Sonja backed the wrong horse, which is why she was so critical of Ramona. She thought that Dorinda was going to win the battle (and who knows, maybe the show will boot Ramona), but as of right now, Ramona is still in and Dorinda isn't.

As for expecting some big blow up with Dorinda to explain why she got fired - I tend to believe that most of Dorinda's worst behavior was off-camera and directed towards production.  Dorinda is the type who kisses up and kicks down. So I am not surprised we didn't see a big blow up.

Seeing Barbara K last night reminded me how hellacious Dorinda was towards her, and it was the same strategy she used towards both Ramona and Tinsley. Her go-to insult to women to denigrate them is to slut-shame and accuse them of using sex to get ahead.  It's probably pretty deeply-seated in her psychology and is probably also some level of projection.

And, what was wrong with Barbara K?  From what I saw, she was an accomplished woman who seemed nice to everyone.  So she said LuAnn couldn’t sing.  What’s wrong with that?  No one thinks LuAnn can sing.  Dorinda and her slut shaming.  Isn’t that how she got Richard?  Every dress she wore with him was down to her navel with her boobs out for display, even while with the Clintons. She’s such a hypocrite.  While she’s off the show, she should go and have a nose job.

Except for that scene from last season when Dorinda and Sonja saw a sneak preview of The Hustle and then sat around raving about it.  That had to have been scripted.

Boo fucking hoo Dorinda. You had a bad year? This woman has been a nasty bitch for more than this current season. And are we supposed to feel sorry for her that her mansion flooded? She has an apt in NYC and I'm sure plenty of insurance. She can't be carefree HA. Wake up you psycho. There are people who don't even have one decent place to live, who work 3 jobs to feed their kids, or are sick with no access to good healthcare, or dying alone of a virus so contagious they can't have their love ones with them. But you had a bad year so that excuses your vicious behavior.

She is truly a very sick woman and I'm glad I'll never have to see her again. And while I'm at it, her treatment of and outrage at Tinsley was  really bordering on psychotic. It's so obvious how jealous she is of her. And accusing Tinsley of making her money lying on her back? WTF. Has Dorinda ever worked a day in her sad life? I doubt it. She married a rich man who bought her that mansion and supported her. Hypocrite.

I also find it interesting that she not only won't admit what a raging alcoholic she is but also  encourages Leah and Louann to drink.

Good riddance.

Alcohlics never want to drink alone...the minute LuAnn finished her probation Dorinda was nagging her to start drinking again and telling her she wasn't an alcoholic. Enabling at its worst.

I don’t think they are such a team anymore. During this season I definitely got the feeling that Ramona was just as done with Sonja’s shtick as most of the rest of us are. There seemed to be a pulling away and I think Sonja felt this too which is why she was going after Ramona.

At some point the old gals will have to go in order to bring fresh faces to the franchise. There's so much of Sonja and her failed businesses, Ramona with her 50 friends and LuAnn with her awful cabaret act and dreadful singing that one can take.

It just shows how easily manipulated Leah can be.  A sock puppet.  She's scared of Dorinda - who actually has not been that super cool to Leah.  She went in on her about the Tramp Stamp.  She cussed her out at the finale.

Leah has got to be the Most Over Rated newcomer ever.  Of course she did hired a PR firm to plant fluff pieces on her - how she is a Fan Favorite.  Really? She hasn't help in the ratings.  A lot of viewers were turn off with her vulgar drunkenness.

Thank you for pointing out that these women utilize PR firms and the media to soften their image or to plug their business endeavors...none of this is organic. It's all engineered and well thought out by their "people"...wait for the build up next season for LuAnn's biography.

I agree that Dorinda is 100% an enabler but alcoholics drink alone all of the time!  Being alone does not prevent alcoholics from drinking.  Dorinda is just an asshole.  Also I do not think that Luann is an alcoholic.

Yes...they do drink alone but Dorinda seemed very anxious to get LuAnn off the wagon. LuAnn has a drinking problem...may be genetically predisposed to having an alcohol issue since her dad had alcohol issues. I'm not a substance abuse expert or counselor but I have a family member who has an alcohlol "issue" and had to get treatment. He, like LuAnn, would be belligerent and combative when he drank. All I know he is much better to be around and much healthier now that he has stopped drinking. Whether that makes him an alcoholic, I don't know. LuAnn seems so much better this season now that she's off the sauce.

This resonated with me.  Yes, it can be a PITA but her house flooding is also an opportunity.  We built a house last year and (hadn't planned to do it) we had many decisions to make.  I assume some of her house was salvageable but even if not, she was able to pick out new cabinets, light fixtures, bathroom tiles, appliances, paint, finish, etc.  It really isn't that hard to do.  I was in the Air Force for a gazillion years so I had many opportunities to pare my belongings before each move.  If Richard's stuff in the basement was ruined by water damage, just pitch it.  Nobody wants it.  IF her 18,000 holiday decorations (pick your holiday), were ruined, Hannah is eternally thankful.

As an aside, I think millennials don't want or value the same stuff I do.  I used to take a winter indoor cycling class and I would always set my bike up next to a young married couple.  One day I mentioned  something about china (I have a lot of it) and they both looked at me and said they weren't interested in ever owning china.  So there you have it.

BTW, I'm sure it was a shock to have her extensive water damage but you pick up the pieces of your life and move on.  Aren't her mom and sister there? Why not have fun with them redoing your house?

ETA:  Her observation that John couldn't understand/didn't have the same level of responsibility, etc., ummm, I think he had a business to run (the kind with income and expenses, payroll and taxes) and I guess it wasn't going too well for him.

She is a piece of work.  Clip.

I think the show kind of started out like this.  Back in the first season, many of the HW’s worked - Ramona, Bethany, the one that lived in Brooklyn (sorry name escapes me).  I think even Jill worked for her husband’s carpet shop?  But as with all these shows, the more time they’re on the less real they actually get.

Yes!  As I was reading your post, I was thinking the same exact thing!  Remember when Jill showed up on Scary Island and Beth was doing an impression of her with her really nasally annoying voice?  Now I find Beth 1000x more annoying than Jill ever was.  Even with how shitty this season was (literally and figuratively), I still don’t want Bethany back at all.

YES!!! Bethenny is toxic. She is truly a narcissist that is incapable of developing deep personal relationships. She also has such a nasty disposition and aggressive personality that she is most unlikable. Andy seems to be BFFs with her...if were up to him he would have back on in a heartbeat.

Now that we are getting a peak behind the curtain hiding the infamous fourth wall, my opinion is the puppet masters/writers/production  aren't doing a very good job. Maybe they should take some classes in creating an interesting show. Thinking about going back to see what Vicktor is doing on Y&R. Its been awhile. Used to be a daily regular, and never felt sick to my stomach after watching an episode. Dorinda and Rinna are vile and their behavior being tolerated and encouraged is what is wrong with the world. The only reason Dorinda is gone ,imo, is because she went into lawyer/lawsuit land. That she is flaunting her happy self on social media instead of hiding in shame says it all. She is not making the world nice.

They absolutely have scenes that are set up by the producers and asked to discuss certain things. All of the trips are planned and paid for by the producers.
However they aren’t given lines to read from a script nor do the producers completely control what is happening in the same way that the Kardashians do. The housewives are given lots of free liquor and producers hope for havoc. The Kardashians only show what the Kardashians feel is favorable to their brand whereas the housewives have no control.

I have a friend who insists these shows are literally scripted, and I tell her it could not be so. These morons would not have the ability to read and memorize scripts and recite them verbatim. Besides you just couldn’t script some of the incidental action.

I want to hear about the production people who had complaints about  Dorinda. You know she had to be 10 times worse in person with "the little people" and there was no filmed proof.

I wish they would spill the details.

Sorry to get off topic here but I am still waiting for some producer to spill the beans on what really happened at Scary Island (on St. John in the Virgin Islands) with Kelly Bensimon. And that was 10 years ago. Season 3 when Beth was pregnant.

Bethenny and others said it was 10 times worse than what we saw on camera, which is why they had to escort Kelly off the island that last night and get her home.

Her house should be her only problem.  Her problem was getting drunk and breaking her foot or whatever which held her up.  A person could always get money from somewhere, get help with a house, etc, etc.  The only thing worse in ones life as far as I’m concerned is a sick kid or a fatal sickness you can’t control.  The rest is garbage.  Her problem was not having a sugar daddy and being sloshed all the time.  The house is a lot of trouble?  Sell the thing, move on and shut up.  Overwhelmed my ass.

I've always wondered what was really going on with Kelly. Was she on something? I can't remember if she was drinking a lot. Maybe pills? I don't know but it was bizarre.

I think some of the women on these HW shows are mixing pills and alcohol, which is scary. And not just Sonja's "water" pills.

I think I know why Sonja was so upset at Ramona's party and her 50 friends.  Sonja said some of the women had been at her baby shower.  They were probably friends because she was a Morgan.  After the divorce, they probably dropped her like a hot potato.  Sonja is jealous that Ramona is friends with them now.  That's probably why she was on Dorida's side.  Ramona has that life after divorce, that Sonja can only dream about.

I think, after Ramona's divorce, Sonja thought they would take their "Lucy and Ethel" schtick on the road and be social sidekicks. I think she may feel that Ramona abandoned her for her "new friends". I think she wants to have the social life and connections that Ramona does. Maybe Ramona needed time to find her own drummer to beat her drum to, or maybe she feels that Sonja becomes too messy to bring around her Hamptons friends, I dunno, but I think that might be behind some of the resentment ("We're your real friends, not them") Sonja seemed to feel this year.

The shows are heavily scripted in the sense that the participants have storylines and, after all of these years, know exactly what production wants in each scenario. When they produce crocodile tears, earnestly proclaim "I love you," rip off their clothing, pretend that they are just stopping by a location, attack a fellow cast member over and over, talk to a family member about another cast member...they automatically know the best way to get the camera's attention. Leah knew this coming in.

The housewives are pandering to production in order to keep their positions. It's a form of scripting because it's not real.

I'd say that 95% of the scenarios are scripted in this way. Dorinda's meltdown is a rare, truly realistic situation, yet even that is scripted in the sense that production used it to pull ratings. Everyone knew she would do it, and everyone had their own planned reactions.

I agree with this.  That's what I've read, and it makes sense.  Production also sets up events and each person apparently has her own producer.  I think it's story telling not scripting.

BTW, I got into this discussion with my friend on this the other day because she thought that Ramona's malapropisms were scripted.  I said that I cannot believe that is true.  They are not telling Ramona "be sure you say 'diflect' and 'ordacity' and 'white rice,'" to name just a few.  How would they even come up with those?

Here's a sampling:

Okay ladies, c'mon now.  Let's keep this in perspective.  They were f-i-l-m-i-n-g.  This was all done on camera.

That’s true, but Ramona acts like an asshole while they’re filming all the time (they all do to be fair). So I don’t think an act of kindness would solely be for the cameras. Plus as others have pointed out, various cast members have said she stays in touch and keeps up the friendships even when they’re not filming.

I appreciate people overlooking my punctuation errors!  I'll tell you though, some of the best posts come from the typos.  There was one on the old TWoP forums that was supposed to read "the fire of a thousand SUNS," but someone posted "the fire of a thousand NUNS!"  We lovingly reposted that over and over because it turned out so funny, and the original poster was cool with it.

I absolutely love china sets.  I don't have a set that I picked out, but I've got my grandmother's and it brings back so many good memories.  It makes me sad to see so much of this stuff in antique stores knowing that a person's family didn't want it, or didn't have room for it.  I've always wanted a Christmas set, but since our family has dwindled down, it wouldn't be practical.  I would have several china cabinets full of beautiful china if I had the room and the money!!  😉

I have the Pfaltzgraff heavy white set with the Christmas tree on each piece, the complete set.  Gorgeous.  I’ll give it to my Grandaughters hoping they will use it.  You can probably get on e-bay for cheap.

Wow Ramona’s voice was so much softer in the earlier seasons. Now it sounds like a cheese grater.

I love china and crystal too. I call it the dish affliction. My oldest sister got married in the early 90s when people still registered for sterling and I always wanted my own. I found a ridiculous deal on eBay from a seller that mostly sold car repair parts and electronic components. I think it they found it in a storage unit or something because I paid peanuts for it and it’s service for 12 😳

Andy didn't want to poke the bear (as Dorinda refers to herself).  I think Dorinda was told she has to get professional help in order to be asked back.  Andy, knowing that Dorinda is never wrong, knows that she won't get professional help and thus has nothing to worry about when he extends to her the hope that she "might be back".  This way, Dorinda feels like she hasn't been made a fool of (which would cause a nuclear explosion in the Berkshires that would never be forgotten) so she leaves Andy alone, doesn't try to never miss a chance to make derisive public remarks about him or the show, and makes it possible for her to become a sleeping dog who's unlikely to cause trouble.

Did we ever see any kind of fine china collection at Blue Stone Manor?   Seems like we saw some at Sonja's townhouse.  I would think that they all have a set of beautiful china, except for Leah because obviously she would misunderstand and think they were asking about her vagina rather than a set of china.  😉

Thanks for the links to those articles, Anne Thrax.   It was reported there that Ramona is nervous about her future with the show and that she relies on the show for her income.  I have no doubt that she's concerned, but I really do think that Ramona will land on her feet if she is cut from the show.  With all of her supposed connections, I can't imagine that she wouldn't find something else to do.  She seems to be a go-getter, so I think she'll be okay.  However, I don't want to see her off of the show.  I find her entertaining.

I think Dorinda was absolutely taken aside and given a lecture on how to behave at the reunion -- which is probably why Dorinda kept the scream-spitting and accusations to a minimum.

Sonja seems to be jealous of Ramona's "50+" friendships.  I think she wants to be her one and only best, best friend!  Why can't Ramona have a lot of friendships/acquaintances?  If she's out and about every night as Dorinda claims, then she's bound to have a lot of people she sees socially that she considers friends.  It's not her fault that the other sad sacks sit around bitching about their lives.  I admire Ramona for getting back out there and enjoying life post-Mario.  Yeah, she's a loon sometimes, but I think she has a good heart - misguided at times, but not malicious.

If having a social life is her thing, then good for her!  I am a homebody, but I can appreciate those who like to have a social life, but if I lived in NYC and had money, and was single, then I would enjoy getting out and seeing what fun things there are to do there.

ETA:  I really was expecting some kind of blow-up with Dorinda on last night's episode.  I'm still wondering at what point did Andy & Bravo decide to cut her loose?  There has to be so much more footage that we weren't privy too.  I'd love for the producer and behind-the-scenes folks to spill the beans.  I mean she was completely out-of-line with Tinsley, but I guess I was expecting the other shoe to drop last night.  Instead, they all piled on Ramona.  Andy seemed to be enjoying that, in my opinion.

Sure, she was drinking and who knows what else on Scary Island. But those were to help her cope and navigate a foreign situation for her, and a 'tell' that she was undiagnosed.

There were many, many on camera cues that season (Sea. 3) and her first season (Sea. 2) . I wrote about it at length on this forum - way back.

She is not making the world nice.

I'm not on Instagram or any of those other sites -- what has she been posting?

I absolutely love china sets.  I don't have a set that I picked out, but I've got my grandmother's and it brings back so many good memories.  It makes me sad to see so much of this stuff in antique stores knowing that a person's family didn't want it, or didn't have room for it.  I've always wanted a Christmas set, but since our family has dwindled down, it wouldn't be practical.  I would have several china cabinets full of beautiful china if I had the room and the money!!  😉

I know this is off topic, but my grandmother used to sell fine crystal and china.  When she died she had 8 sets of beautiful china to pass on with lots of the matching serving pieces as well.  My mother took the one I wanted, and closer (meaning physical distance from her house) family members took almost all the rest, so I was left with a fairly large set of a run of the mill pattern that none of the others wanted.  I used it for Thanksgiving dinner several years in a row.  I recently offered it to my daughter if she wanted it because she has a lovely home and does entertain some, but she turned it down.  Times have changed.

Thanks for this, Ms. Blue Jay.  I know I miss out on a lot because I don't subscribe -- I spend enough time watching the shows and commenting on Primetimer, I don't need more distractions - LOL.

EDIT:  Of course she's got her hand on a martini glass and her boobs are on display.

Well I have checked in on her stories. She's either high or drunk. Even first thing in the morning. Someone (mayber her BFF Bethenny should be getting her into rehab)

I thought it was interesting that on wwhl Bethenny said that she advised Dorinda on how to act at the reunion, but Dorinda did the opposite.  Here’s Richard’s obit. https://legcy.co/2IBw1MZ

As much as I cannot stand Dorinda, I was very touched by this from Richard's obituary:

An avid sailor, Richard was often referred to as "the wonderful compass" for the guidance and direction he always provided to family and friends. In keeping with nautical terminology, he also nicknamed his second wife Dorinda, "my true north."

How beautiful! I would use that same phrase to describe my husband. That brought tears to my eyes and I can see how Dorinda must miss him.
