Browncoat November 28 Share November 28 Greetings from Rotorua! Hobbiton and the glowworm caves were a lot of fun. Our tour guide at Hobbiton said he recently completed his PhD -- and the subject was Middle Earth. After listening to him, I believe him! Only in New Zealand, y'all. Instaget FJ for me for Wednesday's game. 3/4 time was the giveaway. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it now! They don't celebrate it here, but all the TV ads are talking about Black Friday sales. And there is no turkey to be had. None that I've found at least. 10 1 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8520057

Different translations phrase it differently (I googled and found that the Episcopal church "authorizes the use of" multiple versions). I wasn't too surprised at this one, I know it's translated differently in other versions and trying to remember which was the KJV might take a bit, also, -and this is a personal problem-, whenever they tell me how many letters an answer is supposed to have I get flustered. I think I've mentioned before that my brain sees the number but refuses to see what the number is supposed to go with, so I'm constantly saying four syllable words instead of 4 letters and the other way around too. I actually groaned at the category 4 Syllable Words 'cause I knew I'd mess it up!. The one I was surprised at was 'Breath of Life' because it just seemed a logical end to the sentence. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8520235

shapeshifter November 29 Share November 29 (edited) I hereby unofficially nominate Kevin to be a Second Chancer on the basis of everything about him. FJ seemed like a Thanksgiving gift to the audience, whether or not in a food coma. I got a lot of TSs no doubt because I had already awakened from said food coma's nap (brought on by just 2 slivers of take-home pie courtesy of my son-in-law), including: lily pads, the evil eye, junk DNA, Alaska, Lost, the Yellow Sea, Demonology (for the Zip code TS, I guessed 123123) And DD: hot air balloons ETA: the suitably slender pie slices from my son-in-law were not made of lily pads, evil eyes, junk DNA, or any of the other above mentioned TSs. They were pumpkin and chocolate cream. Edited December 2 by shapeshifter 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8520419
ams1001 November 29 Share November 29 November 28 🍗: 73% / 47% / 61% Decent first round, terrible second. In J I ran 3-Word Phrases, missed one in How Conventional, Sports, and Turkey, two in Zip Codes, and three in Life Science (how did I do better in sports than science..?). In DJ I missed two in Building, Smoke Show, and -Ology, three in Geography and Project, and four in Asian Literature. FJ was an instaget. Happy Thanksgiving! Was at my parents' for unofficial Thanksgiving dinner (we had roast chicken and there was no dessert). The real thing is at my uncle's but they're doing it Saturday this year because both of their kids are at their respective in-laws' this year. Bastet December 3 Share December 3 I'll be watching football tonight, so checked the archive while eating lunch. Thankfully, I generally didn't need to be able to see the pictures. I missed three in chapters, but otherwise had a good first round; I ran anagrams and Florida (giving myself credit for Faye Dunaway, although I wonder if it was a very old picture that none of them recognized her [Pamela Anderson?!]), got all but Bonaire in Caribbean and all but Mr. Olympia in beer, and missed two in records. I missed three in opera, which was about as much as I could have hoped for, and another three in movies, which was a bummer. I came to love Evan by the end, loud voice and all. For FJ I came up with Rip Van Winkle - though I was pretty sure it wasn't a poem, and didn't think the date was right. Apparently, though I did a show about the Pied Piper when I was in junior high, his clothes weren't mentioned, and his outfit didn't come to mind. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8523705

I thought the outfit was why he was "Pied." I got FJ right but it was definitely a guess - just couldn't think of anyone else off the top of my head. BTW, I never did find a recording of Friday's game, preempted by some football game. Finally just played it off the archive. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8523765

Nothing about that suggests 'pied'. It was Ken that said the character was dressed in an odd multicolored way. Other than that you got an 1842 poem about a legendary character. I did not get it, though the Van Johnson movie version was played every Thanksgiving, I think, when I was young. I think this was the least helpful clue I've seen in a while. 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8523794

So I guess my best hope would have been to run out of time after writing PIE. 2 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8523839

Hey, I said “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” which earned me disdain from my spouse ….not a poem. He said Daniel Boone. 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/19/#findComment-8523905
