Back in January, there was a brouhaha here in Denver when girls were required to cover their heads on a World Religions class trip to a local mosque. As you might imagine, this was regarded by some as the first step towards Sharia Law in our schools. Oh the humanity.

OMG!  In my day women/girls were required to wear hats (or some head covering) to in Catholic churches.  If my non-Catholic friends went to church with me I always had something for them to wear (maybe just a tiny circular veil that sat on top of the head).  Sometimes the churches had little baskets near the entry way with these "doilies." What's the big deal with being sensitive and respectful to others' religions?

Doesn't Sherri have enough friends or CONNECTIONS that someone could have spared her sleeping on the floor of an airport?  Isn't she some star?

I'm not on Twitter but when someone here posts something of Sherri's I usually check it out.  Here's a recent post of hers,  "Tried2 put cash in my niece's checking but there's a money laundering law that prohibits putting cash in personal accts - no gas $$ 4U 2day."

Is this true?  Wouldn't there be some sort of limit on the amount of cash?  Sounds odd..................

Forget friends or connections at the airport, maybe she could just open up her big fat wallet and get a room for the night.  But  I'm thinking she really only had an hour in the airport, lol.

It is true that Chase Bank has a relatively new (2014) policy about  CASH deposits into someone else's account but there is no problem with depositing checks or even money orders or bank transfers (including online bill pay) into a checking account that is not yours.  So that was either exaggerated drama for Twitter (like the airport pics) or Sherri just being cheap, which actually also explains the airport pics.  Ha!

Yup. My sis needed food and I only had cash to deposit into her account and Chase denied me. I had to come back with a personal check.

Luckily I read about the Chase policy before I drove an hour and a half (nearest branch) to put money in my son's account.

I brought a bank check and it took awhile for it to be credited to his account (ugh)

(and the policy is for any amount of money-  grandparents are upset they can not deposit small amounts ($10 or $20) in their grandchildren's accounts)

Wait. She gave up an infant for adoption, and now that the kid is 17, she doesn't want money, she wants her daughter back??

Does she want to pay for college? I bet this woman never gave the kid a second thought until it was revealed that the baby was adopted by a celebrity. The kid is pretty much raised, and at 18, can choose what she wants to do. There is no point to bringing this up now, EXCEPT to ask for money.

Father's name is blanked out, but mommy's last name does not match her maiden name.  The single I can see is the plurality of birth.

Poor Chelsea... she wanted to meet her birth mother, Ro allows it, and SURPRISE!  Moneygrubber.

The photo of Ms Schilling with the Chelsea as infant?  She looks completely baked, in a hardcore way.

Exactly. Wonder how much The Enquirer paid her for the story? Poor Ro. When it rains it really pours. Ugh.

Rosie tweeted a pic of her sitting next to Nicolle on a flight to Miami.

Oh geez.  I saw that too Morbs.    I can't imagine being seated next to an ex-coworker from a job I quit because it was stressing me out -  although I didn't really ever see any tension between RO and NW.   I wonder if Nicolle cackles when she's not on camera too?   I think I'd rather sit next to a screaming baby than be trapped in a plane listening to that.   Ugh.

How awful that Chelsea's birth mother decided to go public at all but then doing it to trash the woman who gave Chelsea an amazing childhood is beyond anything I have words to describe.  And shame on that rag for exploiting a teenager's privacy for a buck.

I watched Inside Edition the other day and there was a story on Rosie and her daughter Chelsea. Apparently Chelsea has made contact with her birth mother and has been sending texts to her.

The birth mother is saying she never signed papers to give up her kid. There is a story about it in one of the gossip rags.

Chelsea looks just like her birth mom.

This is being discussed in the Former Hosts thread. And there's a link to the paper that the birth mom signed. She wants her daughter back? After 17 years? Bullshit, she's after money.

Barbara really needs to work for her mental well being, to feel relevant and fill to her time I guess. Kind of feel sorry for her. This is a job where she can be propped up in a chair, just read script off a TelePrompTer (as many retakes as needed to get it right) and show clips of her in her glory days covering scandals of the day.

New York Post article from today:

"Barbara Walters resisted using the word “retirement” when she left “The View” and here’s one reason why: She has a new series set to begin this October on the Investigation Discovery network.

The fast-growing ID network said Tuesday that Walters will present “American Scandal,” a series that looks back on well-known crimes where she worked on the stories initially.

In the new series, she’ll revisit cases involving Jean Harris, the former girls’ school headmistress convicted of the murder of her lover, and Mary Kay Letourneau, a suburban Seattle teacher convicted of raping a 12-year-old student.

Walters has committed to making six episodes of “American Scandal.”

She joins a list of broadcast news veterans like Paula Zahn, Tamron Hall, Chris Hansen and John Quinones who do work for ID."

Edited by CathInAZ

While I have no interest in seeing Barbara on my television ever again, I think I understand her. She's one of those type A personalities that sees true retirement as an effective death sentence, so she keeps going even if it means she just keeps recycling the same tired old stories ad nauseam. She's a shark…if she stops moving she'll die. Who wants to take bets on whether Geddie will be producing, riding her coattail to the bitter end?

  • Love 9

Huh, so that's where Paula Zahn went.  <snerk>

I completely agree about BW's inability to completely retire though I'd think she'd be able to keep herself pretty darned busy just hobnobbing, hanging out with Cindy Adams, Arianna Huffington et al and going to charity events and such in NYC.  I'd take her life in retirement in a heartbeat!

Hahaha!  Same ol' Babs - it's all about her and reminding people she used to be relevant.

I would bet that this was Geddie's idea.

Here's an article about Barbara and American Scandal: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/barbara-walters-returning-tv-host-american-scandal-article-1.2168359  I must know who chooses the pictures to accompany articles such as this!! The show is produced by ABC’s Lincoln Square Productions.

The article states Rosie Perez is leaving. Do we know this? LOL!

ETA: I just saw that in addition to this show, ID is adding another, "Death By Gossip". I can't tell you how much this amuses me.

Chase has all kinds of funky rules that rose their head around the same time last year that DOJ Operation Chokepoint started closing down "questionable" adult websites card processing and banking abilities - stuff generally linked to online gambling, pornography and the like, additionally payday loan companies..  But it's a "morality" issue at Chase.  When Chase started getting really aggressive about this (closing personal accounts of individuals involved)  - Wells Fargo and some other banks took out ads to tell adult businesses that they'd happily take their business.

I have a variety of experiences with adoption in my extended family.  One gave a child up for adoption, but I also have 17 adopted 2nd cousins - all of whom are family.

Some, but not the majority have chosen to look for birth family with the full support of all.  Some results turned out well, some did not - didn't matter, the cousins are still family in the truest, best way possible.

My heart does break for RO because I believe she loves Chelsea and wants the best for her.  I remember myself at 16, 17, 18 and I was - to be kind to myself - a teenager.  I think everyone hopes that everyone can hang in there until the teen gets just a bit older - doesn't take much sometimes - going to college can work miracles.

My family certainly couldn't afford boarding schools, but that life is very normal in the circles that RO travels in.

What a tragedy that all this is public, but based on the non coverage from all other sources, we can be glad the nat. observer is not respected.

  • Love 5

I feel badly for RO. And life can happen this way for people.

And with time even out again.

RO was treated poorly on this show, imo. Plus combined with her divorce and daughter's mother.....it took it's toll.

For the time being.

But I am proud for her to know her health is the most important issue here for herself and dealing with these issues.

I'd love to see RO again somewhere....and WG not at all again. What an ego-t.

What has Bitsy's panties in a twist this week ? -

http://www.newshounds.us/20150406_elisabeth_hasselbeck_stokes_outrage_over_divisive_white_privilege_bulletin_board

A college dorm puts up a bulletin board display informing students to "check their privilege"  and then has some essays and photos  about white privilege, male privilege, able-bodied privilege, heterosexual privilege.  Not a bad thing, on a college campus, to ask people to be more aware of diversity, and to be more inclusive.

But BITSY  thinks it's "divisive".

Elisabeth has only lived a life of privilege.  She has never known what it's like to not just coast through life simply because she is a non-poor white woman.  I remember years ago when she first started on the View and she was talking about how hard it was when she was between jobs and she had to rely on COBRA insurance for her health insurance.  That statement alone qualifies her for being privileged.  She will never ever get a clue about how real people live.

  • Love 12

Bitsy is completely incapable of seeing anything in a bigger context.

Like, WHITE PRIVILEGE - illustrated by a college campus where a fraternity celebrated in song how they would lynch any Blacks who tried to join.

MALE PRIVILEGE - look to campuses where women are raped.

HETEROSEXUAL PRIVILEGE- gay students being outed, bullied, sometimes to the point of suicide.

Bitsy is outraged by a bulletin board which brings awareness to these issues. Because the bulletin board made one student uncomfortable. A student who didn't understand what the board meant, and was too afraid to learn. God forbid that a COLLEGE challenge people to look past the surface and think about bigger issues.

From the NewsHounds post:

To Hasselbeck's leading question of whether Littler was "intimidated" by this, Littler, not surprisingly, said she was. Cuing the death threats, Littler blamed the dorm RA. Hasselbeck, who was obviously sourcing from its favorite right wing campus crusaders, Campus Reform, mentioned that this kind of nasty business started at the University of San Francisco which, unmentioned by Hasselbeck, is a Jesuit staffed Catholic college.

The plot thickened when Littler told Hasselbeck that her Facebook post was initially private but then Campus Reform "reached out" to her and took it viral which, she said, resulted in "cyber bullying" from those who criticized her whiteness.

Are we sensing a theme here with Bitsy and her outrage with campuses?  Every fucking one of these panties twisted stories are in association with Campus Reform, what a bunch of hateful right wing brats this group is.

There is no shaming in asking people to check their privilege, it's an exercise in understanding the social privileges that we each have juxtaposed against what others are not afforded.  The faux outrage and exploiting the naïveté of a clearly unworldly freshman from Appalachian State for heaven's sake, is nauseating!  By both over-privileged Bitsy and her band of privileged campus talibangelicals.

...stepping off soapbox

  • Love 6

Elisabeth and her ilk don't like colleges broadening peoples minds. They think they should exist simply so privileged white folks can network and find people like them so they can spend the rest of their lives continuing to be privileged white folk.  I truly believe the 1% don't want people to get an education to better themselves and have a career that allows them to not have to struggle to make ends meet.  They want people to have to struggle.  it makes it easier for them to control things.

Haha!  i honestly don't know but I'm guessing WHITE MALES are Faux's demographic so of course they going to find anything they can twist into an attack on that group.  This little girl missed the entire point  but someone at Faux was paying attention to college FB pages, lol.

Bitsy's expression looks like she is permanently constipated or in other words, like just about every other woman on that channel.   I wonder if that's botox or something?

It's so funny (t/m Sherri Shepard), Cosmocrush...I hadn't viewed the video and was about to respond that Bitsy has too many lines and wrinkles for it to be botox, BUT decided I really should watch it first before commenting.  You're absolutely correct:  Bitsy's eyebrows never move from their very fixed position, and there's not a forehead wrinkle to be seen.  Sure looks like leBits has added the botox along with the push-up bra - apparently age isn't being kind to her and gravity is taking its toll!

Anyone noticing Meredith Vieira's show segment:  'Hot Headlines'...a derivative of The View's 'Hot Topics'...?

I didn't think anybody but me was watching Meredith's show!  I fast forward through a lot of the games, but, she does know how to do an interview and she can be silly too. And real.  I guess the talk shows need something like hot topics, hot headlines, table talk, etc.

I guess the talk shows need something like hot topics, hot headlines, table talk, etc.

Sure they do but  the"Hot Topics" the last few years on the View, were pure stupidity, nothing researched & no intelligent conversation

I was at the airport store and saw my face in the midst of all these magazines! I fell over this lady's luggage I was screaming so loud!!!
