Same! She was never my favorite but hearing her caterwauling at Mykelti’s wedding was what pushed me over the edge.

Although I do commend her bravery in getting out of the cult, I’m so over her gag-inducing behavior with regards to her wedding. That family better have “Nancy” on speed dial to help them process all that they’re having to see and hear.

Can anyone enlighten me on whatever the sauce/consumme/dip was that Christine put on her taco that she couldn't resist and which immediately dripped down on her chest?

Re-reading that, it sounds like I am asking something completely different but to be clear, I am talking about the restaurant.

Also, Kody - why are you so concerned with your impressionable, sheltered, naive, barely out of their 20's daughters falling into a cult?  Just asking for Meri, Janelle and Christine.  Get back to me on that when you're done staring at Robyn like Hannibal Lecter stared at Clarice.  Kthx.

I need to watch the episode, but did it look anything like this photo?

That's called birria and is the only "taco dipping in broth" that quickly comes to mind. Birria is actually a stew and you can pull out the meat and use it alone, with rice, in tacos, in burritos, etc. You can use the broth for dipping or not.  You can also eat it as a stew in a bowl.

I'm not sure but Christine rhapsodized on how delicious it was so now I need to know - when you watch the show, maybe you can tell.  And now I am off to Google "birria" because that looks really good. :)

Just for you I'll skip ahead on the DVR for the show.  I'm curious now. Birria is tasty and versatile. It takes at least a couple of hours to make because it needs to simmer so long. SIL likes burritos with the broth poured over them, grandson dips tacos, daughter has it in bowl with tortilla chips, grandddaughter makes a tostado, and I have it as stew over an equal amount of steamed rice.  There are two birria shops within a mile and a half of me that have opened in the last three years.  It's like Americans discovered it a few years ago.  I've been making it for years as it's easy to put it in a crockpot.

ETA: From the brief pass of the camera, it looks like birria tacos and how the local places plate them.  I wouldn't call it consomme because it's stew liquid and it hasn't been clarified, but has the chiles, onions, and other bits floating in it.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/282066/beef-birria/

Note it calls the tacos trendy. 🤣

I usually make chicken ones from a recipe from Mexico.

@Quickbeam.  My computer is acting up so can't quote, but re your comment.  I'm so tired of it too.  But I can't fault Christine.  She's just going about her life.  It's the producers and editors who are giving us SO. MUCH.  They need to lighten up a bit.

Huge revelation this episode when we finally learned why Kody has so much contempt and anger for his former church - they asked him to cut his hair!!! The audacity! How dare they! Those precious ringlets shall never be touched by scissors. Unbelievable!

He's Samson.

The tenders should run screaming from the house and figure out that there is a big world out there, and that they are not obligated to contort their faces into absolute misery when asking to go to church.

Eh, the adult daughters are not tenders. They have three adults with two for sure still living at home during filming.  Solomon was almost 12 and is now 13 so he's out of all definitions of tender aged. Ariella was 7 and is now 8 so could still by the most lenient definitions have just fit.  Yet Ariella to me is the least likely of all Robyn's children to actually be "tender." She seems to be overly informed and involved in adult affairs and the show has presented her as having quite a few bullying characteristics.

I nearly injured myself rolling my eyes so much during this episode.

Christine's entire segment was her spilling something on her dress and Janelle just happening to have a Tide pen to clean her up.  Janelle looked great in that pink dress and I love Hunter for telling her so.  Mykelti was her usual obnoxious self.  She really needs to get over her hostility toward Christine.

Kody and Robyn's date had to be held in that attic so the other diners didn't have to hear that nonsense and lose their appetites.  They are really trying hard to convince us how in love they are.  Christine goes on and on, but she seems really genuine in her feelings.  For some reason, Kody and Robyn seem so fake and desperate.  And it really says something about Kody's perception of Robyn that he is so afraid some guy at church will steal her from him.  If they are such a strong unit, other guys looking wouldn't matter.  Not that any other guys are looking.

One thing about Kody, for someone who is constantly telling us how tough he is including threatening to punch his kids in the mouth, he's awfully fragile.  Just this season we learned that he supposedly has a bunch of food allergies, he gets easily triggered talking with his kids, he has a phobia about tattoos, and now we learn he has a phobia of church.  I wonder if all this started with being with Robyn or if he has always been so dramatic about everything.  It's exhausting.

Meri and her friends were entertaining.  It was clear Meri didn't want to film at the cul de sac, so she did the bare minimum then took off.  Unlike Kody, she was embarrassed to be standing outside that gate trying to wax nostalgic.  But Robyn had a lot of nerve talking about how they maybe shouldn't have left Vegas.  She was the reason they did because she had to follow her son to college.  I still think he picked that college to get away from her.  I am not at all surprised Janelle hasn't been back.  That part of her life is done and she has no need to revisit it.

I also loved how Meri's friends had no problem mocking Kody over the poor Robyn BS.  How stupid is he was my question as well. It made me sad that Robyn didn't even support Meri from afar when Bonnie died.  Of course she used the covid excuse, but she wasn't going to catch anything by calling or texting Meri or sending flowers and a note to the funeral service.  I am glad to hear Meri speaking the truth about what a bad friend Robyn has been.  It was such a contrast hearing Meri and her friends laughing and enjoying themselves vs. the dark cloud that hangs over Kody and Robyn.

That was one low-rent engagement party.  When you meet up at the local burria taco stand (where you order at the counter) and have dinner with a cake, it’s just a family dinner. Christine is SO dramatic with this wedding nonsense. We get it, you’re happy.

Robyn’s daughters with lock jaw are old enough to visit churches without their Mommy tagging along. It’s okay to find your own religion and church separate from the family. Especially THIS family.

So tonight I'm watching the episode without scanning for the food and Christine does say birria tacos when we first saw them at the taqueria. She mispronounced it, but she got close enough. That seems like such an odd choice for so-called engagement party.

I can't stop feeling like they're just contriving decoy events for the show to film.

I started thinking this last season, when Christine had her 50s-themed 50th birthday party — in broad daylight.

We already knew (from her social media) that Christine had thrown a 1920's Murder Mystery party for her 50th. We didn't see that, we saw the low-rent version of a party, that did double duty as Mykelti's twin pregnancy announcement.

Kody: I hate religion.  They wanted me to cut my hair.  But I also love religion.  Just not my religion.  Maybe someone else's religion but only if I get to do whatever I want.  No one puts Kody Brown in a corner.  Maybe an attic, but not a corner.  So I might want to go but I also don't want to go but you can go until I decide that I also want to go.  You want dessert?

That captures exactly what I've been thinking. The hair example was symbolic of Kody's real motivation for leaving the church. His increasingly massive ego could never bow to anyone else's authority so he would have to be the head of the church that laid down all the rules. He has already put himself in that role but lost interest in actually fulfilling it because it required too much work. He wants everyone to follow his ever-changing, arbitrary, self-serving rules without giving that much or in most cases, any of himself in return.

I have no doubt that you are absolutely right. I also have that same feeling on another TLC candid reality show "My Big Fat Fabulous Life". Your theory fully explains that low-rent "engagement party" at a taco joint next to a Big Lots. I don't for one minute believe that was their actual engagement party. I don't blame them, I'd want some privacy for those events too, I just don't love them BSing audience about it. It also stretches believability and makes one wonder how else we are being mislead.

I agree. I would want to maintain my privacy, too. Plus, I think because some of their Browns' friends and family are still in polygamy, they are more camera shy than even most regular people might be.

I do also feel like — if you don't want to give people a candid look at your life, don't do a reality TV show.  When my kids were young, and I first heard about Jon & Kate Plus 8, I realized having reality TV show cameras in my house would feel like a nightmare to me (and I only have three kids).

I don't understand why the producers are content to put out this stuff.

I don't need this in the live-action scenes...

But I think we deserve some of this in couch segments and "Tell Alls"...

Oh silly Kody.  No guy is looking at Robyn wanting to snag her from you.  If they're looking at all it's because she's on TV.

The 2 of them sitting at that restaurant was a bit icky. When he asked her to say what happened when she 1st laid eyes on him, he fidgeted like he had gotten a huge boner.  I am so sorry for that image.

Kody, NO ONE is eyeing Robyn and trying to steal her away.  Quit trying to make fetch happen.

MERI!!!!!  I am so here for this!!!!!!! I am enjoying her scenes these days.

Christine needs to ditch the one armed jumpsuits. There, I said it.

The fact that Kody can't even trust Robyn to go to church and not be 'picked up' by some dude, confirms for me that he must know deep inside the way he met and got together with her was less wholesome than he and Robyn try to portray. She is going to church, not up in the club.

Nice to have it further confirmed/solidified that Meri was doing all the work in the "relationship" with Robyn who never bothered to call, text back or make any effort with Meri. I love to hear Meri's friends lightly call out both Kody and Robyn.

Loved to see everyone ooh and ah over Janelle in her hot pink dress.

Every since someone mentioned to me that Christine tends to repeat things like Jimmy Two times from Goodfellas, it is all I can hear.

I guess it is supposed to be a homey vibe, but ugh, that attic 'private' dining space is NOT. IT.  But I guess it is better than having production ruin other people's dining experience.

In my opinion, they were totally doing 'the business' before marriage.

No, it is creepy.

Kody and Robyn go on a date and Kody rails against their former church; Christine and David host an engagement party with some very messy tacos; Meri and Jenn visit Brandi in Las Vegas to dish about her spiritual release from Kody.

This scene also showed how Robyn has to manage Kody. I think that entire household walks on eggshells around him. That explains the constipated faces of the girls during their church discussion and how Robyn parses her words with him.  Aren't you happy you won him Robyn??!!

Christine is in lurrrve.  She loves David more than Kody.

I want to believe her feelings are different, but not sure if I can. Christine herself has said multiple times she was head over heels in love with Kody and being totally obsessed about becoming his third wife. She even begged her father to talk to Kody, who then felt pressured to act. (Christine and Kody seemed to be in agreement about these events and how they both felt btw)

I see a similar obsession toward David, a similar obsession about becoming his wife. My gut tells me it’s simply who she is and how she’ll react when in love.

At least David is very different from Kody and he genuinely cares for her, which is why it may actually work out fine this time.

the attic.

Oh, the Josephine's Restaurant private room.

Thank you! I kept thinking of all their different couch segment sets, and I couldn't figure out what was Anne Frank-ish about any of them.

They've eaten there before this season. One time, all four wives met there, soon after they moved to Flagstaff. I seem to recall they were kind of giving Meri a hard time for not being around much. I think she still must have been moving from Vegas, or had lost that first rental but not landed the second one yet, because she said something about staying at a hotel.

It might also be the place where, last season, Janelle, Christine, and Christine's close personal Flagstaff friends* got together. It was after Christine broke with Kody. It might have been on her original wedding anniversary (or perhaps divorce anniversary) with Kody.

*They weren't close friends. She said she met them while planning Ysabel's high school graduation party. Christine moved back to Utah just a few months after Ysabel graduated from high school.

It was enough of a prompt for me to figure out what the earlier post meant.
