Speculation that SA's social media presence contributed to his being cast as Casey in TMNT 2...

'Arrow' Star Joins 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2,' Brings His 3M Facebook Friends

I’m not saying Stephen Amell got cast as Casey Jones because his Facebook page has 3.4 million “likes”, his Instagram account has 800,000 followers, and he has 782,000 Twitter followers (he apparently had terrific chemistry with Megan Fox). But if you have to choose between two capable actors for a role, you might tend to go with the one with the massive social media following and who uses that following to sell the heck out of his or her would-be products. We are still very early in terms of determining to what extent stars with copious social media “fans” can translate that online fandom into ticket sales and ratings.

Barrowman got his start in musical theatre in London. He was a pretty big deal in the West End for like 20 years before he ever got on Doctor Who.

Bit of a flashback but the first time I saw John Barrowman in any role was his role as a Nazi in The Producers.  He appears around 0:42 and he's a really good singer!

SA on the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II in NYC:

Video 1

For some reason I can´t watch the first video. Instead I got an error message: "The content of this video cannot be reproduced." :-( Something isn´t functioning. Is there any YouTube (or other) link to this content? I´m so curious!

A first comment, based on the pics: Is Casey Jones going to have SHORT hair? In the comics, his hair is long. However, I prefer SA with short hair. It´s bad enough to see the "island wig" week after week in the Arrow flashbacks!

Confirmed: Torchwood audio adventures in production
News Rob Leane 5 May 2015 - 08:20
http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/torchwood/33630/confirmed-torchwood-audio-adventures-in-production

Since John Barrowman hinted at some Torchwood radio plays back in January, we’ve been awaiting some official confirmation. Today, it finally came, in the shape of an announcement from Doctor Who audio adventure specialists Big Finish.

They’ve confirmed a series of six audio productions, led by John Barrowman as Captain Jack. We’re told by Blogtor Who that these audio dramas ‘will each focus on different members of the Torchwood team, exploring the impact that a mysterious event has on them.’

The first of these character studies will centre on Captain Jack, will be titled The Conspiracy, written by David Llewellyn, and will be released in September 2015.

Katie Cassidy is filming a new movie:

Miles Fisher Set To Topline ‘The Wolves At The Door’ At New Line

Miles Fisher has joined the cast of New Line’s upcoming period thriller The Wolves At The Door. Set in 1969, the film follows four friends spending a night in a posh Los Angeles mansion, who find themselves beset by a quartet of deadly killers. Fisher will star opposite Arrow actress Katie Cassidy. The Wolves At The Door is directed by frequent James Wan-cinematographer John Leonetti, from a script by Gary Dauberman. Peter Safran is producing. Shooting is scheduled from mid-May to late June in Los Angeles.

Fisher’s most recent film is the 2014 satirical comedy Believe Me; he is currently appearing in a recurring role on the FXX sitcom Man Seeking Woman. Managed by Steve Fisher at Underground Films & Management, Fisher is represented by Paradigm Talent Agency.

Isn't that what Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is?

This is what the post says:

Really excited. Just signed onto a new movie basically to make my daughter happy. So cool. Details to come...

I don't think it is TMNT since he's already filming it so it really wouldn't be a new signed role, and this sounds like he just landed it.

There's several options coming out in 2017 and 2018 that I think could be it, like Smurfs 3, Lego 2, Madagascar 4, How to Train a dragon 3. All of these sound like something that could work with Stephen current status, he's not an A or B list so no way will he get a lead in a brand new children movie (considering his past roles too), but a lead or side role in a sequel? Smurfs 3 sounds like the best option since I believe NPH publicly said he will not be returning to that franchise and usually you tend to see B/C list actors replace the big stars in sequels (there are several examples all of which sunk at the box office I believe.., but Lego 2 is also an option. both would fit into "movies you would let your under 5 year old child to watch"

I would pay money to see him in the new Harry Potter "Fantastic Beasts..." but I don't think that is the project.

It can also be a DC comics related animation movie, but there is no scheduled one I could fine. the next one is "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" but it is due to be out in July of this year. could be a yet to be announced movie.

Some people think it's for Finding Nemo 2. That would be huge.

It could be... but it's due next year and it's an animated movie, don't they usually do the voices at least a year before the movie is even released? I mean most animated I know usually base the characters movement upon the ones the actor does in the studio, isn't it?

Well, he's done a bit of animated voice over so he'd at least come with experience.  If he did a live action movie like the Smurfs 3, I could see why he'd firmly label it ahead of time as FOR MY DAUGHTER.  It could totally flop and no one would hold it against him.   I think I'd have to see that even if I had to watch cringing through my fingers.

I thought Jackson turned into a regular wolf at the end? Either way I'll still watch, I didn't mind season 4 it wasn't as good as season 3 but I enjoyed it. That's probably because I binge watched season 1-3 while 4 was airing, then caught up and watched the finale live. It was hard for me to get past season 1 that one was the worst imo. The Scott/Alison romance was a NyQuil romance as one of the recappers here called it. I actually fast forwarded some of their scenes because I couldn't handle it. The other characters making fun of Scott is what got me to keep watching.

Oh, I totally agree on Scott/Alison but I loved Alison herself after the break-up and I think the show has never quite recovered after losing her. I binged 1-2 and watched seasons 3 and 4 live, I loved 3B the most but Alison's death was hard to take in. And now there is so much unnecessary stuff like the new boring guy that I just can't see any place for Jackson. Plus, he really, really bugged me. Like, I wanted to kill him after the first few episodes and it never went away. I didn't find him likable in the least and I think I'll always have a tiny bit of dislike for CH simply because of that role (plus, I don't think he's a good actor anyway).

After watching this video I Googled Stephen's current pictures seriously thinking there had to be some subtle cosmetic surgery done to change him from this guy that resembles that terrible douchey picture of him in that flashback that Felicity called cute.  I was thinking the nose but in a side by side comparison I see nothing.  It's just the gift of maturity.  I have a feeling he's one of these guys that is just going to get better looking as he ages.

It's more than just the stubble too in my opinion.  It reminds me of David Boreanaz.  Back in his Angel days I did not see the attraction but I saw it big time a few years later when he moved on to Bones.

As for the singing...it's just more proof we need a massive crossover involving the Music Meister.

I was thinking more along the lines of George Clooney. If you've ever seen pics of him the 80's up until 1992/3.. he looks so young and bland, and than bahm!! Wow!, and he seriously only got better as he aged... Amell, like Clooney, is apparently like a bottle of fine wine..

Has he stopped filming TMNT already? Of everything going on in that movie the thing I'm most surprised about is the fact that they managed to snag Laura Linney! How did they get her and why did she agree to be in that mess?

KC's new movie Wolves at the Door actually sounds fun. Particularly since Elizabeth Henstrige from Agents of Shield is apparently going to be in it too!
