My family and I visited Lahaina a lot when we were in Maui decades ago and we loved it. It was such a beautiful town. I can't believe it's gone.

Until my mother's health failed she and my Dad spent their winters in Kihei and visiting Lahaina was always on the must do list whenever anyone went to stay with them.  The devastation is just unbelievable.

Nice to read that celebrities are stepping up, in a less heartwarming story:

I read that Jeff Bezos and girlfriend are donating $100 million to Maui relief.  I hope others who have been financially blessed will follow his example.

I'm guessing he donated because he likes to vacation there.  Bezos is not exactly a philanthropist, unless his new girlfriend has inspired him.

He owns a gated compound at La Perouse Bay.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs returns lucrative music rights to Bad Boy Records artists

Quote

In a rare move, Sean "Diddy" Combs has returned some music rights to artists and songwriters who were signed to his label, instead of cashing in on them.

Bad Boy Records was one of the biggest rap labels of the 1990s, home to artists like Ma$e, Faith Evans, 112, The Lox and Notorious B.I.G.

Those acts have now been given back control of their songwriting rights...

Combs reportedly sees the move as "part of a larger conversation" about furthering "the economic empowerment of black artists and culture" in the hope that other labels will follow suit.

And in the process, gives up hundreds of millions of dollars.

Sure but "having enough money" rarely stops people from wanting more even if it could mean helping those with less whose work helped make them rich.

That's true. Maybe he had a crisis of conscience. I don't know, I'm just throwing out theories. :)

John Waters receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. And accepts in his own inimitable fashion.

Quote

“The Hollywood Walk of Fame, you’re the best, and I hope the most desperate showbiz rejects walk over me here and feel some sort of respect and strength. The drains on this magic boulevard will never wash away the gutter of my gratitude, the flotsam of my film career or the waste of Waters’ appreciation,” he said. “Thank you Hollywood, this time I’ve finally gone beyond the valley of the dolls.”

Poor kid.

At the very end of the article, it says they are in the process of legal changing it to his real and normal name.

In the wackadoodle category, journalists count as celebrities, don't they? An ABC Australia journalist, Kirsten Drysdale, decided to test the naming rules by calling her son Methamphetamine Rules, and it went through!

I heard a piece on the radio this morning from the BBC, and the interview made it clear she was indeed testing the rules, and never expected it to be approved.  She's in the process of having it changed.  At the end of the interviewer, she was asked (all this is paraphrased) - when do you plan on telling him?  She joked(?) about "maybe when he's 21", and the interviewer said basically, good luck with that, as long as he doesn't have access to the internet or any friends at school...

Cher Accused Of Hiring Men To Kidnap Estranged Son

Quote

[Elijah Blue] Allman’s wife, Marieangela King, claimed in a December 2022 declaration in the couple’s divorce case that the pop star hired four men to abduct Allman from a New York hotel they had been staying at last fall, according to a copy of the filing shared by the Daily Mail, which matches the details described by The Messenger.

King claimed in her filing that she and Allman, who filed for divorce from her in 2021, were trying to reconcile, and that they had spent 12 straight days together in New York before the alleged Nov. 30 kidnapping incident in their hotel room...

The singer was reportedly concerned about Allman, whose father was the late rocker Gregg Allman, after seeing photos of her son being ousted from West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont hotel in September 2022, according to the Daily Mail.

Either Cher has staged a kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment of her own son OR her estranged daughter-in-law is a loose cannon kook.

Mr. Allman doesn't seem to have had the most stable life in his adulthood.

Regardless of how the dust settles (and who's right or wrong) it sure is a strange twist rather than a warm fuzzy!

From what I read, investigators looking into Biggie's murder connected the man who was arrested with Tupac Shakur's killing.  From the article the accused ringleader has admitted publicly his role in part of both killings.  I'm wondering if he'll soon be charged with conspiracy with Biggie's murder too

This stupid and I guess wacky story won't quit showing up for me even in non entertainment news places. I'm hoping if I post about it here it might help. Weirder things have happened. Todd and his wife Julie are teaching classes because it goes towards reducing their sentences.

Todd Chrisley is teaching financial classes in prison to reduce his sentence, daughter says

He's locked up for financial misbehaviour. I'm rather cynical about what he might be teaching.

Yeah, I want to know what he's teaching too. How to get away with Financial misbhaving (what I should have done)?
