Travis!  Somehow I always forget that he was on this show.  Went to high school with him and thankfully he was not at all similar to his character here.

The hot mic stuff was less boring than this episode. For example, we learned that noon Hawaii time was midnight Brian's time. This podcast always makes me laugh. Mostly because of the snark, but also? The unexpected.

What did Colin apologize to Kelly for?  Getting hooked on cocaine?  She did that all by herself!  For starting to date Val?  She dumped him and is also moving on at light speed with bland Dr. Greg!  Man do I hate her.

I'm with Tara, no way does college junior/fraternity brother/friend of alcoholic Dylan Steve not know what alcohol poisoning is.

Valerie's patheticness when it comes to Colin is sooo sad to see/listen to.  Boss bitch up, Val.

The show needs to hit the gas pedal on Single White Tara already.

On a tangent from Steve's doomed party-planning- I'm kind of surprised that Kelly lets Single White Tara glom onto her so quickly after just dealing with Alison's crush a year ago. It's kind of similar meeting under high drama circumstances, then suddenly they need each other? I guess Tara's supposed to be younger, but the fact that nobody questions her moving a strange girl into their place after a few weeks(?) is bizarre.

I have a huge soft spot for Travis as well, from seeing him at Supernatural conventions. He's quite charming and funny IRL. And he's not a foot and a half taller than me, which makes photo ops so much more enjoyable. (I'm 4'10", or as I like to say, 5' -2".)

Only posting because I was yelling at the TV while rewatching this dreck about the lawyer having HIS CLIENT's GIRLFRIEND "sell it." No, lawyer dude, YOU sell it. It's YOUR job to sell it. That's what you're getting fucking paid for. It doesn't matter who's paying your bill, you talk to your CLIENT, you try to persuade your CLIENT, you advise your CLIENT. Jesus, show. I'm a lawyer but even if I had only went to Law & Order law school I would know that much. If they wanted to have the dramatic Colin and Val discuss how he can't make it in prison, then he could have had Val sitting in the office with HIS lawyer if he wanted, not staying at home, painting shitty paintings and waiting to hear from his GIRLFRIEND what his LAWYER had to say about HIS legal problem.

Word.  I'm a lawyer too and all of it just rang so false with me.  Also, TAKE THE EFFING PLEA DEAL.  Six months in county jail for possession, flight from justice, and the high (low) speed police chase are all felonies.  Regardless of his first time offender status, this is a deal that he needs to be grateful to receive.  He really does act entitled to having the charged dropped and he was busted on television!  Six months is a sweetheart deal!

Too bad Jesse left and we aren't left with stellar in-house legal advice.  Was 3 strikes around that time in CA? I'm already feeling sad for Val when Collin bails and then tells Kelly that he really loves her (while poor Val overhears).  I don't know why they have to rub Val's nose in it all the time.  Why can't they just have Val and Kelly hate each other but both be successful?

How does Steve continue to host parties? Wasn't his plea deal to stop hosting until graduation?  Those idiot bros are in high school... wouldn't Steve pay any attention to them drinking that much? He really is a moron.

I have to comment on the little black dress for the party.  In my school, a "fancy" party involved jeans, maybe a fitted shirt (vs the T-shirt and flannel I wore during the day), Doc Martens, and some necklace that was on a cord most likely.  My hair would still be in the pony tail.  Perhaps this is because of the greek system, as I do remember they had formals a lot.

That would require the writers to remember continuity and that was never there strong suit.  Besides, the Beverly gang is above everything, including the law...

I think it was actually a ban on planning parties for profit (which is a totally normal thing that 20-year-old college kids do all the time and yet was an absolutely devastating blow for Steve).

My favorite thing about this episode is Greg warning Kelly to be careful with the Tara situation because they met under intense circumstances, yada yada yada... when Greg and Kelly met under the exact same circumstances. If anything, Greg and Kelly dating five minutes after she gets out of rehab in which Greg was part of her care team - even if he's not yet a fully fledged doctor - seems way, way worse than Kelly befriending her rehab roommate (Tara's psycho stalking aside).

I have to say, I think this period is Kelly's best post-Season 4 look. Her clothes are still pretty terrible - this is pretty much peak skirt-suit-no-21-year-old-would-ever-wear-ever - but her hair and makeup look consistently great (even if her makeup is inconsistent within scenes).

Colin's "art" on the other hand... Colin's done a lot of shittastic paintings, but the multi-colored circles on yellow backdrop has to be the absolute worst. Good god, is that thing terrible.

Don't they (rehab) recommend that recovering addicts, the single ones anyway, wait a significant amount of time (months to a year I think) before starting a new relationship?  Not that I would expect Kelly to ever be without a man but surely her rehab therapist(s) encouraged her to focus on healing?  Hey!  THIS is when she should have chosen herself!  Get out of rehab, focus on her emotional recovery while maintaining her physical recovery, and then consider getting a boyfriend.  The timing would even coincide with her season 7 reunion with Brandon (gag).  But all of that would make sense.

Seriously, yes and yes! With all the shitty and shady unprofessionalism of Colin's lawyer (see my rant above) I hadn't even thought about THIS guy's shady af behaviour. Wow, we are supposed to think Terruh is nutty to not want Kelly to date her former caregiver and she is, but she wasn't wrong that it wasn't a good idea. Same as she wasn't wrong that maybe a recovering DRUG addict should stay off the party circuit for awhile? And Kelly's lame "we'll help each other"... was ... weird. So Kelly is a substance abuse specialist now? WTAF?

Now we need one of Sarah D. Bunting's famous "ALL BETTER" snarks as to why Kelly doesn't seem to have to follow any of the accepted rules of recovery.

True, but technically Kelly wasn't doing coke on the party circuit but instead holed up with Colin- which is also weird. They behaved more like what I know of heroin/opiate addicts (from TV).

Jesse would tell him that and then Oooondrea would let Colin babysit her daughter.

Wait a second. Didn't Kelly just get out of rehab, along with Streetchild? Why, then, are they both at a party where Intoxicating Substances are present?

Kelly the Psych major at her best....

Which would work out fabulous, since Jesse was already going to ask Val to babysit Hannah anyway! It's like Val & Colin are meant-to-be together in every way!

I guess this is part of the narrative of what a golden vajayjay goddess Kelly is... she breezes through rehab and her doc is naturally in love with her.  The show had a really good opportunity to include Jackie in the rehab, to help Kelly look at her self destructive behavior, and her parental issues.    Once again, someone as "smart as Kelly" is making less than stellar decisions.  I'm starting to think if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...

You know that 90210 went to Prang, Roseart and Crayola and was all "Y'all want to get in on a sponsorship on an awesome art storyline" and they were all "let's see what yo-- NO THANKS BYE."
