If Jake has bad breath, which could be the case, he could start with changing his diet and using Listerine.  Also, sometimes nerves, especially being on the show, could be the reason.  We don’t even know the reason .. just speculation.  Some people reek of garlic odor, as it’s in the pores.  Only the Shadow knows, lol.

I agree that Chris is the one to have built up this competition between the two. I feel like no matter who Chris was matched with, there was going to be some sort of issue because he was never done with Mercedes. His wife could have been his ideal woman and he'd still have created drama between the two because he's a chaos agent.

Part and parcel for the participants who volunteer for shows that perforce include appearances in their focus on "attraction." It's "Married At First SIGHT," not "Married At First In-Depth Conversation"! 

Saying Champagne Vinny has a dad bod isn't the same as comparing Paige and Mercedes. When Mindy was the unattractive wife, we weren't directly comparing her to someone else that Zatch had been with. My issue is with the comparison because it has become a way (another way) Chris is allowed to justify his treatment of Paige. She's ugly, therefore who could blame him.

I am not sure who you are saying thinks it is ok for Chris to treat Paige the way he does. I haven't seen any posts where he is supported by anyone. He would find an excuse, no matter what, but I don't think people here believe him. Chris will find a way to justify to himself anything he wants. That's part of being a narcissist. He felt that he deserved to be with an incredibly beautiful woman, and was disappointed that he didn't get what he felt he deserved. Not to mention that he is decidedly unattractive, so to think he deserves someone who looks better than Paige continues with his delusions. I used the word "deserves" because he seems to feel entitled. I don't know if Paige thinks he is attractive or is just sticking with him because of her (flawed) beliefs, but she may have been disappointed in seeing him, as well.

He has been shown to have a funny albeit quiet sense of humor and he was clearly doing it to make a joke in response to her jokingly talking about bad breath.  His slow movement to his mouth was kind of a "do you dare me?" situation which implies to me that it isn't something he does regularly.

Oh hell.  I’m so tired of all these shows we wait for and get not too much.  After every segment, there’s 50 commercials we have to sit thru.  Fast forwarding is a pain in the ass.  We already pay for cable, and now they want you to watch Discovery, etc.  Netflix is o.k., but not the best actors many times.  Same movies on cable every week.  You need lots of patience to watch reality shows.  This show is getting stupid.  The experts are hiding.  Sorry, but Chris is ugly and nuts.  Why did they pick him?  Paige is no better.  Yet, I watch.  Rant over.

I agree with hating all the commercials.  Here is what I do: I set the DVR to record the episode.  Around 8:45 pm I start watching the episode on the DVR.  I can skip through all the commercials and finish the episode the same night around 10: 15 pm.

I have been enjoying Jake on Unfiltered too, although I'm pretty sure both ladies last week were Team Stick Up Her Butt, I mean, Haley.....it seemed a little chilly between him and them. I think he looked quite dashing with the beard too. He completely earned my loyalty with his reaction to the showdown between Chris and Erik/VA at that last honeymoon dinner - completely DGAF, just waitin for my food........

I don't think Chris will be on either. He completely went off on Jamie on SM and that might be a tad awkward. I don't think anyone cares to hear any more from this asshole anyway.....

Chris has said that he refused to do Unfiltered if Jamie Otis is the host. So, instead, it looks like Paige will be on all the time. I don't watch it, but it seems like every time I switch over to watch the show, she has been on. Poor victim Paige.

I really think that their contract should stipulate standards of conduct and non-compliance would render it void; as in, removal from the show and non payment. I realize they can't force fools from staying with their horrible spouse, like Kate, Amber and Paige, but maybe if the show withheld payment the assholes would chose to leave since there is no incentive to stay and the decision would be made for the dumb ladies who persist in clinging to a failed marriage.......

I wouldn't be able to watch this show without fast forwarding through not only the commercials, but also the 4 minute introduction each week!

I didn't read this thread until now and found this video very interesting.  I agree with her that Paige has a layer of religious indoctrination keeping her from totally divesting herself from Chris and I posted that in an earlier week's thread.

What I find interesting is how from my white female perspective I think Paige actually has whiter features than Mercedes on the average, so if features could overcome skin tone with colorist men I see no good reason why Chris shouldn't find her attractive.  I just think she was too dark for him.  Also, and I don't remember seeing anyone else mention this, but Mercedes is IMO part Hispanic, which her first name gives away, actually.  I think Mercedes has what I would consider mostly Hispanic features but is just a little darker than average for a Hispanic person.  But I guess it's not about what I see but about what Chris and other colorist Black men like him might see.  I just think the whole thing is very sad and I feel for women that have to put up with this along with other forms of prejudice based on skin color....

One thing I agreed with Chris .. when they got off the RV’s and Virginia and Clara were telling him how they were worried about Paige, I thought it was none of their business.  Paige is a big girl and can take care of herself.  Then Chris said to Virginia she should butt out .. it as none of her business.  He was right.  Since when are they so interested in Paige?  They only met a few days ago.  Mind your business is right.  Eric acting like a little girl.  A good wind could knock him over.  Virginia is a drunken mess.  Eric should be ashamed to be with her.  Paige is not their business.  Straighten out your wife why don’t you?   I learned my lesson about butting in.  My sister in law complained to me everyday how bad her husband was and she was done with him.  3 days later, they both came over to our house together.  I pulled her aside and asked, I thought you were done with him?  She replied “. Don’t you want me to be happy”?   That was it.  After she took up all my time crying on the phone for weeks, she went back to him?  They wound up divorced soon after he gave her a black eye.

I remember that Jaime and Doug and Karen and Miles didn't consummate their marriages before decision day. Did most of the other couples who are still together have sex by the third week?

I would have to think so - most of the couples that have stayed together did not have sex on the wedding night but did consummate on the honeymoon. I think Shawniece and Jephte might have been after the honeymoon but before decision day. I think he was still sleeping on the floor during their honeymoon.

I think Chris and Mercedes planned this. Merced’s had that same dumb smile like she was enjoying it, but played it off better than him. And he is a textbook narcissist. He is LITERALLY hitting every single narcissistic red flag, it’s almost like he’s following a playbook. I’ve never seen a narcissist THIS obvious before on my TV. I’m baffled how he’s not been called out yet. I literally have no words, his narcissism is absolutely INSANE  

 

I know this post is 2.5 years old, but I have to comment since I just started watching this show, and no one but you has said that she is not only a problem drinker, but a person who pushes others to drink when they don’t want to.  Am I the only person who heard her say that her girlfriends finally told her “3 tequila shots max” and she accepted that but then did more shots when she got home?  😥
