owe their safety, even lives, to Sergeant at Arms Kevin Vickers who shot attacker just outside the MPs' caucus rooms."

MPs = Members of Parliament

Hill = Everyone who works in & around the Parliament Buildings

Monica gives all women a bad name. She thinks giving BJ's is the way to get ahead & when she gets called on her actions she plays victim. Sure Bill Clinton was in the wrong and he bleeping was impeached but Monica is still playing the "poor me"/ "victim" card 20 years later.

Personally, I don't think any one woman can "give all women a bad name."

I don't exactly see it as playing the victim since everything she's said seems true enough. Bill Clinton was impeached, but only because he lied and not because he had an affair. I don't even know that most people liked him any less because of what happened. All I remember was people blaming Monica for "seducing him" and Hillary for not "keeping her man happy so he wouldn't go looking for another woman." Sorry if I don't believe someone should be branded forever because of something that happened more than a decade ago--and even if I did, the cheating husband should have been the one branded. If the sexes were reversed, Hillary would have been universally despised for cheating on her husband and the man involved probably wouldn't even be remembered enough to come back around years later. The irrational hatred Monica Lewinsky inspires because she's a woman caught in America's madonna-whore complex is the only reason she's still able to get media attention.

And Rosie mentioned she got her own eye done, so kudos to those on the board who were right about that.

That sounds good on paper but in reality, it doesn't hold water. When Nikki Haley was first elected Governor of South Carolina, reports came out about a couple of affairs that she had. She was even named as "the other woman" in a divorce proceeding. Our corporate media whitewashed those stories away...... it just isn't as "scandalous" when a woman has an affair

I agree with Rosie O on Renee Zellweger. I wasn't on twitter, but on a message board I frequent and no one was insulting her, just saying she looked unrecognizable. Nope, that's what I heard too Nextiteration.  Rosie P said that botox, plastic surgery etc, is like the "new mascara"  in that "we all do things to enhance our looks."   Then, she added my favorite part, "There are very few of us who do not" and gestured to Whoopi.  Ha!  Whoopi looked over her shoulder like, 'Who are you talking to?" and RosieP got so embarrassed.  It was cute.  And true of course, since it's pretty clear that Whoopi doesn't bother to do do anything to her face except maybe wash it.

And in my opinion it's not just her lack of makeup while on stage.  Today she  finally wore something besides a white button down and a blanket but she chose Woody's shirt from Toy Story.  I've always felt that Whoopi just doesn't care about how she looks - maybe she thinks she's too cool,  but I think a performer on television should at least try to look their best.  I mean I only work in an office but I don't show up looking like I just rolled out of bed.

ETA: I'm not saying women need to wear makeup or get botox to look their best.  Just that I agree with RosieP.

Totally agree Cosmo!!!  I believe Whoopi thinks she just so fucking cool that her mere appearance is enough to satisfy the throngs, so why bother to wear anything remotely appropriate.  Again, her ignorance is on blast.  (I wish everyone would just stop patting her on the back & encouraging her to believe that she's something special.  She is, but not THAT special!!!)

Also, while I'm on the subject, back in the day when I wore sky-high heels, I COULD WALK in them.  Whoopi hobbles with her ankles turned outwards which clearly shows she doesn't spend much time in heels.  Alternatively, I wore them all day (at the office) & usually when I went out on the week-ends.

(I only want to be 30 again for maybe a month to climb into some of the awesome shoes I see various hosts on various shows wearing.)

I know both Monica and Bill both participated in what went on, it's always frustrated me that Clinton has gone on to still be well regarded for the most part even though he had a history before Monica came along. While Monica got pegged as the intern who chased after the President and still to this day people make the same jokes they always have about her.

I see what you mean, but the reason it doesn't frustrate me is because of what has occurred since.  President Clinton has worked tirelessly on his Global Initiative, which is very highly respected and has done so much good work, I can't even begin to list it all (it can be googled, though).  He has put his heart and soul into it, and continues to.  He is also probably the best speaker I have ever come across, and is just as sought after now for speaking engagements as he ever has been.  He has also written many wonderful books.  The most recent one I have read is "Giving: How Each Of Us Can Change The World", and I thought it was excellent.  His accomplishments since his presidency are way more than what I have mentioned.  Monica is a very intelligent woman, and I believe she has some impressive accomplishments of her own, one being, and not the least of which, is her degree from the London School of Economics.  I do understand the differences in trying to move past it all.  But another difference is that he moved past it by throwing himself into his wonderful work and never looking back.  She is the one who seems to refuse to move past it.  She has lamented (during her last few go-rounds of continuing to milk this) that "no one" would hire her.  It's been so long now that it makes me question that claim.  No one is asking her to revisit this by hitting the publicity circuit and rehashing all the old details.  Becoming an anti-bullying advocate is admirable, but from what I have heard her saying, that hardly seems her motivation.  She can and will garner much respect in her life if she would move past this almost 20 year old scandal and get on with her life.

Edited to add:  Monica wasn't the only party who was bullied over this.  There was an impeachment and a lot of grief and humiliation from Kenneth Starr, who was relentless in his "investigation".  And to this day, there are people who act like he cheated on them instead of on his wife, and still look down on him with their righteous indignation, saying they are unable to "forgive" him and move on from it themselves.  I am glad all the Clintons themselves seem to have moved on.

I've always felt that Whoopi just doesn't care about how she looks.

At one point, maybe she did.  My parents were at Barney's New York a few years ago, and got there shortly before the doors opened for the day.  While they were waiting outside for the place to open, Whoopi walked out with a bunch of shopping bags, apparently having a private shopping trip away from the "damnable public." Barney's is pretty pricey with lots of designer items, so I've always wondered if they were gifts, or if she wears designer scruffy clothing.

Incidentally, my mom -- definitely not the intrusive type, nor starstruck -- said she smiled at Whoopi, who smiled back.

Ok, unless she goes to knock out a man and then he just gets to deck her, according to her, lol. Hell, I'll bet I could kick her ass. Focking hell, she is just coming off so badly lately. She's barely tolerable to me now. And I used to love Whoopi.

Had to laugh at RP with the plastic surgery and botox. She's adorable but her face hardly moves. That was a good discussion though.

we may just be talking about 2 different things, I am talking about Lipton cup of soup chicken noodle and the package says 1 envelope makes 6 fl oz prepared serving size 1 envelope 50 calories. I have the box right in front of me.

Yup - looks like we are.  Your key words are "cup of soup"!  I was looking at the regular pkg. with 2 one-quart pouches.

Movin' on...

Please remember that slut and its synonyms are against the rules unless you are quoting what was actually said on the show.

Also, you’re free to talk about Monica in regard to her appearance on the show, but please, let’s not have a rehash of the entire scandal.

Thanks.

Look up Jeff Gannon on Google

I googled.  I do remember the "to do" over his not having the proper credentials to attend WH press conferences.  Then the story just disappeared. Ick. Yeah, imagine if that were happening right now during this administration.
