Ryan probably falls in lust quickly, not love. My heart hurt for Brett. I really like her and think she has the best intentions. That bee analogy is still sending me....I appreciate what he is trying to do but that was sooooo funny. I wish Ryan showed more emotion while reading the notes. He may not feel sparks yet but he needs to at least engage on the journey. Jose, Please don't ask your wife to say something twice. She said it once, you listen once. That's the way an adult relationship works, saying things twice is for kids and since you like to talk about 'as a man' please act like one. It's really hard to tell if Myrla really likes Gil or not but at least they are civil towards one another. I think brunch every weekend would wear me out. I love me some long mornings to sleep but eating out twice a month for dinner is totally reasonable.

 

Johnny....hmmmm.... Please let Bao paint in peace. Not everything has to be foreplay. I couldn't help but laugh at what he considers to be an argument. 'Ask me stuff' no wait 'don't ask me stuff' . Jose got all wound up about Rachel’s infidelity with a prior boyfriend, but he stayed with a woman (and her kids) for four years when he wasn’t in love and knew it wasn’t going to end in marriage. Seems like Jose was cheating the woman he was with out of an authentic relationship, wasting her time. I’m sure he can’t see that infidelity and leading someone on are both forms of trust breaking, dishonest behavior. Jose, be careful getting off your high horse!

It seems like Ryan is used to being successful in the way that any decent looking white man with a bit of money can be. He’s set and cleared modest goals and is not used to struggling. Watching him struggle to feel successfully about Brett reminds me a little of Derek Zoolander being told the files are “inside the computer.” Maybe if smash, can find?

I don’t consider it homophobic to suggest that José is gay on account of how he is almost certainly homosexual. I was reminded of a scene in Everybody Loves Raymond when Amy tells Raymond that he checks out of conversations because he has nothing important to say.  Ryan's perma-deadpan may be hiding mediocrity. Re: Hair. Why would a man's Baldness and Attractiveness Factor be "amazing," when you acknowledge  your own hairstyle preference for women?! IMO, Gil wears his baldness "well" only because he has a cute face and nice smile. If Myrla still wants to "dismiss" Gil on this score, it is her prerogative.

One Hundred Percent!!!

Rachel cheating in a prior relationship is not a big deal, how was she?  Isn't that part of learning about relationships and how to have them?  If you are 19 or 20 (high school or college age) is a time of exploring your options, I'd be shocked if someone didn't stray back then.  

Jose telling her that he was with a woman for four years but not crazy about her having children, WTF, that is something you find out on a first date, why did he continue any kind of relationship if he did not want other peoples kids in his relationship?

I think Jose has not explored all of his options because of him being such the G-d fearing Christian, he may never be happy trying to appease TPTB in his mind.  Jose will forever project his unhappiness on to Rachel.

I just don’t see Jose in the same light as some of you do.  I think he likes women.  He’s nerdy and I think he’s got OCD, anxiety, and is a control freak. Those things probably help in his job as a NASA mission specialist. They don’t help in the relationship world.  He wants to control every aspect of his life, and therefore, Rachel’s, in order to feel comfortable in his own skin.   He’s not doing it to be a knuckle dragger, but he’s still doing it all the same.  

Gil- I hate to tell you this Gil, but many of us go out to breakfast once a week.  We also eat lunch  and dinner out weekly.  Granted, it’s not at a place that names  their drinks after expensive perfumes and has prices to match. I concede your point on that aspect of it 

Gil could have  voiced his concerns in a nicer quieter tone about Myrla just wanting a warm body to be out and about with. However, I think he was totally on point in regards to the his concerns. She does not care who sits across from her as long as they are dressed nicely and know which fork to use.

Myrla- get a clue.  People do not enjoy a restaurant because they have pretty drinks.  Drinks  don’t have to have a catchy name to be good. People can live outside of your preferred patch of land and still have  a nice life.  That comment about never coming back to Jose’s because ‘it is in the middle of nowhere’ and turning up your nose at being invited to a BBQ was rude.

I wish Brett would take a page from Michaela's book pkup and leave.      I was rooting for them to make it they reminded me of Jamie/Beth polar opposite, but manage to make it work.  Take Baxter and leave.   He's always describing her as a fun girl to hangout with, Dude! she's your wife not your bro.    Can never muster up anything genuine to say something nice about her.    I was really pissed last week how he was saying to Johnny/Gil how he felt the same way.   Gil mention if he knew of and heard about Myrla he'd never talk to her, and Johnny when he said Bao personality.

I bet that ex hates him. Four years and he didn’t love her or her kids? I’m sure the kids had some connection to him after four years. Ugh. I’d have a harder time getting over that than the one-night stand Rachel had.

I don’t see the point of goat yoga. I just don’t get it. I love yoga but why yoga with animals and why goats specifically? No thanks. I know it’s a thing; I just don’t understand why and I wouldn’t do it.

I was warming up to Myrla but her “I don’t go to barbecues and I won’t be coming back to this house in the middle of nowhere” with a self-satisfied smirk was so rude it put me off her again. Jesus. Rachel is hoping that they’ll all be couple friends; I bet she was stung when she saw that.

I feel bad for Brett. Ryan’s just not into her and I suspect he won’t be. She’s going to get hurt. (I like the Kool-Aid red on her but she’s overdue for a touch-up. Her brown roots were distracting.)

Michaela saying that she freaks out because Zach makes her mad is a hallmark abusive line. “Well, if you didn’t make me so mad, I wouldn’t have to …” HUGE red flag.

I assume that when Zach said he and Michaela made up, he meant “had sex.”

 He does. He also has a great smile. Some men look better bald - Taye Diggs is one, IMO. Also most men lose at least some hair eventually so ruling that out is pretty narrow-minded, IMO. (I used to tease my dad that he was lucky he kept his hair - he never lost it and he didn’t really even go gray until his 60s, and his hair was still more black than gray when he died - because he didn’t have the head shape to support a bald head.)

So much gross behavior in this episode it’s hard to know where to start.

Johnny has really, really let me down.  He is constantly judging Bao’s emotions.  You can see the wheels turning in his head while he searches for something about her to be negative about.  Not cool.

It’s hard to believe Myrla is the introvert she says she is when she is all about going out to hip, busy restaurants where she will be surrounded by people.  I like that she is confident in who she is, but wish she would recognize that she can be very nasty and change that.  The shade about Jose’s house in the suburbs was so rude and uncalled for.

Speaking of Jose, what a cruel chucklef*ck for dating a woman with 4 kids when he had no serious intentions.  I can’t imagine how devastated she and her kids were when it ended.  He should’ve broken it off or friend-zoned her within 2 weeks. Think it says a lot about his inability to love others since he couldn’t because they weren’t his biological kids.  Run Rachel, run!!

I’m confused about Brett and Ryan.  Thought he previously said that while she wasn’t his type he was attracted to her.  They seem to get along well and both have said how easy the conversation flows between them.  Now there is no spark?  Did we miss something or is this all on Ryan having the emotional ability of a gnat?

It's amazing because men have to or decide go bald all the time. It's a much more natural thing. I didn't think it would be such a target of discussion is all. Especially, in terms of it being reason Myrla Also, want him. I know she said she didn't want it. In a situation like this, I would expect someone to not eliminate a person over something so simple. 

Also, as I said, I have a preference. It's not a deal breaker. I wouldn't choose to not date someone over having short hair alone. For me, thats a trivial preference that I can look past with a great woman.

You can be an introvert and enjoy being around people. I’m introverted and love going to restaurants, movies, festivals, etc. (or did, pre-COVID). I love living in cities - in fact, rural living makes me nervous. However, I recharge by being alone. I need some alone time in order to feel rested and rejuvenated. 

With Myrla, I think the issue is that she doesn’t see barbecues as classy or whatever and she’d rather be somewhere trendy, and her activities are dictated by trends. Going to brunch and out to eat is great, but if one of the friends she had in her wedding had a barbecue, she really wouldn’t go? That’s the issue.

I thought the plastic ring thing Gil got her was very sweet, but I love stuff like that - if you see a need and fill it, or solve a problem you’ve noticed I have, I love that.

Unpopular opinions:

1. I think Ryan checked out when he saw Brett's red hair. And I don't blame him. I don't go for crazy hair colors either. Also, her voice grates me, just really... unfeminine (die mad about it ya'll- but it is not attractive to me personally). He seems pretty conservative, and no matter how "big boobed, charming, funny etc. Brett is, she just isn't his type. I would love to friend her, she seems super sweet- but I could see her not being his cup of tea before they even met. I think Ryan is being pretty respectful about his feelings though, unlike a lot of past grooms. Is he boring? Who knows, could just be an edit, but they are a clear mismatch. He does not want a liberal, bright red haired wife. End of. 

2. Everyone keeps saying Ryan wants a "dumb trophy wife", but imo- I think that is Johnny. He just wants a cutie to dote on him and ask him about HIS feelings and perform anime sex. To his credit, even though he is an ass- Bao would work my nerves as well. But she is really adorable and in touch with her emotions, a wonderful quality. They bring out the worst in each other.

3. Everyone who is falling in love with "Queen Myrla" can go suck an egg. She is rude, dismissive, an elitist, emotionally distant, snobbish, and frankly- she's MAYBE a solid 5 (because of her tight lil body only). If a dude on here said or did HALF the things she has- he'd be an ass, not a "Queen". Gil was right- she just wants a warm body across the restaurant table. Gil take a cue from an old Eagle's song "Already Gone"- dude leaves girl- then she has to eat her lunch all by herself. Myrla, if you are THAT skittish about a peck on the lips- don't sign up for this show. Imo Gil is a catch. Not perfect, but definitely more relationship material than any other cast member. And they way his little eyes sparkle is the cutest thing- very nice man and seems like a genuine good guy all around. They have different values- horrible match. 

4. Jose is over the top in his 'masculine' mannerisms and even speech patterns. Dude, just explore same sex relationships. You're gay. Probably be much more likable if he just came out. There is some repressed anger boiling under his surface. 

5. Zaack is not attracted to Mickaela. Neither is ready for a relationship. Both need way too much therapy. He has already put her in the "angry black woman" box in his head and there she will stay. They should get VERY interesting.

It may at least partially be because of his job that he is on the show. It's probably hard for him, in regards of free time, to date.

I know, as a courier, I don't even know when I would have time date even if I wanted to. From 11 am to around 12 am the same night I'm working from Monday to Friday. I'm burned out at the end of the week. I think that possibly is why the whole go out to eat/brunch thing doesn't appeal to him. Beyond the money. I'm sure he's not highly interested in getting ready and going out to eat instead of resting and being comfortable at home.

Jose pulled the wrong card. Every season a guy is perceived as gay. Probably, at a certain point, it may make sense to just agree that straight men don't all carry themselves the same way. Doesn't mean they are gay.

I agree that neither is ready for a relationship.  I think Zack is too young and intense, and I got the impression that he felt he should be married because one of his brothers is.  Michaela needs some kind of therapy.

It's possible, even after four years, that Jose didn't have much contact with the kids and they weren't really attached to him. I didn't love that he stayed in a relationship for four years with a woman he didn't love (who had kids that he didn't love either) but I fault the woman as much as Jose, maybe moreso. She is the one who is supposed to be looking out for her children and making sure that people don't sort of swan in and out of their lives willy nilly.

She said she is introverted (which I believe) and that's why she doesn't go to barbecues, which are often bigger events. I didn't like that she said she wouldn't go to Jose's house again because it was too far away; that seemed rude. But I can see where she prefers brunch with a friend or two over a bigger party.

Tell me about it.  My kid worked UPS for 13 yrs.  killed his back, plus he had no life, even tho married.  Before a holiday, he would come to dinner at 10 p.m. from working from 7 am.

Jose might have been helping out financially even though he knew he wasn't in love with the woman or her kids.  Four years might have been a long time, but like you said, it was also up to the woman to look out for her kids.

I am 💯% in agreement. If a mother is dating, she should not be allowing her boyfriend to spend time with her kids unless and until there is an engagement ring on her finger. It’s not fair to the kids. I wonder if she ever asked Jose how he felt toward her kids or if she thought he’d decide to embrace the idea of stepkids over time. That being said, if having an instant family was a deal breaker, he should have stated that up front.

I bet Myrla spouts the inclusion/tolerance/embrace diversity mantra in her job, but is clearly a snob who looks down at the people who remind her of her upbringing. She and Gil both know that there is no chemistry and no future for them, so they play their roles just to up the entertainment factor. She’s a caricature of herself and he’s going to have a huge female fan club after the eight weeks are over.

Jose, if you find Rachel’s toothpaste tube usage so objectionable, go to CVS and buy her the same brand that comes in the standup tube that doesn’t crinkle. Problem solved.

This wasn't even a real a cookout. It was a small gathering of friends. It wasn't a full blown event.

It's why I understand how many people end on this show. Once you get the point where you are working a lot and time is less on your side, why try to do something that bypasses all the dating nonsense. The only problem is these experts play fast and loose with the match ups.

Like, ignoring anything I said about bald heads, if that is Myrla's preference, choose someone in that range. Give these people the best chance of succeeding. I know this is a tv show first but we can get entertainment out of couples that at least make sense.

Also, when Gil said to the hand-held camera, "Welcome to the Guero-Feria house", she had to chime in, "Feria-Guero".   I'm all for keeping your name when you wed, hyphenating, whatever, but she seems to be in some strange competition to be "first" in their relationship.  

Also, Myrla, STFU about his love of chocolate chip cookies!  He's a firefighter and probably works out at the station in between calls.  If he loves choc chip cookies, just let him be!  Holy hell.

I can't stand her.  These are just two of the number of ways she annoyed me last night.

It's been a popular style for years, and imo is usually unflattering.  My young adult daughter used to wear hers that way and finally realized other styles looked better on her. 

Add to it, that Myrla's always looks like she hasn't washed it in two weeks.
