You're right. And losing weight like that would totally go against brand. She's spent the past 7 seasons trying to "prove" that she can be fat AND fit AND fabulous. To do something drastic like WLS would be her saying that she's not those things, and Whitney's not going to let that go for a LONG time. 

Whitney doesn't want to lose weight or be healthy-she wants to be able to eat and act how she wants and for everyone to think she's wonderful for doing so. She can also blame anything that happens on fat shaming and a world that just doesn't understand. As long as she's fat she doesn't have to fix the REAL problem-her personality.

Whitney would make a terrible personal trainer. I doubt she has the stamina to even watch someone else work out for an hour. She can't stand that long. She's one of those people who's been rewarded for minimal effort for so long that she's bought into her own hype. She probably thinks that she doesn't need proper form or stamina to be a trainer-since she's morbidly obese she thinks that the fact that she waves her hands through the motions is more than enough.

Totally.  My trainer is at the gym from early morning until late in the evening and barely gets a break for food.  I couldn't imagine Whitney devoting her entire day to her clients and not an all-day ass-kissing from her pals.

Nope. My mom had it 13 years ago and it's a complete lifestyle change that continues today. She's looking at it the same as the Poundicipants do-a shortcut to Thindom. That they'll now be magically be able to continue living exactly as they are now, only they'll be losing weight. She doesn't want to make any actual changes.

Well,  the science part of the written NASM exam would probably do her in. Anatomy and physiology... these gave me nightmares when I was studying for the NASM exam.

I felt like after 8 years we finally got a little bit of honesty from Whit.  No so much from the friends - who knew that she had to be served meals in bed because she was so exhausted from over-exercising 🙄

The fact is that she lived in Charlotte for a year (if she lived there when they were not filming) before everything closed, and aside from working 2 hours a week did nothing to meet people?  There's church (synagogue? 😄 ), volunteering, joining meet-up groups for interests, take a class, actually go to the gym, dog parks, and I'm sure other things that didn't just pop into my head in the last minute.  If she wants to meet a guy online she either needs to sign up on a chubby chaser site or forget it - guys online who don't think they deserve a total babe still want someone in the bounds of normal and she's just not.  To have a guy meet and like her she has to go out and DO something.  Now that Charlotte's shut down it's kind of too late - she's not going to meet a guy whilst drinking in a bar with Ryan or Buddy.  I thought her friends were right about her needing to think about her motivation for surgery, but all of this "I see how you try" to someone who doesn't try at all is not helpful.

I don't know what the obesity rate in NC is, but when I lived there in the 80s it wasn't THAT unusual to see women like her on a daily basis, just out existing in the world. Her whole schtick was being fat *and* fabulous, but now she's just an average fat thirtysomething with no job and an abrasive personality. Guys would swipe left (left is no, right?) on her, but wouldn't take the time to insult her. They're too busy hustling for matches.

I'm not saying fat shaming doesn't happen--people called Michelle Obama, possibly the fittest first lady we've ever had, fat--but rather than build on Whitney's real world experiences, they're just making shit up out of whole cloth. Heck, fat, thin, short, tall, bespectacled, blonde, freckled, sunburnt, dandruff-dusted, big- or small-chested, big- or small-nosed, look too old, look too young, someone is gonna have something to say about your appearance. But instead of working with the experiences Whitney may have actually had, TLC tries to make it into something extreme and *special*.

Exactly. This is where some people get confused about how huge Whitney really is. She’s short so the numbers differ. Because of My 600 lb life show, people see 600 lbs as the benchmark for the horrendously fat - only people who weight that much would be bedbound or need a special doctor to have weigh loss surgery. So it sounds like at 350 (probably closer to 400) Whitney is a LOT less than that, right? Actually not so much because of her height. I’d have to go through the stats  but I would wager there have been people on My 600 lb life that have BMIs very close to Whitneys even though their weight is actually more. 

And we are starting to see the signs that she’s ‘that huge’. Just look at her physical activity on screen. She’s almost always sitting down leaning backward. She can’t really sit properly. She can’t stand up for any significant amount of time. Even if you compare her role in the NoBSActive videos - when she was with Ryan she was doing stupid stuff, but she was doing something. What we’ve seen from the ones with Jessica show her sitting on a bench opening and closing her legs - very my 600lb life. 

She’s in trouble.

Regarding the personal training venture, I was hoping she either forgot about it or gave up on it. She would make the training session all about her, probably brag about winning second place at a weight lifting competition (out of 2 people), finishing an 8k (all the while sobbing), etc etc.

I'm old, and (thank God) never had to use a dating app, but even I know that somebody who looks like Whitney would get cruel comments on social media. And I don't think it's necessarily people who've seen the show, and know the full extent of her grossness; I'm pretty sure she could parade naked through downtown Charlotte and nobody would know who she is. 

How is it that the only friends she has in life are high school vintage? Doesn't she keep up with anyone she knows from college, her radio 'career', her cruises, etc.?

Years ago, a patient at the hospital I worked had weight loss surgery (when the gastric bypasses were a relatively new procedure, and the hospital I worked at had a specialist from San Francisco come in and perform them about twice a month).  This particular patient had the surgery, was doing well postoperatively, and was sent home after 3-4 days.

She came back via ambulance that same night with excruciating pain.  The SF specialist was still in town and immediately came in to evaluate her.  He could find nothing wrong with her incisions, her vital signs were normal, etc.  

Upon further questioning, this patient revealed her family had a "welcome home BBQ" for her the afternoon she came home.  She admitted to eating bread, ribs, and potato salad at the BBQ.  

The very day she went home, she started gorging.  The surgeon was mortified.  She earned herself another 3-day hospital stay.  I don't know what happened to her after that.

When Whitney was talking about weight loss surgery, I immediately thought of the patient above and how I could easily see Whitney behaving in such a way.  

I believe the only way she would have weight loss surgery was if it was to keep feeding from the TLC trough.  Not for any of the right reasons, just to get herself another season or two.  

And a huge WTF with her and Ryan at the dog cafe not 6 feet apart but masked up...and yet they were clearly drinking beverages, which would require the mask to be lifted up even using a straw, and then the bare hand-holding over the table at the end of their talk when just in the last episode she made Ryan, who was masked up, stand about 15 feet away at the foot of her stairs before she would even open the door to talk to him.  That scene bugged the hell out of me.  

Also another thing that bugs me is all of these men (supposedly) on the dating sites sending her messages calling her fat, lard ass, etc.  

I really wish one of those chucklefucks (who apparently have too much free time on their hands) would skip the immature weight insults and instead tell her, "Hey, I've seen your show and you know what?  YOU'RE A HYPOCRITICAL SELF-ABSORBED ASSHOLE."  She already knows she's a lard ass, so why waste time pointing out the obvious.  There's a lot more to pick on than just her weight.  

And being reduced to tears trying to guilt Buddy the Barnacle to stay in Charlotte with her.  Ugh.  Whitney, there's a reason you have no friends in Charlotte.  ^^^ See above.  It's because you're an insufferable asshole.

I think someone must have reminded Whit that there might be some  legal issues regarding saying that Ryan could be easily replaced when it’s clear to everyone that the only one who cares OR works on this business is Ryan. If they are actually “business partners” then there must be paperwork and you can’t just blithely say “I’m leaving and taking the business with me” without consequences ( which I believe the only voice of reason in her life,Glenn, was trying to tell her.).

No I agree, I'm just saying she's not special in being that huge. I definitely misspoke, though. She's huge, but not any different than many, many others.

And I am certain she gets fat shamed, but I also think TLC is exaggerating her experience to make it TV worthy.

I'm really curious if Whit is really considering WLS.  It's an option that might help her, but, it's not an easy fix.  I know quite a few people who have had it and the results vary.  Some people don't change at all and you can't even tell they had it.  Others....don't do well physically or mentally.  I had a friend who died less than 2 years after her surgery....She lost weight, but, it ruined her health.  Definitely, a last option, but, an option nonetheless.  I hope it's given a fair look.  Whit is right about the fact that she wants a life that she's not having.  However, being thin or average size won't always bring you the life you want.  Often more challenging than WLS is treating the eating disorder...........

I don't view obesity as a moral issue.  It comes with all kinds.  Good news for Whit on the online dating scene. I know someone who was quite overweight and close to Whit in age, who went that route. She went all out and got good responses, along with some that weren't so good. She was dating several times a week.  Just before she gave up, she met a wonderful man and they are now approaching their first year anniversary!  

I'm not that into what happens to No BS Active.  I read it was a trade name of Whitney Way Thore.  I haven't found any proof of that though.  Perhaps, they'll work it out.
