I know a former correctional officer at the prison camp Englewood Colorado. I remember them telling me some people just cannot function in normal society. I asked if that meant they were institutionalized? And they said not necessarily, that there was a study they did at the prison that said some people are just never meant for normal society. And one of the biggest indicators of this is when someone will constantly say they don't want to be told what to do. As adults were told what to do every day. By our jobs, our laws we are governed by, our kids, spouses, teachers etc.  We all function by these laws. But there are some people that just cannot function this way. Matt and Michael are prime examples of this. I don't think that they're necessarily institutionalized as much as they just can't function normally in a society. They will be right back in prison. If they're not already.  It's shocking to watch, but makes me sad that our prisons do not rehabilitate, only punish. Matt's attitude after only being home 10 minutes was abhorrent, infantile, and frankly very disturbing. 

Scott and Tracie's hotel scene was just a slight step up from porn. What the actual hell? Did ANYONE need to see her underwear?  Just like they showed Caitlyn stripping down in her bra on the first episode, it was just a little bit too much for me.   I'm not body shaming, I'm just shocked at how much skin the women expose. I'm also shocked that they leave their microphones on and we can hear the couples making love.  Johnna and Garret in the first season too, its was unsettling. And I'm no prude. 

Why isn't this show 2 hours? And WHERE is my trailer trash queen Angela with the smoker's hack voice? That's my girl! Been DYING to see her and her man finally.

Wow, Marcelino really showed his ass didn't he? I understand his concern for her being around ex cons, but find a better way. 

Clint, bless your heart. She is a piece of work. Also, I was wrong last week. The black elastic on her leg was the mic pack. Thanks to whoever pointed that out last week. 

Would love it if Sarah just drove to NY by herself. Let his friends bring him.

Lizzie should have cut Scott's hair shorter on top, and should have WASHED that greasy, floppy mess. He did look slightly better with the goatee, I guess. Again with the porn movie slurpy kissing, ew. 

Matt makes Kaitlyn look like the soul of logic and restraint. If she wanted a rule-follower, though, why on earth did she think she'd find one in a prison?

Clint's weird performance in the hallway trying to gin himself up to propose was, well, weird. I love the 'fancy' restaurant he took her to. I also love the compare/contrast between Tracie's hooker dress (talk about visible panty line) and Clint's dragging-on-the-floor jeans and Mom-gave-me-this-for-Christmas L.L.Bean sweater.

WHY is Mike 'a lady's man'? He has no chin and a rapidly-ebbing hairline. His mom seems to be a real piece of work, too, with her 'eh, he just plows through the girls, it is what it is' attitude. Poor, dumb Sarah- I just hope she learns something eventually. And I hope Megan shuts him down when she finally meets him (yeah, I know that's not going to happen). Side note: Mike's little sis's boyfriend was really cute and no, Mike, of course he has no intention of sleeping with sis.

I couldn't believe it when the end credits began rolling-it seemed like the show was just getting going!

I found the restaurant setting odd too. He insisted on taking her to the fanciest place, yet it looked like a truck stop diner. No offense to the facility itself. And her dress, omg, she looked like a dirty pirate hooker. Did she at least bathe before attacking Clint in the hotel?

I'm weirdly rooting for Clint and The Most Beautiful Woman He's Laid His Eyes On. They are sort of a perfect match. Her outfit was awful but what was up with his giant, baggy jeans? He could barely walk in them. I would never want to know them or even run into them in real life but their silly enthusiasm made me smile a little.

Sarah's accent was bad. How does everyone ignore it?  It will be interesting to see if Michael's victim act will work on Megan. I'll bet yes. As long as he has working parts, she's cashing in her V card.

Brittany's ex cellie seemed nice. I would like to have had her talk about her transition to freedom instead of reminiscing about lockup loaf.

On another LAL blog, someone posted that Tracie has a nice body. What show are they watching??!! Yes, I read she has kids but they were taken away from her years ago due to her drug use. I cannot remember if she has 2 or 3 kids. That dress could not have been any worse, IMO. Everything about it was just wrong, from the zebra cake print to the length (or lack thereof) or the cut (very unflattering). Lizzie and Tracie both don't understand they do not need to bare their boobs every second of every episode.

I believe I can actually SMELL these people through the tv. And it reeks.

The "classy" restaurant scene and proposal by Clint seemed so fake to me, like bad actors.   Tracie needs a mirror and some self awareness.   That dress and underwear was a good two sizes too small.    I really didn't need to hear them having sex. 

Sarah and her blackcent,  I hope she hears how stupid she sounds when she watches this.     If Michael likes Meghan better why doesn't he just come clean and tell Sarah?  Does he really think he's going to get away with this ?  Yea they'll never watch the show Michael, good plan.

You literally took the words out of my mouth with this entire post. As far as Angela, this is speculation....but I believe Tony got out, was done with her now that he is a free man, and makes up some bullshit to get rid of her instead of flat out telling her to get lost; all while she is trying on wedding dresses (as seen in the preview). I cannot wait to see that dumpster fire!

 RE: Clint, it seems to me that he either had a traumatic brain injury or has a mild intellectual disability. As a mother of a 16-year-old son with an ID, it makes me sad that the show would exploit Clint if that were the case...same if it was a TBI. (Yet, I keep on watching!) Then again, Clint's ex-wife seems to be what we parents of kids with special needs would call "typically developing", so it's a real head-scratcher. Maybe it's just the way his Mom babies him? Regardless, I hope to hell Tracie isn't gonna break his heart, but I seem to remember from the preview of this season that she'll do exactly that. Again, I can't get too high and mighty when I DVR and watch the show like it's my job!

  Ditto on Sarah suddenly using the "blaccent". Cringe!

  I echo the posters asking where Angela is...she's my favorite! I have a soft spot for those heavy smokers with hearts of gold. And we all know she's gonna get her heart broken...and don't really want to see it. But we want to at least see her a few minutes per episode, right?

   Ditto also on having to watch the slurpy kissing and hear these people having sex. Ew!

   Ditto again on being confused as to why Michael is considered to be such a ladies' man. Huh?  Kinda like Jay on "90-Day Fiance"---too skinny, wayyy too childish, and not bad-looking, but certainly no Adonis.

I will tell you my jail story - I was friends with, no dating just friends, a guy for years and years.  I knew his family, his mother had all boys and we would cook together etc.  I was never interested in him but merely good friends.  He was caught dealing drugs because a person he gave a little to was caught and turned on him and then that person got custody of my friends child and then dumped her in foster care and my friends mother got custody of her.  Pretty messed up right?  Anyways he was sent up for 10 years and did 5.  I would take calls from him, very expensive.  He gave my name address and phone to a pedophile.  AWESOME!  I was already done with this "friend".  He gets out, I don't know because I broke off contact, shows up at my house.  I was sleeping and he banged on my door and I saw it was him and answered he ushers me outside in my jammies, no bra and bed head.  In my driveway is a lady in the car and he points to me and says, "See she is not that good looking, you have nothing to worry about".  Mortifying!  I didn't even like him.  I was already with my bf/partner and father of my son.

Within 3 years this ex-con was dead.  Wow!  To this day I have no idea how he died.  I am curious if his con-seeking girlfriend killed him or something.  That would be fitting.

I remember that every time I say to myself that this shit is made up.

Oh, boy. This show. Where to start?

Did anyone else notice the hair hanging off the forkful of $13 mac & cheese when Clint was complaining about only wanting mac & cheese and not all of the extra stuff—the irony being that he was complaining about the bacon or whatever and didn’t even see the long hair. Ha!  Dear lord, we did NOT need to see Tracie wearing her $350 lingerie ensemble—but it got soooo much worse with the sex noises. Gaaaah!! I thought Clint was already prepared for the wedding the very next day but Tracie didn’t even know this is happening?? Or maybe when he kept going on about getting married tomorrow, he just meant engaged. Guess we’ll find out next week.

As mentioned several times already, very strange with Sarah’s “cash me outside” code-switching only when talking directly to Michael. Stark contrast to his real Queen Megan. Sad that Michael’s family lives in Flint, MI. They had a nice house, so I didn’t understand why he thought he had to carjack to “provide” for his family, but I guess now these unfortunate people in Flint can’t even sell their houses

Caitlyn is still going on about her stomach full of babies, but now adds that she thinks there’s 12 babies in her stomach and she’ll be like octomom. Or, erm, octomom times 1.5.

Scott’s makeover was...something. At first I thought, wow, he looks 20 years younger, but then the more you looked at him, the more the facade started cracking before your eyes, such as the ever-toppling combover that he needed to constantly re-comb-over. 

Brittany, please run off with your BFF. It was very sad that she has NO family to turn to and seemed trapped with Marcellino. I’m not sure how parole works but I think you need to be turned over into the care of someone to vouch for your whereabouts? Is Marcellino this person? Can her friend not be that person because she’s also an ex-convict? I feel so badly for this girl. But I’m loving that last week she told us she’s bisexual and this week we find out about the love of her life ex-girlfriend that she’s planning on reconnecting with, so I can’t wait until she “pulls a Michael” and we’ll have some lady’s picture sliding ol creepy Marcellino’s picture off screen.

Whoa, that's kinda elitist. If all you can usually afford is McD's, Applebee's is going to seem 'fancy'. That doesn't make you 'garbage people'. That said, I would have no qualms about describing Tracie as 'trashy'.

Anyway, I was thinking (ha!) about Matt's missing tooth and the visit to the dentist with Kaitlyn. Did I understand correctly that the prison dentist refused to do a root canal and instead extracted an otherwise healthy tooth? That seems mal-practice-y, no? Like a prison doctor who won't treat your ingrown toenail but decides to just amputate your toe? And why didn't this dentist suggest to these 2 that he have a bridge made instead? Cheaper, and if it's good enough for Scott, it should be good enough for Matt!

I've never seen a human being so excited just to have his head touched. That was truly disturbing.

That being said, he's any stylist nightmare, just sitting there looking waaaay to happy just to get a shampoo. Glad Lizzie did so some poor salon worker wouldn't have to worry about wiping down the chair with bleach afterwards.

I'm not a fan of the Grizzly Adams look myself so he did look better although you can see more of his face now.

That reminds me of a woman I knew of who used to cover up her dark tooth in the front with an unpainted Lee Press-On Nail. Not sure it would work for a missing tooth although it's worth a try.

The free and easy rapport she had with her female friend was such a sharp contrast to the angry, judgy-pants Marcellino! I was hoping for the same thing. 

It seems to me that if both women have had crimes that are substance abuse related, and they can establish a strong recovery network together, going to meetings, etc.

Never thought I would root for duplicity, but I hope that Brittany does pull a Michael. Not sure how I would feel about seeing and/or hearing it though.

Yes he is correct.  At least in federal prison most of them just extract the tooth. There are some prisons that will help save the tooth, but most often than not the common practice is  just to extract them. The healthcare is abhorrent. And dental care is pretty much non existent. I have a loved one in Federal Prison. He won't go to the dentist with a toothache, they will just pull it.

I had to make that extraction choice too. I've never been in jail/prison and am definitely ABOVE the poverty level, but I couldn't afford the implant and/or crown (I don't recall what was suggested).

Well, I'm fortunate to have pretty much perfect teeth, so I don't have much knowledge about this. I did just google 'root canal vs. tooth extraction' and it seems there are a lot of variables that could play into the dentist's decision. If Matt's tooth was super infected, it might have been medically impossible to do a root canal- thus the extraction.

Maybe it’s because I’m middle-aged, so I’m not expecting these former inmates to look like Instagram models. I think they all look like semi-attractive, normal women. Yes, they have gained a bit since they went in, but I really can’t mock their appearance too much. If they were put in dresses that fit (Lizzie and Tracy) they would look fine. 

I’d like to know the full story on Scott, because I’m pretty sure he’s had a long road of substance abuse himself. Especially how his son said he always needs to look after him because he doesn’t make the right decisions.

I definitely dont get the allure with Plig but I guess hes a smooth talker? I got the vibe from mom that she's given up trying to make him be decent. Just a guess.

Scott and Tracie's hotel scene was just a slight step up from porn. What the actual hell? Did ANYONE need to see her underwear?  Just like they showed Caitlyn stripping down in her bra on the first episode, it was just a little bit too much for me.   I'm not body shaming, I'm just shocked at how much skin the women expose. I'm also shocked that they leave their microphones on and we can hear the couples making love.  Johnna and Garret in the first season too, its was unsettling. And I'm no prude. 

Why isn't this show 2 hours? And WHERE is my trailer trash queen Angela with the smoker's hack voice? That's my girl! Been DYING to see her and her man finally. 

Seeing Clint shirtless was pretty gruesome.  Then I was thinking how uncomfortable it would be to wear that oversized, misshapen, stretched-out-in-the-laundry sweater over bare skin.

Matt makes Kaitlyn look like the soul of logic and restraint. If she wanted a rule-follower, though, why on earth did she think she'd find one in a prison?

Clint's weird performance in the hallway trying to gin himself up to propose was, well, weird. I love the 'fancy' restaurant he took her to. I also love the compare/contrast between Tracie's hooker dress (talk about visible panty line) and Clint's dragging-on-the-floor jeans and Mom-gave-me-this-for-Christmas L.L.Bean sweater.

I thought Lizzie was surprisingly skilled during the makeover and got pretty good results. Huge improvement. I would have been happy with that result if he'd gone to Supercuts.

Marcellino is not just a control freak but a real asshole. I looked up the restaurant where they had brunch by the water, and it's in quite a nice area of Vegas. If Brittany's old cellmate was telling the truth about living down the street, then she's doing OK. I wish Brittany would just ask to sleep on her couch.

Anyway, I was thinking (ha!) about Matt's missing tooth and the visit to the dentist with Kaitlyn. Did I understand correctly that the prison dentist refused to do a root canal and instead extracted an otherwise healthy tooth? That seems mal-practice-y, no? Like a prison doctor who won't treat your ingrown toenail but decides to just amputate your toe? And why didn't this dentist suggest to these 2 that he have a bridge made instead? Cheaper, and if it's good enough for Scott, it should be good enough for Matt!

The guy took her to a salon and bought lingerie from a dedicated lingerie store.  Not a Great Cuts and Target.  Seemingly his benchmark for fancy was actually something fancy.  And he ended up at a very casual restaurant that I'm sure is very tasty, but not fancy.  

And they aren't garbage people for where they ate, it's for most everything else about their intelligence and decision making abilities.

 

And going with the cheaper alternative is not malpractice.  If it needed a root canal, it wasn't a healthy tooth.  Yank that puppy.  But I do agree with you about a bridge.  There are other options besides an implant.  Probably discussed, but edited out for drama.

Scott looks just like Bucky beaver!  With his ugly, long hair and bushy face hair it gave those toofers some relief!  But with Lizzies do over I can't look at anything but those two big front teeth!
