  1. I picked up on a tense vibe between Sharon and Marie - not so much with Sheryl, however. I am not a big fan of Sharon actually. When Sara was still on, it seemed that Sharon would lead with the commentary and I just wasn't nearly as interested in her opinions as I was with the rest of the hosts. She seems to have a dominating energy. I do enjoy Carrie Ann and Eve. It did seem that Marie wasn't as good as fit as others might be. One I think would be a great addition and is entertaining whenever she appears, IMO, is Carnie Wilson. If this show gives even more air time to Sharon, I will be watching it less. I do miss hearing Sara's point of view; she was articulate and thoughtful.
  2. I worry that the strife, encouraged by the producers as a ratings grab plus their glee when it goes viral, is taking a toll on Joy. Good heavens, I can't bear to watch anymore of it. Imagine having to live it! She's no spring chicken. It can't be good for her - it wouldn't be good for anyone, actually. I am so over shows that to try to cultivate such nonsense. Things are difficult enough these days.
  3. Just listened to this You Tube video...haven't heard him before. He's scathing in his critique of Meghan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz-tLwj4D2E&t=2s
  4. I worry about Joy's health. She's taken care of herself, but she's not young anymore and being the target of that kind of anger on live TV has got to be unbelievably stressful. I continue to be so annoyed at the producers because I believe they take delight in the fights going viral. I'm no fan of Barbara Walters, however I did admire her goals for the show...listening to varying points of view. It can be done with civility. I rarely watch it live anymore - not great for my health either.
  5. I sure loved this show at its inception, however my feelings are mixed now. I've read in various places about the commentary being scripted. Indeed, this book seems to confirm that, at least in part. I can only imagine the pressure experienced by the co-hosts at least in the latter years of it. I was never impressed with Barbara being an authentic personality. And, the recent disclosures about her are more than unflattering, aren't they! I did like that about Rosie, and still do about Joy and Sunny, and Nicole. My dream composition of gals for the show would be: Joy, Ana, Sara, Nicole and Sunny. But, these days too many shows are dependent upon contrived strife as a ratings grab. I guess they desire the squabbles go viral as a measure of relevance. How very superficial. I am looking forward to a juicy read of this book, which should be arriving at my doorstep shortly.
  6. Yes, if both parties adhere to the basics of civil discourse - good manners. Just recalling William F. Buckley and while he espoused a point of view very much counter to my own, I admired his intelligent, penetrating mind and found listening to him worth my time.
  7. I completely agree. As long as ratings climb, there will be no changes to the co hosts panel. I've watched this show from its inception. If Joy goes, so do I. I recall Barbara Walters commented that this was not a daytime 'Meet the Press' yet that seems to be exactly what has transpired. While I enjoy an intelligent TV option during the day, it's insulting to viewers to think that TPTB would promote cat fights as a ratings ploy. I did read somewhere that much more of this show is scripted than one might expect.
  8. Perhaps Meghan is on some form of anti-stress medication of late.
  9. I am so glad there is this thread to comment on Trading Spaces. I'm thrilled this show is back and taking great delight in watching some of the original episodes over again. I love the promo ad too...'the mother of all design shows'...lol, love how they are all posed, have actually tried to freeze frame it to view each of them precisely. Such fun.
  10. I had hoped to weigh in after Meghan came unglued about Joy's birthday greeting to Melania. Meghan's barely concealed rage just eclipses any comment she makes in my experience. I surely hope that she is eased out soon; perhaps upon her father's passing. She reminds me of Reagan's daughter, Maureen, who also seemed unable to establish herself and define her own identity. Anyone else recall her failed Senate bid in CA? I greatly miss Nicole Wallace, however she seems to have found a powerful niche at MSNBC now. If Ana is provided an opportunity to replace Meghan, I think The View will have achieved a pretty effective balance which would certainly appeal to me, a viewer who has hung in with this show since it's inception. Thank goodness Joy came back. I'd welcome the return of Lisa Ling too!
  11. This was just such a clumsy response by Shonda to exit Patrick. Not only do I feel like deleting this unwatched episode from my DVR, I am quite inclined to delete the series as well. And, I agree with the criticism of Scandal as well. It seems like the plot development has been focused on global espionage matters instead of domestic difficulties. I enjoyed the fine acting of the fellow who plays the Chief of Staff...and the power plays in the oval office. I don't tune in to spy thriller shows. I guess I am still in withdrawal from The West Wing. Thank goodness for Masterpiece Theater to satisfy my appetite for well crafted drama.
  12. I was such a faithful fan of The View, since its inception...but when Rosie O left that just about did it for me. And, I'll absolutely be gone if Monica Lewinsky gets the gig, OMG! Not sure where this next comment goes...so I'll share it here, and I've posted it in the retired co-hosts thread too... Anyone noticing Meredith Vieira's show segment: 'Hot Headlines'...a derivative of The View's 'Hot Topics'...? Interesting.
