I have to wonder where the other two weddings were. Because if they were at their church or the local JOP, they're are going to run out of other (inexpensive) places to have this shindig. Although I guess they could do a double wedding in the park with Chantel and Pedro.

@sleepyjean, thank you for this, best laugh I've had today! "and now I have to share my Special Day with three time loser Matt! Waaaaah!"

Really, Matt's too sensitive to get married on a beach now? There are lots of places that have beaches and are nothing like Cancun! My god he is a spoiled little princeling. So Alla's dreams mean nothing? Is she allowed to wear a long white dress? How about the food? "Sorry honey, we served filet mignon at Matt's second wedding. Cake flavors? Red velvet, lemon and chocolate are out. And forget any songs you might like to hear at the reception. Only songs released in the last two years will be permitted." Good to know.

I think it's mainly a business arrangement for them. There were a lot of women in Azan's house and only one man (Azan's BIL). No men in the direct bloodline except for Azan.  I'm sure they want Nicole to be appropriate and respectable, but they’re all hoping he'll be able to send money home.

Her sense of superiority bugs. When the BIL says, "they don't speak English," Nicole says,  "Oh, that's okay."  Bitch, you're in their country! Yes, it's "OK" that they don't speak English. You should be apologizing for not taking 5 minutes to learn a few simple Arabic phrases.

Don't they get this show in Morocco? His family is going to know about her cheating when it airs.

I've been around people who have relatives and friends who don't speak English. Since it's rude to speak another language around those who don't, it's customary to let those who speak mostly English  or have limited skills in the language what they're going to do.  Many of my in laws don't speak English very well. After the rum starts flowing, they switch back to Spanish.  They apologize..I say it's cool because I understand it enough to know what's going on...then I apologize because I can't speak it. I'm giving her a pass; she knows they can't speak English that well or at all and she's outnumbered.  For the functionally bilingual, playing interpreter gets exhausting after a while.

Maybe not a white dress. . .

Don't most brides/brides' families usually pay for their dresses? I never heard of a woman's fiance paying for her wedding dress before this show.

People, TLC and Sharp Productions are in the advertising and cable business.  They are not in the make couples happy business, or matchmaking business.   They are putting on a clown show and they are fully aware of it.   This show has producers and writers, adult people who have been around and know after four seasons what works to get people talking and keep them coming back.   It’s a shame that they don’t focus on having couples who can actually make it.   There are tons of K9 couples who fit this profile, but apparently, that doesn’t sell as much as having clowns like Anfisa, pathetic Nicole, Wannabee Queen Chantal and losers such as Matt, Jorge and the lady marrying the Nigerian scammer.

To explain how the process works, to explain what couples go through and how some of them do it themselves, to learn more about their story back home (Why did Pedro do?  What did Alla do?)   All these things could add to these shows, but TLC and Sharp do not care for that.   It’s easier and cheaper to put on a clown show full of pathetic losers because it gets people talking and watching.

I read years ago how the family that started the National Enquirer were actually wealthy people, educated people.  Their son, who started the whole thing, said he got the idea from watching people gawking at street fights and car accidents in the street.   That’s what this show is about, the lowest of the low.  While getting ready for Graduate school, I once had a Math Tutor who married a guy overseas and sponsored him coming to the US.  I have another friend they are both doctors, we used to call them the Cosbys.   Couples like that would make for great TV.   But TLC/Sharp don’t care for that.

Sharp has a great premise here, but they are diluting it by lack of substance in their story.   So much, that it’s predictable.  The Nigerian prince will scam that poor woman in need of a reality check.   Nicole will get stranded as Azan cancels this idea that only fits in her head.   Chantal and Pedro will break up soon after.    I won’t say anything about Anfisa and Jorge because they are “plants” since nobody can be that stupid (Jorge) or that self-centered  (Anfisa).  If she’s real, she has had a plan about what she wants years before she met Jorge and she has a date in her mind as to when she’ll dump him.  Did anyone notice how quickly she closed her laptop when Jorge came around?  Major red flag.

TLC/Sharp wants couples who are NO match and it’s obvious.  Where in a million years would a guy like Azan, even look at someone like Nicole.  She’s so empty and uninteresting.   Alla sounds like an independent woman, they match her up with Matt, a guy who is possessive and has failed at this marriage thing 3 times before.  Recipe for failure.  Jorge and Anfisa, same thing, it can never work, it’s laughable ……yet it sells because all of us are slapping our hands on our thighs screaming at the TV “are you stupid?!!! “

By the way, the only real people in this whole season are Chantal’s parents.  I wish they would adopt me.   With Parents like that, Chantal missed a great opportunity to have a heart to heart conversation that could position her better for her wishes to be a TV star (a very long shot).  Did she have to do it in a parking lot?  Girl, your parents have class, don’t do that to them.

If you want TV with a purpose, other than making money, what Thirteen or NPR.

As far as Nicole not talking about her daughter - y'all must have missed the scene where she was sitting in the outdoor restaurant with Azan, and had the daughter on the phone, and made her talk to Azan and call him "Daddy."

I'd actually rather that Nicole didn't talk about the poor kid at all than make her do that.

Yes, I think brides or their families usually pay for their dresses, but nothing's hard and fast, especially nowadays. But what I was getting at was--Alla's dream of a beach wedding was nixed since poor tender reed Matt was married on a beach once before. So what else will Alla have to give up? Matt's previous brides almost certainly wore a long white dress. Receptions were held, food was served, music played. Will Alla have any of these things or will they upset Matt too much?

Couples like that are also not interested in going on a reality tv show.   Calm, have it together couples have enough sense not to put their business out for the world to see.    So you get what we see because this is who is willing to sign up for the show.

I disagree with you who is the plant.   I totally see an Anfisa finding a "rich" American to come over here and just use for money and the poor schlub taking it as long as he has the "hot" chick on his arm.    I think Nicole and Azan are the plants.   After all, the show did so well with Mohammad and Danielle last season, they wanted the same ratings gold.

I hate to keep harping on Pedro with the beautiful smile, but I will feel better about things when I see him actually handle a situation competently.

When he missed his plane, he didn't even try to call her. He just let her show up at the airport and freak out about it. Then, when she confronted him, in Spanish, he didn't even apologize. He just tried to dodge responsibility. Was it the plane's fault, Pedro? To me that scenario spoke volumes about his character.

I have nothing good to say about Pedro, so I will say nothing at all.

Hey, wait a minute...I take offense that this show replaces the Kartrashians as the lowest of the low, haha!

And what about the bad editing to manipulate the storyline?

Of course there's a lot to side-eye about this show but it's still awesome to watch.  I love the science channel and documentaries and the news.  But I don't always want real-life thought-provoking self-examination educational documentary shows.  Sometimes I want a train wreck or the 3 stooges.  I don't turn on 90 day fiance to watch average people working through the K1 process, I turn it on to watch wtf tv, lol!

Anfisa and Nicole are my favs and great entertainment.  I was thrilled when they were shown and knew it would be something completely different than anything in my life and fun to roll my eyes at.  Likewise, they're adults and knew what they were signing up for.  If  the producers want to manipulate it or try to keep me guessing then go for it!  If it gets too obvious or trashy I lose interest but everyone has their personal threshold for such things.  In the meantime TLC should bring it!!

And as if the show wasn't crazy enough, it's added fun to come snark about the show on these forums.  Even more fun is reading everyone else's opinions and snark.  (Love you prev tv!)

I agree with this. While I have no doubt that Nicole is immature, self-absorbed, and graceless, I do think there is a lot of editing going on as well to push that story line. It's unlikely that she would be completely silent about her daughter the whole time, if for no reason than she doesn't have a whole lot going on in her life and not much else to talk about.

No, Kirlyam and Alan don't have any children. But speaking of her, my gosh, the contrast between her photoshoot and Anfisa and Pao's shoots. Hers was much more fashion-y.

It was aleksandra!! But no model just a go go dancer

Completely agree. This is entertainment. I'd be bored to tears if I had to watch 'real people' go through the process.

I think Chantel and Pedro are the ones with the phoniest storyline  ever. Never told her parents? Bull.

He went to Jared! (or The Castle's Marrakesh location!)

In morrocco its not u usual that you wear both rings before even getting married.. no church wedding its like a judge getting you married then s reception

Obviously no ocean, but Kentucky must have some beautiful lakeside sandy beaches where a couple could get married (without upsetting hypersensitive Matt)

Heck yeah. We DO have some beautiful sandy beaches. The Land Between the Lakes is a gorgeous park, with lots of places where they could marry. Carter Caves, Dale Hollow Lake, etc. are some nice watery areas that could serve as good wedding locations.

Matt reminds me of my ex-fiance. We couldn't do shit without it reminding him of HIS ex. He had free passes to Disney World but we could never go because that's where HE proposed to HER. Couldn't eat at steakhouses because she had been a vegetarian and he'd decided to take up the idea, too, after they broke up. Couldn't go to Las Vegas because that is where she was from. Couldn't go to New Orleans because there was too much alcohol there and she had not been a drinker...

Notice I say "ex fiance"?

Sounds absurd, but Alla should get to have what SHE wants. Though she should consider Matt to some extent, this neurotic behavior of him and his mom, makes planning even a simple, tasteful wedding impossible.

According to my theory of picking lifeless characters who are bound to fail, all of them are plants.

Let me rephrase a previous thought.   I'm OK with a bit of the drama and the BS of these shows, but it would be nice to have at least one couple who one can hope would make it.   In this season, NONE of them have a chance at long term harmony or a real relationship......The Season of Losers

Drama sells....

Haha so true!  I was thinking the same thing.

Plus, this is how Azan views Nicole:

-She won't stop talking
-She doesn't respect his culture
-She hasn't tried to learn about his culture
-She doesn't eat healthy
-She doesn't exercise
-She shows no interest in changing to a healthy lifestyle
-She has a child from a previous relationship (I wonder if Azan's family is even aware she has a daughter)
-She wasn't married to the man she had the child with (obviously a big no-no in Azan's culture)
-She cheated on him.

But Azan says he loves her and wants to marry her.  Uh huh...riiiiight.  What could possibly go wrong?

Azan is so concerned about Nicole 'not respecting his culture' however he's marrying a non-Muslim American who obviously has no respect or interest in his culture and is having sex with her outside of marriage.

hypocrisy - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense = AZAN

and cruelty, because from what I've seen Nicole does believe this will be a real marriage and will be crushed when she finds out he was just using her.

I believe Azan's rightfully more concerned about the publicizing of disrespect of his culture that will get him thrown into a Moroccan prison.

I wonder how often people are actually thrown into prison for walking around holding hands or kissing? And let's remember, these two are constantly accompanied by a camera crew as well.

The room-renter from Ep. 1 was taken into police custody for knowingly renting a shared room to an unmarried couple.  That's why Azan grabbed all their crap really fast and they went to the next hotel where they rented two adjacent broom closets.

Narkyia went to a specialty shop for her dress; no way a typical bridal shop would have those sizes. The lace was pretty. Everyone is into helping her play dress up & act like her engagement is actually a good thing.

I figured out what the deal is with Narkyia, she wants a WEDDING.  She wants to get married but I don't think she really wants a marriage, if that makes any sense.  If she wanted a real marriage, why choose a loser like what's his name, the "Nigerian Prince?"

Someone made the point that couples who have it together really don't want to put their business in the street, especially if they are a certain age.  On another thread I mentioned that years ago, people actually wanted to be anonymous on the Internet; but today it seems like people are using the Internet, social media, to be famous; just check out all the wannabe models on Instagram and Tumblr.  TLC is looking for people who want that type of fame.

As much as I like Alla, I think she needs to do some prioritizing. She didn't come to the US on vacation to have fun, she moved to live in another country with a kid, and she needs to adjust to this country sooner rather than later.

In my opinion (based on my own experience) her first priority now should be learning how to drive, getting driver's license and getting a car. Having a car - again, in my opinion - is more important than some beautiful beach wedding or beautiful wedding gown.

She also needs to start thinking what job she is going to do in this country. She doesn't have work permit yet but she can definitely start taking classes in community college or online. I believe it's going to help her not to be bored that much.

Going to nightclub for dancing is sure a nice thing (probably) but maybe at this point it's better to skip this fun. Romantic dinners and dates out with Matt - again, in my opinion, - would do better for both of them at this point. They need to learn to enjoy a company of each other and they have lots of topics to discuss, I am sure, and yes, Matt needs to learn to trust Alla. Also, they both need to learn to have fun together as a family - maybe go camping on week-end or a picnic or just sightseeing or whatever they both enjoy doing together.

As for being bored for Alla at home - she is an adult woman, and she'd better learn to entertain herself. Matt works and I don't think that entertainment of bored wife after work is what he signed up for.

For those who think Alla is going to be able to bring her sister and nephew to the US soon. In the best case scenario it will be 15+ years when Alla's sister will be able to move to the US, most probably longer.

Okay, I got lost somewhere (probably in only half-watching, somewhat listening and doing 90,000 other things while this is on, I can't not multi-task), but did Prince Wannabe AliNigerianAbabwa actually ever have a child/significant other from Alabama? Was the lie that he used to live there? He's never lived in the states, right? Alabama was/was not a made up trip to Crazy Town by this fool with the s- eating grin? How did Alabama factor in?

(DUH, of course he never lived in Alabama, I'm guessing he's never been to the states?)

Thanks for the help and reading this poorly executed excuse for a post!

Your questions made me curious, so I re-watched their audition tape. He has an ex AND a son, living in Alabama although he had told her his son's mother was dead. Did anyone notice the way Azan straight up laughed at Nicole grunting when the camel stood up?  He covered his mouth with his headscarf, and so did the guide.  I'm pretty sure the dude has nothing but disdain for her, and is just barely hiding it.  I love that the show is framing it like *Nicole* is the one questioning the relationship.  I seriously, seriously doubt that.

Maybe THAT is the turn-on for Jorge.   Maybe Anfisa is just there to reinforce his pitiful self-image as a big money man.   The more she expects him to spend, the more it pumps up his fantasy of being regarded as a wheeler-dealer who has that kind of money to burn.  "I'm only with you because I want you to buy me expensive things" may be the most erotic thing she can possibly say to him.   Seriously.   From what I have observed he has no overt sexual interest in her otherwise.

Well the upside is with Anfisa he doesn't have Dominatrix fees.  He gets a 'wife' and dom all at the same time.  That's all I got.  There is nothing 'there' that is charming or likable.  Not her personality, not her badly redone face, nada.

Narkyia just wants to be on tv (but a pretty dress is always welcome!).  Someone mentioned her on Catfish.  I thought I recognized her and the friend with very bad skin.  Although the bad skin friend was the one catfished.

I can't help but laugh at Anfisa. "I was going to say 'who is that gorgeous girl?' but it is a mirror and it is me." Ha!! What she lacks in looks and scruples, she definitely makes up for in confidence.

It felt like Alla wanted her sister to live in the U.S. moreso than just coming for the wedding. The sister was just sort of like, "yeah it would be nice, but eh."

Nicole has no accountability for anything. Any time she's confronted about her behavior, it's met with a "Yeah, well" or " Yeah, but...look at what you did to me." I'm sure she's done that to her parents her whole life.

Your questions made me curious, so I re-watched their audition tape. He has an ex AND a son, living in Alabama although he had told her his son's mother was dead. Narkiya found the ex online and contacted her and it was the ex who told her that he was currently studying business in Vietnam. http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/90-day-fiance/videos/meet-narkyia-and-lowo/

THANK YOU!
So did he con a woman into taking an International trip and that's the result? Was the woman visiting/living abroad and met him and that's how this happened?

OMG! Inquiring minds!

Sperm by mail?! Snapchat baby?! WTF?!

Something I made up LOL

Just playing on the whole ridiculousness of these online engagements.  There's already "FB married", where you're just "married" as a status on FB, maybe next people will be having babies via SnapChat.  Also, more poking fun at and marveling at how he fathered a child with someone in Alabama.

It came across poorly, and this explanation isn't helping much, I apologize!
