Who knew you break down in the parking lot?! Does it make you feel better to know that your child REALLY IS fine within 5 minutes after you leave?

Haha! For the most part, most kids are just fine after their parent leaves. We know that. It's just the transition from "my baby" to "my child" that makes us weepy in the parking lot. I hope that makes sense.

My youngest was not ok though. He was in full-on meltdown mode. It was terrible. I tried to leave but he just got worse, to the point we had to go back home and start all over again. The whole time I was in the background, I was with his guidance counselor too. She and I handled it the best way we could think of. It took a few hours and I left when there was just about an hour left in the school day. Not gonna lie, I went home broke down, drank a beer, and took a quick nap. I was exhausted.

(This is not normal for most children. My son was significantly burned as a toddler and after 18 days in 3 different hospitals, in two states, I was his only caregiver at home. His dad worked out of town so it was just me, raising three kids, and suddenly becoming a nurse/physical therapist/nutrionist, etc. When he had a check up, we drove to the airport to catch a plane to doctor's office. Or had to drive 3 hours to our state's Shriner's Hospital for care. We were very attached to each other by the time school came into play. Hindsight is 20/20 and knowing what I know now that he is 14? I would have made a few different decisions when he was a toddler. But most parents probably feel that way, too)

Once again, Larry (Ryan's dad) is bringing the sexy older man look to the show.  As always, I seem to find his wise and sage advice sooo attractive. Lucky Jen.

Hey guys,Teen Mom is almost over and I am wondering which awful reality show I will watch next for the sole purposes of coming here to make fun of it afterwards with y'all. Any new 16 and Pregnant,Teen Mom 2, Real World or Challenges coming up? How about Big Brother? Anything?

Well now that the Duggars digging themselves in a whole deeper than reality cameras can reach, I've been thinking maybe 90 Day Fianace? Marriage Boot Camp perhaps.

I like watching dumb kids though so I'm not sure what will give me my Teen Mom fix.

I saw somewhere that some of you recently joined Twitter to follow some of these yahoos. I want to suggest downloading Tweetdeck to your computers. https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/ Getting started https://support.twitter.com/articles/20169620?lang=en  There are other apps but this is the one I use and am familiar with. Here's why I suggest it:

Tweetdeck has columns to organize your incoming tweets. There are 4 to start, Home, Activity, Notifications and Messages. When anyone you follow posts a new message or retweets someone else's tweet, it shows up in Home. I have mine set to send a  pop-up in the corner when a new message appears, so since I follow breaking news, along with friends, a little box appears showing the message. While typing this, I just received a pop-up that the World Trade Center One seems to be on fire, and was able to jump to the news (which isn't yet showing anything). When someone "likes" a post, or follows someone new, it shows up under Activity but doesn't send a pop-up. If you follow someone and they follow you back, you can send direct messages which appear in Messages, and Notifications show a notification when someone likes your tweets. They also don't show up under home, nor send notifications in pop-ups.

But the best part, to me, is that you can create lists and add users to those lists without following them, so that it doesn't show up on your Home timeline, or send pop-ups. I have lists for NFL, NHL, and just created one for the current contestants on The Amazing Race. I only follow the teams, players, reporters that I want to on the list, and can monitor the games I don't get to watch as they are playing. I've decided to only watch the TAR timeline during the show, because reading the tweets over the last few days has made me dislike too many of them. I'm also not the target demographic for a lot of them, so I'm hoping their tweets during the show are about the show, if not, I will remove them from the lists. You can also create a list for the hashtags, but it seems like there are 100 posts a minute and I find it too hard to follow, so I just use the Twitter main page for that.

I scroll the lists a few times a day when I'm working, and if anything is going on, I can click on the tweet and open that thread to see the responses, or click on the names and go to the twitter user page and follow along there. I don't follow any of the Teen Mom's, just read the articles about it after it is posted here.

Additional sidenote: I follow a few comedians on Twitter. Some other comedians who are friends with the ones I follow went through their follows and followed those people, including me. It was weird the first time I saw a bunch of people following me, but I'm sure they use lists too. They want to be followed back. I checked out their accounts, and if I liked them, I followed them, too. If they were just posting ads, or didn't find them funny, I didn't. They seem to make more money per ad tweet depending on their amount of followers. One of the more annoying thing, to me, is that when they follow a bunch of people at once, it takes over the Activity column. I have a friend who likes cat photos and another who is always finding old photos and liking them, and they show up in the Activity column, but were getting lost in all of the "following" tweets. I had to unfollow a few people while they were on a following kick.

I hope it's OK to put this here. I have been watching the first season of 16 and Pregnant and just saw Whitney's, I don't remember her from the first time around. MTV missed a gold mine not choosing this one for Teen Mom. She and her mom were pregnant at the same time and they all lived in grandma's trailer, grandma who spent all of her money gambling down at the 7-11. At one point Whitney is looking for something to wear to her baby shower, she pulls a shirt off the floor and wears that. In the next scene grandma is wearing the same shirt as shes gambling with her friend at the 7-11.

The entire family is white trash gold. I wish they'd chosen her instead of one of the others.

Link to comment

Oh, I didn't know that. That's too bad, I would have loved to see more of her and her family. I never followed any of the 16 and Pregnant girls except for the ones chosen for Teen Mom. That's interesting, I wonder why they turned it down, they seemed like they were really, really hurting for money.

Thanks for the info Katt.

Wasn't Ebony the other one in the original 16&P crew? She turned into quite a trainwreck also, even without Teen Mom paying her.

Whitney Purvis is a mess too. I think they have two kids now. At one point she was arrested for shoplifting a pregnancy test, and in September she was arrested on felony charges for trying to break into baby daddy's house and then hitting him with a metal broom.

I remember reading that there was animal and human feces smeared on the walls and floors in Ebony's house. That's beyond just being messy, that's disgusting. I can't stand a dirty house, I don't know how anybody can live in filth, I can't even live with clutter.

After watching this series for years, having to watch Tyler pretend-play "world's best husband/father" while Catelynn goes to rehab, I think I'm finally ready to end my relationship with this series.

I read it on "The Ashley", and one of Matt's baby mamas (allegedly) commented under the article that he & Amber were in her area (Cape Cod) and made no effort to see the child. Her name was posted as Kelli Nunn.
My guess is Amber's "storyline" will revolve around her not wanting to talk about anything.

No, production will have Gary bring it up in front of the camera.  Then Amber's story line will about what a horrible person Gary is for daring to mention Matt's fifty million ignored children.  Then she will talk about how awesome Matt is, because he takes care of everything (which is the way con men get access to your finances) so Amber can sleep till noon every day.

And Amber's brain donor "fans" (including Dr Derp at the end of the season) will insist she's an inspiration and has turned her life around.

This is very random about the show as of late, so I thought best for small talk. So.. tonight they did a "Being Butch" special and last week they did a "Being Barb" special. I hope this means we are getting a "Being Jen and Larry" special, because Ryan's parents are pretty cool. Hell, I think I would enjoy a "Being Micheal" special just for the hell of it.

I know how most of us feel about Dr. Drew (and I hesitate to put the "Dr." in front of his name) but I just had my last straw with him. Don't know if you guys are keeping up with the kratom ban that the DEA is making a Schedule 1 drug on the 30th, but Drew just spoke out about it, spewing misinformation and calling it "just another opiate." It's not an opiate (not structurally), has no street or recreational value, and has only been linked to one death (and that person had other substances in their body at the time). I am a big kratom advocate. I have a rare, progressive, and ultimately terminal condition and while it has no cure, we are able to treat some of the symptoms-pain being the worst. I've been on every single opioid out there and they caused side effects worse than the symptoms they were meant to manage. I've been on kratom for awhile now and it's given me my life back. I've never felt "high" and it's the only thing I've used that has helped with the pain AND given me a burst of energy. I would compare it to something like valerian tea with a shot of caffine-relaxes you and eases the pain while making you want to get out and do stuff. Although other celebrities have spoken out about it in support, and we have more than 50 Congressman on board with helping us change the ban. there's Dr. Drew...opening his mouth. And he'd never even heard of it until recently. A lot of people use it for heroin withdrawals and to get off the hard stuff. (You can use the kratom to taper down from other substances and then give up the kratom, since there isn't really a withdrawal for IT.) Seems like, given his profession, it's something he should be on board with.

Anyway. Grrr. Sorry for that soapbox. I am just so angry at him. I still haven't forgiven him for the ass kissing he gives the teen moms.

It is infuriating that the DEA is banning this.  I am absolutely sure the drug companies are somehow paying for this ban.  They are worried about losing customers.  I usually like Dr. Drew (usually...) but the fact that he would be against this is really weird.  I thought he was so worried about all of the prescription drug users - this is something that can help them.  I wonder what is going to happen, it does look like the ban will go through.

Officially, we all have to find something else to use which means back to the doctors for those of us with medical conditions it was treating. Unofficially...

I worry about the heavy drug users. MANY people have used kratom to kick things like heroin habits. I worry about those folks.

In addition to helping with the EDS pain, it has also helped with the depression and anxiety that go along with a chronic and progressive illness. It has helped where things like valium and xanax have not. I hate that. Nobody cared about kratom until people started talking about it. It's flown under the radar for years. Now that it's gaining in popularity, someone is afraid they're not getting their part of the cut.

What a bunch of bull... if he did a minimal research on kratom he wouldn't be able to say that krap. But we know he doesn't even watch the show but keeps being the host of reunion. He has no clue about anything. Addiction specialist my ass. If he wanted to help he would fight to keep kratom legal. How many people died of opiate overdose versus kratom "overdose". Which I can't call overdose because those people had other drugs in their system when they died. Its ridiculous. I agree that big pharma wants to keep it out of our reach so they can stuff their pockets selling real and legal poison. Look how many people dies because of alcohol and cigarettes yet they are readily available. No one suggests that those things are put on schedule I. WTF is wrong with people? I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic pain 10 years ago. Kept working until I was missing so much work that they would fire me.  But the pain was unbearable which brought on severe depression. Doctors pushed for me to try opiates so after I quit I finally gave in. Now I get 120 pills of hydrocodone and fentanyl patches every 3 days every month(besides other 10 medications)  I was so bad I just wanted to kill myself for about 5 years. Only didn't because I'm coward. The opiates don't stop the pain completely.  But they help some. When I read about kratom I immediately ordered some despite it being quite expensive and I have absolutely no income for the past 6 years. My husband has everything on his shoulders. The 6 days I tried it I didn't have to take any hydrocodone, otherwise I have to take 4 and on bad days even more. I couldn't believe it.  You don't get high from it but I don't get any high from opioids either. Now I'm gonna try to not use the fentanyl patch and see how that works. But so far I only see positive experiences with kratom. I even signed petition and emailed someone in government that I read yesterday in Washington post that he wants to fight the opioid problem, he is at USDA Secretary of Agriculture whose mom was drug addict. There was article about how he wants to fight this but im not sure he knows about kratom. So I emailed him LOL you never know from where the help will come... I really don't want to give up hope.

I also suffer from chronic pain and I have gone through a few opiates trying to find the right one.  A friend was raving about kratom - how it is a way to deal with chronic pain without the high.  That it helps people feel "normal," and able to function and live their lives.  That is all I want!  I am so upset that I am late to finding all of this out.  This is exactly what I had been hoping existed.  And I especially feel terrible for you - it is so awful to find something that works, and then to have it ripped away.  I wonder if there will end up being a black market for it.

Hope this is all allowed to be discussed here!

I just found this in comments on one of the articles, specifically the bottom is very interesting. Wonder how much "donations" DEA got from maker of Olicedirine...

jqean hour ago

- The DEA's speculation of the type of market the doses are intended for are just that - speculation. The "recreational" market for kratom is very small because kratom does not produce a noticeable high. It is similar to coffee at low doses and "opioid-like" at higher doses only in the sense that it is a sense of complacency - NOT the euphoria from stronger opioids.
- Kratom was not the only substance found in 14 of the 15 deaths. The other was O-desmethyltramadol, which is the metabolized form of Tramadol, a synthetic opiate and known killer. The 15th death had a pre-existing condition. Remember this is with over 12 million doses intended for (as the DEA puts it) the recreational market. Mouthwash killed 2 people in 2014 alone according to Poison Control Centers.
- Nearly every article published that has interviewed the scientific community has found that researchers are baffled as to why the DEA would ban this substance.

Things to keep in mind:
- 3 US Patents for kratom exist - 2 by Glaxo Smith Kline and 1 by the University of Mississippi (funded in part by the NIH). The University patent SPECIFICALLY lists its properties in assisting with addiction treatment.
- PZMZ21 and oliceridine are two kratom-like "opioid replacement" drugs currently in trials. In February 2016, the FDA granted "Breakthough Therapy" status to Oliceridine. In March 2016, Chuck Rosenberg, DEA chief, requested the HHS to weigh in on a kratom ban

EDS causes inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis-like symptoms throughout every joint. It's also given me osteoarthritis, scoliosis, bursitis, tendinitis, a ysrinz in my spine, and a Chiari Malformation. I had my first brain surgery in 2012 and another one about a year later. So far I have lost my appendix, gallbladder, uterus, and a kidney from spontaneous abruption and now I have an aortic anyeruism. So I know what you mean about chronic pain. Like you, I've been on the heavy stuff for awhile now, after years of trying alternatives and physical therapy. It just took the edge off. Kratom is the first thing I've used that has helped the all over pain. I do work full time; I am the breadwinner in our family. Fortunately, I work from home (I am an author) so I can make my own schedule. But before kratom was managing the pain it was VERY difficult.

I contacted my Congressman and local press. A local television station interviewed me about the situation. I also called the White House. Who knows...with as much as we've been doing it might just make a difference! Fingers crossed anyway. I like the kratom community. I belong to a few support groups for my condition but sometimes they're just a bunch of whiners (I know how bad that sounds, but when I am feeling bad the constant complaints just make me feel worse). I feel more at home with the kratom people. They are caring and truly suportive of one another.

An old episode, from when the kids were around 18 months old aired recently.

Maci started potty training Bentley and nonchalantly broke up with Kyle.

Amber was high as a kite and met the "meeting you was the best day of my life" guy. Leah was unkempt and drinking blue kool-aid.

Farrah met with Derek's sister and Debra wasn't happy about it.

Catelynn was chirpy and matched her eyeshadow with her outfit.

The funniest thing is hearing their high-pitched teenaged voices and seeing them without any plastic surgery... and their cars.  Gary drove a minivan. Maci and Farrah drove new Dodge cars. Catelynn and Amber had rusty sedans.

I use it for back pain from carrying my daughters car seat incorrectly and I'm trying to train my body for the police academy. Dr. Drew can go take a crap on his online doctoral degree.

There doesn't seem to be a media thread, but these aren't related specifically to Teen Mom. So, here are two studies discussing the drop in teen pregnancies. I haven't read them thoroughly yet, but it doesn't seem that Teen Mom is listed as a reason for the drop. Access to birth control, on the other hand, is the primary cause of the drop, and it seems that maybe teens are having less sex in general. But again, I haven't read it thoroughly so I could be wrong.

Many years ago, there was a study by a college that specifically asked about 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom and if it had an effect on the subject's sex life. The high school students were largely no, while the college students were "Hell yes! No sex without a condom; not ruining my future!" I've never been able to find that actual report, and wonder if it was a hoax. Only, the responses seem legitimate, with high schoolers being less serious than college students. It's that study, I think, that Dr. Drew relied on to spout his accolades to the girls on the show for changing the pregnancy rate. There were several other questions, and the reason I remember it was that so many of the young women wanted IUDs, but the medical providers wouldn't insert them if you hadn't had a child already, because of the possible side effect of infertility, which is largely non-existent.  I would love to read it, if anyone knows any additional info to help me find it.

For the seventh year in a row, the teen birth rate in the U.S. hit a record low in 2015, thanks to less teen sex, better birth control use, and more education, according to the latest data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The mariachi frogs are in a tall glass display case with other small taxidermy and oddities. So far I have xylophone and bongo players, I would like a guitarist, maybe an upright bass, accordion, and definitely a horn section.

Most everything is second-hand or found, including the nsfw-ish hand blown glass naked pole dancer marble I found on the sidewalk outside next to my rubbish can years ago. I had no idea what it was at first, just looked like a misshapen blob in a marble. I left it on a sunny windowsill for months till I got a good look at it one day and realized two of the blobs were boobs.

I'm one of the first group of people to do an #iamkratom video. It's disgusting that they are banning this coffee herb. I use it for back pain from carrying my daughters car seat incorrectly and I'm trying to train my body for the police academy. Dr. Drew can go take a crap on his online doctoral degree.

I did a video too. And I am also disgusted.

Fingers crossed! Sorry for all that you are having to deal with.  Thoughts are with you and to the rest of you as well.
