Kanye West: The Most Intelligent Celebrity

Message added by Aethera

Discussion of Kanye's run for the US Presidency is off-limits here, unless and until the run appears on the show itself, as per our Politics Policy. https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/94644-politics-primetimer-updated-070319

"And it may be ending anyway. West apparently told the crowd this week that it was “the last time on the mountain,” so the event’s future is unclear."

Oh please.  this is just the beginning of Yezology.

"In an interview with TMZ, 112 frontman Slim compared West’s approach to church to his own nondenominational Christian upbringing: “You can take music that’s going on right now, and you change it and put ‘the Lord,’ ‘Jesus,’ you know, make it Christian,” he said. “It brings the youth to church. It makes church cool.”

Okay, that's a fair point.   But why not lend their celebrity to making church cool by supporting established churches, with a long history of good behind them, whose memberships with young people are struggling.  I didn't see Slim or Katy Perry hopping over to Calabasas Presbyterian to make church cool over there.

I actually really love the concept of the Sunday Service.  Bringing musicians and different genres of music together can be incredibly uplifting.  I remember Kid Rock performing at the MTV music awards with the Collegiate Chorale and thinking it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.  Put that in an more free and open setting - jam session style, and it gets to a whole new level.  I think that calling it the Sunday Service is a fun play on the name.

But this sudden "church" talk makes me uncomfortable.  This is about Kanye's ego, Kardashian profit, and celebrity culture -  nothing else.

It's like Madonna & Kabbalah. Just watch, they're going to come up with something, similar to a red string bracelet, but way more FYRE! I know Madonna didn't invent Kabbalah, but she most certainly put it on the map. Back in the day, Madonna had Britney, Ashton & Demi, & several others wearing the bracelet. Kanye will have Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, DMX, & all of the Kardashians donning whatever he deems appropriate enough to show their devotion.

It's honestly sounding like Jim Jones to me. Maybe they won't commit mass suicide, but I could see this getting creepy & cult-like really fast.

Instead of koolaid they’ll use the “Flat Tummy Tea”

I doubt Kim is going to spend endless Sundays at Sunday Services. She’s bored stiff. If it wasn’t a showcase for North, I doubt she would attend.

Remember a few months ago it was reported Kanye pulled out of Coachella because they wouldn't give him the special stage he wanted? I guess they didn't ban his ass.

TMZ has video of him announcing the gig on a plane. I think the people cheering are part of their entourage, but I see a bunch of people who do not look impressed & probably aren't with him. Imagine if you're on a place & Kanye decides to make an announcement.

Isn't that really dangerous, to be bipolar and NOT take medication?

I know a few people who are bipolar (some have other conditions in addition to bipolar) and I find they are all different in regard to medication.  My former sister in-law is bipolar and cannot function, at all, without medication. She would become violent, hallucinate and it got so bad once that she ended up in a psych ward on a 72 hour hold. On the other hand I work with someone who is bipolar and chooses not to take medication. He's a makeup artist so like Kanye he feels it impacts his work. I've witnessed this guys episodes but nothing all that alarming and he manages to function on a regular basis. My opinion on Kanye is that he needs the meds because we've seen how off the deep end he is capable of getting.

I’m guessing she keeps the kids away from him when he’s in a “bad place”  probably why they spend a lot of time apart.

As far as him not taking meds, she may be able to deal with it, but she shouldn’t be expecting her kids to understand and  not be frightened by any erratic behavior.

His highs may be easier to deal with, but if he goes into a long spell of depression that’s going to take a toll. He’s voiced some paranoid thoughts in the past. That can escalate and become dangerous to other people.

Let's face it, if Kanye was Joe Smith who worked in a cubicle, he would be on medication. The fact that Kanye is rich & has people to smooth the way for him & take care of any problems he creates is what lets him stay off of his meds.

Without proper medication he hasn’t even been able to produce his long awaited next album. He’s jumping from project to project and not completing anything. I’m betting he loses interest in the Sunday Sarvice in a short time.

Yep. The sad thing is Kanye has become such a fixture in the Kardashian world he's more known as "Kim's husband", add in his ugly clothing line, its often forgotten how much musical success he has had over the years. Kanye's music isn't my personal taste but he's won 20something Grammy's and sold staggering amounts of albums before he was even married to Kim.

But his recent stuff hasn't been as successful. He's alienated lots of his former friends and collaborators with his political comments and behaviors. His remarks on the show about moving to Chicago because it's where he came from and feels that he will be received with more adoration than he does in Calabasas, seem to indicate that he feels deserving of it. Even the whole Sunday service thing is playing into some kind higher power.  Now that it appears he's going to be a bigger presence on KUWTK, I think he'll lose even more credibility and become another male victim of the so called "KARDASHIAN KURSE"

Jaden Smith Will Play An Alternate-Universe Kanye West In A New Showtime Series

Does this mean the Smiths are back to being friends with the Ks? Also, the combination of Jaden "How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real.” Smith & Kanye "When you hear about slavery for 400 years ... For 400 years? That sounds like a choice." West is not going to be a show I want to watch.

I think it’s more that Kanye wants to show that he isn’t in lock step with the Kardashians, that his creativity is separate and apart. Jaden probably wants to prove that he’s independent from his parents.

Did anyone see Kanye on Netflix tonight, on David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction?

It appeared that Dave was impressed with Kanye's clothing.

I agree, I think he doesn't care at all about the Jordan/Khloe drama. He has no problem not falling in line with their views.

I saw it. First, Kanye is boring, I just don't find him interesting at all. Second, loved it when Kanye started to go into a rant about #metoo & how men were scared about what they might have done in the past & Dave said something about how the men probably weren't as scared as the women have been all this time, & the whole audience clapped & cheered. Just Kanye & another idiot statement. Third, they would occasionally cut to Kim in the audience looking adoringly at Kanye, I wonder if she practiced that look in the mirror? Four, Dave actually looked really good in Kanye's clothes. I was surprised.

The beard goes with the clothes. He looks like he belongs in Skid Row.

Kanye’s a pig: the metoo movement. His lyrics show his disdain for women. His love of porn too.

I was thinking that Kanye’s Sunday services might be good for his mental health - after reading this, I’m not so sure.

They have 4 kids. How stupid to put in easily scratched/scuffed floors. Regardless of how rich you are, it’s stupid, and it’s done strictly because he can afford it.

Their house looks like a mausoleum, cold and  sterile. I wouldn’t spend 10 minutes inside.

Even though its beyond stupid to have a floor like that with kids around Kim has mentioned before about certain rooms the kids are allowed to make a mess in, there are playrooms where its ok to get paint, crayons, etc all over. I would hope at the least those rooms and their own rooms don't have that ridiculous special flooring.

Kanye West Building Prototype Domes for Housing Community

Quote

Sources familiar with the project tell TMZ ... Kanye is building dome-like structures that are prototypes for a new type of home ... homes he believes will break the barriers that separate classes ... namely, the rich, the middle class and the poor.

Sooo, does this mean you & Kim are going to move out of your $60M 3 acre estate & move into a dome next to some common people?

They can gift them to all the inmates Kimmy gets released.

Where does this dope expect the homeless to keep these domes? I’m sure the mayor of LA would be thrilled to have these lined up and down skid row. It’s not like the idea of dome  living is unique. There are YURTS and IIGLOOs and a lot of the tribes in Africa live similar type huts. He hasn’t an original thought in his head.

Groups have tried donating tiny houses to homeless.  Usually the city shuts them down pretty quick.  Maybe Kanye can get a variance for his domes.

I got the impression that he was building the community right on the land he's building them on. I think that's their permanent location.

HAHAHA, Kimmy with the homeless living in her land? Unless there’s a tax write off to offset the money he’s pissing away on this, NO WAY will she go along. She’ll have him committed first. Not only that,  the whole community they live in will turn on them and there will be lawsuits that will cost mega bucks. Their rich neighbors don’t want a bunch of homeless folk living anywhere near them. It’s not just the homeless, down on their luck type. It’s the mentally ill,the  alcoholics , the drug abusers.
