Tori & Company In The Media

Now they also owe $700,000 to the IRS! That's about 1.5-2 million in earnings, depending on the penalties.  No ignoring that problem.

Anything Candy gives them would be taxable only to Candy.  My guess is they didn't file taxes and the State of California and the IRS estimated their income based on either past years, or what they estimate these two could have earned.

For them to owe that much to the state, Candy must be giving them money in addition to the kid's tuition.  No way those two earned enough money on their own to rack up that kind of tax debt for one year.

According to Candy, she's paying their bills (mortgage, utilities, food, medical, schools), but she said she will NOT pay to bail them out of credit card debt, delinquent taxes, etc.  Two losers with 4 kids.  Actually 5 kids, counting Dean's son.  SMDH

Interest and penalties add up fast on unpaid taxes. Rather than paying for storage units, Tori should hire an accountant to keep her in line. Good for Candy for taking care of the children and letting these "adults" stew in their own stupidity.

I would feel like such a loser if at Tori and Dean's ages my mommy had to pay my bills and take care of my kids.  How can these two look at themselves in the mirror and not feel shame?  I'm glad that Candy is helping the kids out but it's just too bad that Tori and Dean benefit from it as well.  I bet if they were really trying and not acting like two entitled idiots, Candy would be more generous with them.  Not that she isn't already being generous but I bet she'd be giving them a lot more.

I hope Candy leaves her nothing in her will.  I hope she gives it all to charity. Tori doesn't deserve a penny.

Is Tori still paying for the storage units? If she has any income, it shouldn't go for that. She should clear out the units and have an estate sale. But she's honestly too disordered to do that, not with massive amounts of help. I don't think her mother should pay for the storage units either, but somehow I think if no one paid for them and they went to auction we would have heard about that.

It seems like she finds a way to pay for the storage units, but somehow needs Mommy's help to pay for shelter for her kids.

Candy said that?  Do you happen to remember where she said it?  I bet Tori is suuuper upset about her saying that.

Tori does look much better with some fat.  I am wondering if she has some kind of medical issue which is forcing her to gain weight.  Otherwise I CANNOT see her actually gaining weight on purpose.  She is the most vain person ever, and she loves her skinny body.  AND she probably worries about gaining weight and losing Dean to a skinny woman!

ETA - not that she is even fat here!  She is still slim.  But compared to her old skeletal self, this is just so different.

The thing is, Candy can't just "be more generous" with Tori because Tori's financial problems are rooted in her shopping/hoarding addictions. If Candy gave her more money, she would just spend more. That's why Candy puts limits on what she'll pay for and pays Tori's creditors directly. If Candy gave Tori $X for some legitimate expense, Tori would go and spend the money on party supplies or clothes or whatever and come back to Candy shrieking, "If you don't pay for the rent/food/school/etc., your grandchildren will be out on the street/starve!" She is no different from any other kind of addict (and I wouldn't be surprised if she has a prescription drug problem as well). I actually feel bad for Candy, as I would feel bad for any parent in her situation. It's nice that she has the money to keep Tori from going off the deep end and can pay people to deal with her to some extent, but I'm sure the emotional toll is no different than it would be for any mother and it's embarrassing to have her family dysfunction play out so publicly.

It is very wise of Candy to pay their rent/utilities/food/ tuition/medical care directly.  But what happens when the kids are grown?  Will they then sponge off the trust funds of their own children?  Candy may have it in her will that Tori and Dean only get a set monthly pittance for the rest of their lives so they may never get their hands on the principal.  I believe if Aaron had given Tori 1/3 of his fortune she still would have pissed through it by now and would be trying to get her hands on Candy's or Randy's inheritance.... also.... with the size of Aaron's fortune Tori had access to the world's top colleges and could have gotten herself an incredible education to be anything!  But I'm guessing she has at most a high school diploma.

I read a couple of Tori's books. Her first book is actually pretty entertaining and funny for the most part, as most of it deals with how weird it was to grow up in Hollywood as Aaron Spelling's daughter. She has (or at least had) a pretty good sense of humor about herself, her looks, and her acting abilities. There are some great stories about how bizarre her childhood was (her father would fly in snow for Tori and her brother to play in around Christmas, her mother has a gift wrapping room, etc) and funny little stories about other celebs like Farrah Fawcett & Shannen Doherty, etc. Once she gets to where she meets Dean, though, it does get eye-roll worthy.

Anyway, I'm just saying all of that because I know from reading that first book that Tori did finish high school but she did not go to college. She wanted to go to Northwestern but Aaron had a terrible fear of flying (whenever the family traveled it was by train and boat - they'd even take a boat to Europe). He was scared about her flying between LA & Chicago so much if she was to go to Northwestern and the fact that he'd have to take a train to Chicago to visit her, which would take more time and make it harder for him to come see her with his producing responsibilities. I believe she got into Northwestern but Aaron basically guilted her in to staying in LA. She was accepted into USC. But then she felt pressured to stay on 90210 & felt couldn't do it and take classes. She deferred her enrollment for a year. But then she just ended up staying on 90210 and never started taking classes at USC. At one point in her book, post-90210 and when she's cobbling together a living out of crappy made for TV movies & plays and trying to get her own show off the ground, she complains about how while her now successful friends were in college (and now have wonderful careers as bankers, etc) she was working (on 90210). She sounded pretty bitter about it. It was another eye-roll inducing part. She's pretty much complaining that she'd been working ever since she was a kid (on TV shows) and now had nothing to fall back on since she worked instead of going to college. She obviously has no clue that many people work part-time as teens and many also work part-time and full-time while attending college and that many of us with college degrees have a ton of student loan debt and don't have the connections her friends did through their wealthy parents to get cushy, well-paying jobs straight out of college. Ugh. But anyway, yes, she did finish high school. No college.

I really think she's missed her calling. She would have been an amazing professional event planner to the rich and famous. She could have made a decent living (if she lived like a normal person) working as an event planner for the friends she and her family knew in Hollywood. But, she's a famewhore and it wouldn't have gotten her a place in the spotlight, I guess. And now that everyone knows what a mess she is, no one would hire her to do that sort of thing now.

ETA: I also read Candi's first book and it was pretty good as well. She didn't bash Tori but she was clear that she and her husband gave/were willing to give their kids every opportunity as kids/young adults and if they didn't take advantage of the fabulous advantages they were given, that was on them. She was from a middle class family and Aaron from a poor family, and they felt like giving their kids such a head start should have been more than enough, as it was more than either of them had. Candi also has some great little stories about celebrities she came in contact with over the years. On the very first date Aaron took her on, they went to a party where Rock Hudson was in attendance. He was Candi's favorite actor and celebrity crush. She was so scared to meet him that she spent most of that first date locked in a bathroom trying to avoid having to do so as she was afraid she'd embarrass herself or faint when introduced to Hudson. She was sure Aaron would never want to see her again after, but he thought it was endearing.

I read her first book a few years ago, but don't remember anything about her wanting to go to college. I could have blocked it out though!

I don't think Candy should be giving them any money. If they downsize their lifestyle, they can support their own kids. They would not go hungry. Private school, gadgets, ridiculous birthday parties, etc are not necessary.

I did enjoy her first book.  I found  a copy on CD at a local library book sale for a quarter and bought it.  Listening to it again (I first read the book years ago when Tori and Dean just had two kids) I was struck by how intent Tori was that she'd never make the mistakes her parents made.  She and Dean would live normally, not give over the top parties the kids wouldn't even remember or appreciate, not use their kids for publicity ops.  Kind of ironic how things turned out.

I think they're way past that point, but I could be wrong. If a judge is ordering you to pay a bill, then I think they've past the "working out an arrangement" stage.

Oh, I don't think monthly payments are an option at this time. It's just that for the rest of us who sometimes send only the minimum payment on much smaller credit card balance amounts, at least our balance isn't nearly $40,000.

She's 43, for goodness sake.  The chances of her having a surprise pregnancy are fairly low.

I'm guessing she was looking better in July because she was taking fertility drugs (weight gain).

Coming from someone who tried to get pregnant from the age of 38 through 44, I find this "surprise" business to be a bit dubious.

I always hate the "meant to be" comments when it comes to getting pregnant.  Sure after you have sex a number of times without protection and nature takes its course--I guess you can call that meant to be.  But I call it trying to get pregnant.  lol

This news really makes me mad.  I am so tired of her back and forth in the news about her money--she has some, she doesn't, she is in debt, she is not, and now when it is confirmed she is in debt, she announces another child to come into the world.  She is such a prize.

Didn't she talk on the show or in an interview about how she almost died having Finn and she could die if she tried to have another baby? Then there was the whole thing with them announcing that they couldn't afford a vasectomy for Dean. I guess we should have sent them donations if we wanted to prevent this.

Is it horrible that the thought crossed my mind that this could be a set up for a "miscarriage" and subsequent media tour/reality show about carrying on bravely after losing your miracle baby?

When I was pregnant at 36, I glanced at my file and it was labeled "geriatric!"  I didn't take offense, as it was a medical way of saying that I was older, and there are more risks involved.

I am surprised they called your co-worker "elderly," as that is not a medical term, but geriatric is.

And although it is common, truth be told, 36-42 is on the older side to have a baby.

I am surprised Tori is having another one.  She seems so overwhelmed, just by life in general.

If I'd had the complications and problems with/resulting from pregnancies that Tori's had, you better believe I wouldn't be having any more babies. I really do know of a handful of people IRL in their 40s who had a 'surprise' pregnancy. None of them were actively trying.  I've read it tends to happen to women who've had a couple kids already.

Now, that said, I would NOT be surprised if Tori and Dean were totally planning this. For all the aforementioned reasons: trying to hold the marriage together, famewhore-ism, but mostly $$$ !

Yes, Tori is not only 43 but a mother of 4 (2 boys and 2 girls) and she had suffered complications with the last two pregnancies!! I'm not into controlling other women's reproductive rights, but there's no denying her health is in jeopardy. 4 c-sections she's had? I want her and the baby to be healthy, of course I wouldn't want those kids to lose their mom.

Given their business acumen, I'm guessing they sold their story for a couple of plane tickets and a night at a fancy hotel where she can recover from the trauma of her life.

If I were Candy, I would monogram any gift to the grandchildren (so it couldn't be returned for cash) and make sure any gift I made is only for the grandkids.  "No one has eaten because you can't afford groceries?  I am picking the grandkids up so that they can eat with me.  You two are on your own.  I hear Raman noodles are yummy."  No more freebies for these two.

Dean is 49.

My parents were in their (early) 40s when I was born. I'm an only child and I was a surprise. And my parents are still around 30+ years later. Far be it for me to pass judgment on anyone being too old to have a baby BUT....we've seen Dean's lifestyle. We know from True Tori he has a problem with alcohol at least (and maybe other substances as well). He still looks like he has the alcohol bloat, so I'm betting he hasn't really gotten sober. Unless Dean changes his lifestyle for good, I don't know if he'll make it to this kid's 18th birthday or if he does, what his quality of life will be like and how involved he'll be able to be in this new child's life as he/she grows up. And we can all plainly see that Tori probably has some issues with eating (or not eating) that are probably effecting her health or will eventually do so. (Plus all the health problems she had after having the last baby & now this baby.) This is potentially a disaster for the new baby (and the four kids they already have).

I kind of doubt this new baby was a "surprise" but I really hope the Deaner gets a vasectomy after this or Tori gets some sort of permanent/semi-permanent birth control.
