  1. Ashley Wilkes in Gone with the Wind. So boring and spineless.
  2. Chicken korma with peas, brown rice and naan.
  3. Thanks for the feedback! I'm pretty please with how it's coming together aesthetically but I've run into a couple snags. One is that the sink plumbing is going to have to be relocated, and the other is that the wall does need professional repair (the plumber is going to cut a big hole it in, in addition to the damage I found.) The good news is that I picked up a card at the flooring store for a local plasterer and she gave me a reasonable estimate for all of the work.
  4. @Marigold, you are thinking about this all wrong; ie applying logic to the Duggar world. The Devil (and in Tim's case, alcohol and a stripper) was the root cause. They are now Godly men who have asked and received God's forgiveness. The women involved (against their will) were temptresses who are more responsible for what happened than the people who committed the crimes (and that's what they were). The men are good people who had moments of weakness and that's when the Devil pounced and built fortresses in their hearts. But they are all good now with the Lord! TL;DR Men = good and not responsible for their actions, women=evil temptresses responsible for men's terrible actions; equally culpable as the Devil.
  5. Did anyone else notice that he didn't take responsibility for what he did, or even actually deny it? He and the woman ended up in a "situation" together because the boyfriend went to get food. Seriously? So the evil temptress had her way with him and then accused him of assault because they got caught. Lesson - women are liar whores. Enjoy submitting to him, Tabitha! ETA - out of every 1000 rapes, only 57 reports lead to arrest, with 11 of those getting referred for prosecution. So the odds were in his favor yet he still took a plea.
  6. That is one of my favorite memories of TWOP. It was a beautiful long joke and I got the sense whoever connected with the show that set it up really had fun with it and sincerely enjoyed the posters on the MNIE TWOP board.
  7. I'm just surprised that she managed to spell "lose" correctly. Oh, who is she kidding, she didn't write that caption herself.
  8. Douchebags 36, Steelers 17- I'm just going to focus on that.
  9. So glad the Pats brought their A game tonight, unlike last week's outing.
  10. I've had a tankless heater for 4 years with no trouble at all. Plenty of hot water for just the two of us.
  11. I know @stewedsquash wants regular updates, so here's what was accomplished this weekend. I removed the sink and vanity (with a wee bit of trouble) and discovered major damage to the wall behind the backsplash. I have a plasterer coming out this week to take a look at it. I'm fearing the worst. On the upside I still have the receipts for the supplies I bought for doing the walls so at least I can return them. In more exciting news, I picked out floor tile - white arabesque with light grey grout. The light arrived, as did the wallpaper which looks even better in person. The faucet will be here this week.
  12. Lunch was cheesesteaks from a recipe in the latest Bon Appetite. I've never had an authentic cheesesteak but these were pretty darn good!
  13. So which "typical and traditional" Americans are they getting to play - the ghosts of John Philips Sousa and Aaron Copeland?
  14. @glowlights, that's exactly why I didn't buy the theory either. I'm pretty sure that if an owl attacked me I would be screaming my head off. There's no way she would have remained silent while being attacked.
  15. The Italian wasn't able to pull off acting when she was speaking Italian. She was so wooden in her delivery.
  16. The demo has begun! The wall paper is almost all off and I removed the medicine cabinet. The new cabinet I ordered came this week and I was able to fit it in the recess after remove a couple of nails and sanding down about 1/4 inch off the opening (not installing it now, just wanted to confirm it fits). Next weekend I'm removing the vanity and toilet (after my Saturday class on removing/installing a toilet at Home Depot. I also decided to put baseboards in the bathroom as it is the only room that doesn't have them. So of course I bought a miter saw. I'm going to have to practice quite a bit to get the hang of it. Geometry and spatial relations are not my forte so trying to miter/cope the corners should be interesting!
  17. Burned my fajitas watching the last few minutes of the game. So worth it.
  18. I watched The Big Bang Job (season 3 episode 15) last night and there was another Parker/Hardison hint. The team prevented Damian Moreau from buying a bomb and in the process Parker and Hardison jump on the top of a train. As they get off, Parker says something about wanting pretzels that was clearly meant by Parker and clearly understood by Hardison to mean that Parker was ready to move things forward. Forgot all about that!
  19. I am seriously thinking of agreeing to this minus ketchup potato chips but adding a Nanaimo bar.
  20. This isn't strictly true crime, but I really enjoy Lore. It's more unexplained things/mysteries but some are crimes, it's quite good so I wanted to mention it.
  21. I agree, especially Sophie/Nate! There is a scene at the beginning of the episode where the team has to help Parker beat the Steranko system where Nate feeds Sophie a bite of something he's cooked - the banter and subtext is delightful. They had terrific chemistry together.
  22. I teach graduate students as an adjunct every couple of years and the students default to calling me doctor even though I tell them to call me by my first name and that I don't have a doctorate. Some call me "Professor" for the entire semester - and after, as sometimes run into them in the field.
  23. I don't think they were really together until the beginning of the last season when Parker announced they were dating.
