Jenny McCarthy: She Doesn't Want Kids to Get Vaccinated

Some of the unvaccinated in California are immigrants from other countries, many of whom can't get and/or afford medical care here. And so they and their kids may get whooping cough (or other diseases). I am in my 40'S and live in Ohio, and my doctor just gave me the shot as well as she said many elderly around here are coming down with it. I'm not sure what's going on.

Vaccinations for children can be free.

For some reason I cannot get below this quote to expand on it.  For public consumption, Jenny says too many too fast, and that parents should ask for the compounded vaccinations separately (MMR, DPT).  She has never changed her story about how Evan "contracted" autism, and she claims that he is now recovered.  Hogwash, if he's recovered, he never had it.  The thing about separating the compounded vaccinations is that, that type would no longer be free to the uninsured or most likely, children on medicaid.

Two of her books are about being the mother with a child with autism, one of them specifically about "healing and recovering" from it.

Also, she and many of the doctors that she appeared on Oprah, CNN etc.. with, also suggest dangerous biomedical "cures"; a lot of these doctors are essentially quacks.  This whole trend takes away herd immunity, which means that children and adults that cannot have vaccines due to some illnesses and immunity deficiencies along with newborns that are too young for them, are unnecessarily exposed.

Was/Is Jenny McCarthy really "ANTI" vaccine?   Anti-vaccine in all situations?  For all methods?  For all people?

I just read that Jenny McCarthy is leaving along with Sheri Shepherd.  What's going on over there?

If true, I'm sorry to see Jenny go.  She hasn't been given the best shot on this show--and she just moved her son from Chicago to NYC.  That said, ANYTHING will please me if it makes Sherri Shepherd go away from a venue where she gets to spout her opinions and act like a fool.  I just can't believe it will happen.

Jenny sounds pissed.

"If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters." She followed that with, "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

I bet Jenny really is pissed after moving Evan and 2 "adopted" kids for the summer (?) And she was hired to bring the fluff...and did.

Wonder if BW's reception offer still holds.......

Jenny would have to move her son to NYC anyway if she marries Donnie W., who works on Blue Bloods in NYC.  Good thing she caught herself a (soon-to-be) huzzbin (tm Sherri S.) to take care of them!

I do feel bad for Jenny. She really wasn't given enough of a chance. She was so sincere with thanking BW during her farewell for the opportunity of a lifetime to sit at the table.

I don't think they gave her much of a chance either but then she doesn't seem to have much of a personality.  TPTB did manage to use her to get Donnie Wahlberg as a cohost the same week that they dumped her, though. Cold.

Why wasn't her son living with her all along? And who was he living with? I understand that changes in environment is often harder on children with autism, but surely that must've been easier than only seeing is mother 3 days each week (assuming she travelled back to Chicago each weekend).

Her contract was only for one year and it wasn't renewed. So how can she say if Sherri goes, she goes?

She was going regardless if Sherri left or not.

She is making it sound like she had the option to stay and is leaving because Sherri is leaving. Am I right?

Donnie's older son is 21, his younger one will be 13 in August.  I think he normally has the younger one during the summer months anyway.

Family in Chicago (though I think she said "a male couple" at one point as well.)

Jenny had stated a while back that it was important to Evan to remain in his present class until the end of the school year and she agreed with him.  Once his school year ended, she moved him to NY.  At  least Jenny and Evan have a soft spot to land, with Donnie being based in NY also.

But he doesn't have autism anymore. His mother cured him a few years back. ;)

According to the news pieces on the firings, Jenny was gone regardless and Sherri and the team couldn't come to terms on contract. So, Jenny was lying by saying if Sherri goes, she goes. Jenny was gone regardless. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Lots of women were pissed by ABC giving a platform to that anti-vaxx nutjob and weren't going to watch the show because of her. Glad to see her gone.

I'm beginning to suspect that she knew that it wasn't going to be renewed for a while now. She was scheduled to do her comedy tour (yes she has one) in the New Jersey area this weekend but they were pulled a few weeks ago (her best friend said they were being "rescheduled.") Could be due to ticket sales as I knew people who planned on going and you could still pull up 4th row when they last checked a month ago, but now it seems a but too coincidental.

She is also out of the country: http://pagesix.com/2014/06/27/jenny-mccarthy-flees-to-turks-caicos-after-view-firing/

I also think that Jenny knew for a while that her contract wasn't going to be renewed. There were rumors of that almost all season.

Also, I don't think this has been posted here before - I was looking for something else at ET online and I found this from last week, Tuesday, June 24th. I don't remember this being discussed at all here but it was two days before the official word came out last Thursday, June 26th:

REPORT: Jenny McCarthy May Not Be Returning To 'The View' Next Season

June 24, 2014

More shake-ups at The View may be on the horizon, according to a report by FOX411 which states that a source close to the show has revealed that Jenny McCarthy's contract may not get renewed.

Current host and former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy has been a host on the ABC daytime round-table talk show for only one season, but according to Fox's source, ABC wasn't happy with the ratings after the addition of McCarthy to the panel, and is likely not going to renew her contract when it comes up in July.

ABC is prohibited from discussing on-going negotiations and talent contracts, but told FOX411 that, "Jenny has been a welcome addition to the show."

McCarthy joined The View last year as a replacement for conservative host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who moved over to Fox News to co-host their day-time panel discussion program Fox & Friends.

According to the report, The View's rating have dipped in the last season and, while the show still has the highest ratings for its style of programming, ratings for the CBS show The Talk have been steadily increasing.

No official comment from ABC or McCarthy's representative about her contract renewal have yet been made.

The "source", hmmmm. And ABC wasn't happy with the ratings? If that's the case, it wasn't Jenny's fault, imo.

Really, hiring Jenny to bring the fluff, and the whole new format including THE YEAR OF BARBARA, selfies, lack of A-listers, tepid topics, allowing to Sherri to spiral even more out of control has nothing to do with the ratings  this season - all Jenny's fault/ sarcasm

Oh - and ABC, BW and BG had nothing to do with it - so even more all Jenny's fault.

I've been thinking about Jenny McCarthy and realized that she did have a persona for awhile that was "the clumsy pretty girl."  She made all kinds of goofy faces and tried out some sort of slapstick comedy that I hoped she'd give up.  Apparently she did.  Then came The View.  Wonder what's next.  She is a smart and pretty girl.  I hope she has good advisers now that she has some money.

800 cases? Yikes. I wonder what the stats were like before JM began her crusade. I've followed the vaccine subject on various boards for years and it seems to me the anti-vaccine crowd has shifted their focus a bit from autism to Alzheimer's, as well as from autism to "I decide what I put into my child's body, not the government." Herd immunity be damned, I guess.

I'm late to the party (just catching up on this thread) but I saw an interactive map the other day (created by the Council on Foreign Relations) that help explains the impact of the anti-vaccine movement on preventable diseases worldwide.    It also answers your question @Milk-Eyed Mender.  For example, I filtered the map for just measles at 2008, then slide to 2014.  It's pretty cool.  I found the link in a blog that mentioned McCarthy by name in leading the crusade as an anti-vaccine activist.  I don't think her influence can  be underestimated.  I remember seeing the Frontline documentary on the subject years ago - and she was prominently featured then.  I think McCarthy was more than a celebrity 'endorser' , she was a true activist and make a big impact on this issue.  Here is  The Map of Vaccine-Preventable  Outbreaks.

Jenny couldn't have more pissed in her announcement...

Agreed. I loved it.  There's nothing like a bitter blonde on The Spew to make my morning.

And too bad this week's Jenny didn't show up a year ago when she was hired!  Because this week she actually has some shit to say instead of just blending in with the wallpaper.  Hiring her & slapping a muzzle on her was just one more mistake this show made out of many.

Slapping a muzzle on her and this week?

When she was officially hired at this time last year, a lot of people speculated that she has an outlet to voice her opinions on vaccines.  But I think even she knew that if it was mentioned on air, she would be dealing with a lot of headaches, so she "played it safe" (according to US magazine) and kept quiet.  Whether she decided to "muzzle" herself so the average viewer can relate to her more or if it was the producers' idea, it didn't work. Now that she's on the way out, she simply doesn't care and letting it all out.  But I do think she had too much baggage coming into this from the start.  The average viewer is over 60 years old, how are they going to really relate to someone who's 20 years younger with a questionable history?

The 60-yr-old average viewer isn't important, and where do you get your facts about who their "average viewer" is?  What's important to the advertisers (and they are the only ones who matter) is the audience they want to reach, and it's not 60-yr-olds.

Found it in an article about 2 weeks ago (and I'm trying to locate it,) and the age IS important: the average age when the show started was about 46, now it's 61. So it's been trending upwards for years. This year, 18-49 demo dropped by 4%.

Link to comment

Yes, it certainly is as it's important to the advertisers who back the show.  Advertisers like to skew to the 18-49 age bracket since historically, those are the people with the spending power and the desire to purchase.  Once viewers start approaching retirement age, they tend to be spending less and/or set in their ways and relying on "same old" products as opposed to trying new, more expensive products.  The advertisers have most of the control and power, which is why it's always a hefty threat when disgruntled viewers rally to boycott an advertiser's product.  Advertisers listen, even when TPTB  at the actual show don't.  No advertisers, no backing, no show, plain and simple.

Thank you, Tunia, that's what I was trying to say.  The View's average viewer is not part of the desirable demographic.  Even though we have more money to spend, our brand loyalties are well-established.

Wendy Williams seems to have that 18-49 demo.  Her audience resembles Oprah's (old) audience, young, fashionable, well dressed, diverse.  The View audience sometimes looks like me at home on my couch.

Jenny commented on Rosie's hiring, and she also said that she will be announcing something "big" on tomorrow's show:

'They're going in the direction of fire!' Jenny McCarthy reveals she supports Rosie O'Donnell's return to The View

Jenny McCarthy might have been tossed from the hit ABC talk show The View, but she’s apparently not holding any grudges.

Upon learning that Rosie O’Donnell would return to the show that Barbara Walters created, Jenny  said she believed the loud-mouth comedienne would take the show in the direction producers want.

'I love Rosie. I have been a fan of hers forever,' the 41-year-old blonde told reporters on Friday at The Palazzo Las Vegas.

'I knew they were looking to bring some heat to the table and there is no doubt that with Rosie there will be some heat. They are definitely going in the direction of fire.'

The former Playboy model, who flew to Miami on Saturday for her Dirty Sexy Funny comedy show at the Magic City Casino, seems back to her bubbly self just weeks after she and Sherri Shepherd announced they were leaving the show.

ABC implied in a statement the two were fired and producers were looking for replacements to back up Whoopi Goldberg, the show's only remaining co-host.

Rosie left the show in 2007 after just eight months following an on-air fight with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck did not hide her outrage over Rosie's return on Fox And Friends Wednesday, alleging that she believed the deal to bring back O'Donnell had 'been in the works for a long time.'

But Jenny, who is engaged to actor Donnie Wahlberg, refused to be critical.

'It's going to be some exciting television,' she admitted. 'I will be there with my beer and popcorn at eleven in the morning. I can't wait to see how it plays out.'

McCarthy - who incorrectly predicted in a pre-exit interview that she would be on the daytime talk show in 20 years - seems to have already moved on, too.

'Monday there will be a big announcement,' she said. 'Everyone should do something they love doing but that shows off their strengths and have fun while doing it.'

She was on Howard Stern's show this morning.  I don't have Sirius XM, but the one thing I gathered was when she was asked if she was fired from the show she said "Yes and No."  Uh...that normally means yes.

Her new job is going to Sirius XM.

Entertainment weekly says her weekly show starts Wednesday...http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/07/14/jenny-mccarthy-siriusxm-radio/

They also (incorrectly) say she left The View earlier this month:

She left the show earlier this month along with Sherri Shepherd, shortly after the retirement of host Barbara Walters

...On her last appearance on The View, McCarthy promised that her next project would all her to “talk without having to interrupt anyone.” If nothing else, this radio show will fulfill that desire.

There's probably very little way to quantify people like that.  The people who hate her are going to be the only ones who bother to tweet about it.

There are so few people who are willing to pay for Sirus any more that I am not sure it really matters. Jenny is going to go back to being irrelevant. I expect her to start talking up the anti-vaccine thing again to try to stay in the public eye.

They also (incorrectly) say she left The View earlier this month:

It looks like she's going from one part-time job (The View) to a very, very part-time "job":

In a press release today, SiriusXM announced that former View panelist Jenny McCarthy will now host a live, limited-run, hour-long weekly series on SiriusXM starting on Wednesday July 16. Titled Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy, McCarthy plans to discuss everything from parenting and marriage to dating and sex. Chelsea Handler, Perez Hilton, and McCarthy’s fiancé Donnie Wahlberg are all scheduled to appear.

It's only one hour and once a week, and for a "limited run".  Not exactly something to replace The View in visibility or compensation, no matter how she tries to spin it:

On her last appearance on The View, McCarthy promised that her next project would all her to “talk without having to interrupt anyone.” If nothing else, this radio show will fulfill that desire.

“It’s no secret that I love to talk. I’m excited to do it on SiriusXM without having to interrupt anyone or keep things

clean,” she said in a statement. “You can bet your sweet ass this show will live up to its title.”

Gee, won't that be lovely for her son if she's on the radio being all raunchy and no class?

I wonder if she and Donnie have a quid pro quo e.g. every time he appears on a show of hers, she has to appear on the family reality show?

Saw a pic of her in Miami - yikes - nothing left to the imagination and her "comedy act" dirty, funny, sexy - lord a'mighty as granny would say.  Piece of trash as the other granny would say.

Don't mean to be judgmental or anything, sigh, but given that the above is how I think she sees herself and her career - what in the name of women everywhere were they thinking casting her.  Perhaps they thought the college male demographic would sign on just to see her?!

Oh, yes, I saw the pics of her in a "gentleman's club" in Miami on Saturday: Keeping it classy, Jenny

That was after the pool party in Vegas on Friday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2689426/Jenny-McCarthy-great-spirits-soaks-sun-Vegas-plunging-black-swimsuit-despite-dismissal-The-View.html

As far as her conflicting statements about the timing of her wedding, she told People Magazine it will be soon:

"I will marry Donnie in the next few weeks," McCarthy, 41, told PEOPLE Saturday, before hosting her touring comedy review Dirty Sexy Funny at Miami's Magic City Casino.

"He is the most amazing man, and we have become a great team. Although I haven't told my dad yet, my son, Evan, will walk me down the aisle before he goes back to school in the fall."

The best part was her future sister in law was getting confused (she's married to Mark Wahlberg):
